Does Spotlight tell where on your harddrive files are located?

I use spotlight all the time to search for and open files. But is there a way for it to simply tell you the location of the file on your harddrive once it finds it? So far all I can do is open the file from the Spotlight results, but it doesn't tell me the location of the file.
Thanks!!

One more little goody: if you Command click on an item that Spotlight has found instead of opening the file, it opens the folder the file is in, with the file selected.

If you erased or replaced your hard drive since iWeb was cancelled, then they are gone. Otherwise, if you have maintained backups then check those.
Usually such files are in the /Home/Library/ folder or a sub-folder.
    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.

  • How do I find out where iTunes thinks missing files are?

I have several hundred "missing" files in my iTunes library but they are all actually on the computer. But I don't remember where the were previously. I add dozens of songs at a time to my library all the time and there is no Earthly way for me to constantly remember where they were before. I don't just want to reimport the files because I have several hundred playlists with these files and it would be completely stupid to edit them all one at a time when all I need to do is to move them back to where iTunes thinks they should be. So where is that? The Windows media player has a column that displays file location. Why doesn't iTunes? (This is so stupid. It makes things -not just this- so much easier when you have the file location in the music list in your music player.)
Is there a way to find out where iTunes thinks the missing files should be at?

The exclamation mark means ITunes doesn't think they are anywhere.
If you right click - get info on a song then view the Info tab, you will see where iTunes last used it from.
I'm not a newbie. I know quite a lot about iTunes. You sound like you don't though because if you did you would know that this is not true. If you "right click - get info on a song" (pressing cancel to the Locate popup) "then view the SUMMARY (not info) tab" you will see "Not Available" where the file location usually is. I wouldn't have asked this question if I hadn't gone through the steps already.
Thanks for trying though. Next time, please try the advice before you give it.
I add dozens of songs at a time to my library all the time and there is no Earthly way for me to constantly remember where they were before
You should not have to remember anything about where they were.
    I agree.
Are you always moving them around?
When I install a new hard drive. Yes. I generally keep everything organized and I let iTunes keep the folder organized but several years ago I used windows media player to organize my media.
Frankly I don't know HOW the recent songs/videos/etc. go missing. But some do. Maybe I accidentally move a folder without realizing it. Mistakes happen. Then I need to move it back but since I didn't know I did it in the first place I can't possibly be expected to remember where I moved it from.
Do you have iTunes prefs -> Advanced Keep ITunes music folder organized ticked and Copy files to iTunes ... ticked?
*OF COURSE!* Again, I'm not a newbie.
I have several hundred playlists with these files
Why would you have several hundred playlists?
I don't mean to sound rude but you sound like an Apple fanboy. Are you trying to tell me how I should use my own program? The answer to the question is I am a salsa instructor/DJ and I am constantly adding songs and videos to my library. Every month I have various salsa events, classes and performances that I do. I use my iPhone for the music. I need to maintain the playlists because students/teachers/studios/clubs/bars/churches/etc. call me back and want a repeat of the great salsa night I gave them a year ago. Naturally my playlists are highly organized into folders. So, I still have them and I need them.
Apple has its own ideas about how people should use its stuff but everyone is unique and our needs therefore are unique too. Apple doesn't realize this and still wants us to do things "the Apple way" even though "the Apple way" only works well for people who want their hand held through everything. This is why I say you sound like a fanboy. You don't know my situation and question if I need hundreds of playlists. I do.
I just need an answer to the question.
Thank you for your reply though. It gave me hope, for a time.

Specifies the directory where the log files are located.
By default, the log files are located in the logs directory in the server installation directory.

You can change LOGGER.LOGDIR in fms.ini to your preferred location i.e. D:\fmsLogs and restart FMS.
Now if you want to change for individual logs - you can change in Logger.xml - by default logger.xml will use value from fms.ini

  • I am receiving a message that "your application files are corrupted!

I am receiving the following message "Your application files are corrupted! For security reasons please reinstall the application"
What application is it?  I cannot get further information.

This message is coming from what source?

  • Your application files are corrupted!

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro.  I also have a three year old MacBook Pro that the new one is replacing.  When the new one was removed from the box, it was running fine.  It also asked me some questions concerning it being a replacement, so I said 'sure' and it wanted me to run the Migration Assistant.  So I ran the Migration Assistant for the next four hours.
When it was completed, it said everything was copied successfully.  Now, whenever I log onto the new MacBook, I receive the following error message:
"Your application files are corrupted!  For security reasons please reinstall the application."  Then there is an OK button.
I have tried reinstalling the application files (I think).  Also, it only happens when I logon.  So, I made a new account thinking the account may be the problem, but the new account shows the same error message.  I tried holding down the Shift key until the progress bar appeared, but still no luck.
The old MacBook ran, or still runs fine and error free.  What is my next step?
    Thank you.

    Recovery Mode and reinstall.
    Or erase and reinstall.

    http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
OS X Lion and later let you:
Start from OS X Recovery using your Time Machine backup disk. With OS X v10.7.3 and later, Time Machine backs up the Recovery System on your Mac to your backup drive as well. This lets you use your Time Machine drive to start up your Mac if needed.

