Divx problems

I just got my first Mac a couple of weeks ago, and so far I like it a lot. I'm having a few problems here and there though.
One problem is with divx, and perhaps this should be under another sub-forum, but I'm not sure which one.
Anyway, I've downloaded divx from the divx.com website, and whenever I try to install it, it kicks me out of the installation saying that it requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. The thing is, I'm running 10.4.4, so I really don't know what the problem is. Has anyone else run into this problem?

BTW - I tried to work around this problem by using 3ivx and their divx doctor software, and using those I was able to get audio from divx files, but still no video.

Actually, I updated to 10.4.7, and everything works fine now. Thanks though!

hi
been attempting to watch divx movies but safari either crashes or shows a distorted screen. attempting to move the screen always results in a crash
here is the log: (sorry for the size)
any help would be appreciated. have trashed prefs. history cache. installed div x codec 6.6 and then removed it.

I had the Safari problem in terms of it getting hung up while loading web addresses and had to go through diagnostics every time I moved the laptop from office network to home instead of it switching automatically. How do I tell if Little Snitch is still there? I can see it in the download queue, but no where else. Also, even tho I have to switch manually to the office network and Safari is slow, at least I stay online here without Safari stopping or getting error messages, which makes me wonder if my router is messed up and contributing to problems. I have reset and unplugged my home router with no apparent effect. Sally

QuickTime Divx Problems

Divx files that used to play well in QT don't work any more. They seem to hang up every 30 seconds or so. The movie info fps jumps around to as high as 70. I recently installed Toast 7(with its divx support) and Divx Fusion. Could these two codecs be in conflict? I removed the Divx 6 and tried but no luck.

This problem just got worse. I downloaded a quick time trailer and it's hanging up the same way. Help!

DIVX problem in Quicktime, HELP!!

How come Quicktime doesn;t play videos encoded in divx 3.11? there is no audio whn you play this kind of file. I also get this error message (-50) on some files. I can't open these files. is there any other program i can use that doesnt give me this problem? or what can i do to fix this?

Although I can find no reference to this in this forum, it appears to be a common problem. I am using latest Premiere Pro and latest divx codex, so I am at a lost as to why I cannot hear sound and what to do to resolve same.

I guess the search engine stopped working the day you looked... there are literally hundreds of messages concerning divx problems
Based on reading a LOT of problem reports, importing files from a DVD camcorder or other MPEG device, or trying to edit divx, or Ripping DVD files rarely results in success in Premiere... do not be fooled by movie industry advertising into thinking that "DVD Quality Video" is suitable for EDITING... it is not... a DVD is designed to be for PLAYBACK only... and that includes trying to edit a Standard Def MPEG or VOB file!
You should also use WAV sound files, not the compressed MP3 format
The only SD (Standard Def) files that Premiere really likes are DV AVI type 2

Click the internal link for editing compressed files... read, there are some ideas & links there, including some links to other programs that have been mentioned in the Premiere forum as being better suited to editing MPG files
If you only have DVD type files, you should convert to DV AVI or use different software... go to the VideoHelp link in my notes and look for a program to convert... but do be aware that converting from a HIGHLY compressed viewing format back to an editing format is going to cause a drop in quality

CLASSIC don't works as under 10.3.9!

I have made a new install of Mac OS 9.2.2 and 10.4.5 on two seperate partitions onto my G4 AGP Graphics("Sawtooth") with 466 MHz and HD 20 GB.
After I started Classic it seems to start like every time,
but at the end of the starting process nothing happened!
No OS 9 program is able to start. If i choose a OS 9 proggi
the CLASSIC starts again and nothing happens...
The same with "no extensions"!!!
Under OS X 10.3.9 all worked well?
Is it once again a DiVX-problem?
What can I do?

Finder won't run/Hard Drive won't mount on restart!!?!

Hey all.
Restarted my Powerbook G4 on OSX 10.4.10 yesterday, and for some reason, the Finder does not run, and the HardDrive icon does not appear. My top bar appears partially, and my Dock appears with all my programs, but the desktop is empty!?!
Some of the programs on the Dock work (hence the internet). and the top bar becomes full when a program opens...but I can't access the Harddrive! Ahhh! There were some files on the desktop and on my HD that I needed, so surprisingly I was able to open up Acrobat, hit open file, and locate and open these files from the desktop or HD, and then save them to a USB drive....but why doesn't my finder work or harddrive mount??
I've zapped the P ram and nothing was fixed, I ran disk utility from my OSX CD...no problems. ***?? I also read somewhere about a divx problem with 10.5...but I ran that fix code in terminal....and it said "no such file or directory"...so it's not a DivX problem
Please help....I need my PB for work ASAP!!

