Divide by Zero encountered 'Withholding Tax'
Good evening pro's
I'm busy with a test upgrade to 8.8 SP00 PL14 and everything went successful, but in 8.8 when i open a sales order, i get an error message that says Divide by zero error encountered 'Withholding Tax'
I put in the with holding tax in under financial setup and then the message disappears. when i close sales orders and open it again, the message is back... how can i get rid of this message?
I forgot to mention that this doesn't block to order / delivery / invoice to be processed at all.
Thanks in advance,
Reinhardt

Hi Kate,
Yes i've managed to sort out the problem. One of our formatted searches was causing the issue.
We have a formatted search on one of our fields that calculate an addition to the unit prices depending on what value (Value between 0 and 10) is chosen.
The 0 in the field was causing this error to pop up as it was the default value for the field, so all i did was to edit the formatted search with a CASE WHEN <calculation> = 0 then 0 else <calculation>.
The error does not pop up anymore.
I hope this will help you...

Withholding tax in vendor down payments
Hi Friends,
While testing a scenario of withholding tax and vendor down payment
When Vendor down payment recorded with WHT;
For down payment document Vendor line item report (FBL1N) shows withholding tax amount in withholding tax amount column, withholding tax report S_P00_07000134 is showing the down payment document with correct tax amount.
When the above Vendor down payment cleared;
For the cleared document Vendor line item report shows zero in withholding tax amount column, and the withholding tax report S_P00_07000134 is also showing neither the cleared document nor the down payment document.
If the cleared down payment is reversed;
Vendor line item report shows withholding tax amount in withholding tax amount column, withholding tax report S_P00_07000134 is showing the down payment document but with zero tax amount.
Also the WHT amount in vendor line item report in column withholding tax is being displayed without a minus(-) sign indicating a debit amount, but this amount is in fact not a debit amount, when this column is sum up it gives incorrect total.
Please share your experience on such scenario.
Regards,Hi MAURIZIO,
Thanks for refering the SAP note, but this note speaks of inconsistency of displaying WHT info with lot of withholding tax information, this note is applicable upto Release 470. We are on ECC 6.

Divide by zero error encountered
Dear All,
When our customer process PO, they got an error like below:
Divide by zero error encountered. Tax definition [ovcg]
They also got Divide by zero error encountered. Outgoing payments [ovpm]
They can process their business but we need to know why and how to fix this error for them.
Any idea? Thanks.
Regards,
YukaHi,
You need to check the FMS defined on the row level of the document you want to add.
Remove the FMS and you will not get the error message reported.

Withholding tax on vendor invoice
Hi Experts,
Good day. I have some queries on the creation of vendor invoice in F-43. I have created invoices in F-43 but no withholding tax base and wtax amount was reflected in fields QSSHB and QBSHB. The vendor code used is liable to withholding tax but when you post the document amount is zero for both wtax base and wtax amount.
Thanks.Hi,
We have encountered the same problem again last January where if you display the document in FB03, W/tax base, W/tax amt, W/tax base LC, W/tax amount LC have values filled-up.
But if we check the vendor balance in t-code FBL5N and display the wtax base column, the amount is zero.
Last March, we post another document using the same vendor and there was no problem encountered.
It's just weird that there are documents without wtaxbase and there are documents with w/tax base when posted but they are using one vendor account only.
Thanks,
Ellicec -
Hi Guys,
What are witholding taxes applying in vendor master?can any send doc available
i am waiting for fast response
i will give best rewards
Thanks
SteeveDear Steeve,
Please read this
Initially, you assigned these tax codes and tax types has been assigned to ur vendor master. Whenever u r posting any entry by using this vendor, these tax codes come into picture. If you are not interested to dedut TDS, simple you can remove those tax types and tax codes in withholding tax tab in miro. So that system won't deduct any tds.
Otherwise, if u don't want to remove those tax code, change the base amount as Zero, then also system won't deduct any tds amount
Whenever you are posting the vendor invoice you have the option to select tax tap. If suppose you are not selected this tap, tax wont be calculated for the particular invoice. Accordingly Tax is applicable for all the vendors at the time of invoice hence, in your case few vendors you dont need for tax deduction.
Why? do u have any exemption certificates for the particulars vendors.
Every vendor having unique tax code number according to their business nature. Like 194 J, 194 C, 195 thease categatory has been divided according to the Income Tax Act.
You define the tax codes for both invoice posting and payments in the vendor master record through FK02. The system will show TDS for Invoice as well as when you clear the invoice through payments. So there should not be any problem in that. As far as what I understand from what you have written, the system will deduct the TDS amount from payments at the specified rate once, but will show the same in invoice as well as payments
Hope this infirmation helps you

