Document misssing text after file save

I am a student and a creative fiction writer.  I do an enormous amount of writing and saving documents perfectly,  and printing the papers, knowing how imperative they are for school, is somthing I just have to rely on with knowing that my saved documents are going to reopen with everything I typed.  I have a private journal. I started it a week ago,  I am now at 169 pages, that's 28,777 words of raw unedited manuscript.  I saved it cause I finally had to go to sleep.  I opened it today, and a huge chunk of the final paragraphs I had writen the night before, are not in the manuscript!!  What my worst fear was, in buying Pages, as a Mac word app., and not the Microsoft Office, which I have always relied on before buying my Mac earlier this year, was the fear that it was only 5 dollars to buy with my computer.  I was being persuaded by the Apple store salesman, that I didn't need Office for Mac, which is 120.00 dollars extra, I only needed Pages.  So, where is the rest of my file? This Journal, is not anything that I consider as so special, or unique, even with a few notes about an idea for a story, included, it's just rambling descriptions of thoughts coming out of my skull.  It's wild and out of control, rambling from one experience or topic, started, and interupted between the main topics, with whole and entire stories in and of themselves.  However,  I do see a therapist twice a week.  He suggested that I write these things down, because he's read my writing, having known me for seven years now, and the theraputic writing would be better, than being in a hospital for depression.  So, therefore this paticular piece is of a certain value.  It also is a well known fact, that famous novelists, don't simply sit down one day and write a book, and they are now famous.  They like all others before them, write, and I mean write, like a lot.
If you want to be a writer, and you don't do a ton of writing, like daily, it just ain't gonna happen for you, pal. I'm sorry about that, but writing professors, students, famous, unfamous, all persons considering themselves as writers, write a (7879689, load of writing!  They even have "Workshops", writing vacations.  This is a vacation that costs a fortune, a for the week long gathering of teachers and novice writers, who spend a week in  the beatiful Cape Cod, area with very luxurious food menus, and in between eating and sleeping, they critique their work.
It's called polishing your craft, how cheesy and elitest sounding!
I digres, an overwhelmingly bad habit of mine, which frustrates all the individuals unfortunate enough to receive my e-malis.
So, if anyone can explain to me, why a chunk of my manuscript is missing, I would appreciate some help.
Sincerely
killer.

It is just text, nothing else?

Error document segments overwritten after file export: In case of invoicing of regional church in BK 1008, an error has occurred while processing a batch-input-file. The file description is Z_DEB_B*. By exporting a file all open FI-documents are overwritten in the document text with the same text.

    Hi,
    thank you for your help.
I am using an Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
It is not a specific file that causes trouble, it is happening with all the documents with Hebrew fonts.
I tried the "Save as" option and the same problem happened.

  • Bookmarks disappear after file save in Acrobat Pro 9

I recently bought Acrobat Pro 9 and have run into a problem with creating, editing and saving bookmarks. (I use InDesign CS2 to create most of my PDFs.)
On only one occasion could I create bookmarks in a normal manner, i.e., selecting pages to bookmark, creating a bookmark using the keyboard <Command B> and entering text into its label. I got through the entire list of bookmarks and saved the file.
When I reopened it, all but one had disappeared. This has happened most of the time.
But there is an additional wrinkle. Except for that one “normal” occasion, what usually happens is that whenever I create a bookmark (by whichever method), my ability to enter text into the label is so short that the only way I can accomplish it is to prepare a list of label contents in a word processor and copy/paste each line into each created bookmark. And I do have to be quick about it. Acrobat will keep generating functional bookmarks as you go along, but when they're all “Untitled” and you can't get get in there to do any real edits, there isn't any point to having bookmarks. (I'm a fast typist.) Invoking TouchUp Text at first gave me a small reprieve, but since then it hasn't helped at all.
When I save the document and close it, on reopening I find again that all the bookmarks have disappeared. Conclusion: they didn't really get saved in the first place.
    Previously I used Acrobat 5.

