  • Error Code 505, proxy, Mail, DNS . . .

No broadband where I live; wireless out of reach of my budget; so stuck with slow-as-cold-molasses dial up.  My telephone company and isp techies say 4.5 kbs is pretty much as good as it gets speedwise.  Can you imagine, those of you who are racing across cyberspace at 200kbs and faster?  Maybe jetting at megabytes, for all I know!
My Mac is a Mini desktop: OS X 10.6.2   Safari 4.0.3   (tried to download upgrade but would take nearly 3 days & after 8+ hours--I did try for the heck of it--it timed out with 1 day and 23 hours left).
Recently switched to high speed dialup; worked better than I expected, so long as I don't mind image disintegration at the high settings.   I even started using Mac's Mail rather than isp's email client and worked flawlessly.   Until recently . . . a bunch of issues cropped up nearly all at once and seems related.
No. 1:  MAIL fails to FORWARD messages with GRAPHICS.  After a minute of trying, up pops message:  server not accepting username & password, check to see if correct or choose another server from list (the list shows my other mail boxes all under same principal username and password).   Erratic behavior: sometimes emails with graphics do get forwarded, and then for two or three days the glitch is back & cannot forward.
No. 2:  Mac and/or Safari keeps changing proxy setting back to Mac's default.  My isp says to uncheck all proxies, leave all blank.  When I do this, no trouble accessing internet. It is irritating when so often I get online okay but message comes up Safari could not access server; so I have to get off-line, go into Sys Preferences, unlock, and uncheck the proxy setting that Mac checked again, apply change (again) and lock (again) which is useless since in spite of locking Mac still changes proxy back to what it wants it to be.  Mac does this when I boot up after computer has been shut down.  But not every time.  Sometimes I can get online without a browser glitch.   This Macintosh is starting to behave as badly as my old PC.
No. 3:  Most recently, past few days, the locked proxy setting has held, but at the same time another, new problem.  The isp's high speed function is failing to be activated and the message I get when booting up is:   OS X network settings could not be integrated with server.  Error Code 505.   The browser works but files are not being compressed & it's the old molasses speed.
I searched my computer and got several files, all programming jargon of course, showing this info:
    1)  library if true    */
kCGLGOUseErrorHandler  = 505,          /* Call the Core Graphics handler on CGL errors  */
    2)  /* 505 */EXTERN void                    Tcl_RegisterConfig (Tcl_Interp* interp, CONST char* pkgName, Tcl_Config* configuration,
                                            CONST char* valEncoding);
    #endif
    #ifndef Tcl_CreateNamespace_TCL_DECLARED
    #define Tcl_CreateNamespace_TCL_DECLARED
    3)  Slot 505 is reserved
My isp's support technician is apparently a PC man and does not know Mac to troubleshoot.
One more thing: the DNS settings also change.  Sometimes there is nothing, just blank; other times I see one domain address or another.  I thought this was supposed to be my isp's DNS which was put in automatically at setting up (downloading) the isp's software and should stay the same.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Donna

Think you going to have to have someone get your data off and reinstall your operating system, update your machine to 10.6.8 etc. Get you working again.
Changing DNS is a security issue. Stop all online banking and other credit card transactions, check your accounts.
Try to find DSL service at least. Your phone company usually offers something.

  • Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD

Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD on a Windows 2008 server.

The global query block list is a feature that prevents attacks on your network by blocking DNS queries for specific host names.  This feature has caused the DNS server to fail a query with error code NAME ERROR for wpad.contoso.com. even though data
for this DNS name exisits in the DNS database.  Other queries in all locally authoritative zones for other names that begin with labels in the block list will also fail, but no event will be logged when further queries are blocked until the DNS server
service on this computer is restarted.