What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much of the 512 MB RAM, is original, and how much is added?
What peripherals do you have connected? A keyboard, mouse, printer, external drive or modem, router, etc?
Insufficient available space, can cause this issue, as well as system corruption, and possible data loss.
Depending on Mac system usage habits, it is a general recommendation, to keep 10% to as much as 20%, of the Total capacity, available at all times.

Is the Mac shutdown overnight, or does it run 24/7?
Have you ever run any routine Maintenance procedures?
If you turn the PowerBook off nightly, the Background Maintenance Tasks, are never run.
These can also be run, using a Third-Party utility, or manually using Terminal, to run the CRON Commands.
I use MacJanitor, when necessary.
INSTRUCTIONS TO RUN CRON MANUAL COMMANDS
Quit all applications/programs.
Navigate to HD > Applications > Utilities.
Double click on Terminal, to open.
At the prompt, type:
sudo periodic daily
Press Return.
Enter your Admin password when prompted, then press Return.
This will execute the daily script that is sheduled to run every night.
When completed, repeat this procedure, but change the command to:
sudo periodic weekly
This one rebuilds a database or two, and usually takes somewhat longer to complete. It is scheduled to run once a week.
Repeat again, with command:
sudo periodic monthly
Or they can all be run in one pass, which is preferable, with this command:
sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
When the tasks complete, and return to the prompt, you may quit Terminal.
Restart the Mac, and run Repair Permissions.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

Elements problem after divx codec install

hi all,
I am having an interresting problem and I am hoping someone can give me some advice.
I have been running Premiere Elements 8 for a while and a it has been working fine. a few days ago I tried to install the divx codec. Now I open Premiere Elements and it will open, load my project, then minimize and I can not get it to restore.
I have uninstalled divx but no luck.
I also did a windows system restore to a previous state but had no luck there either.
I am running Windows 7 64 Bit.
on a quad core Intel Q6700 processor
intel motherboard
8 GB of Ram
ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL) Video card
dual monitor.
I am suspecting the codec updated a driver somewhere that is causing a conflict.
I had similar problems with Photoshop elements 8 and had to disable my twain drivers to get it to work.
any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
I have used the DivX CODEC, plus the DivX Pro Encoder for years, with zero issues, until the most recent update of DivX with both its CODEC and its player. Did not update the DivX Pro Encoder.
First, these problems have not affected PrE 4.0, running on XP-Pro SP3, so there ARE many differences to your setup. With those differences, I am not at all sure that my observations will apply to your installation and your system.
The only problem that I encountered was that the DivX player seized the File Type Associations for all AVI's, so that Dbl-clicking on any, would always Open them in the DivX player. The new one is filled with ads for all sorts of things, and reminds me of the old RealPlayer from years ago. Also, those ad often lead to a dead-end, from which the only recourse is to buy whatever the ad features, or go to Task Manager and Kill the process - really, really bad move DivX. All it took was going to Control Panel>Folder Options>File Type and changing the AVI associations back to my desired player, MediaPlayer Classic HC. Fixed.
That was my only issue with any version of the DivX CODEC, or the DivX player. Still, I made note of it.
That does not mean that on your system, and with PrE 8, something in there might not have broken.
I would check the file associations in Control Panel, and reset any, that DivX Player might have changed, then test.
While you are at it, also update both your video driver and your audio driver, from their mfgr. Web site.
Good luck, and maybe others will have tips or suggestions.

Problem installing DivX codec on Nokia 500

I have a nokia 500. I'm trying to install DivX codec to play HD Video files. But when I install DivX player, I can't go to main menu. The main menu turns down.
Have anyone tried installing DivX codec or any other codec on nokia 500 to play HD Videos? Please help me. Please tell me which codec or player is fully supported by Nokia 500. I've searched a lot about players and codecs on nokia 500. But nothing found.
I need to play High Quality AVI, MP4, MPG and FLV files. Please suggest me any player that supported by nokia 500.
By the way, I'm using the latest Belle Refresh(111.021.0028) on my nokia 500.

Windows 7 & CS4 Encoding Problem: DivX / Xvid / Lagarith

I'm having a lot of problems exporting a custom video file (1024x768) on CS4 and Win 7 64 Ultimate.
I installed:
Xvid 1.1.3 = Does nothing, gives error when trying to execute.
Xvid - Nic's build = Various codecs, XVid crashes CS4, ffshow crashes CS4, DivX creates 10 Gig files that cannot be
used.
Lagarith Lossless Video Codec cannot be installed.
Uncompressed creates a 15 Gig file that cannot be used.
Encoding takes 3+ hours on a 5 Gig AMD X2.
The video clip is only 5 minutes long, how can I solve this export problem?

