Does SAP increase SM50 ... - trace level automatically?

Hi experts,
   Does SAP increase SM50 ... -> trace level automatically? I find file system is full in application server from time to time and I find trace level increases to 2 from default: 1. Why? How do I prevent from reoccurring?

Hello
These files are work process trace files, this has nothing to do with the system log.
You can restrict these file growth using instance parameter rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING as stated in the here under note.
Check also the value of instance parameter rdisp/TRACE as stated in note 112 - Trace and error information in the "dev_" files

573800 - Reasons for trace files increasing in size
How can I prevent trace files that are increasing in size from filling the hard disk and causing the system to shut down?
- Reset the trace files (as described as Section 1 of note 532918).
- Set the "rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, 10 m" profile parameter

  • How do I increase the trace level of the dev_server file?

    I have a dual stack SCM system and the java stack will no longer start.  I'm seeing some messages in the dev_server0 and dev_server1 files, in the work directory.  But at the top of those files, it says the current trace level is at 1.  I would like to have some further details as to the error.  How do I increase the trace level of these files?  Thank you.
    ~TJ

    You can increase the trace level by changing the instance profile
    set "jstart/TRACE = 3", (this affects the server0 process)
    set "rdisp/TRACE = 2" (this affects the ICM).
    Then Restart the ICM and the server process (e.g. from the SAP MMC -
    there is no need to restart the entire instance),
    hope this helps.

    Can some one help me to fix this issue .

  • How does PrE 9 fix audio levels automatically?

    Hi,
    In one of my projects, I'm combining multiple pieces of footage with different audio levels. I've read somewhere that PrE 9 fixes audio levels automatically. How do I use this? Where is this feature in the app?
    Thanks,
    Sam

    The main thing I want is to make sure that audio level is too high for one footage and then too low on the other. At the end, all the clips are put together to produce a single video and I want the audio to be consistent throughout the video.
    Would I then select all the clips and do what you're suggesting? Do I do this one clip at a time or do I select all at once -- not sure how to do it?
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • Does SAP Web AS ABAP support automatic checking of revocation lists (CRL)?

    Hi,
    At my customer we have the scenario that X.509 client certificates (smartcards) are to be used (for authentication) to access CRM Web Interaction Center from a web browser. As I understand it, this basic scenario is supported.
    But I can find any information that the ABAP stack supports automatic checking against an external CRL. Rather it seems that the valid certificates must be maintained (manually) in the CRM server, which is unwanted by the customer.
    Does anyone know of ways to get automatic checking in the ABAP stack? (using the Online Certificate Status Protocol OCSP, or other method)??
    We also have Portal installation and JAVA stack in the system landscape, and I understand there are ways to perform CRL checks with SAP Java?
    Ideas anyone?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    No, in Web AS 6.20 there is an older version of the ABAP stack without the feature of Web Dynpro for ABAP. On the Java stack Web Dynpro for Java comes with release 6.40 which is supported of course.

  • To check who change the trace level

    Hi All,
    Can anyone please help me how can i get that who change the trace level in system, in our client lot of people have Sm50, St01, St05,ST12 and other trace transactions, and it become difficult to track down who is changing the traces level
    people often change the trace level and forget, and it become difficult to track down the changes,
    can someone help me how can i know that trace level are changed by which user id at what time
    Thanks,
    Dinesh

    I cannot remember the exact names, but if you take look in those transactions (there are more than the ones you have listed..) then you will see a call to FM TH_CHANGE PARAMETER.
    You will see the name of the dynamic profile (and the authority check in it against S_ADMI_FCD action ST0M etc...) there, or some checks performed before the function is called.
    Then take a look in transaction TU02 for the history of the parameters...
    Good luck,
    Julius
    ps: A popular error exists in transaction SMGW: Wanting to dynamically set the gateway logging via the Expert Functions menu, you might be tempted to increase the "Trace level"... This is the ST11 developer trace!!! Rather choose the Security sub menu and activate the gateway specific log there, otherwise your production system might have some performance problems from the developer trace (which is a different local topic of less interest for gateway security....).

  • Work Porcess Trace level - 2 - Any little penalty on Performnace due to it?

