Doh! M93P tiny - Too late for additional i/o: DisplayPort to HDMI or DisplayPort to DisplayPort?

When customizing my M93P I think I've misinterpreted the options under "Additional I/O".
Now I believe choosing "DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable" or "DisplayPort to HDMI Video Adapter Converter" would have actually given me an additional port above the VGA port?
I thought they were just adapters for the existing DisplayPort.
Is it possible to source a part and install it myself?

  • Too Late for Mac OS Extended Journaled??

Hi guys! So i got a another firewire HD, 250GB by acomdata. It's formatted under FAT 32 for both windows and mac, after after reading several posts, it's best to format it under mac os extended. the problem is I already put about 30 GB of files on it. Is it too late for me to reformat it? do i have to remove all the files, then do it? If someone can provide step by step instructions that won't harm my files, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

You understand that if you reformat the drive for Mac OS Extended that you will no longer be able to use the drive on a PC?
If you do reformat the drive you need to do so as follows:
1a (If this is the startup drive.) Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu if using Tiger.) Be sure to use the installer disk for the version of OS X you intend to install.
1b (If this is a non-startup volume or external drive.) Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.

  • Too early for the retina, too late for the non retina? Which one?

    Hi everyone,
Sorry for yet another "Which MBP should I buy" post but I have read through all the of the discussions I can find on this topic as well as around the web.
I am a digital designer who is currently using a PC only because up until now I have never been in the financial position to transition over to Mac.
I am currently trying to decide between getting a a 15" Mac Book Pro or 15" Retina Mac Book Pro.
    15-inch: 2.6GHz
    2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    750GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
    High res anti-glare screen
    versus:
    15-inch: Retina display
    2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    512GB flash storage1
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
I will be using Adobe CS6 Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver sometimes all at the same time. I occasionally have a video project where I will be using Premiere and After Effects. I am also looking into upskilling myself and becoming versed in at least basic 3D modelling. I am looking at a MBP because portability is important.
Given my job, going retina seems like a no brainer but I have a few concerns:
Speed, processing power - which will suit my needs?
This is an investment for me, I want it to last at least 3-4 years:
Is getting a standard MBP now just too late and bidding in the past?
Will resale of a standard MBP suck in 3-4 years?
In 3 years time will I need an upgrade, and if so, how will I even do this with a virtually unupgradeable (from what Ive read) Retina MBP?
About 80% of the time I plan on hooking up the MBP to a Thunderbolt display - whats the point in a Retina?
If I don't get a Retina and I need to start designing Retina graphics, will I be faced with added dificulty because I use standard MBP?
Is it realistic to assume Retina graphics won't become mainstream for 3-4 years allowing me to bide my time with a standard MBP, upgrading to a Retina later?
At work I use a 2-3 year old iMac and the screen is already magical compared to my PC and it seems to do fine for me. I've been in store and played with both and I am genuinely confused. I just feel like getting a standard MBP is like jumping on a train when it's already reached it's destination.
Budget wise I can afford the base level Retina MBP I outlined above but if I can save money, that'd be ideal. Being me I will automatically chose the best possible solution but I need to be rational about my needs. Someone please help, I just want a Mac!
Thanks in advance, any help is much appreciated

    In general
Retina cannot upgrade RAM.  Storage can be upgraded, but more $ than upgrading the non-Retina unit.
Non-Retina unit can upgrade RAM  base-4 GB to 16 GB for about $85 (cf. OWC.)  HD can be replaced with SSD or larger HD.
Therefore lack of "upgradability" in Retina
    No optical drive in Retina.
The non-Retina has  Ethernet and FireWire ports, and a slot for a secure cable- the Retina  none of these ports.

  • Am I too late for the hard drive recall replacement program?

