Downloaded Java ME SDK 3.0 but mising lcdui and midlet packages

Hi,
I have just started looking into J2ME and have downloaded and installed the SDK 3.0. i have tried also to setup a sample application from the Java site which requires imports of..
import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;but when compiling it says the packages do not exist. I have searched the source code and they are not there, do i need to install anything else to get these to work?
Thanks in advance
Graham

If you can run it under chrome, you have java installed.
There was some malware that exploited an older version of Java (not javascript) running in a Browser. Since few people use it Apple turned off Java by default in the Safari Browser.
If you need it for something, just turn it back on in Safari preferences (inside Safari). After a few months of non-use, you may find it has turned itself off again.

  • HT1338 I am trying to download java onto my macbook pro, but for some reason this function isn't recognizing the internet.  The error message insists that I am not connected but I am.  I have tried this through both safari and firefox

Sorry I didn't realize the above was just a subject line.
I have been trying to download java for my macbook pro, but for some reason the function is not recognizing the internet.  I am on and have checked several times .... I have checked through both safari and firefox but to no avail.  Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Not really a reply just some added info:
This is the error message I get saying the internet is not on, but clearly as I can send this message it has to be:
To open “Java Preferences,” you need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet.
I am connected through Wi-fi if that makes a difference.

  • Java ME SDK 3.4 problem running IMP-NG Midlets

    Hello!
I downloaded and installed the Java ME SDK 3.4 and I'm having trouble running a IMP-NG JAD. I don't know if it's a environment problem or a SDK bug...
If I make a JAD IMP-NG, I get a IllegalArgumentException when launching, even if we run using the Device Selector window, right-click on IMPNGDevice1. If I make it a IMP-1.0, it runs on simulator, but doesn't show in right-click on IMPNGDevice1... It seems to be checking the version (IMP-NG is 2.0, and simulator is 1.0?) but I don't see what's wrong.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Should I download Java EE SDK?

I am already using Netbeans 6.1 with JDK6. And I am supposed to build web applications from now on. I can see that the basic ones worked fine with JDK6(and a few additional downloads, as JSTL,etc.), but I am confused...
What is the difference between JEE SDK and JDK6, and if I want to use JEE SDK, what changes should I make in the IDE?
Could you please help me understand?

Yes, [download the J2EE JDK|http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/index.jsp]. I think I'd recommend the one on the right... "GlassFish Java EE + Tools"... It's gonna be a looooong night if you're still on dial-up ;-)

  • I have Java enabled in options -content but Microsoft help and community sites do not recognize this

when I try to search Microsoft Help and click on a link, I get redirected to a page which tells me that my browser cannot accept stuff and I need to turn on Java. But under firefox - tools - options - content the box for Enable Java has a tick in it

That isn't for '''''Java''''', that preference is for '''JavaScript'''.
Type '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and hit Enter. <br />
Does '''Java''' appear in that window?
You can also look in Tools > Addons > Plugins and see if Java is listed there AND see if it is enabled.

I have downloaded JAVA 2 SDK, SE v.1.4.0 and Forte for Java CE 3.0 without any trouble, but when I go to install it, I get stuck at the SDK installation screen, and nothing happens.
I did restart my computer after downoading the file, but that did not help. I have been looking at the installation screen now for about an hour. What do I do? Please, somebody help me.
    Thanks.

I had a similar problem with J2SDK 1.4.0 and Forte
    3.0 on a Win98 box. Realizing that J2SDK 1.4.0 is a
BETA release, I dropped back to J2SDK 1.3.0_02. It
    works fine!

  • Java 2 SDK v 1.3

Does anyone know where exactly I can download Java 2 SDK v 1.3?
I downloaded the 1.4 but I seem to be having problems with compatibility. (The school computers use 1.3 and some of their stuff did not work on my 1.4) (Oh, we are using Bluej to program)
    Thanks!

How did you resolve your problem ?
Do you use J2SE SDK and J2EE SDK ?
Do you know if j2sdk1.4.2_02 and j2sdkee1.3.1 are compatible ?

  • Java Me SDK Installation Question

    Dear Java Me Developers,
I downloaded Java Me SDK 3.3 (oracle-jmesdk-3-3-rr-win32-bin.exe) but I just cant find the main application.
When I go into the program folder I just see Custom Device Editor, Java Me Embedded Emulator, Java Me Mobile Emulator and Update Center.
Am I blind or where is it ^^?
    Greetings

    Hi,
    Sorry for the slow reply.
The Java ME SDK allows you to run embedded applications via the Java ME SDK Embedded Emulator or mobile applications via the Java ME SDK Mobile Emulator. If you have an existing mobile or embedded application start the respective emulator and then select the application to run. But the Java ME SDK does not feature a source code editor or other features of a full development environment.
For a full development environment, you will want to use an IDE such as Eclipse or NetBeans. The plugins that come with the Java ME SDK integrate the Java ME SDK emulators, device editor, and other tools into Eclipse or NetBeans which makes for a complete development environment.
For a good guide on getting started, see the Java ME SDK "Developers Guide" for NetBeans (http://docs.oracle.com/javame/dev-tools/jme-sdk-3.4/nb/html/toc.htm) or Eclipse (http://docs.oracle.com/javame/dev-tools/jme-sdk-3.4/ecl/html/toc.htm).
    Hope that helps,

  • Cannot Reinstall Java EE SDK 5

Ok, let me try to explain the situation and then hopefully some one will be able to help.
I installed the Java EE SDK 5 using the standard windows installer downloaded from Sun and everything worked fine. It added its bin directory to my users path and everything supposedly was working fine (I'm running XP, btw).
I then installed Eclipse Europa and when I went to start eclipse up it could not locate the JRE. I uninstalled eclipse and installed it again and it still could not find it. So I tried to reinstall Java EE SDK 5 and it informed me that if I did not uninstall the prior installation the installation might fail.
So, I deleted the Sun directory, thinking that that is what the installer meant by uninstall (obviously a mistake). I went to install the Java SDK again and this time the first message it gives me is that the installation is still there. However, I know it's not there so I say continue and then it prompts me next for whether or not I want to create the non-existent folder (inconsistent, as it just told me the folder was there, and now it nows that it's not), I say I do. However, then when the installer is done, nothing shows up in the newly created Sun folder but a few files that don't appear to do anything.
I did research online and found that there was supposedly an uninstall program in the folder that I had just trashed so I got a copy of that program from a cubicle mate of mine and placed it into the C:\Sun\SDK directory and ran it, only to discover that it could not be run because I didn't have JRE 1.5. So I installed Java SE SDK 5 into a custom folder and ran the uninstall program using the JRE that get's installed when you install that and then re-attempted to install Java EE SDK 5 into the standard location and the same exact error is happening where it tells me the install is already there, then tells me that the folder doesn't exist, then installs nothing when I'm past those two points.
Sorry, I know that was lengthy but I figure thorough is better than the alternative.
    Any thoughts?
All I want to do is get Java EE SDK 5 installed so I can use Eclipse. If there is an easier way to do this then I'm open to that.
    Thanks in advance!
    Timmy V.

Last J2EE which worked with Windows 98 (with some manual workarounds!) was J2EE 1.3.1. You can still download it from here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/
For manual workarounds required to get this to run on Windows 98 you can check this:
