Do I install 32 or 64 bit Windows 7?

I have a MBP, 2.26 Ghz, Lion. Do I install 32 or 64 bit Windows 7? Will I incur any problems?

Use the 64bit version. This is good if you have more of 4 gb of ram.

I want to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1) database on 64 Bit windows XP Operating System. Is it possible? If it is possible then can anybody
    tell me how?

as Srini said, you need to go for 9.2.0.2,
there is no certification for 9.2.0.1 on windows 64 bit.

  • New hard drive, had to install Dell 32 bit windows disk. What to do?

My hard drive crashed on my laptop and I never had any recovery media created or any kind of system repair optios available, I went through many troubleshooting options but finally I decided to buy a new hard drive and confirmed my old one crashed. The only disk I could find was a 32 bit Windows 7 Professional for a dell desktop while my previous windows version was a Windows 7 Home Premium and I am pretty sure it was a 64 bit but not certain.
My laptop is the Satellite L655-S5150. My product key obviously didn't work with this version so I have 25 days with it and it's clear that this version isn't right for my laptop because the icons are large and stretched out rather than crisp and clear like before. The pointer is bigger and it just looks weird. Is there ayway to download the right windows 7 version and use my product key or would I have to buy windows again? Would the Toshiba recovery media you can order from Toshiba do it? Would the windows 8 upgrade for 39.99 work even if the product key isn't entered on this computer?

  • Safari 5 Not installing on 64 bit Windows 7

I downloaded Safari 5 from the Apple website where there was no separate distinction between 32 and 64 bit but when I tried installing it,it says this version of software is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running(64bit windows 7) , plz contact the software publisher.
Can anyone plz guide me what to do ? Thanks in advance

I have had some success at last.  I ignored the warning that HD Writer does not support 64-bit operating system and clicked YES to install anyway.  It seems to work fairly well. I got errors transferring some movie folders, but just re-tried the ones that failed to load and eventually got them all transferred to my PC.
However, I doubt that I am running software that was written for Windows 7 64-bit and I suspect that my installation is sub-optimal at best, or that I may experience other glitches in future.
Is there better software that would work with my Panasonic HDC-H250 Camcorder and Windows 7 64-bit?

I download itunes and When i Press next and install, then it say "there was a problem, the system hasn't changed" ???

it stops when the installation says :computing space requirements. Then it just says "rolling back action", "the installation was unsuccessful"
Having the installer quit at that particular moment is consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Installing SAP GUI on 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit Office

Until about 6 months ago, 64-bit systems in my environment had 64-bit Office 2010 installed.  That caused some problems with other applications, so I made the decision that, going forward, ALL systems would have 32-bit Office 2010 installed.
Apparently, it's taken 6 months, but I finally have a need to Install SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system with 32-bit Office 2010.  It turns out, that doesn't work.
    I receive this:
Not all package prerequisits [sic] are fulfilled
Outlook Client extension for the synchronization of SAPoffice calendar with Outlook calendar... No compatible version of Microsoft Outlook found.
I am assuming that since this same installation works on my 32-bit systems, that it is upset about my architecturally-mismatched Office.
Am I correct about the source for this problem?  If so, is there anything I can do to make the GUI work in this environment?

    Hi John,
Actually, there is no mismatch in having 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows.  In fact, this is probably the preferred environment.  SAPGUI in general is much happier with 32-bit Office, especially older patches (by the way, 7.20 is no longer in support -- you should upgrade to 7.30).
The errors you're receiving are most probably related to lingering 64-bit components of Office on your workstation.  We had the same situation in my office a while back, when we first started rolling out 64-bit Windows to a few users, and the PC techs mistakenly thought that meant they had to install 64-bit Office.  That caused lots of problems, since 64-bit Office is incompatible with many things, not just SAPGUI, as you found.  Correcting the error by simply reinstalling Office 32-bit resulting in workstations with some 64-bit and some 32-bit components, and that just made things worse.  Systems where 32-bit Office was installed from the beginning (on 64-bit OS) had no problems at all.
So, what you're probably going to need to do is to uninstall all Office components (including Outlook, Visio, anything like that, not just Word and Excel), and also uninstall your SAPGUI, then reinstall 32-bit Office (with Outlook) from scratch, then reinstall your SAPGUI.  This will probably clear up your problem.

    Matt

  • Black screen while installing 64 bit Windows 7 on early 2010 MBP.

    Hi,
I just tried doing a clean install of Windows. After partioning the hardrive my system booted into a black screen. It does not have the blinking cursor like I see on other forums.
I was trying to install a 64 bit Windows 7 on my MBP Early 2010.

Forgot to mention, it is a 13". But I don't think that is relevant to this matter

  • What is the plan for 64-bit Windows?

The 11G Express Edition Beta installed without warnings or errors on a Windows 7 64-bit virtual machine. However after install, the following error appears multiple times in the alert log:
OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. !
This error is repeats every 10 seconds in the alert log.
I understand that this is most likely because of the 64-bit OS. However, it is almost impossible to buy a Windows system today that is not 64-bit. If the plan is to only provide 11G Express Edition Beta in a 32-bit version for Windows, I think it should at least install and run properly in 32-bit mode on current 64-bit Windows operating systems. Or is a 64-bit version for Windows in the works?
Thanks! It is great to see some progress on 11G Express!
    Edited by: user468360 on Apr 13, 2011 12:08 PM
I probably obscured my question with the alert log error code. I changed the subject to my real question: What is the plan for 64-bit Windows?
Since almost all windows systems are rapidly moving to 64-bit, will 11G Express be made available in a package (either 32-bit or 64-bit) which installs and runs correctly on a 64-bit windows system? Should we report 64-bit related bugs seen with the 32-bit install package so they can be fixed or is a 64-bit package coming? Thanks!

