Download Externally held File

I have recently come into having problems with a flash link.
I think it must be some update in IE tha'ts caused it to appear
like it is, but I would like to know what your views and ideas are
on it.
The flash holds a link in an image
getURL ('
http://www.blahblah.com/file.zip','_blank')
Please excuse the code if it's wrong, I am working from
memory. but the issue is that when the link is clicked IE pops up
it's info bar saying pop-ups are blocked, I click to temporarily
allow pop-ups, and try again, this time the page comes up, but
immediately disappears again where it should come up with the 'save
as'/ 'run' box.
When I disable the pop-up blocker the same thing happens.
Is there an IE workaround that I could use? or maybe
something I could use within Flash to act as the 'save/run' box.
I look forward to your comments
James

  • [Q] Loading one external JPG file into different MCs & Downloading

    Hi, I was wondering if I set few MCs to load the same
    external JPG file, would users need to download thme few times?
    Or only need to download once?
    I am having trouble loading long 700*8000 jpg files due to
    limited pixel size of 2300(?).
    I was thking of making them into 2000 * 2000 square pictures
    by cutting long picture into short sigments and putting them side
    by side.
    and using AS to make them appear as single long picture by
    using 2 MCs with same image but at different x position of loaded
    square Picture.
    Anyone have better idea?
    I am bit hesitated to make jpg to swf files cuz I have too
    many pictures
    Plz spare some time for me..
    Thank you for your time~!!!!

    thank you, kglad..
    I was thking of making 700 * 8000 image into 2800*2800 image
    this square picture works as four (700*2800) images.
    So that i can use 2 set of same jpg MC with differnt Masking
    to make them
    appears as continuously long images
    eg. 1st Mc will be showing _x: 0-700
    at the bottom of the first MC, 2nd MC will be showing _x:
    700-1400
    and so on so on..
    so..when user is scrolling down..these MCs will makeing
    sqaure image
    as long portrait image..
    I dont beleve myself it is a good solution..
    Probably most suitable way would be what you just suggested
    me..
    Its just that it will be quite a time consuming job to make
    jpgs into swfs...
    Thank you again for your kindness..:)

    What are the requirements and steps for arranging to receive this large file using File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
    Usually, we don't speak of "receive" when using FTP, since the file is transferred from server to client, so it's more of a case of "download".
    At your end, it's simple. You use an FTP client; under SL, that includes Finder and Safari, so you don't even need to get any additional software.
    At the other end, it's more complicated; the 'sender' must set up an FTP server on his machine.
    Alternatively, you can set up your own Mac as an FTP server, and have the 'sender' connect to you with an FTP client and upload the file; but, if your Mac lives behind a router, then you have more work to do with the router settings.
    That's why it's much easier to use the file sharing services mentioned above -- if they are available in both sender's and receiver's locations. (Keep in mind that some countries block access to all those mentioned -- except perhaps <www.transfer.ro>, of which I know absolutely nothing.)

  • To download SOAP/XML file at runtime....

    Hi,
      My porgram is consuming a web service, provided by an external party, by calling the method of the corresponding proxy class. The problem is I want to capture the SOAP/XML file that is generated at runtime when the proxy method is called.
    Could you please suggest me a way by which I can download the XML file. Is it possible?

    Hi Vara,
    One solution is to activate logging and tracing and to see the payload in the log viewer. Consider that this could lower the performance of the system.
    Another solution could be to use some kind of [packet analyzer|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_sniff] ...
    Hope this helps,

  • Using Flashvars to load external mp3 files

    I am trying to find a very good step by step tutorial on using "Flashvars" to load external mp3 files, I have been searching on google and the many I have found fall short in some way or another. From what I have been able to gather, I have tried using the code in red (commented out), which works, and modify it to use "Flashvars". The code that works, the mp3 file is hard coded, but my goal is to use "Flashvars" which I am attempting to do in the code following the code in red. I am also including the html code. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

        sound.play();
    var soundReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(root.loaderInfo.parameters.audio);

    Ok waterlovinguy,
    I went back to my original code, and I got things to work... I think my whole issue was with the HTML CODE. So I decided to use the "SWFObject generator". I had never used it before, frankly I had never heard of it until I started my searches on "Flashvars".

  • External Actionscript File not being Included

    Odd problem:
    Myself and a colleague are working on a project. We're both
    using Flash 8. We've both downloaded the latest Flash player.
    The project involves a series of perfume bottles, all lined
    up in a row. When you press a key on the keyboard, the associate
    bottle enlarges and some info on it appears. At the same time the
    other bottles fade out (an alpha change).
    The alpha change is driven using an external actionscript
    file, which is called (#include) at the top of the first line of
    script in the ‘main’ movie.
    The problem is, when I publish the swf file, the alpha change
    doesn’t work. When my colleague publishes it, it works. Why
    is this? It’s almost as if in publishing from my computer,
    the external .AS file is being ignored.
    I’ve tried calling the .AS file using a full path to
    the file. No change.
    I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash
    player, and older version of the player. No change.
    Here’s something else that’s odd: I’ve
    tried copying all the script from the external .AS file and
    embedding it into the main movie. No change. Is it that the
    publishing from my computer is corrupted? Other things I’ve
    published recently have worked fine?
    Any ideas?