Withholding tax Amount not being displayed in the Invoice while posting a Parked Document
Hi,
I have created a parked document for the Vendor who has the Witholding tax code w9 - 15% . I created Parked Document using FBV1 and then tried posting the same using FBV0.Somehow I am not getting the Withholding tax Amount in the FI Document created. However the W/Tax Base Amount and the W/ Base LC are being displayed correctly.
Say if the Line item Amount is 1,000$ then both the amounts mentioned above in the Additional tab "Withholding tax Data" are being displayed as 1,000 usd but the W/Tax Amount is 0,00 USD.
2. Also We have the PI and the Interface is written to post the Parked document while the xml file. There is a Method Execute_Asynchronous which has two BDCs one for FBV2 ( Change Parked Document ) followed by the Post Parked Document FBV0. Hence When I try to post the Parked Document using the SPROXY Interface which has two BDCs Viz FBV2 & FBV0 I still get the Invoice with the Same Amounts and at times with additional 2 zeros added to it in the Additionsal Tax Data Screen.
I am not sure what is the reason for this. Can anybody help me sort out this Issue.
Can there be any Config issues. Please let me know what all config Settings we need to do to sort out this Issue.
Also let me know why the 2 Zeros are getting added to the Base Amount e.g if the Vendor Line item is 12,000 USD it shows as 12,00000.00 in the Withholding tax Data Tab in the Invoice.
Regards,
Deepak.Dear Praveen,
please check into IMG if You defined the WT type You are using for Your Comapny code:
IMG --> Assign Withholding Tax Types to Company Codes
I hope this helps.

Withholding tax not able to view in FBL1N - Vendor Line Item report
Dear All,
The VI documents are posted in different vendors. The Tax code has been duly selected and tax was deducted at the time of posting the entry. When we generate the list of vendor line items using standard report FBL1N, we observe that only some of the VI documents in the output show the withholding tax amount in the respective column whereas in some of the VI documents, the withholding tax amount is appearing as zero even though the tax line item is available in the document (same can be seen in FB03).
Please let us know the possible cause for the same.
Regards,
Anand.InguvaDear,
by FBL1N is not possible to check the Extended WT
information due to the technical reasons explained into the note
number 363309.
Furthermore please be aware that by the report RFKQST00 and
RFIDYYWT You can have all the WT details.
I hope this helps You.

Withholding Tax Calculation Error for Vendor Down Payment Clearing:Oct '09
Hi,
We are trying to incorporate the new Withholding Tax Structure w.e.f. 01-Oct-09.
There were 3 scenarios possible:
a. Invoice = Down Payment
b. Invoice < Down Payment
c. Invoice > Down Payment
While 1 & 2 were taken care of effectively, the third scenario did not work as expected. The scenario is as follows:
1. Down Payment (Date : 30/09/09)
Amt : Rs. 40000/-;
Withholding Tax @ 15% : Rs. 6000/- (40000 * 15%)
Surcharge @ 10% : Rs. 600/- (6000 * 10%)
Edu Cess @ 2% : Rs. 132 (Rs. 6600*2%)
Higher Edu Cess @ 1% : Rs. 66 (Rs. 6600*2%)
2. Invoice (Date : 02/09/09) - As per new TDS Rates
Amt : Rs. 50000/-
Withholding Tax @ 10% : Rs. 5000/- (50000 * 10%)
Surcharge : NIL
Edu Cess : NIL
Higher Edu Cess : NIL
3. DPC (Date : 02/09/09) - Reversal of TDS calculated in Down Payment (Step 1) above.
Issue:
While making J1INCHLN, amount is adjusted as Rs. -1000/- (hence zero) not payable.
Also, the Surcharge, Edu Cess & Higher Edu Cess are also getting reversed in DPC.
As suggested by SAP Note No. 1372734 - Handling of downpayment clearing scenarios after budget '09, the scenario does not seem to work.
Actual payable should be worked out as under:
Invoice : Rs. 50,000/-
DP : Rs. 40,000/-
Bal : Rs. 10,000/-
TDS @ 10% : Rs. 1,000/-
All TDS Challans, Certificates & Returns must reflect Rs. 1000/- in the Challan.
Require assistance.
Regards,
Kapil TilwaniHi Kapil,
The following needs to be taken care of -
The message controls settings as the note suggests must be set as W.
When entering the details the logic is Vendor Debit amount is Tax amount + 1
The Vendor credit line, the tax code has to be assigned with the advance amount (amount for which the challan has been created) as the tax base amount and the tax amount will be the extra liability that needs to be created.
In your example -
The tax amount will be - 2000 ( the debit at the time of downpayment clearing should have been 4000 instead of 6000)
Tax base amount - 40000 (Challan for this amount has already been made at the time of downpayment made)
The vendor Debit - 2001 (2000 + 1)
The vendor credit - 1
Note - Tax amount and base amount has to be made manually in the withholding Tax tab for the credit entry.
Please revert for any clarification.
Thanks and Regards,