I have one of the iMac Seagate 1tb drives that has potential to go wrong. I never sorted it out because I had no time machine in place etc. It seemed like a real hassle to have it all backed up at the apple store. However, time machine is now in place, and I've only just remembered about the replacement program. I know they extended it until April, but where would I stand now with regards to replacement? Simply, too late?
I'm almost full on my 1tb hard drive too. Can i also ask what you would do, take it in and get an extra internal drive? I like the speed of having all data internally, but should I just be using external drives once the 1tb internal drive is full?
    Thanks.

the program runs through 4/12/13 or 3 years from the original date of purchase whichever is later. the following link takes you to the website that provides detailed information about the program:

  • Is it too late for me to upgrade?

    Overview:
I bought my MacBook (13.3 inch, Black) late June of 2007, making it a little over 5 years old.
My OS X is currently 10.4.11 and hasn't been upgraded in, obviously, years.
Of course it annoyed me that I couldn't download certain things or upgrade my applications but, I put up with it because I thought it would be too much of a hassle to go to the Apple store and buy it - plus did I really need to spend how ever many dollars to change something that worked fine enough? So, the years went by....
Recently, I have needed to buy programs and software that require 10.5 or newer (for example, I just recieved a new iTouch as a gift) and I am sort of panicking.
Now, I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to upgrade to 10.5 because the newer Macbooks have a new Intel chip... or something like that, I can't remember what I read exactly, so it wasn't compatiable anyway. Maybe I read it wrong or the person was mistaken or I misunderstood (that tends to happen a lot with me) or etc.
I know that I cannot buy the 10.5 disk at the Apple store anymore and that I will need to buy it on ebay or amazon or some other seller.
But, I am still worried that I will not be able to upgrade my OS, and there is no room in my budget to buy a new computer.
Can someone help quell my worried mind? Haha.
One more thing - if I AM able to upgrade to a higher OS X, can I just skip to the most recent one? Or is there some way I can buy a bundle of the past OS Xs and by pass all this nonsense of having things not work for me because I am not fully up-to-date and possibly save some money?
    Thank you in advanced!

Hello, you could do 10.5.x with a Retail Install Disc, but expensive.
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=mac+os+x+leopard+retail+10.5
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
Lion/10.7 is gone apparently, & 10.8 is not so great.

  • FCP6 - been advised to use ProRes HQ but am too late for that I think

    Hi Guys
I'm really confused and a bit bewildered - would really appreciate any thought whatsoever on the following.
For some bizarre reason I can't figure out yet, my rapid-edits sports sequences blur/ghost from frame to frame (like a bad frame blending) when I preview the sequence on my Dell monitor from my FCP Canvas. Also, when I choose to export to a Quicktime file using current settings, the blurring/ghosting is preserved once I view the burned DVD.
However, if I choose to select Pro Res 422 as my choice of Quicktime export file instead of keeping current settings, the ghosting seems to go away upon viewing the eventual burned DVD.
My sequence is in a standard Apple ProRes 422 Timeline. Field Dominance Upper. 25fps. HD(1440x1080)
I filmed on a PAL Canon XHA1 50i and captured this as standard Pro Res 422.
I checked the item properties of the sports clips and they match the timeline settings.
    1. I have a couple of Motion clips elsewhere in the sequence which have frame size 1920 x 1080, Field Dominance None - could that cause a problem?
    2. Is there a danger of losing any picture quality by choosing to export to a standard ProRes 422 1440x1080 Quicktime file rather than choosing to export using 'current settings'?
3.I have been kindly advised to recapture as ProRes HQ but this isn't really feasible for me since I'm at soundmix stage of a 50 minute project (118 one hour tapes). The video for each of the 30 second sports sequences occurs across 3-5 tapes each.
    4. My main concern is that by choosing to export my QT file as standard ProRes 422 1440x1080, since it doesn't seem to ghost when I watch the video on my DVD player, will 'locking it' as standard ProRes 422 1440x1080 when I export ensure it won't ghost when playing the DVD on other people's machines?
    5. If I really must, is there a way of only* re-capturing the sports footage as ProRes HQ and somehow combining that into my standard ProRes timeline with all the other footage that doesn't blur?
If you can can offer any tips at all I'd really appreciate it.
    Warm regards
    Peter

My guess is you've shot HDV? And your sequence is HDV Native? HDV is an interframe compression. When things change too fast, HDV sometimes can't keep up. That's my guess about your mushy frames.
When you're exporting ProRes (an intraframe format), the frames are all compressed individually.
My advice - export as ProRes and make your DVD that way. By exporting any format, you don't affect the sequence itself.
You can media manage the quick cut sequences, recapture as ProRes, then cut them back in, but if your ProRes export works, don't bother...