I see that this is a very old thread. I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 on OS 10.6.6 and seeing something similar. No real solution, but I thought I'd add a data point and my workaround.
It seems as though SOME, but not ALL, of my bookmarks are "taking." Right now, whenever I add a bookmark AFTER what's probably the first bookmark created in the document, it MIGHT stick around after a save. When I add a bookmark BEFORE that bookmark (as in "it's positioned higher on the list in the sidebar"), it doesn't save. I ended up moving the "good" bookmark to the front of the list, and then adding additional bookmarks after it. These all stuck around after a save.
Because of bugs like this, I'm using Preview in every case possible. Acrobat does more, but it sucks at the basics things you'd expect to work flawlessly. Oh well!

  • Since downloading Security Update 2012, Word for Mac no longer able to save or save as documents;  program freezes after clicking save

Since downloading Security Update 2012, Word for Mac 2004 is no longer able to Save or Save As documents.  After clicking Save or Save As, the program ceases to respond and must be Force Quit.  Any tips on making Word functional again?

There was a second Security Update (v1.1).  Did you download that one.  It was supposed to have fixed the problems created by the prior update.  At least is solved my problems with Quicken 2007 for Mac and AppleWorks 6.

  • Word attaching document twice when using File Save & Send

When a users chooses File - Save & Send - Send As Attachment, the attachment appears twice on the email.  This has happened with several users here at the firm.  Has anyone experienced this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  FYI
    - recreating the Outlook profile does not fix the issue.

    Hi,
First, please try to test this issue with an Excel worksheet (via File - Save & Send - Send As Attachment) and check if you can reproduce it.
In addition, please temporarily turn off your antivirus software and make sure it is not integrated with Outlook, then open Outlook in safe mode to check if the problem persists. To open Outlook in safe mode, press Windows key + R to open the Run command,
type outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
Please let me know the result.

  • Preview will not let me annotate document with text and save - HELP!

I have to provide a JPG document to a client that they need to annotate with text in Preview. However, Preview will not allow either of us to save this document once it is annotated, even though I created the JPG through an exported Illustrator File (and therefore have rights to the document).
I have talked to many other people that have annotated documents with text in Preview & save the document without problems, so I have not been able to receive any helpful information to correct this issue.
... Or are there any other suggestions of programs that my client can open the JPG in and annotate with text? She also has a MacBook Pro and would be willing to download a program if it was reasonably priced/free.
    Please help!

Have you turned on MMS messaging in Settings?

  • I need written instructions to use sve text to file

Also include how to find the file to look at what I saved at a later time.

    Hello jcrmain24
'''''this is not firefox issue''''' but, see in the next link how to highlight a text is web pages
    http://www.ehow.com/how_6760854_highlight-text-pages.html
after you hightlight the text, right-click on mouse and select '''copy''',
then you must open a text program (like [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notepad_%28Windows%29 notepad] or [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Word microsoft word], probably you have it in your windows 7 software) and put your cursor in the open page and with right-click on mouse again select '''paste'''.
Now find the File(in the Notepad) expand and select '''save as''', give a name(in File name area) and a place (in Save in area), probably in save in area the program will propose you a place, like ''My documents'' or another, accept it if you want, or click the arrow to see/find another place to save the document.
In Microsoft word is the File > Save as doesn't exist, click the small floppy disk icon, see screeshot how it looks like.
then if you want to find your file, a later time, go to folder you save it, find it and open it.
see the next add-on, i think it is very useful, probably doing the job you want : [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/save-text-to-file/ Save Text To File]
    thank you