    Hello......Experts
    We normally observe , Incidentally on some application server, some one work process Trace level is switched to "2" which in turn shows "YELLOW" in SM50.
    Q1 - When this automatic Trace level is increased  of a Work Process ?
    Q2 - When work process Trace level increased, some extra logging will take place...Will it create any little penalty ( negotiable) on over all application server performance ?
    Rgds
    PR

    Hi PR,
    Q1) The trace level should not increase automatically for a long time. When some processes crashes, the trace is increased automatically just to log this error and then is switched back to 1 (this should not take more than 1 or 2 seconds). There is also a known issue described in note 1515602 where the traces increase automatically.
    Q2) It could have some impact as the system will be constantly recording data on the OS level, you could have some performance degradation due to excessive I/O and also some penalty about disk space.
    Cheers,
    Maurício

  • XSJS Tracing - Trace files do not show trace levels other than 'error'

    Hi!
    I'm doing some experiments with server side javascript tracing on Hana. I created a small xsjs file that searches for some parameters on the web request (first name, last name and email) so I can call a DB procedure later. As I wanted to make sure that client data was arriving to the server properly, I added some trace calls using $.trace as you can see in the snipped below.
    After some time I noticed that just $.trace.error calls were added to xsengine*trc trace files. In other words, information, debug and warnings were not being included on the trace files.
    $.trace.info("INFO: Register_user.xsjs called");
    $.trace.error("ERROR: Register_user.xsjs called");
    if($.request.method === $.net.http.POST || $.request.method === $.net.http.GET) {
        var first_name = $.request.parameters.get("first_name");
        var last_name = $.request.parameters.get("last_name");
        var email = $.request.parameters.get("email");
        $.trace.error("ERROR: First Name:" + first_name);
        $.trace.error("ERROR: Last Name:" + last_name);
        $.trace.error("ERROR: Email:" + email);
        $.trace.warning("WARNING: First Name:" + first_name);
        $.trace.warning("WARNING: Last Name:" + last_name);
        $.trace.warning("WARNING: Email:" + email);
        // send response
        $.response.contentType = "application/json";
        $.response.status = $.net.http.OK;
        $.response.setBody(" { \"message\" : \"User registered successfully\"} ");
      } else {
        // unsupported method
      $.trace.error("ERROR: Method was not POST");
        $.response.status = $.net.http.INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR;
    A small piece of a xsengine*.trc file is shown below.

    Here are my doubts:
    Is there any standard filter for trace calls (which for example would show just error messages as default)? If there is, where to change it?
    Are there separate trace files for each trace level?
    Looking at the beginning of each row on the trace file, are the numbers from the left side of the timestamp somehow relevant to determine what kind of trace leve is shown? What do they mean? (the sequence of [4635]{-1}[-1/-1] )

  • TRACE level

    hello,everyone
      Which T-CODE can adjust the trace level appeared in the sxmb-monitor, for example:
       <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <!--  Response
      -->
    - <SAP:Trace xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30">
      <<b>Trace level</b>="1" type="T">Party normalization: sender</Trace>
      so i want to adjust the trace level from 1 to 3. Which tcode can i enter?

    Hi Amanda,
    this should be easy!
    Go to transaction sxmb_adm ---> integration engine configuration and set the parameter from category Runtime and Subcategory TRACING. You can set this up to "3". However, be careful as your database will grow very quickly. You should only use this for a special purpose/message. Then turn it down to "1" again. If a message is set to error, and you restart it, you will have a pop up asking you whether you would like to increase it to the maximum. In this case the max level trace will only affect the message in question and not every question.
    This should help you.

  • Aperture + Adobe Bridge: does that increase amount of storage per image?

    I recently installed Aperture after using Photoshop CS3 and Bridge for some years. When I import images into Aperture that have already been downloaded into Bridge, does that increase the amount of storage space I'm using and if so by how much? I am saving all files to the same folders but what about the various versions created. How much storage are they taking up. My iMac 24 w. 320 Gig is almost full so storage is important.
    Also, if I start using Aperture 3 to download from my camera, do I need Bridge? Any danger in getting rid of Bridge?
    Thanks,
    Cliff

