Document map + page 0 of 0 issue

Hi
I have a report deployed in 2008 R2 deployed in SharePoint site(integration mode). with more than 200 pages it works fine. It also has document map in it which is working fine.
This Report is upgraded to 2012 and deployed in SharePoint Server 2010. Now if i limit the data of the report, then i am able to see document map and report first page starts with page 1 of 2?. next button is enabled and clicking the forward button it lands
me in last page.
Now if i do not limit the data, i am not seeing the document map and also my reports starts as page 0 of 0. on clicking forward button it takes me to page 1. Not sure why we don't get document map here. any clues.
Ravi.S Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Hi Ravi,
As per my understanding, I think this issue is caused by there are many items in the document map. The reason for this was that there was a document map with some nodes defined in the report design. Each node in the map tree incremented the items in the
object graph until it exceeded the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota of 65536.
There is no way to turn up the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota in this scenario because SharePoint 2010 runs in 2.0 .NET Framework and this is a hard limit there (starting in .NET 3.0 we could turn it up). Therefore the only way to resolve this issue is to limit
the size of the document map either by ensuring that the report returns less data or be redesigning the report to not use a document map or to use a smaller document map.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

  • How do i move to a heading in pages via a Document Map

I am working on a very long document and have dozens of headings all through it that I have applied formatting to so that they are seen in the table of contents at the front.
I am determined to move across to Pages for everything but have not yet found what I am used to in Word..namely a "document map" where I can simply click on the header i want in the left pane and then find myself there.
Scrolling up to the table of contents and trying to read what is in it in very small font in the Page Thumbnails is not working well for me.
Is there a function I am missing? Or are there maybe shortcuts I can press to jump from one heading to the next...? That would also be helpful.
Thanks for any help you can give.

    Peter,
I agree nav would be helpful on longer documents.
if your chapters all have the same title start point "Chapter XX - XXXXXXXX" then CMD+F and use the finder dialogue to move forwards and backwards.
If the chapters are not the same then put some unused character "€" at the start of each chapter heading then when you have finished your document find and replace that character with nothing to remove them all.
Hope that helps if a little late.
    Kind Regards

  • Is there a document mapping feature in Pages?

I'm trying to switch from Word to Pages but I've got one problem. I need a document mapping feature, whereby I can mark certain words or headers and then view them (and click on them in a sidebar). Word has this feature but I can't find it in Pages. Does this exist or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Sam

Unfortunately, the bookmarks do me no good. I need to be able to navigate the document from the sidebar. I typically have different content sections or transcripts from different people and I need to know which group they fall under (and pull out the required into) without having to scroll through actual document. But I do appreciate your assistance. - Sam

  • SSRS Document Map Navigates to Bottom

After migrating to SSRS 2012, reports that already contain document maps appear as before, but when clicking on a map element, it only navigates to the bottom of the page where the group heading is found. For example, if a report rendered five groups on
a single page, and each had document map pointers, clicking on any of the five map elements would all send you to the bottom of that page. It does not bring you to the group itself.
Is there a property in the report that controls this? Could it be a setting in the Report Builder configuration manager?

    Hi Steve,
According to your description, the document map not work correct after migrated to SQL Server Reporting Services 2012, right? We cannot reproduce this issue, it's hard to say the root reason which caused this issue. The suggestion for you is that load this
report to Rerport Bulider and then recreate the document map. It's should work well after you recreate it.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I paste a pdf of a Publisher document into Pages so I can edit?

I have been asked to print a document that was created in Publisher on a PC. I have been sent a pdf of the document, which is A4, printed both sides, with four A6 text boxes on each side, with the same artwork and text in each box. The trouble is, the layout is wrong so when it is cut into four the margins are not even. I have Acrobat 7.0 Standard (which is know is very old) but I haven't used it much and can't work out how to edit the pdf. At the moment all I can do is copy and paste the entire document into Pages but then I can't extract just one A6 text box from the rest. If I could do that it would be a breeze to set it up correctly in Pages so that it works when cut into four A6 pieces. When I go to Get Info it says it is not locked and I have permission to read and write.
Can anyone explain these things to a beginner, please?
    Thanks!

