Does anyone have problems with their mac having a Medium-write error? Mine is totally out of hand... I have wasted countless CDs, I've purchased the Mac CDs, and I have tried to minimize the burn speed... The problem continues, and I need this for work.
My mac keeps saying medium-write error, and it's become out of hand. I've done all the suggested things to prevent it, by buying apple CDs, minimizing the burn speed, and restarting my computer... I need to burn CDs for my job, and I am a firm apple supporter... This is just out of control it took me 90 mins to finally burn a CD, because I had to go through 10 other CDs... HELP.
I doubt they're any better than anything else.
I may have an Apple CD-R around here somewhere...

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro which I have upgraded a few things on. I have updated to Yosemite and am having problems with getting my laptop to come out of sleep mode, and to start when shut off. Any ideas of what this might be or how to correct it? Is this more probably a hardware issue or software?
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

Does anyone regularly travel with their 13" MBA?

I'm still vascillating between getting the 11" MBA and getting the 13" model. Really the deciding factor is one of form. Now better portability is obviously one department in which the 11" has the edge. However, it might be too small to use as a primary computer, whether because the screen will hurt my eyes over time or because the keypad will cause me discomfort.
These are concerns that obviously don't apply to the 13". The problem with the 13", though, is that it might be too big. See, in my line of work I have to do a lot of travelling; I generally fly twice a week. Also, occasionally it would be nice to bring my laptop along to meetings. Hence, I'd like to know just how portable the 13" model is. I've picked one up in a store and felt the weight of the thing (it didn't seem that much heavier than the 11") but I'd love to know from an owner who travels a lot what it's like to carry about all the time.
In particular, could you hold it in your arm for a few hours without it becoming tired? On flights, does it fit on your fold-out table? In short, I'd love to know if any 13" owner has regretted not buying the 11".Every computer is a compromise.
The pixel density on the 11" is 135 pixel/inch compared to 127 pixels/inch on the 13".
Other than screen real estate, you will not see a real difference in text size on the 11 compared to the 13.
What you consider too big or too small becomes a personal choice.
The 11" does have a full size keyboard which sets it apart from some other ultraportable notebooks. -

Has anyone else had a problem with their nano sim slot bending snapping or breaking when they put their sim in!? I have had to order a replacement and only had the phone 5hours!

That makes less sense as the sim tray a fairly stiff metal and should be pulled straight out once released. You didn't answer the question about where is was bought. Is is a real iPhone? -

Is anyone else having problems with their I MAC 24" having a foggy display in lower right hand corner after the computer has been on for 30 or 45 min? This is now the 2nd computer that has this same problem. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue with the IMAC 24"? Does anyone know what might be the cause? Its seems that I am not alone in my problem but I do have good news to report that apple support has acknowledged the issue is happening and a fix is in the works. The support and assistance I received today helped greatly to restore my faith in apple product satisfaction.
Lets hope you don't have this experience in the future, hopefully a solution can be reached that is in everyone best interest. I may have to drive a greater distance to another apple store but for myself and others like me feel its worth the extra effort to get better customer service in the long run. -

Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it. -
My camera just recently went blurry. It was working just fine yesterday but then I went to use it today and the pictures are so fuzzy. Has anyone else had this problem with their iPhone 5?
1st... make sure nothing's covering/smudging the camera lens. then...
Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove the Camera app from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete the Camera app from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
- Restart the Camera app
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
Has anyone had a problem with their imac after the power company--in my case Pepco in Washington DC--installed "smart meters" which read the meter and transmit the data via wireless? I've had trouble and when I move the imac downstair it disappears. Help!

It might, as long as the shield is grounded. Metallic (such as copper) window screen is often sufficient.
As mentioned, it would not hurt to file a complaint. The burden of proper shielding should probably belong to Pepco. Among other things, the FCC frowns upon RF leakage and its interfereing with radio communications. Besides, Pepco probably would not want you to affix a shield around their gear - liability issues, etc.
You could experiment by temporarily hanging a shield-screen on the inside of the wall, behind where the meter transmitter device is located, and see if there is any beneficial change. -
