Has anyone heard of this? I am a new mac user and I am not sure what I have done. Thoughts?

It looks like it was selected and you typed it yourself.
Select the Library and click on the text next to the icon.
The background of the text changes to light blue, to show you it can be edited now.

TS1584 I had my iTunes libray on my old PC, just transferred to my new PC, downloaded iTunes, and my library is there, but can't play songs, says can't locate original files?

I had my iTunes library on my old Dell Inspiron, transferred all info to my new HP Pavilion PC, downloaded iTunes and my library is there, but when I try to play songs, it says can't play because can't locate the original files...how can I activate the songs to play? The iTunes library is also in my Windows media file, and the songs will play in there, but I set iTunes as my default music manager and want the songs activated in my iTunes library so I can play them and sync my iPod. Help? Thanks.

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

MacBook Pro-'the disk copy of "file name" was changed...'

My MacBook Pro has been running very slowly. Occasionally, the message 'The disk copy of "file name" was changed since you last opened of saved it. Do you want to save it anyway?" when attempting to save photoshop files. It also tells me my start up drive is nearly full but it is not. I'm guessing the these are related. Anyone else experiencing this?

256 SSD
OSX Lion 10.7.2
I have seen this with Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver CS 5, and Eclipse.
I am growing concerned that this is either the SSD starting to fail or possibly the new Spotlight index algorithm.
Would really like to see if anyone has a fix.

You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

Downloading mp3s and getting only the exhortation to buy quicktime pro

Hi there,
I do IT support for distance ed. students at a university, and some of them who are PC users are having trouble downloading mp3 files of lectures. When they right-click, there is no option to 'save target as', only the invitation to purchase Quicktime Pro. It's my understanding that it SHOULDN'T be necessary to purchase this product in order to download these files. What can I suggest that they do to remedy this inability to download mp3s?

MP3-MPEG layer III movies and streams and put a check in the boxes, MP3 audio and MP3 playlist
But it still only gives me the PRO save as source option.

My Game Center Name was changed

So I wanted to change my name on Game Center. When I did I found my games that had been linked to that name were changed and reset to zero. I don't want to replay all those games, some I've put months into. I tried to change my name back but it said it as taken. Help?!

What happens when you try to log out and log into your new Account. Note that the games/apps are locked to the account that purchased them.

After downloading Lion and restarting my harddrive was wiped?

I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen but after restarting it came up with a weird screen that had some startup icons like recover time machine and reinstall lion
None of my stuff is on my computer anymore and the screen doesn't have a dock, I'm not sure what to do and I'm scared everything on my computer is completely gone. The only things I am able to do is "Select Macintosh HD to start up your computer" and "Restart"
If I restart what will happen? I'm scared to touch anything. I talked with a friend who downloaded Lion and he said this didn't happen for him. My computer is up to the requirements stated on the Lion page but I didn't refer to it before installing.
I'm not very good with computers either so this might just be something that happens that I didn't know how to deal with

Stalling downloads: MP3s and youtube videos, etc

I have a persistent problem with both my G4 Powerbook and my G5 iMac using Airport Extreme cards on a wi-fi network ... when I download large files like youtube clips or MP3s or software they typically stall after 4-6 MB has downloaded. I called support for the wireless Ativa router and we changed the MTU (max transmission unit) on the router.... things are working fine for downloads on the desktop that the router is connected to, but I haven't solved the problem for my wireless yet.... Any advice?

Apparently, the router has a firewall and the typical NAT layer protection and the person is saying to turn off the firewall.

Will all my playlists and songs be ok after I organized and consolidated library that was already on external hard drive

I am organizing and consolidating my library in the hopes of keeping all my playlists and libraries intact on myWestern Digital external hard drive. My current computer, an HP Dv6 Pavillion running Windows 7 is going in for repair for the 2nd time. When it came back to me to the first time, ITunes was still there unscathed. I just don't want to take a chance. If anyone has any ideas to help.

When this happens (used to happen to me a LOT), iTunes will have a backup .itl file in the iTunes folder. Delete the newly created .itl file, rename the backup to iTunes Library.it, and point iTunes to this existing library. Everything should be back.
I'd guess you have a large library. Mine started doing this when I got over 50k or so songs, and would happen as I was doing massive updates to the library.
