Downloading pictures from a Nikon digital camera to an iPad

Can I directly download pictures from my Nikon camera directly to my iPad?  If so how?
Thanks

I think so, with the Camera Connection Kit... http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A/apple-ipad-camera-connection-kit?fno de=3a

  • Why does my computer freeze when trying to download pictures from my pentax digital camera?

My computer works fine until I insert my camera download cord into the USB port.  Then it freezes.  This is a recent problem.  Last download of pictures was done successfully over the Xmas holidays.

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
When you have problems updating software, that's a good time to check the startup disk. Launch Disk Utility  /Applications/Utiliites
Follow instructions here > Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • I can't download pictures from my Nikon Coolpix 990 to IPhoto6.

I can't download pictures from my Nikon Coolpix 990 to IPhoto6. The computer recognizes it on the UBS port but IPhoto won't. I have tried both direct input and using a media card without success. I think it did work a year ago but I'm not sure. That might have been an earlier version of IPhoto then. Any suggestions?

First try reapplying the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC) or the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel), whichever is appropriate. Follow that by a repair of disk permissions and another reboot.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can I download pictures from my Kodak didgital camera directly to my HP

Can I download pictures from my Kodak didgital camera directly to my HP or do I have to use the Kodak software?

Hi ounce again Kathleensarah: Yes I belive you can as long as you have the right cable from camera to computer just follow windows pop ups from your task bar and the white box. The computer may make a search and download drivers and software for it. If you have the software that came with the camera that is better. I belive it will still open open the file. Plus I just check my computer HP Touchmart 600-1050 they have a slot where you put in memory card sd thing. That is located right side below volume switch can insert card what every they call flat thing that goes inside of cameras. Lap tops and Hp Printers have these same ports as well.

You can't directly from a Galaxy phone.  But you can certainly upload the pictures from your Galaxy phone to your computer and then sync them to your iPad via iTunes.

  • How does one import just 1 picture from one's digital camera?

I have 700 pictures on my digital camera and I only want to import one picture. Is this possible? How do I do it?
    Thank you.

If your camera mounts on the desktop as an external device, then it's as simple as choosing File > Import to Library, then navigating to the camera and selecting the photo you want.
If not, use Image Capture, found in the Applications folder, to import. Save it to the desktop, then open iPhoto and import it. You can delete the first location once the file is imported into iPhoto.
A third way is to use a card reader. It will mount on the desktop, even if your camera does not. With a card reader, you can always preview the files before you import, and select only the ones you want. IMO, it's the best way to import.
Here's one more trick, copied from MacOSXHints.com: "In iPhoto 6.0.4, when you attach a digital camera and see the import screen, press the Return key on your keyboard twice in succession. iPhoto will switch to editing mode, showing all pictures that reside on the digital camera. You cannot make changes to the pictures, nor can you drag the pictures individually to your iPhoto library, but you can see everything on the camera." Old Toad says you can use this trick to drag one photo into the library, but that it only works with one at a time and is very slow. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4079344&#4079344

  • Cannot load pictures from Fuji F10 digital camera onto OSX 10.5.2

I cannot load pictures from my fuji F10 digital camera. The Fuji support site does not appear to have any firmware that would allow compatibility between the two but was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I can't even bring them over using a zip drive because I get an error stating that the files are corrupt. any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

What brand of camera do you have? Perhaps you might take it up with the manufacturer, after all, they are the ones who decide whether to support mounting on the OS X Desktop.
Given the amount of pictures I take, constantly taking my card in and out of the camera puts wear and tear on it,
Using a USB Card Reader is a much better and safer way to transfer your photos:
    1. Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
    2. It saves the battery on your camera
    3. It saves wear and tear on your camera ports - and replacing a worn USB port on a camera is somewhat more expensive than replacing a camera card - and what "wear and tear" is there on a card?
    4. It’s almost always faster.

  • I am trying to download pictures from my canon rebel  eos to my Ipad but i get the message "this device is not supported" what can I do ?

I just bought an Apple Lighting to USB Camera Adapter. When I got home to and connected it to my Canon Rebel EOS Digital Camera. I received the error message "This device is not supported" I was wondering if there is any software or drivers I need to download?
    Thanks
    Don

I use Canon Cameras and have no problems downloading photos from the camera to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. My questions and suggestions might be basic but just to make sure:
    1. This is an iPad forum area. Are you using the lightning to USB camera adapter with an iPad? Your info in your original post says iPod. I'm not sure that the adapter works with an iPod.
    2. After you connect the adapter to your iPad and then use a USB cable to connect the adapter to the camera did you turn on the camera?
    3. If you did turn on the camera and still did not get the import of photos to start try a reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. This will not cause any data loss.

  • Downloading pictures from a  camera phone.

How do you download pictures from a (Motorola RAZR ) camera phone?

I use Bluetooth to transfer photos from my phone, which is a Sony Ericcson. It's so easy. My iMac has built in bluetooth and I can also use a cheapo bluetooth dongle with my iBook because the iBook doesn't have inbuilt Bluetooth. It plugs into the USB port.
It's so easy, works automatically without a hitch. It's simply a case of browsing the device - your phone - navigating to the image folder on your phone and transferring them over.

  • I cannot download pictures from my camera to my computer

I cannot download pictures from my Sony Mavica camera MVC-FD92 to my Windows 7 64 bit Sony Vaio laptop.
    The error message reads:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer system information to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher.

Depending on which 64 bit edition of Windows 7 you have,
you may be able to install a virtual PC on your machine and run
Windows XP in a virtual environment. This will allow you to
install the Sony USBDRVEN drivers. Go here,
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/
and learn more about it. You may have to upgrade to Windows
    Professional 64 bit.

  • Just got my new ipad2. Wondering if there is a way to download pictures from my digital cameras?

Just got my new ipad2. Is there a way to download pictures from my digital cameras?

If your camera has SD cards you can buy and use the camera connection kit and transfer the photos from the card to your iPad. If it doesn't have SD cards you can still use the CKK, but with a USB cable. Doing it the USB way does have issues and mixed successes because some drivers don't play well with the iPad
