DnD from JList into JTree

Can anyone point me at a tutorial demonstarting how to drag objects from a JList into a JTree?
many thanks

Let me add some more information to maybe get some suggestions:
I have DnD implemented in my tree - as my nodes are DefaultMutableTreeNode it is easy to getUserObject() and carry out the necessary changes to model and underlying object.
In my JList(x2) I have custom objects, DnD is implemented on each list. My question is how should I wrap my JList objects so that I can retrieve the user object when I drop it into my tree?
I have found an example of dragging nodes from one tree to another tree, but this is of little help as the DnD is simply dragging the String object about.
Any pointers/suggestions please

  • Help! Add Result into JTree or JList.

    Hi,
    I retrived some values from one of the table from database using ResultSet. And I want to add
    the result into the JList or JTree. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Sam.
    Here is the code.

    String query = "SELECT * FROM PINFO WHERE POLICYNUMBER = '" +
    searchTextfield.getText().toUpperCase() + "'";
    ResultSet rs = Application1.stmt.executeQuery(query);
    while(rs.next()){
    pid = (rs.getInt("PID"));
    System.out.println(pid);
    catch(SQLException ex){
    System.err.println("SQLException: " + ex.getMessage());
    try{
    String query = "SELECT * FROM (UNMATCH U LEFT JOIN DOCUMENTTYPE D ON U.DOCUMENTTYPE=D.DOCNUMBER) WHERE PID = '" + pid + "'";
    ResultSet rs1 = Application1.stmt.executeQuery(query);
    while (rs1.next()){
    String documentcode = (rs1.getString("DOCUMENTCODE"));
    //************** I want to add these documentcode into the Jlist or jTree.

  • Consume MouseEvent to prevent JList and JTree from receiving?!

    I have a JTree and a JList where I have made the CellRenderer so that it has a "button" area. When this button is clicked, I want something to happen. This I have achieved just nicely with a MouseListener, as per suggestion from JavaDocs.
    However, the problem is that when a click is deemed to be within the "button", I do not want the tree or list to process it anymore. But doing e.consume(), both on mousePressed or mouseClicked (though it obviously is pressed the JList and JTree themselves listen to) doesn't do jack.
    How can I achieve this functionality?

    Okay, I managed with a hack: It is the order of listeners that's the problem: The ListUI's MouseListener is installed before mine, and hence will get the MouseEvent before me, so it has already processed it when I get it, and hence consuming it makes no difference. No. Normally, listeners are notified latest-registered to earliest-registered. I don't remember seeing an exception to that rule in the core API. well, you are both right (or wrong ;-) - the rule is: the order of listener notification is undefined, it's an implementation detail which listeners must not rely on. "Anecdotical" experience is that AWTListeners are notified first-registered-first-served, while listeners to swing specific events are notified last-registered-first-served. Below is a snippet (formulated in context of SwingX convenience classes, too lazy ...) showing that difference.
    The latter probably stems from hefty c&p of notification by walking the EventListenerList: the earliest code was implemented very near the beginning of Swing when every little drop of assumed performance optimization was squeezed, such as walking from back to front. Using EventListenerList involves lots of code duplication ... so lazy devs as we all are, simply c&p'ed that loop and just changed the concrete event type and method name. More recently, as in the we-use-all-those-nifty-cool-language-features ;-) I've seen more usage of forEach loops (f.i. in beansbinding) so notification is back to first-in-first-served :-)
    Bottom line: don't rely on any sequence - if needed, use an eventBus (or proxy or however it's called) and define the order there. Darryl's suggestion is as close as we can get in Swing (as it's not supported) but not entirely safe: there's no way to get notified when listeners are added/removed and no hook where to plug-in such a bus into the ui-delegate where it would belong.
    Cheers
    Jeanette

  • DnD from JTree to JTable

    Hi guys,
    It seems JTree DnD support is a quit difficult feature to implement of all swing components.
    I'm writing an application in which I have a JTree structure representing the file system of user machine and another JTable component at the right.
    I want to be able to drag files nodes from left JTree to right JTable.
    I would appreciate a lot if someone share with me some source code examples for this functionality.
    can someone post some basic java code to get me started or point me to some web resource discussing this feature?
    thanks much.

    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=296255Thank you. I already looked at this thread but it's not what i'm looking for: it shows dnd from a JTree to another JTree..however i need to implement dnd from JTree to JTable.
    Is there some basic example on how to do that ?
    thanks.

  • DnD from Outlook to Java.  Any ideas?

