Dreamweaver CS4 display issue

Hi all
I have a really weird problem and it only seems to affect certain pages I create but when I go into design view when looking to edit a page, some of the page doesn't display within DW, if I click in the area and go to split view I can see the relevant text showing in the code view or the link to an image if that is what is clicked on.
The only way I can resolve this is to goto the view menu and choose not to display styles under style rendering, then of course I do not see the page as it will look in a browser but I can then edit, insert or remove text which when I then check to display in a browser works fine with all css applied.
These pages in the main were created in DW CS3 so not sure if that is the issue but I just cannot seem to resolve the issue so any advice or ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Omron

Thanks for the reply Bregent, the interesting thing is it displays perfectly well in IE, Firefox and Chrome so not sure it is a code error however here is the code:

  • Dreamweaver CS4 displays generic icon

This is not a functional problem, but being a visual perso
n, its driving me crazy. Dreamweaver CS4 displays a generic icon on my desktop, o
n the start menu, and also in the installation directory. All of the other CS4 programs (from Design Premium) display properly. I have tried reinstalling Dreamweaver, replacing the icon manually ("change icon") and done a disk cleanup to get rid of any temp and cached files but to no avail.
Any idea what is causing this or how to fix? I am running Windows 7 Pro.
    Thanks
    Donna S

I have the same problem except with ALL jpegs, not just small ones. Other file types (pdfs, eg) preview just fine in cover flow, and I am able to open all the jpgs by themselves in any program, they just don't render in cover flow.
I think this happened in conjunction with the upgrade to 10.5.1.
Any help would be most appreciated!

  • Dreamweaver CS4 strange issues happening

Suddenly when I do a find and replace and I do a carriage return in the replace portion of the find/replace window to make my edit go to an extra line, the carriage return occurs behind it on the page I'm editing. It doesn't add a <p> tag in the document, just kind of highlights what I have in the find window and each time I hit Enter the next instance of the what I'm trying to find gets highlighted.
    Also, when I try to add <strong> tags to my document this appears on the page instead &lt;strong&gt;
    What the hell?
I tried recreating my configuration folder (I'm on Windows Vista) but it still happens.
    Any ideas??

Re :Re: Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta
    Just a thought ...
    This may help!
Uninstall the Beta Version of Photoshop CS6 now and then restart your computer and see if that works.
Open the CS4 programs and see if that fixed the problem and it is all working as it should again.
    It is worth a try!
    All the best.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta

    Hi All,
I'm having issues with Dreamweaver CS4 after installing Photoshop CS6 Beta. I'm getting the follwing erros when trying to open any html file (see attached image).
Once I click OK, the file will open, also now; any copy and paste commands will not work. Anyone else experiencing any problems with other apps after installing this beta version?
Any help and feedback is much appreciated, thanks!

  • Dreamweaver cs4 layout issues

    Hi
I am using Dreamweaver CS4. When i am designing my web page, I get a totally different look when I am in design view and when I switch to live view. Can you tell me why is this???

It's because Design view is only a rough approximation and shouldn't be used as a final word for how the page will look in the browser.  Live view is an actual browser (WebKit = Safari), and should render the page as it would look, in Safari at least.
If you are seeing a big difference between the two, however, then it's likely you have some underlying coding issues.  Does your page validate here?

  • CS4 – display issues... revived

    Hi....
Has anyone found a solution to this?

Have you tried changing your GPU settings in PS preferences?
Edit: Just remembered that this problem only happened to me with Photoshop - it did not affect Indesign and Dreamweaver (CS4)
Yes tried changing that... tried disabling hardware acceleration... no luck. Happens in all the CS4 apps i'm using... PS, Illustrator, etc. Not in Bridge though... that seems to use the earlier interface / menu bar as CS3...

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Questions/Issues

I just uploaded CS4, and I noticed some strange things within Dreamweaver (DW). I'm hoping that someone can help me to figure out how to solve them:
    1) When I minimize DW, the cursor acts strange when trying to use DW( i.e. scrolling, clicking on files, etc.) or resize its window. I have to maximize DW in order to use it properly. Does anyone know why this is happening?
    2) I see an easy way to minimize the left-column's files/assets/snippets window, but I don't see the same feature for the bottom-column's property and search windows. Is there a way to create one within preferences, because I cannot find one?
    3) I cannot get the left-column's files/assets/snippets window to minimize completely, as it did with DW MX 2004. Is there a way to do this within preferences, because I cannot find one?
    4) The find and replace feature doesn't work when I first find a piece of code throughout the site, and then select which pages I want it to replace. I have th manually open up each page and run the find/replace job, or do a "replace all" job. But the basic "replace" job isn't working. Does anyone know why this is happening?
That's all that I've found so far. These little things make it difficult to work with DW CS4, which is sad. I'm really hoping that most if not all of them can be fixed. Thanks for any help.