    Chris
There are several ways we can go about this.
*1. In Adobe Illustrator* you can open the pdf file directly and chop out the bits you don't want and resave them individually. There maybe problems with fonts not being embedded as it comes from a PC where such things are mostly verbotten.
*2. In Acrobat* you can do some editing and avoid the fonts issue. But the procedure is a bit more involved.
If it helps, you need 2 things:
    +Menu > Tools > Advanced Editing > Select Object Tool+ and
    +Menu > Split Document… / Crop Pages…+
Using this you can unpick the pdf file removing the parts you don't want. Not as simple as it sounds because you need to understand why some objects select with others and why some are unselectable which has to do with grouping, masking and compounding.
*3. In Preview* cut apart the multiple pages and parts of each page. To split the multiple pages you will have to open the set and then delete the pages you don't want and save the remaining page with a new name.
To delete a page click on it in the sidebar and hit delete.
To crop a page use the +Select Tool+ in the top of the window and drag around the part of the page you want then +Menu > Tools > Crop+ and resave with a new name. Be aware this does not actually get rid of anything outside the select it just crops the view of it.
*4. Which brings us to Pages*. Having divided the pdf into individual page files you can then drag them into Shapes on your page the size of the parts you want to show.
When you click on the shape with page in it a little bar shows up underneath with +Edit Mask+. Click on the +Edit Mask+. You will see the shape, which is the mask, gets a grey dotted outline with white resizing boxes on the corners and mid points. If you need to adjust the crop or size of the shape drag on these.
Behind the shape outline is the image with the cropped parts outside shown greyed out. The greyed out part is the hidden part. If you click outside the shape but on the greyed out part of the image you select the image itself and can pull at its corners or sides to change its shape. Or if you just click on the greyed part of the image you can move it around so that it moves relative to the shape cropping it.
If you have several sections to be shown in each shape, you can move them one at a time to show each one. Say you have 4: 2 top and 2 bottom, option drag the shape with the picture in it to make 4 copies. Then in each one pull the image to reveal in turn top-left, top-right, bottom-left and bottom-right.
Do this till you have all the parts separated and rearrange them where you want.
*A bonus tip:* Cut out a step by opening Preview, next to Pages, with the multiple pages showing in the sidebar. You can drag the pages from the sidebar directly into the shape in Pages, without having to divide the .pdf.
    Any further questions just ask.

  • Can you save a document in Pages and then upload it to a website?

In other words, can I create a word document in Pages on the iPad and save it somewhere (?) and then go to a site and use its upload feature, ie Browse for a document, and then send it to the site.
(Right now, the "Choose File" button on the site I want to use is grayed out on my iPod Touch)

I have the same need as vudean. I don't understand the security issue. If I type a document using Pages or whatever, why can't I upload the document to a web site? I think Apple should make the standard web "file upload control" available to iPad users.
I understand that there should be some limitations, but it should be possible to upload standard user files. I can upload them to Dropbox, so I don't se the big difference.
Does Apple read this? If not, where can I propose this feature to them?

  • After updating to the latest IOS 8 on my ipad I do not have any documents on pages, keynotes etc. I have them on my iphone 5S and I can log in on my pc and see al the documents. I have icloud turned on and idrive.

After updating to the latest IOS 8 on my ipad / iphone etc I do not have any documents on pages, keynotes etc. I have them on my iphone 5S and I can log in on my pc and see al the documents. I have icloud turned on and idrive.
If I start a new document in pages and then try to share this document with the top ring link in pages "share Link via iCloud" a screen notification tells me to "Set Up iCloud. Go to Settings and select iCloud. Sign in and turn on iCloud Drive for Page".
When I go to settings I see that I am signed in.
Please help as I need the documents back on my ipad.