    OS X Internet Recovery
Mac models introduced after public availability of OS X Lion include the ability to start up directly from an Internet-based version of the OS X Recovery system. OS X automatically uses this feature when the Recovery System on the hard disk isn't available (such as when your hard disk encounters an issue, or when your hard disk has been replaced or erased). OS X Internet Recovery lets you start your Mac directly from Apple's servers. Starting up from this system performs a quick test of your memory and hard drive to check for hardware issues.
OS X Internet Recovery presents a limited interface at first, with only the ability to select your preferred Wi-Fi network and, if needed, entering a passphrase. Next, OS X Internet Recovery downloads and starts from a Recovery System image. From there, you are offered the same utilities and options as a local Recovery System.
Requirements for reinstalling OS X using Recovery
Reinstalling OS X using OS X Recovery requires broadband access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the Internet from Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation
If you use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X, it installs the version of OS X that originally came with your computer. After installation is finished, use the Mac App Store to install related updates or later versions of OS X that you have previously purchased.

  • Showing Elements Organizer where files are located.

A friend has moved from a Windows OS to Mac.  She paid to have all her files moved from a Windows External Drive to a new Mac external hard.  Now when she opens the Elements Organizer all her folders can't be found.  What is the most efficient way to teach the Elements Organizer where all of the folders are now stored on the new hard drive?
    Thanks for your help.

My itunes imported ones are fine...it is the music files I had on my computer before I downloded itunes. I added these files into itunes, by having itunes seach for music allready on my computer.
I moved the folder from of where those files resided from C: to D:. SO the exclaimation shows up.
If I need to reimport that is ok, but how do I mass delete the files with exclaimations then?
    Thanks!

  • How do I relink my video files when the source files are located in an AVCHD folder structure?

I am using FCP X 10.1.1 and I was completely done with editing a simple multicam video for a choir track and when I was exporting it it failed. I re-opened FCPX and found that there are several missing files, when I had just been working with them just a second ago! I know about relinking video files, but when I try to locate the source files (knowing where they are), the browser will not let me select ACHD file contents to get at the video files. Also, I cannot open the Library file for my project either.
    Here is a snap shot:

If it comes down to it, use clip wrap to carve your .mov files out of the SD. I am confused tho - if you were originally able to import all you needed and still have the original media ? Why can't you do it again to add other clips? To "get in" to your Library, control click on it>show paskage... but do NOT MOVE anything only copy.
Perhaps soeone else can shed light on this?

  • HT201359 I used a gift card but not the whole amount, is this entered as a credit? Where does it tell me the amount left? Are taxes added to the purchase price?

I received a gift card, entered the number and clicked redeem. The book downloaded fine but how doI know how much is left on the card? Is it now a credit? Because I used the one click feature did it go to my credit red instead? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you're using a computer to check, the balance will appear at the top of the iTunes Store window, next to your user name, when you're logged into the iTunes Store. It will be at the upper-left in iTunes 11, and at the upper-right in iTunes 10.x and earlier.
If you're looking on your iPad, go to either the iTunes or App Store app, go to the very bottom of the window, sign into your account, and your balance will then appear below your user ID.

  • Could you (in the next verions of firefox), include a Warning Box, for people deleting "recently bookmarked". It does not tell you that your systematicallly deleting bookmarks that are in other folders.

You should change firefox, or at least have a warning box when deleting "recently bookmarked". I decided to clear that folder out, and then when I went to use a bookmark.. I didn't have any bookmarks in ANY FOLDER at all. I did manage to restore the booksmarks, but easier to just warm people, or just let them clear out the recently bookmarked. It had bookmarks from over a year ago that I had deleted in other folders, but still manage to hang out in the "recently bookmarked" folder. Oh, and if I delete a bookmark in a folder, please have it delete the bookmark in the "recently bookmarked" also.
    == This happened ==

    == Cleaning up my bookmarks

"Recently Bookmarked" is a so called [[Smart Bookmarks folders|Smart Bookmark]] that shows the result of a place query in a list.
"Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" are examples of the so called [[Smart Bookmarks folders]] and are not real existing folders.
Such smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the bookmarks and the history in Firefox 3.
The bookmarks that show up in such smart folder listing are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.
Such lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default and you add a new bookmark or visit a website then a new item is added at the top and the entry at the bottom disappears from that list.
The items that are removed from the list are not gone, but merely do not show up anymore in that list.
Any actions like copy & paste or delete that you perform on bookmarks in such a list are done on the original bookmark.
If you do not want a specific list then remove that query (right-click: Delete), but do not delete the content that is displayed in such a list.

  • Finding where my iweb site files are saved

I need help. My original hd crashed so I have a new one to run my computer. I dragged and dropped all my apps to the new hd as told by a I.T. friend and now I am supposed to format the old hd to use a storage space. Will my website files be gone. Are they actually saved online. Where would I located the actual page files so I can copy them over or did they when I dragged the files over. I have a feeling I am going to have to reinstall all my ilife 06' software but I don't want to start from scratch for my website. I also had to archive and install the new hd because my old one eventually did something to where I couldn't even start from the new one.

As Roddy was trying to tell you, if you found the "domain" file and it's the right one (double click on it and it will start iweb) you can move it to the same folder on the new drive.
Actually you can store it wherever you want. Iweb will look at the last file loaded.
Hopefully what you found is the right file.
If it is BACK IT UP!!
    good luck
