Does iCould use special TCP/IP ports?

Hello,
I routinely use iCloud to share iWork documents between my MacBook Pro and my iOS devices. But somehow, I cannot access these documents from the iWork apps on my office iMac (runs Mountain Lion). Could someone suggest a probable reason? (iCloud-based calendar, notes, reminders sync alright.)
Could this be because iCloud uses non-standard TCP/IP ports, most of which are blocked by my organization’s systems administrator? I could not find anything suggesting that on Apple’s web site.
Thanks,
Girish.

Yep, both of them are blocked. So that’s the answer then. I wish there were iCloud documentation somewhere with this piece of information.

in this posthttps://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/9805551/eigrp-port-number  there is an answer which seems a little weird, the question asks about the EIGRP port number, and someone answers that "The port number is the EIGRP AS."
I goggled all over the net but could not find any single clue about it!! is that really so, I mean DOES EIGRP USE AS NUMBER AS PORT NUMBER?
I know stuff about routing, EIGRP,RTP and so on, please don't state the obvious and just give some link to some document on Cisco, about this subject.
BTW there's a link under the mentioned post but it doesn't load, I don't know, anyway thank you

  • CTC TCP/UDP Ports numbers

Does anyone know the TCP/UDP Port numbers that have to be opened up when using NAT, this is what I have:
    CTC PC >>>>>>>>>>> ROUTER >>>>>>>>>>>ONS15454
The CTC PC and the ONS are on different IP Networks so I'm the router to translate from one to the other with NAT, configured the ONS15454 to use Socks.
I used to have a document that explained this but I've lost it.
    THanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris.
I see you already have provisioned the node for SOCKS Proxy.  If you want to be able to still have IP connectivity (for ping or telnet) to the ENE's, then enable the SOCKS Proxy Only option.  The SOCKS Proxy needs to be provisioned on the LAN connected 15454 at the very least.  You can also go to the CTC drop down menu:  Edit -> Preferences -> Firewall and change the port from being variable to static default.  That will further restrict the ports that are used by CTC.  This should resolve any intermittent connectivity issues in CTC if it is being caused by a firewall.
    www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/optical/15000r9_1/15454/sonet/reference/guide/454a91_nwconnectivity.html#wp42216
"If  you launch CTC against a node through a Network Address Translation  (NAT) or Port Address Translation (PAT) router and that node does not  have proxy enabled, your CTC session starts and initially appears to be  fine. However, CTC never receives alarm updates and disconnects and  reconnects every two minutes. If the proxy is accidentally disabled, it  is still possible to enable the proxy during a reconnect cycle and  recover your ability to manage the node, even through a NAT/PAT  firewall."
Lastly, to answer your question directly below is a link to the list:

  • I want to be able to totally block the FaceTime functionality in my home network.  I would like to do this at the router level.  Does anyone know the hostname or IP address that the FaceTime application uses? Or which port it connects to?

I want to be able to totally block the FaceTime functionality in my home network so my 4 kids aren't using the Facetime feature- It was easy for Skype just had to enter the work Skype on my Router Security list- and it denies access. I would like to do this at the router level for FaceTime? Only site I find in init.ess.apple.com - is this the startup site for Facetime?   Does anyone know a site I can block, hostname or IP address that the FaceTime application uses? Or which port it connects to?

I would presume so, but it might be worth your while to experiment and play around with different combinations to see if you can block FaceTime while keeping Game Center open.  Good luck!

  • I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • I am trying to connect my Macbook pro 2010 to my Samsung HDTV using a mini display port to hdtv cable. Trying to play a slide show in IPhoto but I only get sound with no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am trying to connect my Macbook pro 2010 to my Samsung HDTV using a mini display port to hdtv cable. Trying to play a slide show in IPhoto but I only get sound with no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it.  Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there.  The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple.  They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one.  From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate.  And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one.  Try a new one.  Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port.

  • Can I use the second TCP / IP port on my cRIO to drive a meter Agilent

I would like to use the second TCP / IP port of my NI cRIO-9024 to control my Agilent 33210A pulse generator with VISA TCP/IP.
My Agilent has only TCP/IP and GPIB ports.
    Is it possible?
    cordially

All the MACs (from my old 2006 PPC Mini) will auto detect ethernet crossover and straight through and rollover cables correctly. They should be Auto-MDIX.
Having said that, the FW800 (via TB) and Ethernet should be very close in terms of performance.

I use Pro Logic 9.1.8.  and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

Old saying applies here most of the time......
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example..

  • QOS Network Planning - TCP/UDP Ports used in CWMS 2.5 MDC deployment

    HI Matt,
All the network requirements are listed in the CWMS 2.5 Planning Guide in Networking Checklist: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/collaboration/CWMS/2_5/Planning_Guide/Planning_Guide/Planning_Guide_chapter_0100.html

Whereas /etc/default/passwd on the ldap client says passwords must be 8 characters. This is seen with the pam_authtok_check: minimum length from /etc/default/passwd: 8
. It is clearly not using the policy from the directory server but checking locally. So I can login ok using the ldap server for authentication but when I try to change the password it does not use the policy from the server which says I only need a minimum lenght of 6 characters.
I have read that pam_ldap is only supported for directory server 5.2. Because I am running ds6 and with password compatability in ds6 mode maybe this is my problem. Does anyone know of any updated pam_ldap modules for solaris 9?

  • How to interface instruments through TCP/IP port

I want to connect an instrument ( which has RS-232 port ) to a Computer Ethernet port through an Ethernet to RS-232/485 Converter. In past I had successfully made many GUI with Java-2 swing to interface instruments via serial ports (COM-1, COM-2 etc.). This time I am interested to do the same thing but through TCP/IP port programming in Java-2 application.
Please suggest me websites/java tutorial sites where I may get guide line, advice and sample example programmes.

Until you understand this then coding in java is pointless.
Then you use sockets. There isn't any magic for that part.
