Download Error Exception in 1.6. Works in all older versions.

I had some customers complaining that Java Web Start stopped working after upgrading to Java 1.6. I got the following after I upgraded.
JNLPException[category: Download Error : Exception: null : LaunchDesc: null ]

I get the following on the console:
#### Java Web Start Error:
#### Unable to load resource: http://barracudaserver.com/products/BarracudaDrive/HttpsTunnelWS.jar
I have cleared the Java cache, but the Java client still sends a " If-Modified-Since" so the server responds with a 304 Not Modified.

That is a long time ago.
I have attached the HTTP headers at the bottom.
Any ideas?
BTW, it would be great if SUN could make things backward compatible. This JNLP file is integrated inside a product and requires that all customers upgrade the product.

here is my JNLP test program
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://172.22.90.128/Rel05_01_052">

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I have just downloaded itunes. I cannot install QT as an older version is in place. Cannot remove the older version using CP. Any ideas?

    Many thanks.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

You need the serial number from the older version from which you upgraded.

Sorry, but no.  Pages 4 is still in an iWork folder within your Applications folder.  You can use that to get work done.

i downloaded reader 11.3 ,do i need to uninstall older versions ?

If you have Reader 10.x or 11.x installed, there is no need to uninstall.  Older, or much older versions should be uninstalled before installing a much newer version.

OS 8.0 update OTA to my 4S has killed the device. After the initial attempt failed I tried via iTune Restore and got Error 29.
Attempts to restore to an older version (7.1.2) failed as well. Same error.
The phone is stuck in the familiar "connect to iTunes" screen.
    Has iOS8 destroyed my phone?

    Hi vijay294,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you received a restore error while attempting to update to iOS 8 and now you see the Connect to iTunes graphic on your display. In this situation, I would recommend using recovery mode to restore your iPhone. Please use the instructions located in the attached article to complete this process.

  • I need version 3.6.16 for an at home online job. I am unable to find it anywhere from a secure source. Is there a way to get a link to download it? The ChaCha Toolbar only works with this older version. Thanks!

I need the older version 3.6.16 for my at home based job for ChaCha. Their toolbar only works with this version and they say it is more compatible with this. And I have not been able to find a secure link to download this older version. Can you give me a secure link or is it possible to download this older version securely?

If you only need Firefox 3.6 for just one thing then you may be better off using a portable version of Firefox as it will not impact your Firefox 6.0.2 install. You can install it on hard disk or on a usb flash drive. Firefox 3.6.22 is the current security update as 3.6.16 is old.

  • Run time errors on new java;  how do i get older version?

i keep getting runtime errors on the new java version i'm tire of it i can't play my pogo games lol. how do i get an older version of java?

Uninstall the JDK/JRE you are using (I presume J2SE 6.0). To do this : Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > then remove JRE 6.0 and JDK 6.0.
Visit http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/previous.jsp and download the previous jdk that works fine for you. Install it and try your game.
    Hope That Helps

  • Ever since I upgraded to firefox 5, a site that required flash player doesn't work - it worked with the older version

A site that worked on your old version doesn't work anymore. When I go to the page it says to download a plugin, but then it comes up with "no suitable plugins were found." I believe the site requires flash player. I have reinstalled it and it works with other programs that require it.

I wasn't able to get to any of those sites without having serious hanging issues. I just uninstalled Flash, rebooted, then reinstalled it. Everything seems to be working fine now.

  • Hi, my computer's too old to download 3.6.24 and it says that the older version will stop being supported soon, so how can I continue to use Firefox, I can't afford a new computer? It crashes a lot too, I've been told that's because it's old too.

It seems to crash after a period of time and then will keep crashing constantly if I keep trying to open up Firefox. It does the same with Safari. It's a mac running on 10.5.8. Is it possible to download and use older versions of Firefox? Help! Please.

There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.
Meanwhile, it's hours since you sent this post. Hopefully others who can help solve your problem who are on this forum now can help you. I hope you get your notes back. Don't give up too quickly.
    Hope this helps.

  • LOV /ADF UIX pages does not work on the older version od UIX page

    Hi
I have recently migrated UIX project from the Jdeveoper 9i to Jdev10g version 1.0.1.2, everything work without any issue, however when I try to create a LOV or any component that are ADF-UIX based, but it does not work I don't even get any error, it just does not work based on the ADF-UIX (Expression base component),
Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appericated
    Thanks

I too have problems with LOVs in UIX pages. I have
some that you have to run twice to get back a value. To solve this problem,
    1) open your UIX page where you create a new row
    2) in the Structure window, click third tab "UI Model"
    3) double-click the control action binding corresponding to Create
    4) select CreateInsert from the list
The problem is related to the fix we introduced for the "Blank Row Issue" (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/blankrow/index.html).
If you have access to MetaLink, please refer to Note 299860.1 and Bug 4201020.

can naoyone offer a solution that will work now?
    thanks

There are several problems with the newest Adobe Flashplayer. Adobe is working to fix the problems. You can check for problems and possibly downgrade Flash to version 11.2 or 10.3.

  • Where to download Adobe Reader 9.1...and other older versions?

I just got a notice that a "new" update was avialable for Acrobat Reader.
I tried to install the update for my version (v 8.2! -- don't know why I never got any notices of subsequent updates/versions), but the update to 8.22 failed several times. So I got the update from the download are and that installed successfully.
However, when I noticed that there have been several updates, I also tried to download the 16 MB version 9.1. But clicking "download now" wouldn't generate a download window. Instead, I was taken to a download page for the CURRENT version of Acrobat -- the 32 MB  v 9.3 that includes AIR). This page offers no option to download other versions though the header for the page actually states that it's a page for the Current and "older versions".
Any ideas on why I'm encountering this problem and where I can actually download version 9.1....or how I can get 9.3 WITHOUT AIR?
    Thanks.

You can't get with out AIR.  you could uninstall it afterwards.
i believe there is switch you could user when installing it to diable the AIR.  I have it disabled at work, but I'm also
packaging it for mass deployment to 7000 machines.  Check out appdeploy.com
If you don't want AIR and Acrobat.com you need to get the .msi and download the custom wizard and make an .mst file and run those.  Quite fun.  Or like I ssaid just run the set up and uninstall those features.