Did you have iCloud photo stream turned on for photos?  If you did, then you can view your photos at iCloud.com.  If you can verify that they are all there, you can do the factory reset.  Once you turn on iCloud again after the reset, the photos won't be on the phone but they will still be in the photo stream which you can view on the device.  You should be able to copy the photos down to the computer from iCloud.  On an Apple Mac computer, iPhoto can view photo stream and you can download photos there too.
Personally, with syncing issues with iTunes, I prefer to use an app called PhotoSync (which is an app in the App Store, Mac App Store, and available from the developer's website for Windows PC's.  This App (once turned on for both devices) lets you send photos back and forth within wifi.

  • Documents in Pages appear blank

I can't see any text in documents opened in Pages. Text is visible in the list preview. I have tried dragging the iWork 09 plist to the desktop and reopening, but that didn't work. Also made sure text display is set to black on white. Others seem to be having this issue. I did notice that in the Finder list, if I open a document in Pages, the icon for that document then turns black. Is there any solution?

I also could see the contents of Pages & Numbers files is previews, but they were blank when opened. Apple tech support--in an hour long call--managed to find a fix for my macbook pro. I hope it works for you.
Concurrently to the seemingly blank files, my computer happened to be  slowing down & stalling a lot, but while related to the problem, I don't know that this is a necessary symptom of anyone else's.
We deleted all the cache files in the ~/Libary/Caches folder, & emptied the trash. It said some files were in use, so we restarted and finished the trash disposal. Then we started up Pages & Numbers, and it was all good!  My computer went back to its normal snappy responses too.
I am sure someone could possibly narrow down which cache files might be causing an issue. But give this a try.
By the way, I am running Pages 9, on Mountain Lion 10.8.4 (recently updated). Disk Utility found preferences and disk verify normally. Activity Monitor showed no excessive CPU use and there was no shortage of  hard drive space. The problem was reproducable in safe mode. Deleting plists for iWork had no positive result. Sometimes the computer would get stuck in spinning beach ball mode for a while, or freeze. The only think that worked was the cache purge.
    Good luck!

  • How do I make my iPad ask to poem PDF documents in pages?

I am trying to save PDF document into my pages app. Usually a grey tab will open up at the top of the screen when you open a PDF document asking if you would like to open thAt document In pages, but it is not asking me that. Can anyone help????

Well you have two different issues going on here. You cannot open a PDF in Pages on the iPad.
If you already have a PDF document in either the mail app or if you opened it in Safari - you can still use the Open In option, but you need to have an app that will be compatible with PDFs . If you have iBooks or Adobe Reader on your iPad, use one of those apps in order to save the file. Tap on the PDF and select Open In and then select either iBooks or Adobe Reader. Both apps are free but Adober Reader has more functionality than iBooks. You can annotate with AR but you can only save and view with iBooks.
The second issue - if you want to export a Pages file as a PDF - open the file in Pages and then tap on the wrench icon in the upper right corner. Select Share and Print. Then select Email and a window will pop up in which you can send the file as a PDF. If you select Send to iTunes - a window will pop up in which you can send the file as a PDF as well.

  • Saving a document in Pages

I purchased and installed Pages, Keynote and Numbers on my iPad yesterday. I created a document in Pages and have spent the past 30 frustrating minutes trying to figure out how to save without success.
    Can anyone help me please????
    Pierre

I am another one of those that have had my epiphany and invested in an iMac and am having some issues getting my head around it all. Having been a Word user since 1989 I have opted to give Pages a tryout.
So if I get this thread correct, the only way to save is to exit/ Crikey what happens if you have a crash or it hangs - and yes mine has been on my desk less than 12 hours and it has hung twice already - or at least I get that twirly circle that will only go away by turning the machine off. Surely it is not beyond the ken to be able to save progressively or have an autosave? Or are you all chuckling at the frustrations of a newbie. But it sure is frustrating. Thank gooodness I still have my Acer in the other room.

