I'm starting to think the problem is on my side as I was having hard freezes a while ago. I thought it was heat related but recently I started to get occasional hard freezes. It might be hardware related. I'll test my memory with memtest86+.
Does anyone else have these kind of "glibc: double free or corruption" errors?

Yes, I didn't searched as these glibc error are quite generic (can happen with lots of apps). I am more interested in knowing if people had problem with cvs especially or with several apps.

Thanks, I did used this variable when trying to debug scorched3d but I had forgotten about it. cvs now works. I will still do the memtest and perhaps have the laptop checked.

This is an extension of the following thread but brings up problems of its own.
PANIC: fatal region detected, run recovery
I wrote a Python script to upload all my XML files to a container. Earlier I was adding the document without transaction and it went OK. But on querying the container, I got all kinds of error as mentioned in the previous thread.
As suggested, I changed the code to use transaction while inserting the document. Now it fails while inserting the first document itself with error:
Logic index added
Status index added
Difficulty index added

If I change line 35 with line 36 then everything is ok.
Each of my XML document is around 3-10MB and there are around 10000 of them.
So is it a bug with Python library? I have been trying for last 3 weeks to get all the documents up in the container and query it but I always end up having some error or the other.
Is there anyway I can upload all my 10000 docs without any problem and query it?
I looked into dbxml_dump and dbxml_load and it seems that dbxml_load only understands dbxml_dump format which I dont know how it works.
Any help?

Thanks for pointing that out. It makes sense to at least have a flag that allows dbxml_load_container to continue after a bad document.
As for the python/glibc issue -- I cannot reproduce it using your script, using either of the optional lines (35/36). If you really want to debug this, you might look at using gdb and/or valgrind to get more information (if you're on linux).

comes from trying to free allocated memory that doesn't exist. This program worked before but I am not sure what would be different. There may be a bad upgrade. Anyways, I cannot make heads or tails of the backtrace and memory map. Anyone know where the offending library could be?

Since this is happening with the same program then it probably does have something to do with the program or a library, however if you have recently changed the memory in your PC then it can also cause things like this to happen. In fact, adding a certain stick of ram to my PC was the only time I've ever seen a message like this appear

Enabled Memory Access Mode button to enable this feature, after about 10 mins, EM crashes, and getting error message: "*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x0833df48 *** on linux server.
As anyone come across this error message before, if they did any solutions/ideas.
I have gone into metalink, couldn't find any information on this.
Can anyone help...

Found the same thing on one of my clients machines.
Different architecture x86_64. So it seems that there is a problem in the DBConsole.

I checked the forum, but I noticed that on anyone encountered this problem.

CS5 Mac - memory error "double free"

I ported out InDesign Plugin from CS4 to CS5 and now I have an error "malloc: *** error for object .....: double free" in the mac version.
I started porting to CS5 with the Windows version, I made a new project file with dollyxs and added all source code files and libraries. I had to make a few changes in the code, but I had a working version for Windows very fast.
After that I copied the source files to the Mac, created a new project for Xcode and added the source files. I can compile and link, but after starting I have this 'double free' error.
I downloaded debug version of InDesign CS5 and now I have a debugger window with a thread list (many function names I don't know). And no idea how to continue.

The error message is visible in the debugger console. Any ideas what I can do to find the object that causes the error?

I almost hate saying it, cause I really don't care if I get points for solving someone's problem, but I have realized the other benefit of giving these points. As I am searching for other problems with my system it is difficult to follow any advice from previous posts unless I can determine if the problem was solved within the duration of the thread.

This kind of crash can be due to referencing a string object after its lifetime has ended, or due to heap corruption.
The most common sources of heap corruption are
- using an invalid pointer
- uninitialized
- dangling (points to object that no longer exists)
- incremented or decremented outside object bounds
- points other than to an object start address
- deleting an object more than once
- reading or writing outside object bounds
- failing to guard a shared object in multithreaded code
- race condition in multithreaded code
The program failure usually occurs far away in space and time from the actual error condition.
You might also have run into a bug in the compiler or in system libraries. (You do not have the current Studio 11 patches.)
First, try running under the dbx with Run-Time Checking enabled:
% dbx myprogram
(dbx) check -all
(dbx) run
RTC will report many of the error conditions listed above.
Sun Studio 12 has a thread analyzer, which can help find race conditions in multithreaded code. You could download Studio 12 and try it out. If you do not need to run on Solaris 8, you can upgrade to Studio 12.
Whether you stay with Studio 11 or upgrade to Studio 12, you can get all the current patches here:
http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/patches/
At minumum, get the current C++ compiler patch, the Common compiler patch, and the C++ Runtime LIbrary patch.
By following the links to the patches, you can see a list of bugs fixed since the patch levels you currently have.

User Free Busy Corrupted

We are running Exchange 2007 SP3 RU15 and IE11 -17501
We have a user that when viewing / making an appointment using OWA the attendees' free/busy information appears on top of hers.
For example the user creates a meeting and her free busy is listed next to her name.
She then invites an attendee and their name appears below hers BUT their free busy appears on top of (her) the organizer's Free/Busy. It does this for all attendees. It does this from different workstations.
Outlook 2010 works as expected but this is not necessarily an option for her.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Disable this User's Mailbox and then Reconnect/Enable it.
Move this user’s mailbox to other mailbox database.
Switch to another browser to check this issue.
Please check are there any corrupt recurring meetings on this user's calendar.

FFmpeg crash when recording desktop

I'm using x264-git and ffmpeg-svn from AUR. I am attempting to record usage of xcalc as an example of using FFmpeg to capture a specific application on the desktop. However, FFmpeg will always crash at certain resolutions, but it will encode if I change the resolution from -s 228x332 to -s 232x332. I asked at #ffmpeg and nobody was able to replicate this. My system is i686.
Can anyone confirm this behavior?

I just started using GB for the very first time last night and began experiencing the same symptoms several hours into the session and it has not stopped despite a reboot. It hangs about 75% of the time after I record a track or when I try to save. Interestingly, I can still play the keyboard and hear sounds despite the spinning beach ball preventing me from doing anything through the GB GUI. I also need to use a Force Quit. I'm using a Keystation 49 (not the 49e).
I'm a recent first-time Mac owner (I've only had it for about two weeks now) and am disappointed with the problems that I've had so far. I still like it more than Windows, but it's sure not because it's more stable.

it seems OS package version conflict
Please check glibc and openmotif version (its responsible for reports)
and
Set the environment variable MALLOC_CHECK_=0 and bounce the Concurrent Managers
MALLOC_CHECK_ can be changed in two places :-
1. Add this to the $APPL_TOP/custom<TWO_TASK>_<HOSTNAME>.env
MALLOC_CHECK_=0
Then restart the concurrent managers and retest
2. Change it in the adovars.env file
Again bounce the concurrent managers and retest

[SOLVED] Losing network connection after suspend

Lately I'm having this peculiar problem. When resuming after suspend (specifically, pm-suspend), I have no network connection. I first noticed this on March 31st. The only thing that changed was that I upgraded these packages:

But I'm pretty sure I would have suspended and resumed successfully at least once after that upgrade.

Same issue here. Looks like dhcpcd crashes during or after running /usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks on resume from suspend. I'll try downgrading until this is fixed.

The permission looks fine. If it was permission issue then y it is trying to read the DATA disk which I havent created this time at all ( But created in the first installation).

what abt dropping this group.. will anything work.

What do I need to make 32bit games play on x86-64 with intel gm965?

I have been trying to get a bunch of 32bit games to play on x86-64 with no luck.
Ive tried quake4, prey, and now doom3 and all seem to have the same issues. They start to work and the screen goes black, then it just goes right back to the desktop.
I have installed the entire lib32 group, and still no luck. I even tried install lib32-intel-dri from aur but still no luck.
Do I still use lib32-nvidia-utils with an intel chipset, because thats what gets installed by default when i install the lib32 group?
Here is the output from doom3 (quake4, and prey had a very similar output where they all said idRenderSystem::Shutdown() but I already removed the packages out of frustration so I dont have the outputs from them, Im pretty sure its probably the same exact problem with all of them though)

Dump lib32, get a 32-bit chroot, and run with schroot -p "your game"
Within your chroot you'd need to have the intel drivers installed in a version exactly matching your main system's. It takes a bit more HD space (less than 1 GB), but you get a much easier system since you're using the packages maintained in the repos by devs/TUs instead of lib32 packages maintained (primarily) by volunteers for their own specific system.