    Yes, I've opened the AS file, and it seems ok. I've also had
    it sent to me a couple of times in case it got corrupted in
    transit.
    I've also tried copying the script from the AS file and
    embedding it into the 'main' movie at the #include statement (and
    removing the #include statement) so it doesn't have to look for the
    AS file, but this hasn't helped.
    I'll try making a different AS file with the trace statement
    you suggested, but I have other movies that call external AS
    statements, and they work.
    We're both running XP Pro w/ SP2.

  • Trouble with loading external mp3 files

    I apologize for the length of the post. I hope this is clear
    of what I am trying to explain.
    My problem deals with getting "undefined" when I press a
    button to load an external mp3 files. The following is what my XML
    childNode looks like:
    <option phonetic="Soundless, or A" name="aleph"
    cursive="alephCursive.swf" block="alephBlock.swf"
    audio="char1.mp3"/>
    Every attribute loads the way I've programmed them, except
    for the last one "audio".
    The following is what my actionscript looks like loading in
    these attributes:
    Everything is happening inside the onLoad event for my XML
    file.
    var xmlContent = this.firstChild.firstChild;
    audioContent = new Array();
    for (var i = 0;
    i<this.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes.length; i++) {
    nextEntry = xmlContent.childNodes
    audioContent = [nextEntry.attributes.phonetic,
    nextEntry.attributes.name, nextEntry.attributes.cursive,
    extEntry.attributes.block, nextEntry.attributes.audio];
    The code above simply adds each attribute to the audioContent
    array. Each element traces out correctly.
    The following code is how I am using these attributes:
    for (var i = 0; i<audioLength; i++) {
    audioContainer.attachMovie("container4", "audioItem"+i, i);
    // Create a shortcut reference to the present movie clip
    thisClip = audioContainer["audioItem"+i];
    thisClip.myTxt1.htmlText = audioContent[0];
    thisClip.myTxt2.htmlText = audioContent
    [1];
    thisClip.cursive_mc =
    loadThis(assetPath+audioContent[2], thisClip.cursive_mc);
    thisClip.block_mc = loadThis(assetPath+audioContent
    [3], thisClip.block_mc);
    thisClip.speaker_mc.attachMovie("speaker", "speaker_mc",
    this.getNextHighestDepth());
    thisClip.speaker_mc.speaker_mc.onRollOver = function() {
    this.nextFrame();
    thisClip.speaker_mc.speaker_mc.onRollOut = function() {
    this.prevFrame();
    thisClip.speaker_mc.speaker_mc.onRelease = function() {
    mySnd.loadSound(audioPath+audioContent[4],true);
    Loading the text works inside the htmlText. Using a function
    loadThis to load external swf files works corerctly and even
    attaching a linked movieclip from my library called "speaker" works
    correctly.
    The problem comes from pressing the speaker movieclip that
    the output traces "undefined" instead of the external mp3 file.
    I appreciate any help. Thanks.

    As Ned said the problem might be with the file structure on the server. Other problems may be with spelling. You computer may not be case sensitive to the names of the .swf files that you are loading, but your server might. So, on your computer when you are testing, second.swf is the same as Second.swf, or even second.SWF. But, on the server each of these variations is seen as a different file. Another problem is that when you are loading files from the same computer in testing, those files are close and so they load very quickly from your computer. When the files have to travel from the server, there will likely be a measurable period of time before the file is ready to be shown. This is particularly problematic with video that is embedded into an .swf. The whole file will need to be downloaded and uncompressed before it is available to play. If you stream the video as an external file, you can shorten the wait considerably.

  • 90% of pictures disappeared after new program. Time machine folders mostly empty. Downloaded my Carbonite file. Can I restore directly from this file or do I have to drag and drop 20,000 pix?

    90% of pictures disappeared after adding Maverick. My Time Machine folders were in the right order but mostly empty so useless for restore. Repair and rebuild attempts were not effective. Downloaded my Carbonite file which is now sitting on my desktop. Is there any way to use the restore command to rebuild my portfolio or do I have to drag & drop approx 20,000 pictures? Can album groupings and faces be retained?

    Do you still have the original library that was present at the time you upgraded to Mavericks?  If so apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Struts 2 external js file

    hey,
    I have a problem in invoking methods in an external js file. I'm using struts 2 in eclipse.

    WEB-INF\jsp\view\js\
    Following is my code;

    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="js/map.js"></script>
    <body class="oneColElsCtr" onload="init()">but the init() never seems to be invoked!
    I'm new to struts and it would be great if some one can help me
    thanks in advance!

    This is not the Struts problem but rather the location of You js folder. Folder with JavaScript scripts should be placed on the same level as WEB-INF directory. As evanfets said: "Anything under the WEB-INF directory is not directly accessible by the client. Nothing under WEB-INF can be downloaded." When You put your js folder in the same folder as WEB-INF (this is web root) it should work. To import js file use:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="../js/script.js"></script> on the main jsp site (path to script should be considered).