The readme file of lagarith says:
Installing the 32bit version on Windows 64

This method can also be used for installing other 32bit codecs such as Huffyuv that install via a .inf file.
What I did:
Extracted the files: there is a dll file and some other txt files.
Copied all the files to: c:\Legarith\
Copied these files to the C:\windows\syswow64 directory.
Open CMD and go to C:\windows\syswow64 directory
Execute:
rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 0 c:\Legarith\lagarith.inf
A popup pops up (LOL)
Error
Installation failed.

Bueno, no las puse en su momento pero ahora sí las pongo:

Problems with mplayer (divx codec)

I'm using mplayer for divx streaming, but using the player i can't move the video forware or backware, just play and watch the entire video without the option of starting a video in other minute, or stuff like that...
What should i do to fix it?

Is this with one (or a few) specific file(s)? Sounds like a problem with the stream and/or broken index. You could try
mplayer -idx
or
mplayer -forceidx

Problema sonido divx dual

Hola,
Acabo de instalar os x lion, tengo problemas para escuchar películas divx dual. En Inglés se oye bien, pero en Español se oyen 2 segundos y luego nada.
Tengo actualizados Perian y flip4Mac.
Alguien tiene el mismo problema?

Entiendo, lo mas probable es que el daños sean efectuado después de la caída al agua, existen métodos para la asignación de IMEI en el caso de que no muestre ningún dato en relación a este, sinceramente no creo que esto ultimo ayude a tu problema no guarda relación , dudo que un reset a configuraciones de fabrica ayude pero de todos modos me queda la duda, me parece que el tema se enfoca mas a tema físico.
No debería de existir conflicto entre la SIM y solo el IMEI asignado, si funciono la SIM 2 en situación normal lo debería de hacer la SIM 1.

Divx 7.2 problems

Dear Apple Support, I am having problems deleting Divx 7.2. This is what I sent to DivX support. I haven't heard from them yet. Maybe somebody here can help. Thanks and have a great day. Dave
Having problems using Divx 7.2 on my favorite website veehd.com. I used to use Divx 6.7 and it worked fine on most videos. I updated to 7.2 and videos were so slow loading I couldn't watch them. I decided to go back to 6.7 and used the 7.2 uninstaller. When I tried to install 6.7 again my hardrive wouldn't let me, said a newer version was still there.
I have a imac OSX 10.6.2 intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz with 2gb mem. I went online and found a program called Cleanapp 3.3.2 for $15.00 and tried to find all the Divx 7.2 stuff. I tried it a couple times, restarted and I was still unable to reinstall DivX 6.7.
I am definitely a "newb" and don't like going into my hardrive and maybe messing it up. I just like to watch movies and documentaries online. I injured my spinal cord 10 years ago and it left me paralyzed from the shoulders down. I type my e-mail's with a pen in my mouth.
I hope you can help me. If 7.2 would work I would use it. I don't think I need all those functions in 7.2, I would be happy with my 6.7 back but I can't reinstall it. Thanks and have a great day. Dave

Cleanapp is a pretty good app in finding files you want to trash. Try AppCleaner which a free utility. Same can be found at Versiontracker and Macupdate.
The only thing I can think for you to try until you hear from the Divx company is to use Spotlight to search and delete everything you find for Divx, use its uninstaller again and again use Cleanapp or AppCleaner.
Repair permissions afterwards and restart your computer.
According to the system requirements information on Versiontracker, Divx 7.2 is not compatible with Snow Leopard.

Divx 1.4 problems for movies online

I recently bought a macbook pro and I like to watch movies at icefilms online. It needs the older version of Divx but when I try to install it I can't? It says it is installed but I don't actually have the application.
I am new to mac. Is there another program I need to be able to actually install Divx? I am able to install the new version of Divx but I need the 1.4 for mac.

Uninstalling DIVX on Mac OS
To completely uninstall DWP 2.0 on Mac
1) Delete /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/DivXBrowserPlugin.plugin
2) Delete /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/npdivx.xpt
3) Delete Movies/DivX Movies/Temporary Downloaded Files under your home folder
4) Delete Preferences/ByHost com.divx.DivXBrowserPlugin..plist from under your home folder
After following these steps, you should be able to install version 1.4 from the link above with no problems.
