Does XML Actionscript Work in Air? & More!

Hi,
I've tinkered around with Flash and Director a bit, but am totally new to authoring for Air!
I'm looking to create a dual screen application that displays something like a DVD menu on a touch screen, then plays HD .flv files on the other. The other screen likely being a 47" LCD screen or something.
What I'd like to know is, will Air allow me to use XML function actionscript to call up "on-the-fly" subtitles for the .flv movies that are called up?
Also, for dual-display movies, does the resolution have to match?

How does auto update work in AIR 2.5?

Hi,
We are about to deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 in our organization.
To do this we use the following command line
AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted
This works great. But I am not sure how to disable the automatic updates.
When reading the Adobe AIR configuration guide, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/admin/WS485a42d56cd1964167ea49bd124ef17d52a-7ff5.html it says I should create the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AIR\UpdateDisabled and set it to 1.
But when I run the AIR SettingsManager application after I set this registry key it says that automatic updates are enabled.
And if I choose to disable automatic updates from the tool it creates the file %APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\updateDisabled.
How can I make sure that automatic updates are disabled for all users on all the computers we deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 to?
Since we are doing an enterprise deployment it is not really an option to ask each and every user to run AIR SettingsManager every time they logon to a new computer

Does photoshop elements work with air display from avatron?

I want to use photoshop elements with air display from avatron. Its necessary use pressure sensitive.

Photoshop Elements only specifically works with touchscreens when it comes to gestures (moving your finger(s) in a specific motion to get a special behavior). Otherwise, the touch screen should act exactly like a mouse. My guess here is that this is simply a question of precision. If you try to "click" and drag a corner of the crop interface, does the crop rectangle move or rotate instead of change size?

Is it possible to access an AIR Native Extension inside an Actionscript worker?

Hi, I'm currently trying to push off some time consuming tasks to an actionscript worker. This worker will in turn needs to call out to an AIR Native Extension as part of it's processing.
I've tried various combination in Flash Builder 4.7 i.e. embedded worker and external worker (with explicit packaging of the ANE in the external worker project) but alas I've been unable to get this to setup to work. I keep getting an error from the worker saying that the native extesion class could not be found (Error #1014).
Does anyone know if it is at all possible to do this or it's a limitation of Actionscript workers (loading thw swf bytes does not load up the ANE)?

Does Bug Base Work? In regards to AIR

As the title says, does bug base work? I have been following the Bug Base daily checking constantly for updates from Adobe staff in regards to many currently present bugs that IMO left unfixed make this platform more unreliable as time goes on.
It seems Adobe is very active in releasing updates to the AIR framework, but with each release I am time and time again disappointed to discovered my bugs have not yet been fixed.

Also, I know for a fact I'm not the only one who's inbox is completely flooded with votes for the "Adobe AIR support for windows Phone 8 Required". Because if you decide to track other bugs, it's an all or nothing for recieving email updates about bugs. What exactly is Adobe waiting for? At the time of writing this there are 289 votes. Do they need 9000? How many more months of vote emails do I need to recieve before they do anything? or at least recognize this is CLEARLY a feature the community wants and give some kinda of hint to the result of the voting.

If you're referring to the FDK development environment .. it's the same as it was in FM9 as far as I can tell.
The win32 DLL should work fine with FM10 server and desktop.
I'm not sure what you mean by the recommended technology for customizing FrameMaker. There are a number of options, and it depends on what you want to do and what type of expertise you've got at your disposal. Options are ..
- FDK (C libraries)
- ExtendScript (new with FM10)
- FrameScript (requires 3rd party client plugin)
- FrameAC (another 3rd party development environment)

FIX:
1. You need Time Machine
2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

Yes, it is a Bluetooth device. However, my iPad will not connect to the mouse. Not sure why.
I use my iPad as my personal computer. Mainly for surfing the web, social media, paying bills online... I already have a Bluetooth keyboard that connects to the iPad, so thought it would be nice to have a mouse.

I'm running Lion fine on my 2008 MBP (4,1. 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB) and late 2009 Mini (2.0GHz C2D, 8GB.) Minimum RAM for Lion is 2GB, but IMHO you really want 4GB. If you have a lot of apps open (or have demanding apps like Photoshop,) then get more RAM if you machine can handle it.
Also, make sure the rest of your apps or drivers are up to date before upgrading. Incompatible drivers for things like printers and such are what I've found to cause a lot of stability problems.

The ones that I have tried fail to work when making the final
AIR app.

I changed the profile of both to AIR2.0, and it still shows AIR1.0 in the properties panel. I'm able to publish the Panel.swf now but it also generates an unwanted panel-app.xml -- unwanted because panel is not an app, it's merely a SWF to run inside the main app.
Is there a better way? And why does it still say AIR1.0 in the properties panel?

Does anyone know when Macbook Airs had matte screens?

I own a mid-2011 13" Macbook Air. I purchased this computer through th Apple website and went through all of the customization options maxing out whatever was available to me. At the time, there was the option to choose a matte or a glossy screen (this is not offered now - just glossy). I chose matte because I had heard about eye strain stories and was uninterested in a glossy screen, especially one just created with a coating (not glass). I have used my computer ever since and it definitely had a matte, anti-glare screen. Nothing like the glossy screens that are offered now. I recently had the screen replaced due to some problems, but they replaced it with a glossy screen. The Apple store is now insisting that it is impossible I ever had a matte screen, as it was never offered, and that I am just making this up, or too stupid to know what screen I was using for 2.5 years, or that it's actually the same screen and I just think it's glossy now because it's "new". I am extremely upset that I'll have to be using a glossy screen now, but more upset at the way Apple has treated me over this.
I wanted to see if anyone else has a non-glossy Macbook Air screen (not a screen protector/anti-glare filter cover thing) or knows anyone who does. My screen did not have the sharp reflections that it does now, I saw it next to a glass screen every day that I used it and the difference was striking. I could sometimes get the purplish not-sharp reflections that did not impede viewing, but nothing like it has now. If anyone else had/has a screen on their macbook air that was anti-glare/matte, please let me know. I know that the Apple Support page for this model of computer states it is only offered in glossy (then, and now).
