Does Illustrator have a 3D feature?

I would like to use Illustrator as a low level CAD tool by drawing a top down flat object and then link it to a side View flat object to create and then link them. Is this possible. If not, do you have any suggestions on how to create a low level 3D drawing.
Thank you

A Cad 3D app would of course be better  but the 3D effect you can do primitive work with
something on the lines like this and you can map artwork to the surfaces.

  • New classic does not have voice memo feature

    Greetings.
My new 120gb classic does not have voice memo feature. The other 120gb classic I have does have this feature. Any ideas why this discrepancy exists? How do I get voice memo feature installed?

I'm skeptical of this notion, that a microphone must first be connected. This is my second 120gb ipod classic, both brand new, or seemingly....First one has never had a mic connected to it yet still displays "voice memo" menu feature. Unless, of course, someone before me had plugged a mic into my new classic ipod? Will try to plug mic into it and see if feature option appears though.

    Hello all,
Does number have an autofill feature? Like in excel you can just do 1,2,3 etc and then autofill and it will fill in the rest for you but I have yet to find this in number could some please tell me if it has it or not and if so where is it. If not how do you accomplish the same thing in numbers.
    Thanks in advance.

can you do this for 500 rows easily?
am still looking for someone to say
they have autofilled aka filled down more than 5 rows.
I tried and it was painful page at a time.

  • I movie 11 does not have a special feature for subtitles?

i movie 11 does not have a special feature for subtitles?

No, not like you would find on the Windows PC for example Aegisub. That is a very well made open source sub-title editor. What iMovie has are embedded or hard coded subtitles burned right into the video frames after you Share the movie (exporting it really) to the Desktop. There are some title choices that can mimic the sub-titles you see in the movies, but you don't get the timing accuracy required to to real sub-titling, and that's what a program like Aegisub provides, timing, two rows of text, all kinds of different options to not just add but refine the titles.
The closest you can get to a sub-title in iMovie '11 is Lower Third, and Lower options unde the Titles toolbar. (the letter T tool)

Just for clarity, "we" haven't taken your money - this is a user-to-user forum, and you're not talking to Adobe.
Like Rob I'm a Windows user, and - like him - I thought "uninstalling" on Macs was simply a case of trashing the application. Google would seem to concur.
Not really a Lightroom/Adobe issue, then?

  • OT: Does Quark have a book feature?

I have to export (or print?) close to a thousand Quark documents to PDF.
It's about 30 books split to 20-30 documents. Does Quark have a book
feature or something that would allow me to export whole books at once?

Yes, I wouldn't suggest using GREP styles to set up huge kerning tables, but let me give you a couple of examples. The first isn't actually a pair, but my client likes to have some air around em-dashes. So, I have set up a character style named Tracking75 and a GREP style that does this:
    Apply Style: Tracking75
    To Text: .~_
This actually applies +75 tracking to any character that is followed by an em-dash and the em-dash that follows it, thereby giving the em-dash some air.
I also have a CustomKernPair'" character style that I use to add 50 units of tracking to the pair :
    ApplyStyle: CustomKernPair
    to Text: ~](?=~})
In this case, the tracking is applied to just the single right quote when it is followed by a double right quote because of the use of the positive lookahead to locate the second character.
This could be extended as far as you like, but it would quickly get unwieldy if you tried to apply it to more than a handful of pairs; there's also a potential performance issue if you go crazy. And there's no method (other than Based-on inheritance) to quickly get a bunch of these out of one style into another -- but a script could help with that.

  • Does Illustrator have Selection Sets?

Anyone ever used 3ds Max?  Know what a Selection Set is?  Does Illustrator have them?
For those that don't know what I'm talking about, it's the ability to save a multi-state selection, by name (or any other identifier) for later easy re-selection.
Ideally, and this is going a bit far, applying each Selection Set to a Shortcut, like [SHIFT + COMMAND + 1,2,3,4 etc] can be really fast for bigger things, or iterating through ideas and variations.

You can't even begin to imagine!
I've been fighting, kicking, screaming, punching and mauling, tackling and generally brutalising my way through Adobe's UI clusterfuck.
Nice to see something implemented well.  And the selection sets seem to be GREAT!

  • Does pages have a search feature on documents

Does pages offer a search feature for documents.  If I have a document and want to search for a specific word or phrase how can this be done?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Try a Spotlight search?
If you've never used it, Spotlight is the 'sort of magnifying glass' icon at the upper right corner of the top menu bar.
    Click on the Spotlight icon.
In the box that opens, type in your search term(s), a space, and .pages, and click on Show All
Spotlight will open a Finder window.
You can refine your search results including where to search This Mac or "Desktop" for example, and whether searching for Contents (words or strings embedded within documents) or Filename.
Now you can choose a document from the results displayed.
Clicking on a filename and pressing the space bar lets you view the document without actually opening the program that created it.
You can control what kinds of documents are/are not indexed by selecting  from the top menu bar, then System Preferences, Personal, Spotlight.

  • Camera raw 8.6 does not have new preview features

Hi, I have just discovered that my version of Camera raw does not have the new preview features (the "Y" split) down the right corner.
I have seen in some tutorial video that the new preview tool look like this,
but my CR 8.6 still has the old preview tool like this,
I am not sure why that is, I am running CR 8.6 on a mac with Photoshop CS6, is the new preview feature only available for CC?
    Thank.

Yes, that is correct that photoshop cs6 and camera raw do not get the new features, just updated camera support.

