Do you guys actually use adrci ?

DB version : 11.2.0.3
Platform : RHEL 5.4
I was told that professional DBAs use adrci these days to purge unwanted trace files :)
So, I used it about a month ago , but it didn't remove any log files and I had to manually remove the files then.
This time it is a different issue. purge command itself is not working this time.
Issue description:
=================
DB HOME filesystem became full because ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log (or ORACLE_HOME/log , can't remember now) directory was getting full by some sort of trace files with the extension .trc
So, I try to purge unwanted files using adrci . But I got the following error . Eventually I had to manually remove the trace files using rm.

Hi Do You Guys Sell Used Iphones?

I think "you guys" refers to Apple ... I think you're asking if Apple's store sells used iPhones.  I do not believe they ever do.  Here is a link to their refurbished products:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals
You are addressing Apple users here, not Apple company representatives.
If you choose to purchase a used iPhone from someone else, be extremely careful or you may end up with a previously stolen iPhone that would be useless to you.

  • Do you guys actually like ASM?

    DB version: 10.2.0.4 and higher
    OS : Sun OS 5.10
For a single instance DB , would you guys go for ASM or OS based FS?
I have read in Oracle Documentation
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e17264/intro_tdprc.htm#CHDGDCFE
Oracle ASM eliminates the need for you to directly manage potentially thousands of Oracle database files. This isn't strictly true. Right? I don't actually have to deal with thousands of datafiles, thats why oracle has created Tablespaces. I only have to deal with tablespaces

It may be a point of view issue but Oracle Tables are assigned to Tablespaces which are built on files. If you have a lot of files then at some level these files need to be managed at least from a space managment standpoint.
ASM adds another layer of distraction in that it creates and manages the files internally so that from an OS point of view you may have very few files (assign whole disks to ASM and let if parcel out the space to the databases).
To the OS you can have say 4 data files, each of which is equilivent to a physical disk, while on the other end ASM has provided space for 30 different tablespace out of this diskgroup.
So, yes the statement is true.

  • You guys ever used an iP

I've got a Zen Micro and the only real thing I found rather cool with the iPods is the games, I love those brick games
It'd be cool if we could have some games or something to put on the MP3 players or have them open source like graphing calculators. Small games don't require much CPU power and it mnight get more people to buy a Zen Micro or something if games could be written for it and transferred unto it via Media Source or the Zen Explorer. Would be cool to play snake on it or something :P
And i don't know if some of you guys have any sort of graphing calculator but they came out with a USB driver for the TI-84+ & SE which enables you to hook up any sort of USB device that uses the same amount of power and make it work, so maybe we could hook up mini WiFi enteneas or something and then start playing wireless. This is a bit far fetched but w/e

Yes, I've used an iPod. I think the games, contacts and calendar are a complete waste of time. I use a PDA for that stuff. I also don't need appointments, etc. on my cell phone. Another waste. iPod should worry about working with subscription music services or something useful concerning music. Every gadget is trying to do everything, none of it very well. I have been suckered into phones with games (Nokia), a watch with contacts and calendar (Timex DataLink), phone with calendar appointments (Samsung) and various other "convergence" products. All have been so poor at these additional functions I gave them all up. Even the Treo Smartphone (and other smartphones) are lousy phones and lousy PDAs. You're better off carry 2 items. Get one of those new Sony things that plays music, video and games. That sounds like something you might like (not meant to be offensi've). I would MUCH rather have Creative focus their energy on updating the firmware of the Zen Touch, adding Audible support to more players and generally focusing on the audio part of their players without all the marginally useful junk they put on some of them.
Well, for some people who don't use cell phones too much (like me for instance) and other stuff, i wouldn't having the calendar and contacts. But games!!! that's a whole new story. I don't think it would be good idea to have games on ZM and mp3 players. IT will probably decrease your battery life, not user friendly because of the trackpad and bottons and all.
    Topic of iPods:
Yes, i have used iPods several times, they have a different system and stuff fromt eh ZM and Creative. But! I own a ZM because i like the Zm's features. I bought the ZM because it fitted my needs the best.

  • Do Any Of You Guys Actually Get Any Work Done?