    Cliff,
    The first question is whether you want to run a Managed or Referenced library. The difference is that Managed copies and stores the images inside the Aperture Library package, where a Referenced library locates the master images in Finder somewhere.
    The import procedure is done in both cases, but you use the 'Store Files' drop-down to tell Aperture where to store the master image files.
    With Bridge, you were probably using 'Photo Downloader' to import the files to a selected folder, name the files using some options for format and counting, and perhaps adding basic or predefined metadata on import. This results in a Finder folder structure of your choosing (as well as file names).
    With Aperture, you can do the same thing by selecting 'Choose' under the 'Store Files' drop-down (where you choose or create a new folder). Once you select a location, two other options become available; (1) to move or copy the files and, (2) to pick a sub-folder preset - or choose 'Edit' at bottom of list to design your own folder preset.
    Once you have your location and folder settings selected, you can then use the 'Import Settings' drop-down to select 'Rename Files' option. This gives you a 'Version Name' drop-down in the pane which you can again select a preset or use the 'Edit' at bottom to design your own.
    The items I listed would allow you to keep working like you have been with Bridge to import your images. If your current folder structure can be replicated in the Folder Naming preset dialog, then you could easily continue as you were with Aperture.
    If you want to run the Managed Library, then importing your folders is possible, but you will need to decide how you want to organize the library structure when compared to your current hierarchy.
    The thing to remember about Aperture is that 'Projects' are the only part that actually contain images (whether masters inside or references to masters outside). So, for example; you could use a 'Blue Folder' named 'Year 2010' and then have a 'Project' for each month under the Blue Folder. You could then make an 'Album' for day inside a month Project.
    The result of the aforementioned structure would be a top level folder which then contains projects for each month (where each project is divided up using Albums). Because Projects are the only thing holding images, the albums use aliases for the various images inside that project. Clicking on a days' album would show just the images of that day, where clicking on the Project name would show all images for that month. The blue folder is just an organization tool to help control the clutter.
    Before mentioning my workflow or suggesting another, I would like to compare Bridge/ACR/PS to Aperture work flow.
    With Bridge, you import and organize images in a folder structure, then add metadata (keywords, personal info, etc.) You can also create collections and smart collections for quick references (which are generated by Bridge when asked, which can be a bit slow with smart collections). You then use ACR plug-in to make 'non-destructive' parameter decisions before sending to Photoshop for rendering and more specific edits and output.
    With Aperture, you import into the library (where most of the processing is done on the front end for previews and database storage). You are then in a one-stop workshop where you just use the Inspector pane and toolbars to add metadata, create albums and smart albums, and add adjustments to the versions. At this point, you are set to decide on any output (using the print, image export or web/book album features).
    In essence, and IMHO, you are changing from three separate programs to one program with three Inspector panes.
    Workflow:
    I use a managed library because I have the disc space. I also like the fact that I can copy the library package once a month (at least) to an external drive and have a full working backup which can be run from that drive or copied onto a new drive and double-clicked to load it. The downside to this approach is space. I typically shoot RAW + JPEG and import just the JPEG's to start > decide on the keepers and reject the rest > import the matching RAW's to the project. I use JPEG as Master, because they are all that is needed in many cases. I can switch to the RAW version at any time if I want something more than the JPEG can provide.
    My first suggestion to you would be to create a new empty library as follows:
    1 - Launch Aperture while pressing the 'Option' (Alt) key
    2 - Select 'Create New' button
    3 - Select a location and name the library with a unique name
    This will allow you to import say a few folders (make sure to copy images, not move) and test out how you want to organize the library. You can always delete the library and start over. Look in to the File Naming and Folder Naming items under 'Aperture menu > Presets' to get a feel for the options you have and perhaps create a custom preset or two. These become options in the 'Rename Files> Version Name' and 'Store Files > Subfolder' drop-downs in the Import Pane.
    Here are a few links from the online User Manual that might help clarify:
    *Import folders of images*:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=9
    Pay special note to the statement under step #5: *"The top-level folder is converted to a project. If the folder you imported contains a hierarchy of subfolders and images, the subfolders appear as albums."*
    That may address your importing of current image folders (or will give you a good test scenario for the empty library).
    *Planning import strategy*:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=3
    *General importing files on computer*:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=5
    *Working with Referenced Images*:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=5%26section=16%26 hash=apple_ref:doc:uid:Aperture-UserManual-91292BSR-1037525
    This last link should give you an overview of the options for working with and troubleshooting a referenced image scheme.
    Okay, that should be enough for you to think about for a few. Feel free to ask more as needed. There are many here who know a lot more than I.

  • Does SAP create missing files TRACExx when starting up?

    Hi there,
    I'm working on a documentation regarding a system copy from a productive system to a consolidation system.
    We're using Sun Solaris 10/64Bit with Oracle 10g2 and Netweaver 7.00.
    In the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS_xx/log there are several files SAP uses:
    - ALALERTS
    - ALMTTREE
    - ALPERFHI
    - ENQBCK
    - SLOGxx
    - TRACE
    - TRACE00...TRACE07
    My question concerns the TRACE-files. Only the file TRACE seems to be used by the consolidation system, but there are still eight files TRACE00 up to TRACE07 that were last accessed in 2008 and before.
    These files are filled with data from former consolidation systems that got overwritten everytime by the system copy. Now, after the new copy, the SAP system is still down. May I delete these files? Does SAP create these files new when starting up?
    Greetz, Uwe.

    Hi,
    Yes you can delete those files at any time. Check SAP Note 16513, it may help you.
    Thanks,
    Sushil