    Naive novice here.
    I would like to drag and drop from Outlook into Java app.
    Can this be done?
    If so how might I go about it?
    Any help/information/pointers is appreciated.
    Mick

    hm, its possible to detect the drop from native apps e.g.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.dnd.*;
    import java.awt.datatransfer.*;
    public class MickNBT {
       public static void main(String [] arg) {
          JFrame frame = new JFrame("MickNBT");
          JLabel label = new JLabel("Drag to here");
          new DropTarget(label, new DropTargetAdapter() {
             public void drop(DropTargetDropEvent dtde) {
                Transferable t = dtde.getTransferable();
                System.out.println(dtde+"\n"+t);
          frame.getContentPane().add(label);
          frame.pack();
          frame.show();
    } but i'm not sure how you get the information associated with the drop event. I think it has to be a MIME type for you to have a chance of using it but could be mistaken..
    hopefully someone knows more about this part of the operation :)

  • Error while deploying a PAR file from NWDS into an ECC.

    Hi all,
    I am getting this error while deploying a PAR file from NWDS into an ECC.
    Operation Failed: Please make sure the server is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for
    more detail.
    My server is running properly
    1 - Where is sap-plugin.log file? I don´t find it.
    2 - Could there be another file with another name with information about the error?
    3 - Is there another way to deploy the file directly from the ECC?
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Just make sure you have maintained correct server setting to check the same open the NWDS and follow this path

  • When I upload audio from itunes into my imovie project, it does not show all of the track?

    Hi, I have opened a new project in imovie - I have uploaded 200 photos into the project to make a Comic Book movie!
    this project is 7 mins and 8 seconds long - the exact length of the audio track that I want to play during the movie!
    I have selected the music by clicking the musical note button in imovie, which open up my itunes library and displays the track I want to use that is 7 mins and 8 seconds long.
    When I click and drag my MP3 audio from itunes into my imovie project, i only plays the first 5 mins & 33 seconds; leaving my project in silence for the final 1 min & 3 seconds????
    I have not added markers, there are no fade ins or fade outs - only the first 5 min & 33 seconds or a 7 min & 8 seconds MP3 Audio track???
    I have spent 10 hours trying to rectify this problem.......

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

  • I cannot open a file from LR5 into CC2014 unless it is a smart object. also will not save back to LR at all it gives me an error message "Line: 1 -   photoshop.notifyLightroomDocClosed ('lightroom-2.0', 'B53AFA39-A49B-4709-A9BD-0B6467C175C3', 'Macintosh H

    I cannot open a file from lightroom into CC2014 unless I open it as a smart object. CC opens, just will not display my image. i am given an error code when I save an image, and can only save to my desktop or other locations, not automatically back into my lightroom.
    I am using LR5 latest update, as well as CC2014
    Below is the error message:
    Line: 1 ->  photoshop.notifyLightroomDocClosed ('lightroom-2.0', 'B53AFA39-A49B-4709-A9BD-0B6467C175C3', 'Macintosh HD:Users:BPexposures:Desktop:_DSC5962 as Smart Object-1.psd');

    I was also having this issue, and I did some more searching and found this answer in the Adobe forums: Re: Photos from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop CC (2014) and back.... The issue appears to be caused by having not updated Lightroom to the latest version prior to having CC2014 installed (wow that's stupid). The trick seems to be to uninstall Photoshop CC2014 and to then reinstall it after having upgraded to Lightroom 5.5.

  • Load from ODS into InfoCube gives TIME-OUT runtime error after 10 minutes ?

    Hi all,
       We have a full load from ODS into InfoCube and it was working fine till the last week upto with 50,000 records. Now, we have around 70,000+ records and started failing with TIME_OUT runtime error.
       The following is from the Short Dump (ST22):
       The system profile "rdisp/max_wprun_time" contains the maximum runtime of a
    program. The current setting is 600 seconds. Once this time limit has been exceeded, the system tries to terminate any SQL statements that are currently being executed and tells the ABAP processor to terminate the current program.
      The following are from ROIDOCPRMS table:
       MAXSIZE (in KB) : 20,000
       Frequency       :  10
       Max Processes : 3
      When I check the Data Packages under 'Details' tab in Monitor, there are four Data Packages and the first three are with 24,450 records.  I will right click on each Data Package and select 'Manual Update' to load from PSA. When this Manual Update takes more than 10 minutes it is failing with TIME_OUT again.
      How could I fix this problem, PLEASE ??
    Thanks,
    Venkat.