  • File-Save As Behaves Badly

There are really two conditions I can't solve, both related to the File:Save As... menu item in Acrobat Pro v9.1.2...
I should note that I have Acrobat Pro 9.1.2 installed, and I'm running Safari 4.0.2 (5530.19) on an MBP 2.5GHz C2D with 4GB of RAM. OS X v10.5.7 totally current.
Condition 1:  When I grab a PDF document from a web page, it opens in it own Safari Window just fine, as expected. I get the Adobe Plug-in Tool Bar as expected. So now I want to File:Save As the downloaded document that I am now looking at in my Safari window
I select File:Save As... and the expected dialog opens and the document title always defaults to 'downloadDocument' instead of the actual name of the file that I have grabbed, even if the html has passed the true file name to the browser and plug in. This means I have to retype the name of the document before I click OK. What a pain......
I cannot find a preference or other setting that would be controlling this. I've looked through the Safari Prefs and the Adobe Prefs
How do I get the default file name in the File:Save As dialog to be the name of the file I have grabbed?
Condition 2:  Assume I am grabbing a number of PDF documents in sequence this way, and I want to save them all into the same target folder on my local drive or a mounted network share point.  So I grab the first file I want, retype the name of the file because it is now called 'downloadDocument', and then navigate to the desired target location and save the file.
Now I grab the second through 'n'th PDF document in series, invoke File:Save As... again each time, and have to retype the correct name of the file each time, and then save each one.  you might think that Acrobat Pro would remember the last used target directory and open the File:Save As... dialog at that location on the target drive each time after the first time.  But no, it seems to point where ever it wishes to point.  And I can't find a preference to set.  Can't find any place to tell Acrobat Pro to always default the save to the same place as the preceding file.
So it is insult upon injury.  Not only do I have to retype the name of every file.  I also have to navigate again to the desired target storage location for each and every file I download.
This is clearly a pain, not very user friendly or efficient, and very frustrating.
    Can anyone help????
    TIA

File save as does not work that way for me, something is up. I'd suggest two things to try:
    1) What happens if you try a different user? If this works properly you most likely have some sort of preference file corruption.
    2) Use applejack or onyx to remove your system and/or user cache.

  • Outlook 2003 Suddenly cutting off email text after send

    Hi everyone,
Some of my Windows 7 Users are experiencing a new issue with Outlook 2003 on their Windows 7 Pro computers.  All systems affected are 64-bit.  Most of our users are on Office 2003 and utilize Outlook with an in-house Exchange Server.
Just recently, in the last week or so, a few users have complained that after sending an email, a large portion of their message gets cut off.  I've seen examples where emails are cut off mid-sentence.  I suspect that a Windows 7 update maybe the
cause here, but I haven't been able to figure it out as of yet.
Does anyone know of any recent issues with any updates that might cause this?  I suspect that it may have something to do with the IE 11 release and that some of our machines are updating to this version (which Outlook uses of course) and this maybe
the cause.  This is the path I am using to troubleshoot, but wanted to see if anyone else with old software had experienced these issues?
    Thanks!

32/64 OS Windows 7 with Outlook (office) standard edition 2003 - email set as HTML format and Word OFF as editor ++ IE 11 causes the issue here - cuts off the text AFTER the save on sending.
Reverting users affected to IE 10 seems to have fixed the issue here and using GP to lock out any options in IE to allow users to upgrade it and stopping any WSUS \ SCCM updates for IE 11 security to prevent it coming back down.
I guess we are all to blame as much as M$ - Outlook 2003 is over 10 years old and IE integration with HTML editor in Outlook was what we did in 2003 days - if we upgrade IE then its not a great surprise to find something breaks that relies on it.
I would be curious to know if this issue is affecting any of our Outlook 2013 \ 2010 friends with HTML formatting and using IE11 on Win 7 or 8.
I have licenses for our users to roll up from 2003 but its such a monster job I have hidden from it for..well 10 years due to training, macro and style manamgement issues and the shear pain I know will come out from users saying, "wehere my wee icon for
..." . BUT '03 is nearly end of life folks and although new does not = nirvana ((in fact I can't wait to find the many pains of 2013 Word and Outlook)) I suspect M$ will not be in a huge hurry to write a fix for a product that they are canning for support
soon - so I guess we either roll down to IE10 or roll up to 2013 Outlook.

