Doubts installing patch 8350262:

Hi Experts:
I was trying to install this patch: 8350262, the purpose is to fix a problem I got with dbconsole.
But I was I doing, or at least I understand I'm doing what the README doc says.
First I create a dir called PATCH_TOP, $ORACLE_HOME/PATCH_TOP.
Then; I unzipped the file in PATCH_TOP.
unzip p8350262_102040_Generic.zip.
after that, I was trying to execute the next steps;
I moved at this dir: ORACLE_HOME/PATCH_TOP/8350262.
then execute this command; opatch apply
but but I got this error message; ksh: opatch: not found
What I'm doing wrong? or what I missing?

When issuing a command, the os command processor (shell) will search the directories listed in the PATH environment variable to locate the executable file.
So, the directory containing the executable "opatch" is not listed in your PATH.

Hi im having a problem with database control. I have installed the patch 8350262 in a few dbs and it solved the problem of the expired certificate.
Today i tried to install it in a database that has a higher patch:
ApplySession applying interim patch '8350262' to OH '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1'
Interim patch 8350262 is a subset of the patch(es) [ 11724962 ] in OH /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1.
All the fixes of this patch 8350262 is already present in the Oracle Home. No need to apply this patch.
ApplySession failed during prerequisite checks: Given patch is a subset patch.
System intact, OPatch will not attempt to restore the system
The patch is useless here. But the problem is that the certificate stills expired and i cant make database control work correctly.
Do you have an idea of what should i do?

Tim I had to install that patch because the patch 8350262 wont work with this db version ...
The opatch tool said something like "higher version found" (before applying 11724962). I thought that maybe with 11724962 i could solve it but i'll have to open a SR.

Hi,
First of all the kernel should be comparable to the patches you take. By this i mean take the kernel which goes fine woth this patch sp10. JSPM should detect them properly. If it fails this means your selection is wrong.
Secondly if you have deployed a few sp10 components you can still update the kernel. It should be done using JSPM.
But you can also shut your instance and the database and then uncar the kernel files in some location using the SAPCAR from the existing kernel files.
Then take the backup of the current kernel files. Keep it at some loaction as safe source to revernt back in case of any issues.
Then you can paste the new kernel files in the kernel directory which is
c:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NT<XXX>\
and then restart the instance.
Hope you understood the procedure.
If you have any doubts better ask them before proceeding this kernel patching at the OS level.

Problem with installing patch SP1b

Hello All,
I have a development server running on XP pro with live cycle 8.0.1. I 'm facing a problem while installing patch SP1b to that server. I have attached the log file.
My problem is
I copied a process' .lca file from a server running on windows server 2003 with patch installed and deployed on the development server. Now in my development XP box, workspace is opening but when i tried to open the process, before rendering the pdf form it is giving "An error occurred during the operation (endpoint id 401). (ALC-WKS-007-027)" error. I have even crosschecked the input xfaform variable also; every thing is perfect. The details are as below:

Later if I type opatch command on the dos prompt it is throwing error that 'is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file'
In my server is structure like this.....
Obiee installed in E drive
It has subfolder like 'mw_home'
Under that folder I have instances, jdk116_18,jrockit....,logs,modules,oracle_bi1,oracle_common,user_projects,utils,wlserver.
Under oracle_bi1 I have admin,asoneofftool,assistants,atgpf,.....
Under oracle_common I have admin,admin server registration,bc4j .....
Can anybody give the exact commands which are applicable for my server.... from importing zip from the oracle site and where I will have to place and where I will have to install... Anybody give me all the commands to get my patch install?
can you tell me my steps will going to impact anything further? if i stop it in the middle..

Error in installing patch 9.0.1.4. "Exception in Thread "main"

Want to ask a problem regarding installing patch Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4.
Previously, i got problems in installing other patch. The solution i got is to install the below patch.
They suggested that i have to install Patch 3038037.
and when I read the ReadMe of Patch 3038037, it stated
2 Preinstallation Requirements
The following list is the preinstallation requirements for this patch set:
Ensure that Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4 is applied to database instances
before applying the Oracle9iAS version 9.0.2.3 patch to infrastructure
instances.
So, in this case, i have to install "Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4" first
before i can install "Patch 3038037"
So, currently, i am trying to install the Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4...got error that are
1) Tried to run runInstaller in Disk1
./runInstaller: Command not found
2)The runInstaller in Disk1 actually will run runInstaller in folder "Disk1/install/solaris"..
but when i run it, it gaves me

Updatemanager java.null.pointer exception in installing patches !

I started Updatemanager and get 8 patches to be installed on my system. When I click: Install 8 items now I get an exception from updatemanager:

This issue should now be resolved. If you are using the Update Manager you will first need to manually update your analysis (click "Check for Updates") which will clear out the bad patch meta data causing the problem. You then should be able to use UM to install updates as intended.

11.2.0.3.0 Required Postinstallation Tasks: Downloading and Installing Patches

I installed 11.2.0.3.0 on AIX 7.1. The postinstallation tasks begin with downloading and installing patches. I am not sure which patches or PSU to install. Following the directions in the installation guide, I go to My Oracle Support, then to Patches and Updates and specify Oracle Database and IBM AIX 64-bit. For "release" do I select 11.2.0.3.0, or do I select the seven releases from 11.2.0.3.0 - 11.2.0.3.6? If I select all seven the search returns 1293 patches. The instructions are obviously not telling me to download and apply all 1293 patches. I next searched for the most recent PSU and see that PSU 11.2.0.3.6 was published on April 17, 2013. What is the right thing to apply? Should I download only PSU 11.2.0.3.6 and apply that, or should I do something else not described here?

You should apply the latest 11.2.0.3 PSU (currently 11.2.0.3.6) - you do not have to apply all of the one-off patches

Patchadd interrupted - now failing to install patch correctly

I had started a patch installation when one of my kind users compromised the system by filling all available swapspace.
I tried tto get into the system but failed. After about 10 minutes I did - what I should have avoided to do - a control C on the
unresponsive patchadd command.
The result is that the patch is not committed, but also not removed. The system's response to a patchrm is

You should solve one problem at a time.
If your system does not recognize Windows, don't start playing with VM ware or Parallels. You don't fix something by bypassing it.
If you cannot boot into your Windows partition using bootcamp, that that's the first thing to fix.

Errors installing patch 9.2.0.5

Trying to install patch 9.2.0.5 on solaris 64-bit in silent mode using response files and receive the following error when trying to install the OUI supplied with the patch.
Error: <myexisting sid> already exists at <specified oracle_home location> specify another location for HOME1.
If I specify another location the oui is installed, but when I attempt to install the patch I get :
Error: Specified a non-empty directory to install this product. Recommended to specify either an empty or non-existent directory to install this product.
When I specify a empty directory, I get:

It still gives error, this time error is changed, another exception. I tried with oracle provided rpm for RHEL 5, which install all dependent packages required, same issue persists.
