Do Not Disturb function now blocking calls

I recently updated my iPhone 4S to the latest iOS 8.0.2 and aside from annoying side effects like an unusually sticky keyboard and the occasional crashing app, I've come across an even more inconvenient issue, for me anyway.
I regularly use Do Not Disturb to completely silence my phone while working, studying, sleeping or in a meeting. It used to show a missed call if someone had tried to reach me but now there is absolutely no indication that anyone called, unless they have left a voicemail.
Is there any way to stop this? I don't want to have to "allow calls" from certain contacts or from favourites; I want to completely silence ALL calls but show a record that the call came in so I can return it if necessary.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

I could but then I have to go into my notification settings and do it manually - I use this function regularly, several times a day and often in a hurry. I don't want to have to go into my settings every time when I used to be able to do it at the flick of a button.
My phone is usually on vibrate, using the switch at the side of the device. That means I know if I get a message or a call without excessive noise when in the office or in public. If I am expecting a call or in a noisy environment and want to make sure I hear the ring, I put it on "loud" using that same switch. DND was a quick and easy way to silence everything, including vibrate, when heading into a meeting or going to sleep.
I just don't understand why they would take this function away and was hoping there was a way round it.

  • Do Not Disturb function stopped working automatically

My "Do Not Disturb" function on my iPhone 5 worked per the time schedule I set in Notifications. It only works when I manually set the On/Off function. Does anyone have a fix?
Disregard this. I have the January 7 notice.

I had this problem on 1st Jan, and still have this problem today (2/1/13)
I don't know how wide spread this bug it, but I wouldn't call it sporadic, as I have 2 iPhones (iPhone 5 and iPhone 4) as well as an iPad 3 with the latest versions of iOS and ALL 3 have this DND bug
Its so annoying, i'm just waiting on the fix but for now I have had to turn the feature off completely!

  • HT5463 Does the "do not disturbe" function turn off by itself each morning?

I have turned on the "do not disturbe" function on my iPhone 4 running ios 6.0.  The next day, the feature turns itself off.  Is this normal?  Is there a way to keep the feature turned on until I turn it off?

    Click (or Face):
Thanks for the response.  I have the Schedule turned on (from 10:00PM to 7:00AM).  It works fine for one night.  The next day I will notice that the Do Not Disturbe feature is now turned off.
What I want is for the Do Not Disturbe feature to be turned on every night (between 10:00 and 7:00) without me having to turn it on every day.
Can this be done?  Or do I have to turn it on (through Settings) every day?
    Thanks again.

  • HT5463 I cannot switch off the Do not disturb function.

I turned on the 'do not disturb '  and now the toggle switch will not slide to the off position. I allowed calls from 'everyone' but text alerts do not work. The moon icon is showing. How do I turn it off. I would have thought the switch was for doing that!

    First of all,
Do a reset..it solves most of these kind of issues..
In ur home screen , double tap the homebutton and delete all the apps in multi tasking and then hold ur power button and homebutton simultaneously for about ten seconds or so until you see an apple logo.  do not worry ..you will not loose any data...
After you have done it..try and operate the "do not disturb button".
If it is still not working then it might propably be because of some software glitch.....i recomend that you update ur mobile to the latest firmware 6.1.3..since it solves many small issues like these..

  • Altering function will block calling this function when concurrency?

    Hi
I would alter a function dynamically in a procedure, when altering function and calling this function occur at the same time, will it generate a blocking?
    thanks in advance

Yes. If the function is being called and its running then the ALTER STATEMENT to such function will be in suspended mode until the execution of the function completes.
However I cannot understand why would you want to modify a function in a stored procedure. You can always write a condition based function to perform different tasks on different conditions.
Let us know the complete requirement and may be we can suggest some other alternatives.

thank you very much for your reply.
    My requirement is like below:
In our existed system, there is one Employee table, now every user logining in system can see all employees in Employee table.
Now we want to control users see specific employees meeting some conditions which are configurable in system.
To minimize the effect on existed codes,we plan to rename Employee table to EmployeeTbl and create a  called Employee view in which EmployeeTbl joins the generated function which contains the sql generated by configured conditions for different users.
I have finished the test, and it'ok,but I don't know whether it affects performance too much.
Why not have a table to determine access groups ie what rows a employee can have access to (like say only immediate reportees for supervisors etc) and then link it to your existing users (AD logins). Then its just a matter of dtermining what group the executing
user is part of and then using relationship set for group to determine whch all employees data he can view.
The concept will look like this

  • Settings:  Do Not Disturb functionality problem

All of a sudden my do not disturb automatic scheduling stopped working.  It always worked in the past.  Now I can still use it manually, but the automatic times on and off simply don't function.  Does anyone have a fix?

  • My scheduled Do Not Disturb function has stopped working; help!

I have the iPhone 5 & the scheduled Do No Disturb function recently stopped working which I was using daily.  The regular Do Not Disturb (on/off) still works

A known Issue... This is what Apple says...

