Double spacing a table -- How?

If "\t" takes care of my colum spacing is it possible to double space my rows? (Why do I have the fully feeling that it isn't going to be as simple as "\t" !! ) :)

Why do I have the fully feeling that it isn't going to be as simple as "\t"but damn close. "\t" is short for "tab", "\n" is short for "new line", so throw in as many "\n"'s as you need.

  • How do I stop double spacing when hitting enter. It just seems to have started doing so itself.

I am updating contact information within a page and when I hit enter I get double spacing. I have always gotten a single space as I need now when hitting enter I get a double space. I can find no way to correct this problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • How do I turn off double-spacing in Mail

Whenever I compose a message in Mail, if I hit the return key, it skips down two lines at one time. How do I get a single space?

This is present in Leopard 10.5.2
    Hello there,
    Let me understand something first:
    *Double Spaced*
    Line 1
    Line 2
    *Single Spaced*
    Line 1
    Line 2
    That being said,
I created an Email message that was double spaced. Viewed the RAW source of the Email and created an HTML document from the HTML source and viewed it in Safari. Its double spaced in Safari! It's possible that the HTML from the RAW source is the problem surrounding the lack of Single-Spacing. See for yourself...
    <html><body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; =

    arial, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 1.6em; overflow-x: auto; =
    overflow-y: auto; ">Test 2</pre><pre class=3D"WMmessagebody" =
    style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; =

    arial, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 1.6em; overflow-x: auto; =
    overflow-y: auto; ">Test 3</pre><pre class=3D"WMmessagebody" =

Perhaps Apple is enforcing some kind of standard. So, as of right now, I have no work around.

  • How do I change the spacing between lines in Pages 5.5.2?  Single spacing prints more like double spacing.

How do I change the spacing between lines in Pages 5.5.2?  Single spacing prints more like double spacing.

In the Format panel under the Text Style tab, there is a ▸ Spacing category. Click it to open, and you will have a selector that defaults to Lines, and to the right, the ability to set your spacing in decimal values. In addition to Lines, you also have At Least, Exactly, and Between capability. You can even set exact line height  in points. Check that your Before Paragraph, and After Paragraph settings are correct for your needs.

  • How can I paste a double spaced document in Mail and keep it double spaced?

I need to paste a double spaced novel into the body of the email. I can't send the document via attachment or any other way. When I paste it returns to single spaced even if I paste and match style. Can someone help?

I don't see any such option to set spacing. I think your only choice would be reformatting the document such that you have to enter two linefeeds instead of setting spacing because  Mail will not honor the normal RTF spacing.

  • .java files appear double spaced in Jdeveloper IDE.

After checking for updates and not finding what I was looking for, all .java files appear double spaced in the Code Editor. I can't find project property that seems to control this. The files appear fine when opened with other editors.

How does the file show up in notepad or vi? How does it show up in firefox?
You might want to evaluate the file with an ASCII reader to see if there are any extra line breaks in the code.
Also are some of the developers on linux/unix and some on windows?

  • Eliminating double spacing from pasted text in e-mails

I've sometimes had the problem of cutting and pasting text from a website into a new e-mail and having the whole e-mail then be double-spaced. How does one change the line spacing in e-mails?
    Thanks!

I tried pasting it into AppleWorks, and it appears without the spacing. When I pasted it back into the e-mail, the spacing reappeared. When I deleted the line return between the two lines in AppleWorks so that they appeared on the same line, then added a line return back in it looked the same, but when I pasted it back into Mail, the spacing disappeared.
What's weird about this is that when I select show invisibles in AppleWorks, and there's only a single line return between the lines. How is there managing to be an extra secret line return? Also, why is it that those extra line returns recur in the same e-mail with any new text I add rather than being limited to the pasted text?

  • What is the proper method for creating a document with double spacing?

There was a questioned posed regarding double spacing documents and it was suggested to set the leading to twice that of the font size.  Is this how "double spacing" is defined?

Double-spacing is a concept traditionally used in word processing. In professional page layout, as you would use it in InDesign, the space between lines is called "leading" and refers to finer increments than word processing (Word's Single, 1.5 lines, Double, etc.) It is measured in units called "points." There are 12 points in an inch.
In most professionally laid out publications, body copy of average column width is set with 1 to 4 points of space beyond the point size of the type. If the type size were 11 point, the leading might be set as between 12 and 15 points, depending on how much space you desired between lines.
Why don't you tell us what is you're trying to accomplish, and perhaps attach a screen capture of what you're trying to do?

  • Double spaced address in Word in Office 365 (Word 2014)

I am trying to print an envelope. My brand spanking new Office 365 insists on double spacing the lines in the envelope address. There do not appear to be formatting options in the Envelope popup screen. Any idea how to correct this? Step by step instructions
    would be nice.
What fool made double space the default setting for this field?

    Hi,
Do you mean the Delivery Address field in the Envelopes and Labels window?
Did you hit Enter when you want to change to a new line? If so, please try to hit Shift + Enter when you want to change the line.
If you want to make the change permanently, you need to change the Paragraph settings first and make the paragraph settings as default. See a same issue discussed here:

    Hope this helps.

  • I would like to change the spacing between the words for the product names, they look double spaced at present.

A simple question I think, I would like to change the spacing between the words for the product names, they look double spaced at present. On the home page, and product pages. Not sure where to change this in the css here is the site; http://top10shop.businesscatalyst.com

That site is using an old font technology called cufon, it uses canvas to draw the text into the font you want. Not really good for modern websites.
It is what the font was and how it was made. I never used Cufon but the documentation is here - Usage · sorccu/cufon Wiki · GitHub At a glance there are no render options for the double spacing so I am guessing it was how the font was generated.
I would scrap all of that completely tbh.

  • Double Spacing Footnotes

The spacing for notes in the Inspector uses "pts" not standard Double or Single spacing. I do not know how many "pts" corresponds to notes being double spaced. I am trying to format my thesis and the rules are that the notes be single spaced within and double spaced between. I have trouble telling how my notes are spaced.

You can't specify line spacing in email messages. With a list, just hit return twice to insert a blank line, though this isn't a satisfactory solution with a paragraph of text because the wrapping mucks it up.

I have double spaced my message lists in mail on several computers, but suddenly I can't remember how it is done. Can anyone help? This is driving me nuts! Thank you.

To arrange columns, click on column title (To or From) and drag right or left.
The black dot column shows the type of message. There will be a counterclockwise arrow if the email is a response to a previous email or there will be an icon of a note if the message is a note

When I type in table, the writing is double spaced and i cant find where to make it single spaced?

The text in your table is probably getting default styles from a heading <h1> or paragraph <p> tag.