  • Does Illustrator Have "Golden Ratio", "Rule Of Thirds" And Other Crop Guides Like Photoshop Does?

I recently discovered that the crop tool in Photoshop allows you to cycle through several guides when cropping an image, such as the "Golden Ratio" spiral, or the "Rule Of Thirds" grid and a few more. I don't see anything like this in the crop tool for Illustrator. Does anyone know if this type of feature is buried away within Illustrator as well?

    neohtom,
I am afraid it is buried too deep (in the heap of (im)possibilities) to surface soon.

  • Does dreamweaver have video-website features?

    Hi,
Basically I'm trying to create a site where I can host videos
and the website visitors can stream these videos on my website. I'm
trying to find out if dreamweaver has some useful features built in
    such as the the following:
    >ability for users to post comments
    >ability to allow users to embed the video they are
    watching into a blog
    >ability for users to rate videos and have the average
rating be displayed for each video on its page
    >ability to allow the user to email video link to a friend
    >ability for users to add videos to their "favorites"
    if you go
    here,
you will see that this site has those features.
if dreamweaver doesnt have this type of thing, can anyone
recommend a program that does? btw i've checked out coppermine
gallery and didn't like it, im not sure how to really edit the web
    design with it.
    many thanks in advance!

    quote:
You can create it using dreamweaver or use a third party
    application script.
what do you mean exactly by create it using dreamweaver? you
mean entering the code in dreamweaver, which makes these functions
work? or do you mean that dreamweaver has some kind of support for
these features, in order to simplify the creation of these
    features?
    quote:
What flavor of scripting/server do you want this for?
Well I'm going with a webhosting company, but they don't have
this Clip Share software on their servers. I would most likely have
to buy a license for it so they can install it on their servers.
They do run Linux and offer php/perl/CGI.
So basically it would be easier for me if I could use
dreamweaver or find a dreamweaver plug-in that offers these
video-sharing site features, and allow you to admin it from the
client side (before uploading to the webhost's ftp).

  • Why does Photoshop Creative Cloud does not have "color variation" feature? How do I get it?

I downloaded a free trial version of Photoshop Creative Cloud. It doesn't have the "color variation" option in this photoshop CC. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that it is a free trial. But, How could I obtain the feature? Thanks.

    Hi,
What operating system are you using?
On the windows version it should be Image>Adjustments>Variations
The mac version doesn't have the variations plugin.

  • Does Illustrator have a Gradient Feather tool like InDesign?

CS4...I know it has to be here somewhere, I know the gradient tool in In InDesign but cant find one in Illustrator.  I see the normal feather but it seems to just feather the edges.  I need it to start full on one end and fade out to the other end

Illustrator can feather transparency just as well as InDesign. Better, in fact. But the interface for doing so is convoluted and has long been one of the most asked questions on the forum. Look up Opacity Mask in the help files. Basically, you first create a gradient, gradient mesh, or a number of objects with different grayscale fills, which are then grouped. This object or group is placed above the object, image, or group to be masked and you Make Opacity Mask in the Transparency panel.

  • Does Illustrator have dementia? (CS3, Windows XP)

I use the pen tool a lot for tracing, and most of the time I use a blue .25 point outline and no fill. Why can't AI remember this? For example, if I save the file I'm working on and close AI, when I open AI again, the stroke is set to 1 point, the outline color is set to black, and the fill is set to white. Why isn't it set to what I was using when I last saved and closed?
It is not only when you first open AI that the stroke, outline color, and fill are reset to some arbitrary default either. If you use another tool or function, and then go back to the pen tool, you can find things changed as well. When I select the pen tool, why can't it simply go back to what I was using the last time I used the pen?
I wonder how many hours I've wasted during the forty-eleven thousand times I've clicked on the stroke drop-down menu and selected .25 point, clicked on the stroke color drop-down menu and selected blue, and clicked on the fill color drop-down menu and selected [none].
The same thing happens with fonts. Sometimes it remembers what you were last using if you do something else and come back to the typing tool, but most of the time it figures 12 point Myriad Pro is a better choice.
I have an old version of Adobe Photoshop (version 7) and it remembers everything, even after you close it. I just opened it and it is showing the same shade of red in the "set foreground color" box that I was working with when I last used the program. When I click on the typing tool, it is showing the same 200 point homemade font I was last using. When I click on the paintbrush it is showing the same huge 965 px diameter round brush I was last using, etc.
So what is AI's problem? Is this the way it is supposed to behave? And if so, are there any settings I can change to make it remember certain things?

    Jacob,
I never noticed the pattern, but that doesn't make the situation any better than if it was random. You still have to constantly change the layer color back to the one you want. What purpose does constantly changing the layer colors serve? Did it ever occur to Adobe that a good deal of people out there want the layer color to always be the same; and for the few times that a different layer color is desired, then it can easily be manually selected?
You say that you prefer red, which I assume means that you are constantly having to change the layer color back to red (unless you know of a way to make a new layer always default to red, in which case, I'd like to know what it is). I prefer yellow, so I'm always having to change the layer color to yellow.
I doubt we are the only two people who prefer a specific layer color. In fact, I would guess that it is common for people to prefer a specific layer color. I can see little use for an arbitrary pattern of imposed layer color changes, which is bound to cause a conflict eventually; e.g., when the new layer color matches or closely matches the color of your stroke (or the image you are tracing, if you are indeed, tracing an image), and then you can't see your anchor points or path indicator lines.