  • Do Not Disturb function

Just bought my first iPhone (5s) and I want to allow select phone calls when I'm sleeping but not be bothered by the beeps of incoming e-mails or IMs.  I  used the "allow calls from" function, but when I turn on the manual or scheduled buttons I still get beeped in the middle of the night when I get an incoming e-mail or IM.  What am I doing wrong?

Okay, that is helpful information. Many of the docking stations that charge the phones also keep the screen "awake" which would defeat the setting in DND. I hope it worked.

  • Do not disturb does not block any incoming calls. Has anyone else had this problem how do you fix it

I Would really like to use this feature. But everytime I activate do not disturb I still receive calls and I am still disturbed.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

If you update to iOS 7.0, DND works both while your phone is locked, & when not locked. On iOS 6.0, only works when your phone is locked.
You have to go into settings and choose which you want.  Always or only when locked.  If you choose only when locked if you ar using your phone for anything, even it if is just sitting on a home page with the screen unlocked DND won't stop a call from coming through.

  • Incoming Phone Call DND (Do Not Disturb) or ability to send call to voicema

Does anyone know a good way to put a DND (do not disturb) on incoming phone calls? The idea is to send calls directly to voice mail while still leaving the phone on to receive email & text messages. While at work or in meetings, it would be nice to not be bothered by calls especially from specific people. Ideally it would be really nice to one or all of the following:
-Function to send all calls to voice mail without ringing
-An option when an incoming call is coming in to send the person to voicemail with the choice of a prerecorded message such as "In a meeting" or "At work" etc.
-Send specific people to voice mail without ringing, possibly with a prechosen message.

The only option for the iPhone not ringing when a call is received and the same when a text message is received while in a meeting is by turning the silent switch on located above the volume buttons.

  • Do not disturb is rejecting calls instead of silencing

    Hello fellow iphone users,
I've the new iPhone 5 running iOS 6. I noticed when I turn on the do not disturb settings, my incoming calls are rejected after rining once instead of actually being silenced. So when that happens, the caller calls me again and then my phone rings (as the same caller calls within the 3 min time frame). I would like my phone to alert me during repeated calls so that my family/friends can call me during an emergency not while I'm busy at work.
Is the call being rejected a bug or is this how it's suppose to work? I thought the call would come through but the phone's ringer wouldn't be turned off and the screen wouldn't light up.
Does the same thing happen to you guys as well?
    Many thanks for your help

  • How Secure is my iPhone/  provide automatic re-enable of a phone that has set do not disturb.

There are many articles about how smart phones can be hacked to do things not desired.  One I saw discussed recently is that a Smart Phone when turned on
can be send codes to put it in eavesdropping mode where the phone is asking as a transmitter of what is said near it to a phone connection opened by the codes
    sent to turn it on.
One workaround suggested in some discussions was to require everyone to remove the battery from their phone so there is no power for eavesdropping.  Obviously this won't work on an iPhone since the batteries are not removable.  Does the phone provide protection from having eavesdropping instructions from being sent to it?  Is there a way to temporarily disable the phone so it won't respond to such attempts?  If the phone is fully shut down (hold the button down until the turn off option appears and you slide the slide bar to turn it off.  Will it still respond to signals sent to it via the telephone connection or blue tooth link?  Is there a simple way to turn off that capability which allows the user to turn it back on easily when in possession of the phone?
There is a feature to disable receiving calls or messages during a period selected in settings where you give the start and stop of the do not disturb function.
However, I find Do Not Disturb sadly lacking.  If I go into  meeting for theater and am asked to silence my phone Do Not Disturb seems perfect for that need.  However the next morning when my coworkers ask why my phone is disabled, I have to admit I forgot to turn it back on.  What I really need is an option from the easy settings to disable no longer than 2 hours (length of the meeting, concern, movie, dinner party, etc.  then I do not need to remember to turn it back on.
If I set the start and stop time for the do not disturb option for now, if I don't remember to clear it, mu phone will re-enable at the right time but the next day it will go "dark" for the same interval even if I am free.  Was this feature ever tested using real people doing real life situations?  I found holes in the design and easy ways Apple could fix them.  But they keep ignoring my suggestions.
It seems if a feature idea did not come from the design team, the design team does not deign to read and evaluated decent ideas from customers.  I have talked with a number of long term iPhone users who would like such a feature.  I don't know if the competition is doing anything like it.

This is a user-to-user support forum. A good place for suggestions to Apple is https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • DO Not Disturb Feature is not working

    Fellow IPHONE users ----
Anybody else having the same issue? I'm trying to use it on my 4s.
    Thanks

When I first tested the Do Not Disturb function, I discovered two ways it could seem like it was not working. One, as mentioned above, was that my screen was not locked. The other was the settings under Settings/Notifications/Do Not Disturb. If your settings allow calls from favorites and then you try to test the feature from a phone in your favorites list, it will not block the call. Similarly, if you are testing multiple times and the allow repeated call option is set, the call will also get through.
And one other observation. All of the material I have seen describes the action of the Do Not Disturb function as silencing the notifications. For incoming calls it does more than that; it actually rejects the call so the caller goes straight to voicemail rather than just ringing silently.