  • Too late for this to be on the Blackberry Playbook new OS 2??

Will we be able to find our Blackberry phones (if they get misplaced or lost) using the Blackberry PROTECT program on the Blackberry Playbook? With all of the excitement in the air for the anticipation of the new OS 2...I was wondering if the possibility for that useful program will be available as an app for the Playbook?
Also...(Just to get a little bit more greedy on the thought)...will we be able to locate our Playbooks using the same program with the help of our laptops or desktop computers, or Blackberry phones?
    Thanks.

That is exactly what I am saying, you do not need any apps, with the Playbook, just use the browser and go to the Blackberry Protect web site and you can do the same thing as if you are using a computer (laptop or desktop), so why bother with an app when you can already do it using what is on the Playbook
BTW. I am doing that since day one on the 19 April 2011, I even can use the Blackberry Travel web site

  • Am I really too late for the free Mountain Lion upgrade?

    Hi,
I bought my new MBP retina on June 13th, and just discovered I should've ordered Mountain Lion before August 26th.
Is it really true I have no chance of getting a free upgrade to Mountain Lion anymore?
I just can't imagine this being true. 30 days is not a long time (I was on vacation for 3 weeks in August!), and I've
never gotten a message or an alert from Apple to order within 30 days when it came out.
I hope someone can enlighten me.

  • Too late for this user?

    Hi,
in filr1_admin.pdf, page 34, it's mentionned that if a user logs in before his net folder Proxy info is set up, "the Home directories are not created correctly...". So, what can be done in this case (apart from reinstalling Filr)?
I have (at least) one user in this situation. I am not allowed to delete this entry via the Filr console. Synchronizing LDAP won't help.
    Thanks,

When you say you aren't allowed to delete this user via the Filr
console, do you mean that you get some sort of error or something? Or
do you mean your organization's policies simply prohibit you from doing
    this?

  • I never heard about the Macbook recall for cracked casing along the bottom of the keyboard. Is it too late to get it fixed?

I never heard about the Macbook recall for cracked casing along the bottom of the keyboard. Is it too late to get it fixed?

I realise maybe your personal issue was sorted, but it may help others:
I took my wife's 3-year old Macbook into the genius bar yesterday expecting to pay for a new casing, but was told there was still an extended warranty for Macbook plastic case (provided up to 5 years old and no signs of abuse)
They will replace the top case and screen bezel at no cost, which I think is excellent service.

Is it too late to fix it, or is there a place I could bring it to? I don't want to get a new one. The ipod is really important to me, it has been with me forever, and there is important stuff on it.

There are companies that specialize in data retrieval but it's costly (probably cheaper to buy a new iPod) and more than likely as Allan said, your circuits are probably damaged beyond all hope of retrieving anything. It's worth calling Apple you maybe able to get a discount or a refurbished iPod. Can't hurt to ask, Good luck. (And in the future... no texting in the john.) Sorry, couldn't resist it.

All Updates to Snow Leopard are gotten from Software Update or from the Apple download site.
There is no Snow "LION". there is Lion and now Mountain Lion buit both of those are Download Only from the Mac App Store. You need to have Snow Leopard 10.6.6, .7 or .8 to have the Mac Apple store link on your Mac.
To get Lion you need to call the Apple Store, 1-800-MYAPPLE, and order it. They will send you a download code to your Apple ID Email address so you can download it from the Mac Appl Store.
Oh and when you call them to order Lion ask about returning Snow Leopard.
