Double calendars only on the iPhone

I really have a lot of problems with my calendars ever since .Mac went to MobileMe.
First of all, every event and calendar I ever created since 2004 is on the MobileMe server, and I cannot get rid of it. I've been emailing with the MobileMe Support Desk and that's still in progress. Problem is only with me.com and the iPhone not on my iMac calendar, so now I manually deleted all the events on me.com, and tat looks fine. But now the iPhone.
I've two categories on the iPhone:
One is called "On My iPhone" and the 2nd is that of "MobileMe". Because of this, everything is double (we are talking about 100 to 200 events a day).
How can I delete the "On My iPhone" category?
I deleted the MobileMe account several times, Replace, Merge the MobileMe sync. Did a couple of Factory Reset on the iPhone, any suggestions?

This email from the MobileMe Support solved the problem for me:
Greetings George,
Jerry here from MobileMe Support. I understand that you are having troubles with your calendar events duplicating on your MobileMe account (on me.com) and on your iPhone. However your iMac has all the correct data. I understand this can be rather frustrating and I'd be more than happy to help.
I would like to recommend some troubleshooting steps. The first would be to turn your iPhone's syncing (push) features to the off status at least in regards to your Calendars. You can go to the "Settings" > "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and then tap on your MobileMe account. There you will see the sync features and you'll want to disable the "Calendars" one.
After doing that, if you haven't already on your iMac I would highly suggest backing up data information seeing as the iMac contains all of your up-to-date and correct information. Here's an informative article on how;
How to back up MobileMe data
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1813
After you have backed up your information and turned the calendar syncing "Off" on the iPhone I would like you to remove your MobileMe Account from your iPhone temporarily.
1) Remove your MobileMe account from the iPhone by going into your "Seettings" > "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars".
2) Scroll to the bottom where you will see in a red box, "Delete Account", select that and confirm.
Then I would like you to go to your MobileMe account on www.me.com and if you are currently logged in, please log out of MobileMe by clicking on the "Log Out" in the upper-right hand corner of the screen.
Before proceeding, you may find it helpful to print this email so that you can consult it during this process.
After you have backed up your data, reset the sync history in your Mac OS X user account:
1. In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu, then double-click iSync.
2. Choose Preferences from the iSync menu.
3. Click the Reset Sync History button.
4. When the window opens to confirm the reset, click Reset Sync History.
5. Close the Preferences window.
6. Quit iSync.
7. Restart your computer.
After your computer starts up, attempt to sync with MobileMe again. If your information syncs correctly to your MobileMe account by going to www.me.com and logging back in to your MobileMe account, and click on the "Calendar" button on the top-left and check your events.
then go ahead and to be sure, create some new data on your iCal and sync it with MobileMe. If that goes through successfully. Then go ahead and re-add your MobileMe account to your iPhone and enable the Calendar Syncing (push). Allow a few moments for the information to sync all the way to the phone.
Should you experience any more issues, please reply to this email for further assistance.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you. You may receive an AppleCare survey email; any feedback you provide would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jerry

  • Why do I have multiple "birthdays" on Calendar only on my Iphone?

Why do I have multiple "birthdays" on Calendar only on my iPhone?

It is probably related to your calendar syncing with certain services and/or apps that end up duplicating the entries. Investigate your sync settings like iCloud, facebook, etc or apps like Cobook which can sync your contacts/to facebook and gmail contacts. The birthdays for all of those would then show up in ical. If there is some kind of redundancy happening it might even resync the same info from the same place multiple times. If you can zero in on a particular service or app that might be the cause, try temporarily unsyncing it to ical/address book and see what happens.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

  • I have two libraries on separate computers. If i turned itunes match on in both computers would the two libraries merge? So if my iphone normally syncs with my laptop would i still only get the iphones library or would i get both as one?

Yes, the two libraries should merge. However, you need to turn on match on one computer and let it finish before adding the second library.
Once you turn march on n your phone then you don't sync it with iTunes, but the merged library will show up on the phone. If you don't turn on match on your phone and continue to sync then all of the music from both libraries should be available to sync to it.
The only bit I can't confirm is what happens if you try to sync music to the phone which isnt actually downloaded into iTunes. Im not in a position to test that, but maybe someone else can help.

