Documentation bug/typo in Apex 4 workspace export

To someone on the Apex dev team:
I just did a workspace export from Apex 4, and noted the following remark near the top of the generated file:
This script can be run in sqlplus as the owner of the Oracle Apex owner.I can't make any sense of that statement. I know I can run the script as SYS, and perhaps as a used with the APEX_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE, but I'd like the generated text in the script to be corrected/clarified.
Thanks!

  • Possible Bug/Feature Request with Workspace export routine

    I ran into a situation today where my apex database server is dieing and I need to get everything off it fast! I need get every workspace and application on it and to my horror I found no way to mass grab the applications for export. This seems like a natural maintaince thing that you would have the option to export the applications with the workspaces but to my amazement, this was not so. Is there a way I can quickly export every application on the server without going into each workspace and exporting app by app? Also would it be possible to update the workspace export in future versions to give a list of applications within the workspace so you could include an export of those applications with the workspace? Were running 3.1.2 here.

  • WORKSPACE export not exporting Applications?

    When I export my workspace from the admin it doesn't export the applications.
    It only exports the following:
    -- Company, user group and user export
    Any suggestions?

    Kyle - Exporting a workspace exports the workspace definition, user groups, and user accounts. The Users Guide explains how to export applications but I'm sure you've done that before.

  • Documentation bug- -Djava.security.policy==weblogic.policy?

    All,
    According to the documentation, an example of invoking weblogic server
    from the command line for JDK1.2 is as follows:
    JDK 1.2 (Java 2) example
    $ java -ms64m -mx64m -classpath c:/weblogic/classes/boot

    the doc is correct, there is a semantic difference between '==' and '=',
    check

  • Minor bug upgrading from apex 3.1 to 4.1

    I have an application written by someone else in apex 3.1. When upgrading to apex 4.1 some pages failed to work. This was because for some reason there was a condition on a process which had a begin and end when the condition was of type: "NOT EXISTS (SQL qurey returns no rows".
    This was combines by the process being:
    begin
    null;
    end;
    Anyway I thought I might share obviously this was crap code but maybe the upgrade process should run better then that.

    Hi Ben,
    are you upgrading your existing machine or are you setting up a new environment with Oracle 11g and APEX 4.2? If that's the case you can use have a look at http://www.talkapex.com/2012/04/command-line-backups-for-apex.html which creates export scripts for all your workspaces and applications. Those export scripts can than easily be imported with SQL*Plus. Note: Please have a look at bug# 14777994 in our Known Issues list at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-express/apex-42-known-issues-1863578.html
    If you are upgrading your existing database, you don't have to export/import. When you upgrade APEX to 4.2 all your existing workspaces and applications will be upgraded to 4.2 as well.

    I have finally got it working.
    I copied the version of webutil.pll file from the developer suite onto the server.
    This has got it working and the file(s) I am uploading are going through correctly.
    I still have one query though. The progress bar which displays the upload progress seems to be in the top left corner of the screen, any parameters we can set so as to get it in the middle of the screen?

  • Use APEX API to export images as sql inserts

    I was wondering if it is possible to export a custom table with images as sql insert statements, using the APEX API.

    I've uploaded an image as a workspace image. When I click "display install file script" I get the following code:
    begin
    wwv_flow_api.g_varchar2_table := wwv_flow_api.empty_varchar2_table;
    wwv_flow_api.g_varchar2_table(1) := '424D92000000000000003...   etc ;
    wwv_flow_api.g_varchar2_table(2) := 'A800E9FE9800EAFE9800E...   etc ';
    end;
    declare
        l_name   varchar2(255);
    begin
        l_name := 'B73.bmp';
      wwv_flow_api.create_or_remove_file(
         p_name=> l_name,
         p_varchar2_table=> wwv_flow_api.g_varchar2_table,
         p_mimetype=> 'image/bmp',
         p_location=> 'WORKSPACE',
         p_nlang=> '0',
         p_mode=> 'CREATE_OR_REPLACE',
         p_type=> 'IMAGE');
    end;
    /How do I generate these strings to export my images.

  • Workspace export via command line

    The utility that was written to export applications via the command line is great so we can set up nightly application backups. I did a search and couldn't find anything that would do something similar for workspaces. Is there anything like this that exists or is in the works?
    Thanks
    - Brian

    Hi Gerald,
    Yes it is very much possible. For large configurations, it is recommended to take export from command line-
    1. run setenv file
    2. java -Xms512M -Xmx512M oracle.tip.repos.export.Export -inputfile <inputfile> [-ignoretypes <
    file>] <export file name>
    Arguments:
    -inputfile <inputfile> to export specific objects .
    -ignoretypes <file> , This is only for business process. This is to ignore
    the object types while exporting deployable BP.
    <export file name> name of the export file
    For e.g. -
    C:\B2B10g\Midtier\ip\install>java -Xms512M -Xmx512M oracle.tip.repos.export.Export C:\commandExport.xml
    Starting Execution Context
    Export file name is C:\commandExport.xml
    3.26
    exporting all design objects
    export done
    For benefit of other users of this community, I have documented the same on below link -
    http://anuj-dwivedi.blogspot.com/2009/12/exporting-configuration-through-command.html

  • Bug in flash builder 4? ( export air release build )

    Hi every one, I am working on a air application using flash builder 4. I tried to export an air release build and I chose my certificate and every thing seemed to be fine, but whrn I clicked on finish button, nothing happend!! I mean it did not do anything, no error message, nothing. after a lot of time I found out on of my images in assets folder starts with space. that was it!! flex 4 could not export the release build for that reason !!just make sure your file names do not start with space!!
    Anyways I thought to post it here maybe it saves some time for someone.
    cheers

    I had the same issue trying to export an air project:
    Start to export the release then nothing append, no .air file generated, and the compiler asking me again and again to choose files to be exported.
    The issue came from project-app.xml file containing leading space within tags.
    For instance <systemChrome> none </systemChrome> must be change to <systemChrome>none</systemChrome>. (Note the spaces around "none").
    The workspace log file might help in case of silent failure. flexWorkspace/.metedata/.log.

  • Hyperion Planning Workspace - Export option missing in IE 8

    Hello,
    I am using v9.2 of Hyperion Planning. I noticed that the option to export Financial Studio Reports in Workspace does not appear in Internet Explorer 8 while in 6/7 it did. Is there any fix for this problem or any workaround?
    Regards

    I doubt IE8 is supported on 9.2, I know there are patches for 9.3 though I have not heard about any for 9.2, suppose Oracle want to force an upgrade.
    Cheers
