Dreamweaver Closes At Startup

Hello,
I just re-formatted my system with XP. I installed
Dreamweaver and whenever I try to start it up, it closes right when
the main window opens (just after splash screen). This is very
annoying. If it helps, the 1st time I ran it, I asked if I wanted
the Coder or Designer layout...
Thanks,
Mikael

It does ask you that .. so you've had it open once anyway. Do
you have a
firewall running that might be blocking it? Windows Firewall,
for example?
What about an antivirus program?

  • Dreamweaver CC & CC 2014 closes on startup

I installed Dreamweaver CC 2014 and it closes on startup. Dreamweaver CC stopped working also. (all other CC 2014 apps are working)
I created a new user account and tested. Both Dreamweaver versions works there...
    I have:
tried with java 1.6 and 1.8
uninstalled (with cleaner) and re-installed removing settings
removed all files in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
removed all adobe file in ~/Library/Preferences/
run Disk Utility and repaired permissions and disk
logged in without all startup items
checked for bad fonts with Font Book
Still everything works on my new test account, but not on my nomal account
    I can't find any logs...

I'm sorry to hear that this happened and that your circumstances are different than mine.  My issue happened during one of the new Mac OS installs.  I used to either archive and install or do clean installs whenever I updated OSX because it has been unreliable at times to update and re-configure permission with each new release.  However with the new app store approach these options are no longer available.
Moving files between user accounts is not an overly difficult task, although it can be time consuming, a couple hours max.  Regardless, it is probably better to do this now then to wait for more problems to occur because corrupt user profiles do happen at times on Mac (and occasionally Windows too) and has been known to affect more software than just Adobe.  Below are some steps involved to help get you started:
First, programs do not need to be migrated in the default setup. Unless you are on a system controlled by an administrator whereby each user installs their own, I don't think this should be an issue.
Next, just create a new account (with admin privileges if your current account is an admin).
    Then go to the finder and copy the files from your old user account to the new one.  This is located at Macintosh HD :: Users :: {username}
Then go to the preferences folder in the user library.  For this log in as your current account, then use the Go to Folder command ( Shift + Cmd + G ).  For the most part only the Application Support folder needs to be brought over.  There are a few exceptions like Firefox/Mozilla profiles are in their own folder in the Library.  Outside of that you should be good to go.

  • ITunes Encountered a problem and needs to close on startup

    Hi -
I'm running the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1.5) on a desktop computer with Windows XP (SP2) and I've had no problems with it up until today. After using iTunes fine yesterday, I tried to open it up today and I get a Windows error message saying "iTunes has encountered an problem and needs to close" on startup before the iTunes window even pops up at all. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes as well as replacing the library files with those from another computer (sometimes the ones on this computer get corrupted). But neither of those have changed anything, I still get the same message every time, no matter what I try or how many times I restart. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I can provide any additional information that might be helpful.
      Windows XP Pro

I did get a "server busy" message when I loaded quicktime, but I'm not sure if it is related or not since I've been seeing that over the last couple of days, I can't remember if it came before iTunes stopped working or not. That message reads "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." My options then are to choose switch to or retry. When I press "switch to" my Start menu opens, and nothing appears to happen when I select retry.
that's an odd sort of a message (or series of messages).
hmmmmm. let's try an experiment aimed at working out if there's a program interfering with the QuickTime (which is in turn causing grief with your iTunes).
try a selective startup using MSCONFIG, with just the itunes and QuickTime background processes enabled, as per the following document:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
does QT open without the strange message after the selective startup?
    does iTunes launch properly?

  • Dreamweaver closes when clicking on Commands

How can I fix the Commands and Help menu options so when I click on them, Dreamweaver will not close?  I want to create a photo album but when I click on either of these two options, Dreamweaver closes.

Ok, well an error has to coming from somewhere.  Even Windows or Mac OS will pop up their boxes at the very least.
If not, the most you can do at this point is de-activate the program, then run the clean script and then re-install and re-activate.

  • Dreamweaver Crashes on Startup

After many months of Dreamweaver CS4 on my Mac working fine, it suddenly started crashing on startup. Just before this problem started, I was working in a file based on a template. An error message came up, and unfortunately I didn't write down what it said. I do remember pieces of it. It was regarding a javascript error and had the following parts that I remember, onblur, description.htm, and line 69 (I think). Dreamweaver soon crashed, and now it just gets past the Welcome screen and crashes. I have searched the Dreamweaver forum, and based on suggestions have done the following:
    deleted the cache file
added more text to files that were 8kb
    deleted the configuration folder
renamed the file I was last working on before the crash
    deleted Dreamweaver CS4 Preferences file
    Disabled the Welcome screen
At one point in all this, I was getting a message when Dreamweaver was unable to read preview in browser preferences, and please remove all browsers form the list and add them again--but I am no longer getting that message.
After hours of trying to solve this I got so frustrated I even tried to call Adobe support, knowing that I would have to pay dearly for help. I was on hold for 45 minutes, and finally gave up.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me with this.

I dont have an answer to your problem, but I do know that the best way to get through to adobe is to NOT press the button for customer support, but to go to techincal support.  I had an issue, twice, if I recall correctly I was on hold for way too long, went back, pushed the TS button, live help (his name was Bob with a foreign accent...nuff said) and problem was solved in 10 minutes.

  • Dreamweaver crashing at startup

OK...out of the blue Dreamweaver stops loading. I see the
startup screen, begins to load the site cache and then disappears.
I've tried reinstalling, deleting the user config file...but
nothing seems to make it work. Very frustrating when you are on a
    deadline. HELP!

I can only point you to the Adobe tech notes -
    Troubleshooting Dreamweaver
    on Windows:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15481&sliceId=1
See if there's anything there that may help. If the site
    cache is trying to
load and then stops maybe it's a corrupted site definition.

