Drag and Drop with a JTable and a JList

Hi all,
I want to implement a featue that allows users to drag an item from a table and trop it onto a JList.
This all is all working fine so far. What I can not figure out is how to give the user a visual clue that they can not drop items on selected notes in the JList.
My JList has two (2) items on which the user can not drop a item. Now, how can I give the user a visual clue (Set a different selectionBackground) to let them know that this is not a drop darget. A small code snipped would be great or any help for that matter
Thanks Oscar

Your DropTargetListener, receives events when the cursor moves over the Table or List. On dragEnter, you receive a DropTargetDragEvent. Call rejectDrag to indicate that you don't want to allow a drop.
The DropTargetListener also has a reference to the Table or List that is is listening for, so it could call a method on the Table to change the colour of the field as well, if you want to tie it as closly to the control.

  • Drag n Drop with Non-embedded Images?

    Hi,
    All of the Drag 'n Drop demos use an embedded image. For
    example:
    [Embed(source='someImage.jpg')]
    public var someImage:Class;
    // in the drag handler...
    var imageProxy:Image = new Image();
    imageProxy.source = someImage;
    And that works. However, this doesn't work:
    <mx:Image id="myImage" source="someImage.jpg"/>
    // in the drag handler...
    var imageProxy:Image = new Image();
    imageProxy.source = myImage.source;
    Am I missing something? Or is embedding mandatory?

    Hi,
    another idea:
    Go to analysis mode in your workbook.
    a) Select your analysis grid.
    At general tab -> activate "apply formatting" and "allow navigation".
    Refer here: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s//HELPDATA/EN/85/1321d0b7864766b5208a0b221a7608/frameset.htm]
    or
    b) Select navigation pane
    Activate "Allow navigation"
    Refer here:

    Good luck

    I can't figure out what kind of Error this is!? Can someone help me? How can i solve this Problem!?

    Ihre Objekte sind zu mir gehören!!! LOL I took a year of German, stayed in Berlin for a month and all I can remember is... Scheiße!
    Ok, so about this problem of yours... it's been brought up in this forum before -- Error 1009 on drag/drop events within lists when those lists are not in the main application domain (whether it's a pop up or some module). See the post here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2354888#2354888
    A bug was supposed to have been created for this issue. If not, I recommend you submit a new bug and reference yours and the other post's test case. Also worth asking the other poster if they came up with a workaround.
    My hunch is that whatever is tripping you up is internal and non trivial (i.e. I have no idea why this is happening and have no obvious workaround for you ). Best o luck,

  • Has something happened with drag n drop in ff11?

    Ok, since ive updated to ff11, drag n drop with images no longer seems to work. before when i went onto google images to find images i was able to just drag an image into the page and of it goes, but now whenever i try it the cursor just become and black circle with a line through it signifying that that cant be done. Has something happened to the drag n drop feature from before the ff11 release, i was able to do it fine then???
    Anyhelp?

    No, i dont use skype click-to-call, never heard of it.
    Before i upgraded, i was able to go onto images.google.com then go into the My Pictures folder click and drag an image from that folder onto firefox to make google images become the top window then continue to drag to the search box to make the window show saying "drop image here" the drop it and it searches for that image. No MS Office apps involved.
    *Update* while writing this message and going through the steps my self to give as much detail as possible, ff now allowed me to drop an image into google images to search for it, so it appears the prob has fixed itself? I do not know why it now works as opposed to the other day, as far as i am aware, nothing has changed. I only updated to ff11 the other day after i found out that avg link scanner was now compatible with ff11 and was going to downgrade ff to the previous version so that drag n drop would work again so it appears i may now not have to. I will keep this open for the next few days in case drag n drop stops working again which will save me having to re-create this post.

  • Drag n Drop In Jtable

    Hiii Guys......
    I need a code for drag n drop feature in JTable.
    i need that, i should be able to interchange value of two cells in the same Jtable with drag n drop..... with values getting changed in the database also......

    What code have you written so far?

  • Drag n Drop in sequence ?

    I'm using drag n drop with 6 symbols, would have a sequence type, symbol 1, symbol 2, 3 ... symbol not allowing drag the symbols before completing the symbol 1? Tks

    I am assuming you want to allow dragging of symbol 2 only after dragging of symbol1 and so on.
    If you are using jqueryui for making symbols draggable you can call 'draggable' function on symbol2 only after symbol1 is dragged.

  • How to outline selected cells during drag and drop in the jtable

    Hi,
    I have spent a lot of time to find out how to outline selected cells during drag in the jtable, but I did not find the answer.
    Can anybody give me a tip, where to read more about this problem or even better, give an example...
    I have the following situation:
    1.Table has 10 rows and 10 columns
    2.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION) and setCellSelectionEnabled(true)
    3.user select 5 cells in 4th row (for example cell45,cell46,cell47,cell48 and cell49)
    4.user starts dragging. During dragging an outline should be drawn. Outline should be a rectangular with width of 5 cells and height of one cell. Outline should move according to the mouse position.
    5.rectangular disappears when dropped

    In "createTransferable" you can create a drag image
    which you can paint in "dragOver" and clear in "drop" method of DropTarget :

  • Must click then click and drag for JTable Drag and Drop

    Hi All,
    I've been using Java 1.4 to drag and drop data between two tables in our application. Basically I need to drag the data from individual rows of the source table and insert it into one of the cells in the new table. This works absolutely fine and has made a huge improvement to this portion of our app. I've included example source code below that does a similar thing by transferring data from one table and inserting it into another (it's quite big and also not as well done as the example in our real app but unfortunately I can't send the source for that).
    The thing I've noticed though is that in order to start dragging data I need to click to select it and then press and hold the mouse button to start dragging, whereas under W**dows and just about every other OS you can just press and hold and start dragging straight away. If you try this with a JTable though it just changes the rows you have selected so the drag and drop works but feels a bit clunky and amateurish. I'd like to do something about this such that it works like Windows Explorer (or similar) where you can just press the mouse button and start dragging.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated - and if anybody finds the code useful you're more than welcome to it. Note that the business end of this is CustomTransferHandler.java - this will show you how to insert data at a specific position in a JTable, it's a bit of a faff but not too bad once you've got it sussed.
    Thanks,
    Bart Read

    Hi again,
    Well I've tried using the MouseListener / MouseMotionListener approach but it doesn't quite seem to work, although it does get the events correctly. I think the reason is that it doesn't interact correctly with the Java DnD machinery which is something that V.V hinted at. It's something that I may need to look into if / when I have more time available.
    I have to say though that I haven't had any problems with scrollbars - we're making fairly heavy use of large tables and if you drag over a table with a scroll bar and move to the top or bottom then it scrolls as you would expect and allows you to drop the data where you like. For this situation I've used pretty much the same approach as for the toy example above except that I've implemented separate source and destination TransferHandlers (the source table is read-only, and it really doesn't make sense to allow people to drag from the destination table so I've essentially split the functionality of the example handler down the middle).
    I'm not actually particularly in favour of messing too much with the mechanics of DnD, more because of lack of time than anything else. Guess I'll just have to put up with this for the moment. Doesn't help that DnD is so poorly documented by Sun.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Drag and Drop between two JTables

    I tried to implement drag and drop between two JTables using data transfer, but i did not get it to work, that dnd works in both directions. i have my own transferhandler, but if is use setTransferHandler(handler), i'm no longer able to start a drag from that table. i also tried to use a mouse listener to call exportAsDrag, but i only works in one direction. any ideas or examples?

    That is a rather large request, and indicates that you have likely not spent much time researching the subject before posting. Read up on Swing drag & drop here (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/dnd/), then ask specific questions about something you don't understand, problems with your implementation, etc.

  • Is it possibiel to disable drag and drop of JTable columns?

    Hi,
    Using JDK6 I would like to disable user to drag and drop columns and change the default layout of my JTables.
    Thanks for any help,

    Using JDK6 I would like to disable user to drag and drop columns Read the JTableHeader API. You can prevent reordering of the columns.
    and change the default layout of my JTables.How do you expect us to answser this??? What do you mean by changing the layout? Whats wrong with row and column and what do you want to change it to?

    I'm surprised that there isn't an Active X control that can do this more
    easily? Would
    be curious to find out if there is - although we aren't really embracing the

    Subject: Problems with ListViews Drag and Drop
    I am just curious as to other people's experiences with the ListView
    widget when elements in it are set to be draggable. In particular, I am
    currently trying to design an interface that looks a lot like Windows
    Explorer where a TreeView resides on the left side of the window and a
    ListView resides on the right side. Upon double clicking on the
    ListView, if the current node that was clicked on was a folder, then the
    TreeView expands this folder and the contents are then displayed in the
    ListView, otherwise, it was a file and it is brought up in Microsoft
    Word. All this works great if I don't have the elements in the ListView
    widget set to be draggable. If they are set to be draggable, then I am
    finding that the DoubleClick event seems to get registered twice along
    with the ObjectDrop event. This is not good because if I double click
    and the current node is a folder, then it will expand this folder in the
    TreeView, display the contents in the ListView, grab the node that is
    now displayed where that node used to be displayed and run the events
    for that as well. What this means, is that if this is a file, then Word
    is just launched and no big deal. Unfortunately, if this happens to be
    another directory, then the previous directory is dropped into this
    current directory and a recursive copy gets performed, giving me one
    heck of a deep directory tree for that folder.
    Has anybody else seen this, or am I the only lucky one to experience.
    If need be, I do have this exported in a .pex file if anybody needs to
    look at it more closely.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Working in Logic 9, how do I use a drum loop WITH ITS PRESET EFFECTS? I can drag and drop the loop but it plays dry in timeline. thanks

    Working in Logic 9, how do I use a drum loop WITH ITS PRESET EFFECTS? I can drag and drop the loop but it plays dry in timeline. thanks

    Here's the short-cut solution:
    Green Apple tracks are MIDI files (so to speak). If you drag one from the loop browser (Capitol C Orchestral hit, as you mentioned in this exable) directly into the arrange page it creates the MIDI file and the instrument to play it back on.
    HOWEVER.If you create and audio track first, THEN drag the green Apple loop onto that track, the loop will get "bounced" with the reverb in tact and you'll have the exact sound that you heard in the preview.
    Make sense?