  • HT1349 How do i print documents in pages, if I'm not using an AirPrint printer. But I'm using printer pro.

I was wondering if maybe an update for pages. So when we actually finish a document in pages and select print it would immediately print or have the open in option there already, so we can print via 3rd party apps like printer pro.? Maybe something we can look forward too.

    Hi indy-girl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print 6 3/4" envelopes from your HP Officejet Pro 8600, but keep getting an error 'printer that it is not set for the right size'. After taking a look at the Supported envelopes sizes, the 6 3/4 is not supported. See below:
I was able to take a look at the 8600, the only thing I am seeing listed on the paper tray is Legal/Letter, and the 4x6". I am not seeing the 6 3/4 size.
    I hope this helps!

  • Canon Pixma 922 - when I copy a document the pages come out blank.

When I copy a document the pages came out blank.
Also, when I print an MS-Word document, the pages come out blank, however, if I print an HTML document from a website, the printer prints fine.

    Hi dstei33162,
Since HTML documents are printing correctly, it is possible that the large black ink tank in the unit may be clogged.  You can print a nozzle check pattern from the printer to see if the inkjet nozzles are dispensing the ink correctly.  To do this, please follow the steps located here.  Once it is printed, please examine it and compare it to a correctly print pattern here.  If all of the colors are not appearing, including the black grid at the top above the colors, performing print head cleanings on the unit may resolve the issue.  To perform the cleanings, please follow the steps located here.  We recommend performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings.
Should you still experience difficulty, the printer may require servicing; please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • The document "x.pages" could not be saved. No such file or directory

I have a client machine that connects to an xserve/xraid that gets the error "The document 'thefilename.pages' could not be saved. No such file or directory" while attempting to save a file.
The file in question does exist on the server as does the directory. In fact the file was opened from the server for editing. It's the saving back to the server that is causing an issue.
The file can be saved to the desktop then copied back to the server, overwriting the old file but cannot be saved directly.
Adding to the odd behavior is that the issue is not consistent. However it appears to happen most often later in the work day.
I found a thread with a similar question but no answer and the thread was locked and could not be added to.
    Any ideas for a fix?

I experience the same issue with iWorks Numbers when saving a locally worked-on file back to the network server. It only started happening after upgrading my local iMac to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.1)- the server is running on Leopard (10.5.?). I suspect the problem lies in this upgrade incompatibility. Apple are taking their time fixing it-still occurs with OS 10.6.4. Or are the saying I should upgrade the OS on the server as well?
    (1) To check if there is an incompatibility, check if the file saved locally is in good health before moving it on the server.
    (2) Here we are end-users like you so we can't respond to questions asked to Apple.
    (3) I'm a bit surprised that you get corrupted files using a product which doesn't exist. There is no iWorks product. Apple never distribute such a product !

  • How to enable document map in SSRS Report Manager

    Hi Team,
How to enable Document Map in SSRS Report manager 2008 version.
    laxman

    Hi kumarj4009,
As per my understanding, you created a Document map, it works fine in Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), but you could not view the report in report manager.
After we create a report in Visual Studio, we need to publish it to a report server to make it available to users. In Report Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio, we must specify the report server as well as folders for reports and shared
data sources so that we can publish the items in a project. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
Right-click the report project, and then click Properties.
In the Property Pages dialog box for the project, select a configuration to edit from the Configuration list.
In OverwriteDataSources, select True to overwrite the data source on the server each time reports are published, or select False to keep the data source on the server.
In the TargetDataSourceFolder text box, type the folder on the report server in which to place the published shared data sources.
In the TargetReportFolder text box, type the folder on the report server in which to place the published reports.
In the TargetServerURL text box, type the URL of the target report server, then click OK.
Right-click the report in the project, then click deploy, after the report is successfully deployed, you can preview the report in report manager.
For more information about Set Deployment Properties, please refer to the document:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155802(v=sql.100).aspx
If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.