  • DirectAccess Client not connecting without error code on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1

    Hello,
we are currently migrating from Windows Server 2012 to 2012 R2 and are not able to get the new Direct Access Service up and running. Our goal is to establish DirectAccess connection for a handful of clients using the IPHTTPS-adapter on the default port 443.
    Errors:
There is actually no error showing up. It seems the infrastructure tunnel cannot be created but none of the IPv6-transition adapters is connecting (teredo and 6-to-4 are down) and the IPHTTPs adapter gives no informations about a problem:
    >Get-DAConnectionStatus
    Status    : Error
    Substatus : CouldNotContactDirectAccessServer
    >Get-NetIPHttpsState
    LastErrorCode   : 0x0
InterfaceStatus : Failed to connect to the IPHTTPS server; waiting to reconnect
    Setup:
Our setup is a virtualized Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard running on Hyper-V. It is located behind a NAT having the Port 443 mapped to the server. The only role installed after the basic install is RRAS including DirectAccess and VPN. The assistants completed
successfully (running the configuration for DirectAccess and VPN). Operation Status says everything is green und working (for multiple days in the meanwhile). A previous direct access installation (on a different machine running Windows Server 2012) has
been removed before installing the new server. The new installation is using a different router, so this might also be the cause of a problem.
The client is a Windows 8.1 notebook located outside the company network accessing the internet through another NAT-device. The client has been able to connect to the previous DirectAccess setup but has never been able to establish a connection after the
setup of the new Direct Access server. The device has no outbound constraints concerning the NAT-device and is only running the integrated Windows Firewall.
    Diagnosis:
So far I've done some basic DNS and connectivity checks. The DNS-name can be resolved correctly and the router even responds to pings. The port forward is working and HTTPs connections are generally possible (temporarily routed the port to
access the NLS-Website located on the server, which worked fine).
Network monitor shows that both computers are communicating, traffic on the expected Port 443 is incoming on the server and responses from the server reach the client.
Opening the IPHTTPs-url and in an endless page load. Sometime the browser page closes but I've never seen any result. Using telnet on the port shows that the server is accepting connections. I've even build a small test application that does a GET-Request
on the URL returning HTTP-200 and no content.
I'm currently running out of ideas what to do and since no error occurs this is kind of a bit frustrating. Any help appreciated.
    Regards
    Matthias

    Hi,
In addition, have you disabled the DA client components on the DA client? If no, please also check

  • Two Days of Restore Error Code 6... HELP!!!

I have an iPod Touch that's about two years old. I no longer have access to the laptop that it is normally synced to, so I downloaded iTunes on the family computer. After hours upon hours of problems (not syncing, or showing that it successfully synced but getting a "no content" error once it turned back on) I thought maybe it was my iPod that was messing up and not the computer. I reset my iPod through holding down the home button and the power button, and I'm now at the screen that shows the USB cord with an arrow pointing towards the iTunes symbol.
I tried to restore on iTunes, and it will get all the way through until "verifing restore," and then I will get a pop up that says the process could not be completed because of an unknown error (error 6.)
I uninstalled iTunes and installed an earlier version of iTunes, but then my computer wouldn't even recognize my iPod. I reinstalled the latest version of iTunes and Quicktime. Still getting the same error code.
I am on an Administrator account, running Windows Vista 64 bit, and everything is up-to-date. All anti-virus and firewalls are turned off. I've followed all of the steps outlined on the Apple site, and I am down to paying $29 for a phone call to Apple. (Ha! Over my dead body!) I don't have another computer to try it on. I've used two different iPod cords (mine and the cord from another iPod), and have tried out all of the USB ports on the computer.
I'm really hoping someone could help me with this before I lose my mind.
I'm fairly computer literate, but I'm not a whiz. Please don't feel the need to break things completely down into laymans terms, but please don't use pure tech-speak(:

This Question can be best answered by someone who had the Same error pop up, but I'll try my best.  You have an iPod touch 2nd Generation and you don't have anymore warranty for it. I hope you didn't jailbrake it or did something illegal with it like putting a new software on it that should not be on there. Here we go:
Go to your Friends house or anybody else you know that has iTunes on their Computer. Don't sync your iPod!
Try to restore the iPod, or try to put it as new iPod so it'll delete everything but you'll have your iPod problem fixed

  • IPhone will not update (error code 1) will not restore even in DFU mode (error code 1)