I think the warning is very clear.
What warning? Where do you say that this plan you suggest will lose at least some, and possibly a whole lot of metadata, plus  the original files of edited photos. This is significant dataloss. And you should warn people that this is the case.
While your metadata and originals may not be important to you, that is not necessarily the case for other users.
Fourthly, and last, cleaning the iPhoto library should be done at least once per year
This is nonsense. The iPhoto Library has no need of "cleaning" and certainly not in any way that trashes a whole lot of data.
I'm very impressed that you assess the application based on the sound of the name. It's not a common way to review applications, but I'm sure it has some merit.
FWIW it has been recommended on this - and other - sites for many years and has proven safe and effective.

  • Do Apple apps work on the iPad or only on the iPhone?

Do Apple apps work on the iPad or only on the iPhone?

Most apps are designed for both devices.  Some apps are only designed for the iPhone but will work on the iPad - when used on the iPad you get a small screen that looks like an iPhone (rotation etc... is also more restricted like an iPhone).  Some apps only work on the iPad which are specifically designed for the iPad screen real estate - I have a mariner navigation app like that - use it when crossing the Great Lakes on my sail boat.  When you go into the App Store you will note that you can search for iPhone apps or iPad apps.

There does not seem to be  much useful information on cloud related matters.  I will eventualy uptae to Lion but not for a while. Meanwhile I would like to know
if my calendar, etc on the iphone were I to update to ios5 and cloud would  synch satisfctory (usul caveat) with my snow leopard imac not cloud connected?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • How do you add an attendee to a calendar event on the iphone 4

I want to be able to add calendar events directly on my iphone 4 and add attendees to these events in the similar way I can do this with my
Blackberry.  How does one do this?

As for gdgmacguy, don't be so naive, of course Apple read every comment made on here, and my purpose for posting was pretty obvious, I thought I had missed the obvious ability to add attachments to typed out emails - thanks for the link to Apple feedback for the iPhone.
High ranked members of these forums are occasionally invited to town hall meetings with the wonderful Apple employees that created and manage these forums. As someone who has been able to interact with them directly I can say for certain that there is only a handful of staff. The do not spend all day reading posts and they rely on community policing. Apple does however read every submission to the feedback channel.

  • HT2480 Is there a way to clear the calendar invitations from the iPhone invite inbox when the Meeting is accepted by a delegate?

I am running an Exchange / Outlook 2010 environment with many mobile users accessing email and calendars with iPhones.  Senior Executives have delegated their Calendars to Executive Assistants, who manage them mostly from Outlook.  When Meeting requests arrive for the executives, their assistants Accept, Decline or mark as Tentative as the calendar allows.
The executives have only their mail account on their iPhone.  The assistants have both their account and the executive's Exchange ActiveSync account on their phones.  When the request is handled and a Send Response Now is submitted, the calendar invitation does not get cleared from the Senior Executive's Calendar invitation inbox, or the Calendar invitation inbox on their assistant's phone (which is to say, the Senior Executive's Calendar, which is a secondary calendar at this point) but it does show up properly on their Calendar.  It seems the cache doesn't know that the request has been handled and does not clear the flag.
Other than turning off the Calendar, deleting the ActiveSync data and downloading fresh data, is there a way to correct this?  I have tried multiple switches and settings, notifications, etc.  I have even dabbled in Outlook's Rules, since this is where the delegation occurs.  Once a Meeting is accepted, how can it be cleared in the inbox?  This is not a badge, as I've turned off badges.
It affects not only the iPhone 4 and 5, but also iPads and iPad Minis running iOS 6.0.1 or better.

I have similar issue.  Sharing calendars in the house hold and when I did it lit up my calendars inbox with 21 messages and no way to clear them. Hope this is fixed in the next iOS release.

  • Google Calendar (gCal) and the iPhone - is this even possible

Is it possible for me to configure gCal to work with the iPhone Calendar application? Are there any restrictions (I.e. view only, etc?)
    Much thanks in Advance!
    -Sig

You can do it, it takes a bit of work.
(THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE USEFUL IF YOU HAVE AN APPLE COMPUTER!)
I did it like this -
I have a Mobile Me account, so my iPhone calendar syncs automatically to Mobile Me.
I have iCal on my iMac desktop machine set to sync with Mobile Me also.
(So, so far, my iPhone and desktop iCal always match)
THEN: Use Spanning Sync - this is a 3rd party app that you install on your computer. It allows you to sync in both directions (to and from) Google Calendar.
You just give Spanning Sync the info about your Google Calendar, and it syncs it with the iCal on your computer. Then MobileMe syncs your computer with your iPhone. It works great, because I can put things onto my iPhone calendar, and they'll show up on my work calendar and my home calendar, so my family AND my coworkers can keep abreast of my schedule, and even update it for me if necessary! (Every now and then I'll get a new calendar appointment that says "2:00pm today: Buy chocolate for your wife"!)
    Hope that's useful!

