Download to CSV problem in APEX report
Greetings,
I have a report that retrieves a lot of rows from the database, I have set the Mx Row Count to 25000. When the user tries to click on the download to csv link, it just works for a while and times out.
The other problem in this is that the report itself is taking a long time to run.
Any suggestions on improving the performance and solve the above mentioned problem will be greatly appreciated.

It's a very simple query.. the same query runs in less than 2 seconds on SQL Navigator.. but when I run it from APEX it takes like 5 minutes.

Interactive Report Download to csv problem
Hi,
I have 2 applications. Both in the same workspace, same APEX version. Within those applications I have Interactive Reports.
When I use the download to CSV (IR) in the first application I get all the available data in my CSV. It ignores the filters that are applied!
The second application does not have this problem. If I have an IR with 10000 rows and I apply a filter to select only a 100 rows and I download, I get my 100 rows in csv.
It's suppose to work as I describe for the second application. I want to download the rows with the filter applied. What could cause this??I had an similar issue. Found out submitting the CSV action was nulling out my filter as viewed in session state. the page item I was using needed to have the SOURCE changed from "Always replace..." to "Only when NULL..." This fixed the Download issue.

Download to CSV format in Interactive report
Hi all,
We have APEX 4.2. We have created Interactive report on a table. When we download that report to csv, everything is fine except for loan number which is a varchar2(50 Byte) (e.g. 210568900000000012). It is shown as 2.10569E+15. When we try to format the cell as text, it rounds off the number (e.g 210568900000000000).
Please advice.

AndyI encountered this issue previously, but regarding leading zeroes. It was really a battle with Excel - not APEX.
Although I'd be interested to see if anyone has found a workaround that made Excel interpret it as a character instead of a number. We tried a few leads but to no avail. -
Error Message : No Response from Application Web Server
I get the time out message as stated above when Download the CSV File from APEX application. The Report has 48000 Records in it. the reports does not have any Joins in it. It is as Simple as Select * from table_name.

Good morning,
Here is how I have solved this problem.
1. The select statement in the sql for the report should not include the BLOB column. I decided to select only 2 columns, the column that has the key and the column with the filename.
2. On the first column ( the primary key ) I put in the format statement that was simply DOWNLOAD:TABLENAME:BLOB_COLUMN:PRIMARY_KEY
This works. I believe that the Oracle error I was getting was because I was trying to apply this format statement to the actual BLOB column.
So, it appears that you can use any of the columns in the report to hold the DOWNLOAD format statement since in the format statement, you are defining the BLOB table, BLOB column and the primary key into that column.

How can I solve this problem?
Thanks for help.Your CSV-File use "comma" as separator. But Excel think, that CSV-File separator is "semicolon".
Try to set "CSV Separator"=";" in section "Report Attributes" - "Download". -
APEX Report Data Download in Excel and PDF format
Hi,
Can someone please guide me how to download APEX report data in Excel and PDF format.I know this is possible through BI Publisher but that is extra Licence cost for client so i don't want to use that option.

Problem in exporting report in CSV format

I am using Crystal Reports. Following are details about it:

I can create report in .rpt format, it is working fine here. But while trying to export this report in CSV format, it gives report that doesn't contain any information.
Is it because I am missing something or it is a known issue?

I too am facing the same problem.
The report was made in 8.5. I have exported the report & opened it in Crystal report 12.
I can export to PDF, RTF, DOC & Tab separated Test.
However when I export this report in .csv (legacy mode) I just get the header & when I export it in .csv (Standard) I get a blanck .csv file.
I have checked 'Isolate Report/Page sections' and 'Isolate Group sections'. Still no data in the report.
refreshed it too.
I contains sub reports, but not in the page header & footer (I think) & it does not seem to have cross tabs & OLAP grids.
Any help is appreciated.

ORA-20876 in csv export from interactive report = Possibly a bug?
Hi Apex team,
yesterday i tried to download data to csv from an interactive report. The resulting csv file contained a "ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine" only and no other data. I played around with other reports in my application and had no problems with exports.
After some investigation i found out that the buggy report contains a column of display type "Display as text (based on a LOV, escape special characters)". When I changed this column type to "Standard Report Column" for example, the error didn't appear anymore and the csv export contained complete data.
Maybe this is a bug? The environment is Apex 4.1.1.00.23 on 11g (UTF-8). Is there a workaround available?

The problem seems to occur only if a Shared Components LOV of type "Static" is referenced in the IR column.Hi,
what happens if you take the query from IR report and create a new classic report?
On this report enable csv export and then try the export.
Maybe that (format) data are causing export to fail.
Try to export just one row in your IR report (and classic report), so that you add where rownum < 2.

Time Out during Download of CSV file
Hello everybody,
I need some hints regarding CSV Downloads.
In some cases I am getting just blank pages after starting a CSV Download.
It seems to be related to the a,ount of data.
At about 5000 rows the download works fine, but with about 10.000 rows I am getting blank page.
It does not matter wether the download is started from an interactive report vie the menue or from a static report via the link.
I know that the query is running at about 20 seconds for the 5.000 rows.
A look into the Enterprise Manager tells me that the following function is using nearly all the CPU time during this session.

if your APEX applications are accessed from Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) you can increase the 'TimeOut' directive in the OHS configuration.
The default value for this directive is 300 seconds.

Hello All
I am new to APEX and have a problem. I have created several reports in APEX that allow users to extract data into Excel. However, one report says that No Data is Found in excel although data appears when report is run. Hope I am making my self clear.Arie,
in my case I must have hit a bug (still using Application Express 2.2.1.00.04): I observed this "no data found" issue, and worked around it by just disabling CSV export in the report settings and re-enabling it again afterwards.
I don't quit understand why we need to apply procedures likes those described in http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:117 : shouldn't a CSV export simply work when the corresponding report is non-empty?

I need to display a report on APEX with option for people to download at least CSV format.
I already have 1 inteactive report in the page, so don’t think can add another interactive report without using the iframe trick.

The requirements are:
The user must be able to request the extract for one or more calendar months, e.g.
May 2013
May 2013 – Sep 2013.
The file must contain a separate row for each calendar month in the requested range. Each row must contain the statistics computed for that calendar month.
The file must also include a row of totals.
The user must be able to request the extract for either Waitakere or Auckland or Consolidated (both courts’ statistics accumulated).
Then the part that I am stuck is
For each monitoring phase:
Phase name (e.g. “Phase One”)
Avg_time_in_phase_all_particip
for each phase name,
Add up days in each “phase name” Monitoring Phase, calculated as:
If Monitoring Phase.Date Finished is NULL or > month end date,

I try to do as required but still struggle to identify end_month for the above formula to display for the range of months.
Of course, I can write two nested cursor. The first one run the list of month, then for each month, run the parameterised report.
But I prefer if possible just use SQL statements, or at least a PL/SQL but return a query.
With this way, I can create an APEX report, and use their CSV Extract function.
Yes, you are right, court_name is one of the selection parameters.
And the statistics is not exactly for one month. It is kind of trying to identify all phases that are running through the specified month (even phase.date_started is before the month start).
This is the reason why I put the condition AND ph.date_started <= last_day(TO_DATE('Oct 2012','MON YYYY')) (otherwise I get negative avg_days)
User can choose either one court "AA" or "BB" or combined which is all figures.

In an apex application, when user downloads data from an apex report into csv, it loses the leading zeros because excel thinks it is a number.
Is there a way to keep the leading zeros?
ThanksI'm afraid but I think that the simplest way is to "quote" the string (so that Excel take it as "text").
Example:
SELECT
'="'|| c1 ||'"'
FROM
select 'MX190' c1 from dual
UNION ALL
select '00190' c1 from dual
Or, sometimes, I save the ".csv" file and load it with Excel's Wizard that allow to specify the column to be considered text ...
But for a normal user is a complex solution...

Hide / Show Column in Download to CSV
Hi,
I have an IR where I have to show a column in report, but hide it while downloading to CSV.
I get this by having a condition on this column -
NVL(:REQUEST,'EMPTY') NOT IN('CSV','XLS','PDF','XML','RTF') I also have a column where I have to hide it in the report, but show it while downloading to CSV.
I am able to hide it, but this column doesn't show up while downloading.
I am using this coundition on this column
NVL(:REQUEST,'EMPTY') IN('CSV','XLS','PDF','XML','RTF') APEX - 4.0.2

Can we export the APEX Report in Customized XL sheet.

I can download the APEX Report in .csv format but for eg; If I have an XL named as abc.xls and then, How can I download the APEX Report in the abc.xls file.

If you have the spreadsheet with a pre-formatted report that you want updated then this isn't really an APEX question. You can connect to the database using ODBC within excel and just refresh the data when needed.