I've had Logic 7.2 now for about two weeks.
It works just enough to tantalize me into thinking it's one cool program. Unfortunately, on deadlines, I think this has to be the buggiest program I've ever seen in my life. Files that opened last night won't open the next morning, freeze files stop playing back (to the point where I just bounce everything now, you just can't count on anything to do with freezing). "COREAUDIO " errors pop up constantly one day, none the next. I have the latest drivers. I am not using the latest Apple system (10.4.3) but geez, guys, c'mon, how do people use this program on deadlines? It's like the Space Shuttle or something.
    Any tips here?
    Tom

yeah - i know that. what i meant was at the composition stage i put the swells etc into regions, sometimes into the same regions as the notes, sometimes in seperate midi regions. i think personally its easier to manage that way. i put all the performance detail in at composition stage as well.
what i meant was with automation with orchestral stuff, is that i send the sections to busses and use automation at the very end to mix the busses. i even use midi regions on the bus tracks instead of automation at the composition stage because, again i feel it easier to simply copy and paste a midi region than automation data. i might for example have a swell for an entire section which i want to repeat somewhere else. the other good thing is, if i have a swell in a midi region on a bus track i can really easily shorten it or lengthen it with the midi time compression/expansion feature.
really i was just agreeing with you that automation is a bit unwieldy.

i recently lost my 3rd Gen iPod and ive been using find my iPhone to send messages to it, my email then instantly tells me that it had been displayed or it suonded off however it doesn't find the iPod's current location. you guys think this app actually works? i feel like my alerts are just bouncing back at me. please help. ... AFAIC Location Services is a joke.
With both devices sitting side by side on my kitchen table, Location Services has NEVER shown the devices to be any where close to each other, and at times Location Services has been as much as a 1/4 of a mile off between the two devices.
Your iPod Touch has no GPS receiver so determining its location relies upon wireless routers whose location is known. Its "location" is actually that of a wireless router. Your iPhone 4 can use GPS, cellular triangulation, and Wi-Fi. One would think GPS would be most accurate but urban areas have a greater density of cells and GPS signals are easily obstructed so cellular triangulation is often more accurate.
Therefore the two devices' locations can be expected to be different. Differences of a quarter mile are easily explained if you understand how location services works: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1975
Skyhook Wireless (I think Apple uses its own database now): http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/
Location Services is not a "joke"; its intended use is for basic navigation and for such applications as determining where the nearest restaurant is. It cannot tell you that your iPod is under the couch cushions and that your iPhone is in the car.

hi guys i used boot camp and turned my mac into windows and i wanted to play a pc game called guild wars 2 and i cant find a proper program to actually setup the game

Only if you decide to share with us your particular situation. Guild Wars should install and run like any other Game. Other than the Game Installer, Games don't need some other installer to make them work. Only someone who reads the instructions for the proper installation.

  • Are you guys Pirates or an actual company?

Dear All, I am doing my best to remain calm.  I will jump right to the point.  Please dont tell me to call assurion either.  You sold the crap, you call Assurion.  Ive been on hold long enough.  Plus, I dont deal with assurion, ATT does.  I did business with AT&T not Assurion.  By the way You guys are A**holes. It is unethical for sales reps to sell insurance without mentioning that there is still a deductible.  All they talk about is "it doesn’t matter if you throw it against the wall or lose it in a lake, you are covered.  They need to mention that there is a deductible, and they also need to mention that after your first replacement the others will be refurbished and not new replacements. The reason I bring this up is that these unethical business practices make it hard on Sales people to sell add on warranties/insurance because of the bad name the end up getting due to these unethical actions by some.
My profession for 21 years now has been sales and sales management.  You may ask, darn 21 years in sales and sales management, who does that?  Only people who don’t withhold the whole truth or outright lie to customers.  Further to my point, the behavior of these sales folks gives add on warranties and insurance plans, maintenance agreements a bad name and makes it more difficult for companies like AT&T among others to resell these add on services which generate so much extra income for the companies who sell them.
STOP LYING TO CUSTOMERS, TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH.  DO NOT WITHHOLD!  IT IS NOT WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN. I will dedicate the rest of my existence to making sure people know the truth about ATT and their sales tactics.  The lord knows they aren’t going to tell the truth. Very Poor Choice.

What is the issue that you are having?  I see that you were told to contact Assurion.  Did you damage the device or is it malfunctioning?  Were you told that there wasn't a deductible?  Were you told that you would be getting a brand new phone if you use the insurance?  I don't see how you get that it is "unethical" to sell you something and not explain it word for word.  Sometimes you need to ask questions.  You could've asked them about if there would be a deductible.   IF they lied about the deductible or lied about getting a brand new device, then yes that would've been "unethical".  Either way when you make a purchase you do need to ask questions and spend a little time looking at what you are buying.
If they've been in sales for 21 years, then they surely know of the reputation that sales people have about not disclosing all the information up front, and only telling you the positive factors about what they are trying to sell.  They also know that threre are things in the fine print that turn every sale into a money making venture for the seller.  They chose to ignore those things that they already know so they could blame someone else for their carelessness.    Modern society is becoming too helpless to take care of themselves so you end up with people sueing restaurants because the "hot coffee" burned them.  It wasn't sold as "luke warm coffee", it was "hot coffee"...

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

i have lost my iphone 5. The person who has my phone right now is still using my game center id to play one of my game that i have in that phone named "Clash of Clan". Could you guys help me to sign out this icloud's ID and game center's ID from that phone for me, or anyone knows how to do this, please mail back to me. Id : "[email protected]" Thanks.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.