    Thanks for the reply PZ.
Q: 1) When I minimize DW, the cursor acts strange when trying to use DW( i.e. scrolling, clicking on files, etc.) or resize its window. I have to maximize DW in order to use it properly. Does anyone know why this is happening?
A: 1. Sorry, cannot help with this one.
Comment: That's too bad. There's definitely a bug with this one.
Q: 2) I see an easy way to minimize the left-column's files/assets/snippets window, but I don't see the same feature for the bottom-column's property and search windows. Is there a way to create one within preferences, because I cannot find one?
A: 2. On the bottom ones just click on any part of the title bar.
    Comment: That worked great! Thanks.
Q: 3) I cannot get the left-column's files/assets/snippets window to minimize completely, as it did with DW MX 2004. Is there a way to do this within preferences, because I cannot find one?
A: 3. If you look at the very top of all the panels / groups, you will see a small double arrow, click on this.
Comment: Yeah, I see that, but the minimized box still takes up a lot of space on the left. My DW MX 2004 used to minimize completely to the left. Is that not possible with this version?
Q: 4) The find and replace feature doesn't work when I first find a piece of code throughout the site, and then select which pages I want it to replace. I have th manually open up each page and run the find/replace job, or do a "replace all" job. But the basic "replace" job isn't working. Does anyone know why this is happening?
A: 4. With the find replace dialog box, you have to select the folder/file options.
Comment: I just tried that, but it didn't work. The little green dots don't appear next to the one's selected, and the replace never happens, and an error never gets displayed. No matter which option I select in the "Find In" drop down box, it doesn't replace my selected ones. Like I said, if I choose "Replace All", it works fine. But if I choose to "Find", and then do a "Replace" on only certain files, it doesn't work. If anyone has any clue as to why this feature doesn't work, I'd really appreciate it, because I use this specific feature on a daily basis.
    Thanks.

  • DREAMWEAVER CS4 - FTP issues

I loaded Snow Leopard onto a new imac last week.
Since loading SL I have not been about to access remote ftp's using Dreamweaver which I have used for years I now get 'permission errors', 'password incorrect' etc.
I also have an older mac here running Tiger and CS3 - no issue accessing ftp's.
The problem I think is Snow leopard interfering with Dreamweaver.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than removing SL and reinstalling Panther.

    Hi midnight in oz;
I think there is something wrong with the data you have provided for us.
It is impossible to install Snow Leopard on a G5 iMac as listed in your profile.
Also if your iMac is new one, you will not be able install Panther on it.
Could you please provide us with the correct information so that we might be able to help you?

  • CS4 – display issues...

Ok... have a done a search... updated video drivers, etc. etc.
    Here's the problem:
1/ Artifacts across the menus. Others have complained about this. It's like a line drawn across the menu titles.
2/ Time lags and visual glitches when zooming in and out of the active window. (Bridge detail remains, layers flash, etc.)
3/ PS CS4 crashed on me while i was working on a file... selections, etc... not too much of a size and ran the Gaussian filter on a small selection... that's when it crashed... hadn't backed up as i never had a problem with CS3. Lost about two hours of work... but will accept as mea culpa except this is the first time it's happened to me in all PS versions.
    System:
    Motherboard: Intel

    Monitors: Dual Samsung 2243nwx (22inch 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hertz)
Scratch: Two @ 18GB each on the first partition of separate HDDs (SATA)

    XP updated to SP3?
Also, I know Directx has nothing to do with opengl but update Directx anyways to see if the Artifacts go away.
Check the video card itself for dust bunnies that may be causing it to overheat. Do you have a lot of cooling fans?
Ensure the videocard cooling fan is free to spin and no wires are rubbing it slowing it down and free of built up dust causing it to overheat.
Not sure if you used this product but it is free and removes all the Nvidia drivers to give you a clean slate. Sometimes fragments or left over drivers crapola remains after de-installs/reinstall process.

  • Footer displayed inaccurately in Dreamweaver CS4 php page

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver CS4. Our organization site uses mostly php pages. When I attempt to open these pages in Dreamweaver CS4 the footer menu bar displays innacurately down through the center of the page and won't allow any edits as it acts like a top layer or something. Usually it acts as a menu bar on the top of any page on our website.
As it should appear from an online screen shot: You'll notice the orange menu bar across the top.
A shot of the Design View in Dreamweaver CS4:  You'll see the menu options are running down the center of the page as text.

The live view or preview functions do not work and lead to the error: "Not Found, the requested URL/html/index.php was not found on this server.'   This is another issue that I don't understand.
Unfortunately, I did not develop this website and have a minimal knowledge of html and Dreamweaver.  I'm not sure if I can answer the question about which menu system we're using - would seeing the code of the footer help?   I'll paste below in case.
And just to be clear, the problem only occurs in editing in Dreamweaver, but when uploaded to our server it appears correctly.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Design View Issue Dreamweaver CS4 - Taking forever to load design view