  • Trying to properly code a menu with buttons that can go back and forth between external swf files

    I have a project I've been working on that, when properly coded, has a "main menu" with 4 "doors" (buttons). When the corresponding buttons to these "doors" are clicked, it should go to and play an external .swf file. If that doesn't make sense, think of a DVD menu. You click play movie, it plays the movie. When the movie is over, there's two buttons on that swf file to either play the movie over or go back the main menu, which is an external .swf file (Remember, we go to the movie from the menu, which is a seperate file). So far, the buttons work. The menu works. However, from the movie, at the conclusion, when I click the button to go back to the main menu, it displays the movie clip and the buttons, but none of the buttons work. I'm starting to think it has to do with the fact the main menu was written in AS3 and the movie was made in AS2. If anyone can assist me in being to able to keep both files and still navigate between the two, being able to bring up the menu from the movie and be able to play the movie again, and so on and so on, that'd be GREAT. I'm somewhat of a noob to Flash, but I learn quickly and I'm open to any suggestions. Here's the code for main menu, which I guess acts as the parent file, and the movie. If I get this to work, I essentially would duplicate the same actions for the other 4 doors, once I complete the environments for them. Thanks
    Main.Fla/Swf (written in AS3)
    (This is the action on the first frame, that has all the buttons. For this question, I'm just trying to properly code for 'Door4', which is the "door" to the movie.)
    import flash.display.Loader;
    stop();
    var myLoader1:Loader=new Loader ();
    Door4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, jayzSwf);
    function jayzSwf(myevent1:MouseEvent):void
              var myURL1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("jayzspeaks.swf");
              myLoader1.load(myURL1);
              addChild(myLoader1);
              myLoader1.x = 0;
              myLoader1.y = 0;
    Movie.Fla/Swf (written in AS2)
    (This is action on the button that returns to the menu)
    on (release) {
              this.createEmptyMovieClip("container",this.getNextHighestDepth());
              container.loadMovie("main.swf");

    At least you're going in the correct (mis)direction. You have AS3 loading AS2. So that's not a huge hurdle.
    I believe all you really need to do is send your Main.swf a signal that the content it loaded (e.g. jayzspeaks.swf) is done and you want to get rid of it.
    The code I pointed you to asks you to (upon download and import then) instantiate it in both AS2 and AS3. They give a very simple easy to understand line of code.
    // as2, load this in jayzspeaks.swf
    var myBridge:SWFBridgeAS2 = new SWFBridgeAS2("connectionID", clientObj);
    // as3, load this in main.swf
    var myBridge:SWFBridgeAS3 = new SWFBridgeAS3("connectionID", clientObj);
    Make sure the connectionID matches between them. Set it to whatever you want.
    When you're done with your as2 loaded content you'd send a signal (over localconnection) back to the AS3 Main like they say:
    myBridge.send("someFunctionToUnloadContent");
    myBridge.close();
    You'd need to make the as3 function "someFunctionToUnloadContent()" (example purposes only name) and it should unload the jayzspeaks.swf that was loaded in the loader.
    Make sure you get that close in there so you don't drill up a bunch of localconnection objects just like the simple source code says.

  • Loading external swf files in a swf - Error#1009

    I have been having trouble using a swf file within a swf file.   The external swf files all work as expected.  However when used within another swf file I get the standard TypeError #1009 for some of my swfs.   The external swf files are mainly actionscript 3 files.  A typical swf file will have an object (or objects) in the library which has an export for ActionScipt property enabled and an addEventListener(Event.ENTERFRAME, somefunction).   About four years ago when I had to do some work with AS2 I seemed to get around a similar issue with the _lockroot method but this is no longer part of AS3. I have searched various forums and note that I am not the only one with this issue but did not find any relevant solutions.   If anyone could give me any ideas on how to get around this it would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    I have added a download to rapidshare and its link is:

    The main file Training01.fla has been set up with links to download several swf's.   The links that do not work properly are those labelled :  Module6 and Module 8.   The first Module 6 connects to a function that is a variation of how I was trying to load external swfs using Application Domain, while Module 8 is a link to a swf that uses and external class.  Module 8 is supposed to load with rotating stars, while Module 6 loads the same file as the link called Module 1.   As soon as I use the two links Module 6 or Module 8 the whole lot ceases to work properly.  I did also follow through the examples on the Adobe site.  The examples for Module 6 and Module 8 are tutorials I have used from the Internet as part of my training from the site FlashMyMind.com but they replicate the type of work we have been doing with respect to using ActionScript3.
    Re my background, at this stage I am self-taught using tutorials on the web and whatever books I can lay my hands on here.  There is no structured training available where I live as there is insufficient demand and no books available on Flash or ActionScript at the local book stores or libraries so the books are ones I have ordered via the Internet.  The one I am currently using apart from Adobe Classroom in a Book Flash CS4 is O'Reilly's Learning ActionScript 3.0 a Beginners Guide.
    The other problem I have been trying to solve and still researching is why one loses sound in the flash player when playing flv files, if the user has selected or restarted a video (or videos) many times eg 25 to 30 times as we create video training files and serve them to the user within the flash environment using Flash Player 9 and IE6.