  • Dreamweaver crashes a startup

    Dear people,
The strangest error occurs when I install my adobe package.
ALL the programs work fine, exept for Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver
starts up, but the last thing in the loading screen which I can see
is initiating files, and then it crashes (or stops loading
    anyways).
    Info:
    - I tried multiple adobe versions (also one of my roommates),
but they all show the same result.
    - Every other program works just fine
    - I tried dumping all my website files in the trashcan
(Dreamweaver worked fine on my old computer, I'm now trying to
install it on my new laptop) to check if there was a corrupted file
in it. This did not change anything.
    My OS is windows vista.
Does this sound familliar to any of you guys? Hope you can
    help.

Yea, I got lazy and bought an "out-of-the-box" HP computer. I
    spent at
least an hour deleting/disabling stuff that had nothing to do
    with what
I need in a computer - before installing any of my software.
Turns out that may not have been the most efficient way to
    obtain/set
    up a new computer.

I found a solution that worked for me.
I removed all the fonts that Adobe CC installed out of my Library:Fonts folder and just left in the Apple Basic fonts like Arial, Courier etc... Launched Dreamweaver CC and the CSS designer panel works. I have no idea exactly which font it is, or creating the conflict. All I know is that it works great now.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 slow startup on MAC

Dreamweaver takes 5-7 minutes to startup on my mac while on
the PC it is more like 5-7 seconds. Why the drastic difference? The

  • Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 Closes on Startup

So my problem is quite simple, I do motion design, and to import logos into Cinema 4D i need to make them into paths within Illustrator, but whenever i open up Illustrator, it closes straight away without any crash reports, nothing, just closes without anything popping up for no reason, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times but with no difference in the way it runs(still does exactly the same thing - closes down). Im running windows 8.1 64-bit and Illustrator worked fine when i used Cs6 but not CC 2014.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Alex,
You can follow the article: Illustrator CC or InDesign CC crashes at launch and Illustrator CC crashes at launch which will help you to get the crash issues fixed with Adobe Illustrator CC.
You can also follow the thread: Illustrator CC Crashes on Launch where this issue is already discussed and stands resolved.
Let us know if it works or not.

  • OLC has encountered a problem and needs to close on startup

Downloaded the trial of OnLocation on my Gateway Windows XP laptop and I get an error saying
"Adobe OnLocation.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Asks to send error report, etc.
It does this while "Loading panels" on the splash screen.
    Premiere seems to work fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Ahh - I've had some luck. I found out that by running dxdiag.exe to analyse directx that my 3D functions were disabled. By trolling through old forums I found one that suggested using the original screen drivers for my laptop - which i managed to find in my downloads directory and installed them. Also, I read on another forum that another brand of graphics card likes contiguous disk space if it needs to use any virtual memory. So armed with this knowledge i cleared a big chunk of drive space. In my travels I came across a great utility called ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) - definately worth a look to clean up your windows installation (and be nice by leaving the writer a bit of spare coin)!
After too many hours (like the whole night - and I'm working today) I finally have On Location up and running again. If only Adobe could have helped me out earlier!!! Electronic equipment never used to give us this grief just to get to the starting line.
Hope this helps one of you :-)

  • Trial After Effects CC 2014 closes after startup

I've just installed trial version of After Effects CC 2014 (13.0.2). But there is no way to actually TRY IT, because it closes right after it starts, and all I see is this:
Button "Continue Trial" doesn't do anything but closing it's own window.
Is there a way to run AE?
    PS: Windows 7 x64

Without exact system info and possibly crash logs nobody can say anything. Could be the licensing system acting up, could be a hard program crash due to insufficient resources and your system not meeting the requirements.

  • Photoshop CC closes at startup

    Hi.
Today I installed Photoshop CC, but it just closes after the splash screen, I can see Photoshop in 2-3 seconds before everything closes.
I've tried restoring fonts and such by holding shift when starting, I've also tried resetting the settings by holding shift, alt + ctrl, but nothing helps.
I've also tried logging out and in again with Creative cloud with and without restart.
I've also updated my nVidia Gforce GTX 660 Ti drivers.
Right now I'm trying to remove and reinstall Photoshop CC, altough I can't imagine this would help!
    Any good tips out there?
Is there somekind of fault log I can find and post here?

Yes, tried to log out and in.
    Even reinstalled Creative cloud.
Two days ago I had a fairly long chat / remote desktop session with Adobe support.
After a lot of questioning about mostly the same as mentioned here, they took over my computer, tried some permissions changes in Adobe folders in Appdata, Program files and such, tried a new administrator user on the computer, then tried to show the hidden admin user in windows, but non of these worked.
Then the problem was that I had Norwegian Windows, then it was hard for him to understand and he said they didn't have the opportunity to help me any more.
I then had to call Adobe Norway, but Adobe "Norway" is really just a call center somewhere in India or something I'll guess.
And offcourse, they are only open the same hours as I'm at work...
So the nice man at Adobe "Norway" said I could try to call Adobe US and get help there.
So I'll see if I get the time to call them tonight.
    I'll keep you posted!
For my part this is starting to smell more and more like a good old Format C:/

  • Dreamweaver crashes on startup - check the Common folder

    CS3 build3841 and OSX 10.5.8
I tried deleting Dreamweaver sitecache and configuration folder, but nothing worked.  I noticed a folder named "9" in the Common folder here:
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/9
I renamed it to "9 test", booted up dreamweaver and it worked.   I quit DW and  then restored the folder name back to "9".  Booted up dreamweaver again and it still works.
So you might want to rename or move whatever is in that "Common" folder and see if that helps.
    Hope that helps someone.
