    a                b              c

Hi,
ASCII is normal tab separator, every field is like in separate columns, and for this you have to specify in datasource tab of transfer roules the exaxt number of digit ov every field, and is generally in .txt format.
You obtain this format when you save an MS-Excel file in .prn format (one of the last possibilities).
About Separator for thousand and Decimal Points you have to define it due to the values that you use in your file, for example you can use ',' fordecimal place, so you have to define this character for decimal place.
About conversion routine you have to keep-off this flag if you not have particular conversion routine.

  • Create text file (ASCII), tab separated and load in sap (transaction al11)

    hi..
    i need to create a text file (ASCII), tab separated in sap which can be viewed in transaction AL11.
    thank you.

    Hi kailashl,
    Do intend to create a tab delimited file through program. or is it that you wish to diretly place the file on the application server.
    PS: if you wish to place the file which you have on the application server from presentation you use the tcode CG3Z, you need to give the source file path on the front end and target path on the application.
    If you wish to write the file onto the app server using program that you can do using dataset. and for tab delimited u can use CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
    PS: Award points ONLY if the solution was useful to you.

  • How to load a text file (ASCII) into a TS string variable?

    I need to load a ASCII file into a TS string variable for subsequent processing. I tried the SecuenceBuilder DLL (in the examples directory) but it seems that this DLL has a bug. Some text files are not loaded properly. I have also tried the kernel32 functions (openfile, createfile, readfile ... ) handling them as a C program, but with no success. The property loader feature of TS is not the suitable solution for me, because I would have to modify all my text files to include some specific fields (step name, variables, starmarker ...). Doy you know an alternative procedure to load text files or any DLL that implements what I look for ? Any help would be grateful. Cesar ([email protected])

    Hi Cesar,
    I don't know if you have found a solution, but attached is a DLL built in VC that will read the text out of a file into a TestStand variable. The attached sequence file \SequenceFile1.seq contains a step type that is set to call the DLL responsible for reading the file. It reads the file specified under Step.FilePath and stores the data in Step.ReadData. Please let me know if this works for you. I have attached the source as well.

  • Making an ASCII file into a text file

    Hi-
    I am trying to read the lines of an ASCII file as Strings and write them to a new text file. Eventually I will modify the info in the lines, but for now I'm just trying to get the flow from one file to another. I can't figure out how to write a String to a new file. Below is the code that I've written so far, followed by the error that i get when I run it (it compiles fine). One problem I see is that FileWriters are made to write characters, but I want to write Strings to a new file. How do I get around this?
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.*;
    import java.util.*;
    class Delimiter {
    public static void main (String[] args) throws IOException {
    try {
    File inputFile=new File("test.asc");
    File outputFile=new File(test.txt");
    BufferedReader in=new BufferedReader(new FileReader(inputFile));
    BufferedWriter out=new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(outputFile));
    String line=" ";
    while (line != null) {
    line=in.readLine();
    out.write(line);
    out.newLine();
    in.close();
    out.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {
    ERROR:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at java.io.Writer.write(Unknown Source)
    at Delimiter.main(Delimiter.java:23)

    sorry, I responded too quickly. I put out.write(null);
    just before the in.close(); statement and got an error
    saying that command is ambiguous b/c write() could
    belong to multiple classes. did you mean that I should
    put it in the while loop?I didn't mean for you to put
    out.write(null);
    in your code. I meant to point out that when 'line' is null, the problem is that you are passing a null to the out.write() method. That is bad. Don't do that. Use the above. It will test for null before doing the write().

  • EXTRACTing to TEXT file in Data Warehouse - Simple doubts!