  • After purchasing the Export PDF Online software when I attempt to perform a "File/Save As" when viewing a document on the web it locks up windows explorer.  I receive "FIle Save As - Not Responding"

After purchasing the Export PDF Online software when I attempt to perform a "File/Save As" when viewing a document on the web it locks up windows explorer.  I receive "FIle Save As - Not Responding"

I think you may be correct.  It is coincidental with my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)
It may be an Adobe Reader problem in that the "tools/file save as" dialog is completely empty. No local directories are displayed for saving to.   When I try to Close(X) the "File Save As" box it pops up a message box on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I need to go go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.

  • How to do search with multiple texts across documents and rename the file with found text?

    Hello:
I'm trying to do the batch search across the multiple documents and rename the file (or save as) after the found word?
    In example:
I have many unique texts and would want to search across the multiple documents.
If a document is found with that unique text then, the document is either renamed or save as with that unique text.
So, I could know what unique text that file holds.
    How do I do that?
    Let me know.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!
    When you want to post a block of code, you can enclose it with the mark ups { code }
That is the key word code surrounded by curly brackets, but without the spaces
You seem to be running a very old (and unsupported release of the database)
7.3 has not been a current release for about 10 years.
It's probably been that long since I've used this technique, but i think it should work.
You should consider welcoming your system to the 21st century by upgrading to a supported release ;-)
If you used split to chop up your export file, use cat or dd to reassemble it.
    So, something like this:
    mknod bk.dmp p
cat xaa xab xac xad xae xaf xag xah xai > bk.dmp &
    imp SYSTEM/$PASSWD parfile=imp_bk.parfile
    rm bk.dmp
    $ cat imp_bk.parfile
    file=bk.dmp
    log=imp.log
    full=y
    buffer=1048576
    ignore=y
commit=y let us know if still have problems.
    Good Luck!

  • Wrong File Extension after using "Save AS" in PS7 and PSCS

After using 'Save As' the file extension is incorrect (such as filename.psd.jpg) or on opening an image file saved with Save As Photoshop returns the message "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop Document".
There's a setting in 'Tweak UI' under the heading 'Common Dialogs' that offers a choice of disabling 'Enable AutoComplete'.
If you disable 'Enable AutoComplete' then Photoshop 7 and 8 (CS) will no longer add the appropriate ending to a file when using 'save as'.
Unfortunately re-enabling this option does NOT appear to cure the problem, and a re-install of the O/S may be necessary.

That would work if I scanned each card one at a time but that would increase my scanning time 9X.

  • I am trying to update a chart in Pages that I created in Numbers, but the refresh button does not show up after I save the Numbers file. Thoughts?

I am trying to update a chart in Pages that I created in Numbers, but the refresh button does not show up after I save the Numbers file. Thoughts?

It is hard to exactly understand what you have  done or not by you one sentence description. My thought is have you read in the Pages User Guide? Here is what it says about updating a chart in Pages:
Updating a Chart Copied from a Numbers Document
If you’ve created a chart in Numbers, you can copy it and paste it into your Pages document. After it’s been pasted into Pages, the chart remains linked to the data tables it references in Numbers. To change the chart data, open the original Numbers document and edit the data there, save the Numbers document, and then refresh the chart data in Pages. To update a chart after you’ve updated its linked Numbers table:
Select the chart on the page and click the Refresh button that appears.
Note: You must save the Numbers document before copying and pasting your chart into your Pages document and after editing the Numbers data tables that the chart references.
I hope it has helped you.

After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10. when I attempt to save an online PDF to my local drive I receive a blank window where I would expect to see file directory structure to save to.
No local directories are displayed for "Saving To", it is all blank.   When I try to Close (by clicking X)  the "File Save As" box a message pops up on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I then need to go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.
This was not happening in previous versions of Reader.
Tolls/File/File Save As always worked properly.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)