I bought the iPhone 4S from a friend, and I came to wiping it manually from the handset, no problems found however during the initial steps the iPhone was unable to validate on the apple servers (with the carrier stuck on searching). So, I plugged the phone into my trusty laptop installed Itunes fresh and proceeded to restore. The process gets to the later part of the validation and throws up an Error Code 1.
I'm aware (from searches across the internet) that error code 1 is typically found in phones with tampered hardware/software e.g. Jailbreak, unlock etc. My friend is not tech savvy and doesnt have a clue about these things so I'm sure the phone is 'as is'.
So i proceeded to troubleshoot the issue:
I edited my hosts file to point to the apple validation server (and checked it allowed connections to gs.apple.com within my browser - successful).
Now as the handset is stuck in recovery mode (with the usb and apple logo) I tried to restore via regular Recovery mode - no sucess (error 1)
Entered the phone into DFU mode (which, in essence ALL of google preaches is the way to restore regardless of issue) same error occurred.
So i looked into 3rd party applications that could force it to restore or perhaps allow a functional end product.
Redsnow (latest edition only provides restore for up to iOS 6.1.somethingorother) that produced a dead end.
Pangu restore facility (latest edition for iOS 7/some 8 models) hanged at the same place as the apple loader.
I've tried flushing my DNS cache, and verified the Date/time on my computer and router is correct.
I refuse to accept the phone is nonfunctional but am rapidly running out of ideas as how to
    a) restore it to the iOS it initially had
    b) update it forcefully and have iOS 8
    c) install a custom rom in the hope some fuctionality exists enough to restore it again.
Please inform me of any suggestions you might have,
    regards Jack.
PS. Further information; This has been attempted on 2 seperate windows workstations both running windows 8.1 up to date.
The USB cable is an unofficial one but has caused no issues in the past on another iphone that ive restored.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? Did you check for anti-virus software? One of the sections talks about interference from anti-virus software and firewalls. Also, you should not have to make any changes to your Host file unless your computer has been used to jailbreak a phone. I worry because you were using a number of software applications that are designed for jailbreaking devices. Excerpt from this support document. Get help with iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • Error sending emails to Internet: Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051

Our exchange 2013 CU2 (CAS+MBX, Win2012) was sending emails to Internet using another server (a kerio email server) and outbound internet email was working as expected.
We have now removed the Kerio server, I also removed the kerio_Send_Connector I was using to send emails to internet and I also changed the email domain in Exchange to be authoritative. I created a new Internet send connector with default values, but the same
    bad behavior is present.
Our Exchange 2013 receives emails internally and externally with no problems. The problems are sending emails to Internet. I am suspecting something in the firewall but i need to do some more research.
If from the same Exchange server I telnet to an Internet email host:25 I do get the smtp banner but as soon as I start typing HELO/EHLO I get disconnected and errors are logged.
Errors when sending emails to any emails address (this is from an email sent to google, all others are the same):
Remote Server at aspmx3.googlemail.com (74.125.136.26) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
7/1/14 9:52:44 a. m. - Remote Server at aspmx3.googlemail.com (74.125.136.26) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051, Win32 error code: 10051." Attempted
failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 74.125.136.26:25'
I cannot find any references from such Winsock error that are related to Exchange 2013.
So far all email is being queued at the Exchange Server 2013. I am afraid to install CU3 and make things worse.
    Thanks for your comments.

Just check if the receive connector settings are set to fine
check the send connector properties and see whether it is  set to use DNS to route emails through external DNS/Internal DNS or smart host .
Do a telnet to external domain like hotmail, yahoo and see  at what transaction you are getting an error
Enable verbose logging, restart the transport service and check if you get the same error in the verbose logs as well
Get in touch with the ISP and see if the port 25 for Outbound SMTP is  opened.
YOu can check if SMTP Proxy is enabled in the firewall. If so disable the SMTP proxy in the firewall and check.
    Good Luck!!

  • Error code 0x00000004 when installing Yosemite?

I have a family member's 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro that failed to boot one day (month ago). I've tried to restore via Recovery and install from all OS's I have available to me (Mavericks and Yosemite). I've downloaded each OS from the Mac App Store. Each time I try to install Mac OS X I get an error. While Mountain Lion (was installed on recovery partition) never included any information, Mavericks and Yosemite gave me an error log. After scanning it, I found the error code of 0x00000004.
In reading other threads, I understand this may be a faulty RAM stick issue? Anyone had this error before? Are there hardware tests I can run? The full log is below.

  • DNS Error while joining the machine to domain.

I get the below error while joining a new Win7 machine to the domain.
I can ping and successfully resolve nslookup on both server and client machine.
Both client and server (2008r2) are virtual machines, with private ip's on LAN...
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
    magic.com:
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
    (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.magic.com
Common causes of this error include the following:
    - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.
    - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:
    magic.com
    com
    . (the root zone)
For information about correcting this problem, click Help.
Looks like some problem with my DNS.
Also i tried to uninstall/ re-install the DNS role.
What should be the TCP/IP network configuration???