I don't dispute that you can do the install of 11G Express on a 64-bit Windows OS. It even appears to complete successfully. The database opens and you can connect to it.
However I seriously question if the underlying database processes are running correctly. My alert log is filled with hundreds of the errors that I listed in my original post.
If you have posted that you have a successful install on 64-bit Windows, could you please check your alert log and let us know if you are seeing errors, or if everything is running correctly. The alert log is the main error log for the database. You can find it in C:\OracleXE\app\oracle\diag\rdbms\xe\xe\trace\alert_xe.log. Open this file in notepad and check for errors.
Based on the errors that I am seeing, I ask again: What is the plan for 64-bit Windows? Does anyone from Oracle moderate this forum? Is 11G XE supposed to run correctly on 64-bit Windows, or what is the plan for supporting the almost universal move to 64-bit windows operating systems?
    Thanks!

  • OBIEE 11G 64-Bit Windows LDAP Admin Server Startup Issue

    All,
I have OBIEE 11G installed on 64-bit Windows, and can see all my LDAP users inside Admin Console just fine. When I reorder my LDAP above the DefaultAuthenticator, and make them both 'SUFFICIENT', my Admin Server no longer starts. It hangs on a line in the AdminServer.log that roughly says '<Security initializing using security realm myrealm.>'. Has anyone ran into this? If so, how do you get the Admin Server to start with a non default LDAP authenticator? I've tried re-ordering numerous ways with the DefaultIdentityAsserter in the middle and at the bottom; I've also tried switching the Control Flags on both with REQUIRED and OPTIONAL, all to no avail. Finally, I tried deleting out the DefaultAuthenticator all together, and it still won't start. At this point, I'm assuming this is another 64-bit issue that was not tested properly. Any thoughts/help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Josh

    Paul,
Unfortunately that made no difference. I have pasted in the startup log below. Perhaps someone has some insight into what's happening?

  • Run 6i form in a telnet session on a 32 bit Windows environment

    Hi,
We have the following environment: 8.1.7 database, 9iDS Forms 6i (6.0.8.13.0) included. This is installed on 32 bit windows environment. We have wireless RF barcode scanners with TCP/IP connection. So they can connect to Unix box or a Windows telnet session. As we have Windows system we can connect this equipments to Windows through telnet session.
I heard and read in some topics that Forms 6i can run in character mode environment. But I didn't find any solution.
We would like to run forms as we can run svrmgrl for example on a telnet session.
My question is that it is possible to run 6i forms on charcater mode environment (telnet session) ? If so, what we need to do in the development or running phase (command line parameters for example).
    Thanks in advance,
    Attila

Forms 6i can run in Character mode in telnet - but this only applies to Unix ports of the product - they have an f60run executable as well as the Gui f60runm and the Web f60runw runtimes.
Windows only has GUI and Web versions.

  • ORA-12533 Coupled with 32 bit & 64 bit Windows client installations?

    Hi all,
I have the 32 bit Windows client version 10.2.0.3.0 installed on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. My TNS files where configured properly, and my connections were working just fine within our web applications.
Recently, I've begun to work on a C# Visual Studio console application and when running this app against the very same databases that I have been connecting to before, I ran into this initial error:
Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException.  This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components installed
So, I installed a 64 bit Windows client version 11.2.0.1.0 (I did not remove the 32 bit Oracle client).
Now, with both the 32 and the 64 bit Oracle clients installed, I can still access all my previous web applications. However, the console app (which, again, is accessing the same databases from the same host/starting location) is now giving me this error:
    ORA-12533: TNS:illegal ADDRESS parameters
I've looked around, and what I've read indicates a problem(s) with the ADDRESS parms in the TNSnames.ora file.
Yet, my TNS file was not changed...and still works as needed for the other, web based apps. I have, however, only 1 TNSnames.ora file...located in the original 32 bit client installation folders.
Why would the console app choke with the ORA-12533 error, when the web apps still work?
Does each client installation require a TNSnames.ora file? I noticed that the 64 bit installation does not have the \network\ADMIN folder path (nor the actual TNSnames.ora file) like the 32 bit installation does.
    Thanks in advance.
b.t.w. I can still use (with both client versions installed) my SQLPlus to connect to the databases.

    Hi,
The 32-bit client and ODP is supported on x64 with .NET applications running in 32-bit mode. You just need to make sure your application pool enables 32-bit.

  • EFI32 & 64-bit Windows 7

Seriously, I've been waiting months for the freak'n windows 7 support, finally, only to find out there is no Firmware update. ***. I'm running a Macbook 2,1 stuck with EFI32, and it refuses to let me install my 64-bit windows 7 because I don't have EFI64. I want to know where my firmware update is, because that's all I need. Core 2 Duo 2Ghz. Seriously, this whole windows 7 thing is starting to **** me off. I'm not one get upset easily, but this is starting to get a little ridiculous.

Some firmware updates for Intel-based Macs may not be displayed automatically using Software Update. If they do not appear in Software Update, they must be manually downloaded from the Apple Downloads** site. If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed.** http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