Calculate Withholding taxes for VEndor Invoices using ABAP program.
Hi All,
I have to upload Vendor Invoices using FB60/Fb01 tcodes. I am able to post the Invoices using FB01/Fb60
but I have to calculate extended withholding taxes also using this program for the Invoices.
Is it possible to upload vendor Invoices and calculate withholding taxes using Program?
If yes,
Does anyone has any idea how do you calculate extended withholding taxes using any BAPI's?
I have used these two BAPI's
BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST
BAPI_acc_invoice_receipt_post
they are working fine but without withholding tax.
This is a requirement for country India.
Regards,
SushilHi,
Imho, you need to get (meaning, extract into separate fields) the different supplier types from Table1 first. Your key for Table1 is the vendor no, which is also the key in Table2 (or the key for Table2 is Vendor no & Type).
For better performance, better select multiple/all required entries from Table1 instead of doing a select endselect.
Depending on the format of the vendortypes in Table1, put them in a new itab (for our purpose named Table1New where vendor no & type are the only 2 fields. For example, if the type length is fixed to 2 chars, or divided by space,... use your coding accordingly.
Next step is to select all vendor no's in Table2 which you have selected in Table1. If in Table2, the vendor no is the only key (and the all vendor types are filled in a single record), then loop check the vendor types from Table1New against the types in Table2.
If the key of Table2 is vendor no & vendor type, then do a read table for the key.
The logic in pseudo-code:
Select from Table1 into table. If you'd like to limit the selection size, add package size statement.
extract the vendor types in to itab Table1New.
Select the vendor & types from Table2 by using the for all entries option (better performance).
loop at Table1New
check in Table2:
if the unique key is vendor no: check all fields for the vendor type from Table1New
if the unique key combo is vendor no & type: check by using a read table.
If not found => add entry to Table2
endloop.
endselect Table1 (when using package size)
I guess the most difficult step is to extract the types from Table1 into separate fields, all the rest seems straight forward. Please keep in mind the itab type definitions for a better performance.
Good luck!
Best regards,

Multiple vendor line items during IR with different withholding tax status
Business scenario: During IR, several vendor line items are being processed, some are stock materials, others are service materials (using material group). Only the service materials are subject to withholding tax.
Problem: Since the withholding tax type/code is maintained at the company code level of the vendor master, it is not possible to select only the service materials as subject to withholding tax.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? if yes, please advise solution adopted.
Thanks.I think through condition type / condition record, you can reduce the amount payable to the vendor and post it to another GL account. But if you do not update the amount in the W/tax base and w/tax amount, you will not be able to use standard reports of w/tax. May be condition types can be used to do the calculation of w/tax amount and w/tax base amount. Build the logic in the interfcae of e-invoice and SAP to update W/tax fields in vendor invoice.

Delete Withholding tax info in cleared document
We recently made the change from classic to extended withholding tax. I've been able to successfully run RFWT0010 and RFWT0020 when the withholding tax in a vendor master record was changed. However, we have several vendors the were marked as 1099 vendors (non employee compensation) that really are not subject to withholding tax. I've removed the withholding tax data in the vendor master record, but the documents still contain the withholding tax information, even after I've run both RFWT0010 and RFWT0020. I've opened up those fields to be changed in document settings already. Is it not possible to delete or remove withholding tax from the document unless I do it manually through FB02?
We had the same problem. There is no SAP delivered tool like RFWT0010 and RFWT0020 that will work to delete withholding tax data from cleared documents. However you can create a CATT script for transaction FB09 which will work to do this. I used SE16n to gather the needed information which is document number, Line item number and fiscal year. I uploaded the relevant vendor numbers into the query screen for table WITH_ITEM
I chose the relevant fiscal years, tax type FE, tax code not equal to blank, base amount not equal to zero, i chose to display all those plus line item number document number, vendor number, We only have one company code so that was not relevant for me.
I then copied that list into my Catt global variant spreadsheet and away I went. I would worn you about reversal documents you might want to exclude those. I would create a Variant for these selections as well
Good luck
Also if it doesn't really matter what the historical line items say. I had the users simply exclude those vendors from 1099 selection criteria