I am having an issue where my site takes literally almost a full day to load in design view. Once it is loaded everything works seemlessly but once I close down Dreamweaver and reopen it, I have to wait another day to get to design view of my site. All files open just fine in code view.
I have deleted the Dreamweaver CS4 cache folder, completely formatted my drive and reinstalled creative suite. I have also validated my code on W3c and everything checks out fine.
The majority of my site is based off of a template, but even when I remove all the template references in the html files from Notepad I am still having the same issue. My site renders fine and quickly however on Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
When loading any other site off the web into Dreamweaver I do not run into the problem so there must be something wrong with how my site is set up. Either the Template file is no good or somewhere else I am falling short. Can someone, please, please, please ( I am begging) help me figure out what is going on here.
My index file is located at - http://www.thebluedot.net/index.html and the template file is located at - http://www.thebluedot.net/Templates/index.dwt
I have searched high and low and even made a post on this same topic about a month ago but never came up with a resolution to my issue. I had given up on finding a solution to this problem for some time, but I really need to figure out where I am going wrong here!
    Additional Details -
I am running - Windows Vista Ultimate on a Core 2 Processor with 12 GB of Ram & Solid State Hard Drive. Everything on my system runs super smoothly except loading my site in Dreamweaver CS4 design view.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.

I have used CS2 Adobe GoLive to create and manage a website (pro-prosperity.com).  Now, I have CS4 Dreamweaver.  I got a new site set up on Dreamweaver using the site management facility.  I then have the contents of website available locally on Dreamweaver.  I can edit files.  But the main home page, index.html, is not displaying on design view mode for editing, although it displays everything on live view mode.  I have struggled for days and am not getting any difference in attributes of index.html and another .html that is displaying fine on design view and is editable.
I am really lost and am begging for any help.  Can you, for example, copy the home page from pro-prosperity.com and display on design view and edit it?  Please tell me what is in this file that is troublesome.  Thanks.
The first thing you should do is to make sure that this feature is turned on (it's off by default):
View > Code View Options > Highlight Invalid Html
It's not perfect, but it will notify you of some problems. In Code View, there are many problems highlighted. Some of them don't make sense, but are triggered because of a problem with a parent tag.
Be sure to make a backup copy of your file before doing the next step. Close your page. Go to Preferences > Code Rewriting, and turn on "Fix invalidly nested and unclosed tags", "Remove extra closing tags", and "Warn when fixing or removing tags". Click OK, then re-open your page. The messages in the dialog to tell you what was changed. This allowed me to see your page in Design View (I am using CS5).
Note: I suggested that you reset your preferences to turn off those 3 settings as they can cause problems with some markup.
In the long term, I suggest that you avoid nesting tables wherever possible.
    Hope this helps,
    Randy

  • Screen display issue with InDesign CS4 (Windows)

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4. I can open and use InDesign with no problems, until I try to switch to another application. Then, when I try to go back to InDesign, all I can see is the portion of the bar at the top of the screen that shows the link to Bridge, the view options and a bit of the outline of a palette or two. I have a two monitor setup. Most of the palettes are on the auxillary monitor and they show up just fine. The main display is where I'm having the issue. I can toggle in and out of Photoshop with no display issues. I haven't tried working with anything else from the CS4 package besides InD and Photoshop. This was not an issue with any CS2 product (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash). Nor has it been an issue with any of the other software I am running (so far).
When the display vanishes, I can see the "data" from the program I was trying to toggle out of. For example, if I try to toggle between this page and InD right now, I can see most of this page except for the part of the page obscured by the outline of the control palette (that one reminiscent of pagemaker) and the little bits at the top. I can't see the project I'm working on. I can't see the File/Edit/etc. bar at the top of the page. A Control/Shift/Save will lock up the program completely. Then, I see the "save as" menu box (in addition to the browser screen around it) but the program is locked up. I can close everything on the computer and reboot and open InDesign to resume work--that is until I need to do something like edit a photo to drop into a layout. Then the issue occurs all over again.
Windows machine; XP Pro, service pack 3 build 2600; NVidea GeForce 9600 GT graphics card.

Bob, thanks for the info about the 6.0.2 patch. I'll try grabbing that today. This morning, on the first boot, I can't even see the program when I open it--just the snip of the command palette and part of the very top bar. Very irritating.
Peter, I have tried maximizing, closing, reopening, etc. everything else I can think of. Same issue. I finally just bit the bullet and went back to CS2, rebuilding the current project so I can get the work done by deadline. I'll look for new video drivers this afternoon after I get back on track timewise on this newsletter. Weird that this display issue should just affect the one Adobe program though, and not the others if it is a video driver problem. I didn't do a lot of work in Dreamweaver--just enough to see if it displayed the same weird behaviour. Nope. Nor does Photoshop. Nor does Bridge. Nor does Acrobat. nor does any other software on the machine.

  • Dreamweaver CS4- I can't get my site to display the proper image.

I have a Dreamweaver CS4 Template with an editable area for a header image. I have already assigned a new image to all the header regions but when I moved the site to the web host the pages will only display the Default header image from the template in the editable region, even though when I check the file name in the Modify Templates window it displays the proper name, but displays the wrong image.
What is wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

Did you upload the new header image?
This one is currently being displayed.