  • Not only is the iPhone 6 unlocked, but the t-mobile phones work on verizon!

if someone makes a youtube video or writes a news story about my post, this time around i really would appreciate some credit.  saying rigor mortis  from apple discussions' is good enough.
it turns out that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus model numbers #1459 and #1522 are universal. and both have the CDMA radio enabled. However, Sprint models are still separate as far as i know. i did not test Sprint. but as far as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, go , it is the EXACT same phone. i was playing around with my iPhone 6 on launch day. i wanted to see if "ask maggie" was right and the phone was locked to a specific carrier. i tried the T-Mobile and AT&T sims that i had. they do not have service.
however when i inserted my LIVE and ACTIVATED Verizon Sim into my iPhone 6 , my iPhone suddenly became a verizon iPhone. i was able to Place and Receive calls using CDMA, i was able to use DATA services, and i was able to send SMS messages. i assumed that VoLTE was not enabled. and it  was not. i assumed
that you had to buy a Verizon model to get Volte. but i was wrong. it just took a while to activate. and i did see use VoLTE in settings, for Voice and DATA
however, since the IMEI and MEID serial numbers are not listed with Verizon, you are not able to either Sign up to verizon, or to transfer service to your new iPhone 6. your service is still tied to your SIM card. and when the iPhone 6 is running and active with your sim card, your device listed on "MY Verizon" will be shown as NON VZW device and it will only show the sim card. but a pre-activated sim card pulling from another device will work in the iPhone 6.
this is just like the iPad Air and the iPad Mini Retina. the only difference between these phones is the serial number is put in some list that tells someone which
carrier it supposed to belong to, and if it is locked or not. and which sim card came with the device. other then that. there are no technical differences between them. except for sprint of course.
whenever i inserted a new sim card into the iPhone 6, it automatically got carrier settings and changed its baseband.

the iPhones 5, 5c and 5s, were all shipped with CDMA disabled in GSM iPhones. this is the first iPhone ever to come out where the CDMA radio was not disabled. that is why i posted this thread. because a lot of people assume that the CDMA is still disabled and they are repeating things from previous models of the iPhone, without bothering to check. if i have offended you by wanting to post a message so more people would know what exactly that LTE page says then I apologize. Heck, I'm seeing a lot of web pages like modern reader that are still telling people they have to wait a few months for apple to release the unlocked iPhones.
    which is totally untrue.
here is a good thread where you can see people just assuming that the CDMA was disabled. and the phones had different base bands.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19926968&posted=1#post19926968
the iPhone 6 sees your sim card and as long as its unlocked, downloads the new baseband on the fly. i don't know if this is a new feature
with all the viral news about bend gate, i don't understand why you seem to want to criticize my positive post and suggesting that apple gives away this information. with all the bad news about bend gate and 8.0.1 bugs. its very hard for a single person like me to get a positive iPhone experience out and offer iPhone tips.
when the iPad air and iPad mini retina came out, the universal support of T-Mobile - Verizon - AT&T and even sprint (under some circumstances) was big news. but now that we have bend gate and iOS 8.0.1 and bloggers who are just copying and pasting what the other blog says. no one seems to notice that the CDMA is turned on.

    OK Vicky, good clues...
    See if this helps...
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.
Resetting your keychain in Mac OS X...
If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

  • Is there a better calendar app for the iphone?

I have the iphone. Love it! But, I am coming over from the blackberry and I am use to the calendar functionality like scheduling To-Do's,accept or decline meeting invites, set priorities to your meetings and setup a daily meeting that skips the weekends. What I'm looking for is either the ability to sync with all of my outlook features like To-do's or purchase a application that can will expand the current iPhone calendar function. I'm even willing to abandon outlook to get this working. I know this may sound ignorant to apple users but, does iCal work on windows vista or xp and is it a better replacement for outlooks?
    Message was edited by: macruzin

Wish I had better news, but there's really no way to sync Outlook To-Do's with the iPhone. iCal does not run on anything other than Mac OS X, but even so, the To-Do list in iCal does not sync with the iPhone either (if that's any consolation).
There are a few task manager-type apps in the App Store, but the major limitation is that 3rd party apps do not run in the background, so to get task/event reminders, you'd have to have that app open all the time.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
