  • User name and password for Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in

    Dear all,
I downloaded Oracle Database 10g Express Edition and I installed it successfully. I created a new account. Then I downloaded Oracle Business Intelligence Spreadsheet Add-in and I installed it successfully as well (both on my PC).
Now I would like to run Oracle Business Intelligence Spreadsheet Add-in but I don't know the way of running it. I click "New query". Then I go to the "Connection editor". There are four boxes.
"Description box" is clear. I write 127.0.0.1 or k219 (it's the name of my computer) into the "Host name box". As the "Port Number box" I use 1521. Then I write xe into the "SID box".
Then I return to the "OLAP connection tab". There are items: user name and password. I try to write user name and password created in Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. And the result is an error: Faild to connect to OLAP service

Please, is there anyone who can help me?
    Your user Frank

When u install Oracle 10g, it forces u to enter new passwords for System as well as scott user and it does not allow u to keep old know passwords as manager and tiger.
If u installed with new passwords successfully, u must be knowing those new passwords and there is no reason to try with system/manager. Instead try to connect with new passwords. We never faced such problems.
If the problems still persits, check that
    a) Oracle service is running
    b) Instance is running by and whether u are able to connect / as sysdba

I'd like to know if there is a stantard to create documentation for Add-On and Add-On's Data Base to get the Add-On's Certification.
    Thanks!

I meant to say that none of the MST's and MSP's apply. Sorry about that.

  • Automation scripts for Instant client install\ add TNS entry

    Guys,
I'm trying to develop an VB application, which uses data from an Oracle server residing in my neighbour's system.
My system doesn't have oracle client installed.
So, I've made use of Oracle Instant Client package-OCBC.
Now, I'm looking for an automation script that would do the following in order
1)Uzip the instant client into a directory. (say C:\ondemand\instantclient)
2)Add this directory into the PATH environment variable
3)Set up Service Names with tnsnames.ora ie. Create a TNSNAMES.ORA file to configure my Oracle instance connection.
4)Set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable to be the path to the tnsnames.ora
Can someone help me out with automated scripts?
    Thanks,
    Bhagat

    Don't worry. I've solved it.
One of the files I was using stated: Always set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable or registry setting to the full path of the tnsnames.ora file.
I took that to mean including the "tnsnames.ora". It doesn't. It really does mean just the PATH part.
However, with this corrected, I got the pulldown populated. But with only the first part of the name, from the tnsnames.ora file. tnsnames.ora had mydb.<domain>.com. The pulldown only had mydb. Manually adding the .<domain>.com to it worked.
Now on to the next problem. <GRIN>

    Eddie

  • Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in Licensing

Is anybody aware of the licensing policy with Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in? Are these licenses to be purchased separately or avaiable with the install of database with OLAP option? Any advise or reference to documentation would be useful.
We have the following database installed and licensed currently:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, Oracle Label Security, OLAP, Data Mining
and Real Application Testing optionsWe have the Oracle 10g version with OLAP option installed
    Thanks,S
    Sudip

The Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in is included in your OLAP Option license.
You might also be intested in knowing that you wil soon be able to use Excel 'natively' using an MDX connection to an Oracle 11g cube. This is a very nice solution. If you have the opportunity to evaluate Oracle11g OLAP (which as lots and lots of enhancements), you should definiately be looking at this solution.

  • Spreadsheet Add-in connect dialog box do not appear after clean EPM-install

Clean install of EPM with allmost all values default.
version 11.1.2.1 on Win server 2008R2 and office 2010 32bit.
    Smartview seems to function properly.
My impression from the documentation is that an installation of spreadsheet add-in does not require any post configuration, but maybe I am misstaken.
So what needs to be done for spreadsheet add-in to show connect dialog box?
Grant some kind of access in shared services?
    Change some environment variable?
    etc etc.

Seems as if there is something fishy with the Essbase Java API, can this cause trouble for the Add-in?
When using the foundation diagnostic tool I get:
FAILED SVR: Essbase Java API Launch external checker with next command: C:\Oracle\MW\user_projects\epmsystem1\config\validation\11.1.2.0\launchEssbaseJavaAPI.bat EssbaseJAPIConnect admin ****** xxxxxxxx:****** http://xxxxxxxx:13080/aps/JAPI

When I try to launch that path manually I get: "The system cannot find the path specified."