    Hi Experts,
    Pls. clarify my simple doubts, in data EXTRACTing prog.,(data extract from SAP to text file in Application server, prog. runs in back ground)
    For the Dataware house mapping, I hv been asked to make the following changes,
    1) Presently, there is NO column headings in Text file, so I need to add the column Headings - How to get it done?
    2) presently, its NOT tab deliminated, so, I need to make it to TAB deliminated- How to achieve it?
    I am here paste some piece of code, so that U will get understand well.
    PERFORM open_dataset_zdata_whouse_04.
        DESCRIBE FIELD i_tab LENGTH tfr_length IN BYTE MODE.
        LOOP AT i_itab.
          TRANSFER i_itab TO transfer_file1 LENGTH tfr_length.
        ENDLOOP.
        CLOSE DATASET transfer_file1.
    ThaNQ.

    See the below code :
    parameters: d1 type localfile default
    '/usr/sap/TST/SYS/Test.txt'.
    data: begin of itab occurs 0,
          field1(20) type c,
          field2(20) type c,
          field3(20) type c,
          end of itab.
    data: str type string.
    constants: con_tab type x value '09'.
    if you have a newer version, then you can use this
    instead.
    *constants:
       con_tab  type c value
    cl_abap_char_utilities=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
    start-of-selection.
    itab-field1 = 'ABC'.
    itab-field2 = 'DEF'.
    itab-field3 = 'GHI'.
    append itab.
    itab-field1 = '123'.
    itab-field2 = '456'.
    itab-field3 = '789'.
    append itab.
      open dataset d1 for output in text mode.
      loop at itab.
        translate itab using ' # '.
        concatenate itab-field1 itab-field2 itab-field2
    into str
                      separated by con_tab.
        translate str using ' # '.
        transfer str to d1.
      endloop.
      close dataset d1.
    above code for tab delimited.
    for heading then you can write simple logic in the loop of internal table
    loop at itab.
    if sy-tabix = 1'
    move heading data to file.
    endif.
    endloop.
    Thanks

  • How can I copy records from a Table to a ASCII/ Text file.?

    Hi
    Can you help me with code for copying the records from an oracle table to a Text file,? I like to copy the 1200 records from a 7 field table to a .txt file and print out the out put.
    earliest reply is deeply appreciated.

    All I would do is, in SQL*Plus, spool your output to a file and change the pagesize to however many lines you want before the next header break.
    For example:
    SET PAGESIZE 79
    SPOOL OUTPUT.TXT
    Would create an output file called OUTPUT.TXT with header rows produced after every 79 rows of data.

  • Small doubt  reg upload from tab delimited text file

    Hi  all,
    i am uploading a tab delimited text file to a ztable.
    I moving the text file in to internal table
    data : begin of i_tab occurs 0,
           text(1024) type c,
           end of i_tab.
    then i have passed to FM GUI_UPLOAD.
    and then splitting

    split i_tab at con_tab
                              into i_xyz-matnr
                                   i_xyz-werks.
        append i_xyz.
    endloop..
    is this the right approach . iam getting the results but iam just curious to know.
    Do i need to internal like the one i created
    data : begin of i_tab occurs 0,
           text(1024) type c,
           end of i_tab.
    or do i need to create one with field that i have in text file.
    data : begin of i_tab occurs 0,

  • Export data as fixed length ASCII text file

    If you use SQL*Plus, you could try the following.

  • Difference in reading a text file in Windows & Unix

    I have a code which is working fine in windows but is stopping after reading the first line of a text file in

    declare

    v_line varchar2(200);
    begin

    text_io.fclose(file_handle);

    message(' Mobile NO is '||mob_no);

    message('File SUCCESSFULLY LOADED........');
    end;
    Is there any difference in reading a text file in Windows & Unix.
    I hope, my question is clear. Please help in solving the doubt as it is urgent.
    Regards.

    There is no difference in reading a file - you use TEXT_IO in the normal way. However there is of course a difference in the format of text files between Unix and Dos so if you had say transferred your test file from Dos to the Unix box for testing strange things might happen if you had not transferred in ASCII mode.

  • How to read a text file into a String?

    and also write a text file from a String. I searched the forum and found this folowing code:

    // Now, do whatever you want with the data... and append...
    String textToAppend = "kjkjhjhKJ";
    byte outData[] = textToAppend.getBytes();
    // Make the outputfile (whith the 'append' boolean set to true