I beleive these are required. I am not sure.!!. I did re-install the role, no change :-(

  • Error Code 0x80070035 - The network path was not found, Windows Server 2008 SP2

I have bee receiving following "error code 0x80070035 - The network path was not found" when trying to open file shares in both directions using Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 at both ends. The issue is identical to the KB article KB958285, however the hotfix is only valid up to but not including SP2. One of the servers in question has moved several times between 2 subnets seperated by a VPN. I have tried changing settings in and around the local NIC/DNS Suffix and in the network connection sharing centre, but with no luck. Firewalls are turned off at both sites, and pings and AD queries are successful (one server is a DC). DNS is also working correctly at both sites. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
    Richard

I thought I would add in another scenario, since this link came to the top of my list in the search engine.
We are running 2008 R2 with SP1 (it happened without SP1 as well)
We could not map using UNC (IP, FQDN, or netbios name).  We could ping access the other servers via other utils like event viewer and services.msc but just could not map.
In our case it turned out to be a VMWARE issue but we still had to make a regedit change first
You have to go to regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order\
    And add LanmanWorkstation to Providerorder
I found on a Citrix board that citrix has an issue with this as well
If you're running VM  here is an additional step you should do as well
When you upgrade VMware Tools installed with HGFS from ESX 3.x to ESX 4.x, the HGFS driver may not get uninstalled properly. In this case, the virtual machine's network Provider Order tab in Network Connections
    > Advanced > Advanced Settings displays incorrect information and the virtual machine may lose network connectivity.
To avoid this issue, uninstall VMware Tools 3.x before installing VMware Tools 4.x.
To workaround this issue, if you have already upgraded VMware Tools:
    Click Start >
Run, type regedit, and click OK. The Registry Editor window opens.
    Navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order\.
    Delete the reference to
    hgfs.
    Reboot the virtual machine.
We found that if you strip out the HGFS, you do not have to reboot for the provider order tab to come back
I hope that this saves people a lot of time.   I spent days researching this.
This was the solution for me on 2008 R2 DC w/ Exchange.  I do not have VMWare installed but do have Hyper-V.  Thank you so much!

  • After upgrade: Error code: ssl_error_ssl_disabled in Firefox 3.6.10 Mac OS 10.6.4 - no mozilla-based "solution" works!

In Firefox settings: SSL 3.0 is used, no proxy, network.dns.disableIPv6 set to true. The Mac OS firewall has been tested as turned off/on, but still no secure website (e.g. gmail) can be loaded. This happened first after the upgrade to 3.6.6. I then trashed 3.6.6, freshly installed 3.6.10 from scratch, same thing.
What a ridiculous glitch... wasted 3 hours on this already. About to move to other browsers after many years on firefox...

To explain the Problem in Detail:
The SCCM Primary Site Server and the Clients are in different trusted (bidirectional) forests!
Everythings working fine in this Scenario, I can install SCCM Agent on the Clients with Manual ccmsetup and with Client Push Installation. Additionally i can deploy Software Updates and so on... only OSD is crashing in the releaserequest step.
During my Tasksequence new Clients are joined to Domain A while SCCM Primary Site Server is installed in Domain B
If I change my TS and let the Clients also join Domain B everything works without any Problems and the Tasksequence finish without any Errors.
My Problem must be related to the different Domains and the forest trust.
    My Setup:
MP published to DNS in both domains
    Schema Extended in both domains
System Management Container published and verified in both domains
ccmsetup Parameters in TS: ccmsetup SMSMP=sccm.domain.b FSP=sccm.domain.b DNSSUFFIX=Domain.b
Network Access account configured with Domain B account
Domain Join account has create Computer rights on the OU in Domain A (Domain join is successful)
DNs conditional forwarders configured in both Domains and DNS resolutin is working in both directions
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks.
    regards,
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
So do you actual get an error message in your TS or is it just failing to join Domain B?  (Could be both if the machines fails to join the domain).
Can you review netsetup.log on the machines after the issue and see what error message you might be getting during the domain join process?
Also, if it a domain join issue, can you try manually joining to domain B using the same service account?