  • Saved Selections missing from Spreadsheet Add-in

    Hi,
One of my end users is having a problem with the Oracle Spreadsheet Add-In that no-one else seems to be having and I'm at a loss for what to suggest to him.
Yesterday he encountered some network related problem which left it impossible for the Spreadsheet Add-in to connect to the AW on the database. Everybody else that uses OLAP cubes was still able to connect without problems. When he entered the username and password and pressed connect the system hangs for a few seconds and then returns to the spreadsheet without invoking the wizard. Our desktop services team looked at the problem and couldn't resolve it so have re-installed the Spreadsheet Add-In. This has resolved his connection problems and he is able to build his own queries using the cubes.
The problem that he is now finding is that the saved selection criteria that he had previously been using was no longer visible to him. I.e. when he is in the wizard building a query based on a cube, he selects, say, the time dimension, and rather than selecting from the members tab on the left-hand side of the screen, he moves to the Saved Selection tab. It is at this point that he would usually see a list of his previously saved selections - but he doesn't see any folders or selections.
When I reproduce his steps on my computer I see a folder called Users and then another folder with the schema name and then underneath that there are a number of saved selections. I can select these without any problems.
I'm not sure if this problem is related to permissions somewhere or if somehow the installation is incomplete.
    Has anyone encountered this before??
    LM

The first step to resolving this issue is to check your Analytic Workspace is working. Within AWM can you right click on each dimension and select the option "View data" - make sure you can drill up and down on each dimension. Then repeat this process for each of your cubes. I suspect there is something wrong with either a dimension or cube. If you cannot see data within AWM then Excel will not with either.
If the data viewer in AWM is working OK, then Excel should work as well.

  • Goods Issue Documentation for Text (Non-stock) Items

    Hi all,
I have a business requirement to provide some form of shipping documentation for text (non-stock) items.
The business do not want to create material masters (NLAGs) for these items as they are different/one off purchases.
The purchase the goods and receipt with account assignment to a cost center or internal order, then sit on the inventory and send it out to customers along with real stock items.
Any ideas on how I can provide some kind of supporting documentation, whether that is a delivery note, or just a simple GI Slip?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

So they want to purchase items that they don't create materials for/don't get stocked yet want to include those items that don't really 'exist' in SAP on some for of documentation.
If these items go with real Deliveries then why not add them as text items to the Delivery ?

  • Cant use Export to Excel functionality for ALV if I add a custom button

    Hi,
I have added a custom button the the ALV toolbar by creating a GUI status and using the USER_COMMAND event. However. Now I dont the get the standard ALV toolbar with all the options for sorting, exporting to excel etc.
Can someone show me how I can do both, add my own button to the toolbar as well as use ALV Grid toolbar. Currently the ALV grid standard toolbar has disappeared
    Thanks for reading

    Hello,
I am not sure how you are creating your ALV report.  If you are using FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY there is a parameter callled I_CALLBACK_PF_STATUS .  Read the documentation for this field from the doc for the FM.  It tells you to copy a standard PF status from fucn group SLVC_FULLSCREEN and then add your new button to that staus.
If you are using class CL_SALV_MODEL_BASE there is a method called set_screen_status that lets you do a similar thing - copy an existing PF status and add your button.
    Hope that helps

  • Creating automatically "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" files (Excel files)

I have the necessity of create automatically an excel file with a query to a multidimensional model (ROLAP Cube). It exists any API for a programation language that makes easy this process of creation?
How "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" saves the metadata in the excel file, for example, the information about the database (host name, database name), dimensions and measures selected by the user when a query is made with the "Query Builder"?
It is possible to share any information about this subject?
    Thanks!!!
    Rui Torres

I exported to xml an excel file with a query, that was produced by the “Query Builder”, and it is true that the metadata that contains the information about the database, dimensions and measures selected, is specified in xml and is stored in hidden sheets.
My problem is not to create an excel file (create sheets, write in the cells,...) because it exists some apis that do this kind of operations.
My difficulty, is to produce the xml metadata, that is defined by Oracle, and contains the information that is used by "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" to put the data in the cells of an excel sheet.
What I want to know is, for example, if exists any kind of function that receives the name of the host, the name of the database, the owner of the cube, the cube name and all the options that we can choose in the “Query Builder” (measures and dimensions that we want, the disposition of the dimensions - layout), and return a String with the Oracle’s xml metadata.
With this xml metadata that is returned, I am prepared to create an excel file, that have the functionality of to connect to a database, and get the data that is stored in it.
    Thanks!!!

  • Documentation for PostProcessingPluginHelper

Does documentation for the PostProcessingPluginHelper class exist?  I have not been able to find it in the Java SDK docs.  I'm trying to determine the arguments to the PostProcessingPluginHelper.createInfoObject(...) method.  My objective is to add a dynamically generated Word document to the artifacts to be delivered by the publication.
    Thanks!
    -m

The question about the documentation still stands, but as far as adding word documents, there is a comparable example in the developer guide.
At the bottom of the "handle" method in the post processing plugin, use the following code to add a word doc:
    File addedFile = new File(tmpDir + "\\MyFile.doc");
    IWord addedFileInfoObject =
        (IWord)PostProcessingPluginHelper.createInfoObject(context, CeProgID.WORD, "application/msword", null, null);
    addedFileInfoObject.getFiles().addFile(addedFile);
// return the list of info object artifacts that should be delivered by the publication
    IInfoObjects newInfoObjects = context.getInfoStore().newInfoObjectCollection();
    newInfoObjects.add(addedFileInfoObject);
    return newInfoObjects;

Please, is there anyone who can help me?
    Your user Frank

    Hello,
I went through the same process as user484588, and received the same results.
I have some Access/Excel VBA programs that I use to verify the results of an Essbase cube. Having worked with Oracle products quite a bit in the past, I am reviewing Oracle XE to possibly replace them. The database and forms writer components of XE looks pretty cool, but I need a lot more in the way of report writer.
I have connected Excel to the XE database using Data/Import External Data, but that's no better than my current Access/Excel implementation.
Are there any other reporting tools available for use with XE?

  • Need Documentation for report RCNCT001

I have to execute report program  "RCNCT001' to regenerate the structure in some Project system report to add the custom fields.
SAP suggest to refer the documentation for this report to step-by-step guide. But i could not find the documentation anywhere. Also, when i run this report to regenerate structure, it is asking for the access key for object : <b>R3TR PROG RCNSTRUCR</b>.
Has anyone used this report before? Can any one please provide me the documentation for this report?
    Please help....
    Thanks<b></b>

    Hi,
I had the same problem regarding executing the report RCNCT001 but I have found a way out which has worked out for me. Here are the steps carried out by me.
Select the Structure that you want to Enahnce by Clicking on PS Info System Structures. I had an requirement to enhance WBS Element so I selected WBS Element Radio Button.
    Click on Execute.
The Program will ask for Access Key.Hit Display on the Access Key Entry Screen.
    The progarm gives a warning.
    Hit Enter.
The Program will AGAIN ask for Access Key.Hit Display on the Access Key Entry Screen.
The program then gives 3 warning message.Hit Enter on all Warning Messages.
Now you get a list of all the Fileds from the structure you want to enhance to be included in PS Information System. In my case it is PRSP. Here you can see all the standard Fields along with your Custom Fields.
Click on save.It will prompt for a request.
Assign a request and you are done.
Now if you run CN43N you will be able to choose your fileds in the Change Layout Button on the report output Screen.

  • Network Protocol Documentation for ARD or ANA?

Is anyone aware of any documentation on the network protocols used by ARD? I have plenty of docs on RFB/VNC, but Apple is doing something more with ARD than standard RFB. It looks like they are still making some use of Apple Network Assistant (UDP port 3283) protocol and clearly performing other tasks that aren't part of the RFB standards. Could anyone point to any documentation for this?
I'm trying to develop some utilities that will make working with ARD in a multi-thousand Mac environment a bit more tolerable. I'm not very interested in remote desktop control; this is about asset management and patch management. Once you have more than a couple-thousand Macs in ARD, it seems to slow to a crawl.
For example, we have a very large number of large (21-bit) subnets, and the ARD scanner takes forever to scan them. I've written a small utility that will scan a subnet in seconds, and provide a text file containing only active computers that are Macs. This output loads into ARD much, much faster. I did this after discovering that a UDP packet sent to port 3283 will cause a Mac to respond with its name, ethernet address, etc. I'm trying to figure out what else is in that response packet, and what more I can do. I'd rather have an ARD API that allows me to add/remove computers into ARD (anyone?) but that appears to be the one area that Apple forgot. I'm still new to the Mac world, so I could have missed any number of things. Pointers would be welcome.
    Thanks!

Ok, I've figured out why I dropped the AppleScript route. The ARD dictionary command to "add" a computer to a list appears to require a computer descriptor for a machine that is already in ARD. So, doesn't look like it can actually add a computer to ARD via that route.
    Regarding import from file:
I've used the scanner to scan IP addresses from a text file that is the output from my utility. While manual, this does work. I then have to "add" the computers to the "All Computer" list manually, specifying the credentials. This has been my process to date. Better than nothing, but very manually intensive. It also appears that the scanner is limited to scanning only the first 4096 addresses from a text file, we have about 20x that number of Macs.
I have not tried writing a plist from my utility and importing directly (bypassing the scanner). I'll give that a shot. Assuming this works, it might take one manual step out of the process. Still not sure if I can automate list import any further.
I'd still like to find some protocol-level documentation so that I can improve the precision of my scanner utility. I'd like to verify my credentials on each system discovered, and verify that the ARD client-upgrade is an authorized task before going to the trouble of adding them into ARD only to find these problems later. So far, a significant percentage of my Macs are still running ARD 2.x and 1.x so the upgrade process is important. On a related note, it doesn't look like the "Upgrade Client" task can be relegated to the local task server. Wonder why...
    Thanks again.
