Dreamweaver deletes code in head!

Hi there!
This is my first question to the group and I hope it's not
too silly for
the experts...
My problem is that Dreamweaver (it happens with MX 2004 but
also with
Dreamweaver 8) deletes code from the head.
I have defined an editable region, using templates.
The code looks like that:
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->
<style type="text/css" media="screen">
a#i-eras, a:link#i-eras, a:visited#i-eras {color: #fff;}
a#i-eras, a:link#i-eras, a:visited#i-eras {background:
#C9DBD8;}
a#i-camp, a:link#i-camp, a:visited#i-camp {background:
#C9DBD8;}
</style>
<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
As soon as I format some text in the body (like applying
<i>-tags etc.)
Dreamweaver deletes without warning my code and just leaves
that:
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" --><!--
InstanceEndEditable -->
Why? How can that happen?
I tried to detach the page from the template but the problem
is the same.
I would be very thankful of every hint!!!
Thanks!

also when I
> detached a page from the template, the problem remained!
Then this surely means that the template markup has nothing
to do with it,
and it does.
The problem is that your CSS syntax is incorrect. This -
a#i-ov, a:link#i-ov, a:visited#i-ov {color: #fff;}
a#i-ov, a:link#i-ov, a:visited#i-ov {background: #C9DBD8;}
should be this -
a#i-ov, a#i-ov:link, a#i-ov :visited{color: #fff;background:
#C9DBD8;}
(it's the <a> tag that has the ID, not the
pseudo-state.)
Even so, DW should not DELETE it!
Anyhow, you might want to take care of other problems with
this page too,
particularly the one about an ID being used twice.

  • Dreamweaver CC automatically deletes code in code view and elements in design view

    When I open a file in Dreamweaver, it automatically shows a * next to the filename - showing it has been edited.
    Then often when I select some code in code view, or an element in design view (such as a table, an image, some text) it is suddenly deleted.
    The problem is especially bad (happens without fail) if I am switching between programs. But also happens when I'm not switching.
    I do not have this problem on a different user account.
    I have reinstalled Dreamweaver three times now. Also renamed preference and configuration folders. Tried with a wired mouse and keyboard. Nothing has worked.
    I can't think what I did to cause this. I installed MAMP recently - but have uninstalled it correctly I think.
    I had an issue with one file in which there were about 30 Spry collapsible panels. I kept getting this warning:
    "A script in file Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CC:Configuration:Shared:Spry:DesignTime:EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time. Do you want to continue?"
    I have to click 'yes' many times to get into the file, and the warning keeps coming up while the file is open.
    However, my big issue of DW CC deleting code and elements happens whether or not this particular file is open.
    So this may have nothing to do with it.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Adobe's customer service has not helped. In fact, I have not even been able to get through to anyone on the phone - having waited literally hours listening to music, and getting shunted from person to person. And then their promised 'call backs' never happen.
    Thanks,
    - Greg

    I do not have this problem on a different user account.
    You've got a bad/corrupted user account.  Create a new one with Admin level priveleges and delete your old user.

    I'm cleaning up an old website with much extraneous code in HEAD section.
    There are no rollovers or frames on the site. Can I lose this?
    The messy pages are on www.fearlessselling.net
    Many thanks for your kindness.

    I checked your entire site, I think.  The only place it is used, or found, fo rthat matter, is on the home page where you DO use it for the mouseover function on the
    "Listen to our BlogTalk Radio Program"
    link.
    So, if you want that mouseover to work, you need to leave all the head functions in place.

  • How to manually delete Po at header level ?

    Hi,
    I can delete PO line items in my ECC60 system
    However, i would like to delete PO at header level.
    In EKKO , i can see the deletion flag in LOEKZ field.
    BUT in ME22N, i cannot find any button to delete PO at header level...
    Could somebody clarify the PO deletion at header level and the LOEKZ deletion flag in EKKO ?
    Kind regards,
    Yann

    Yann,
    To my knowledge you cannot directly delete PO from the system. You need to follow the archiving steps...
    1. Program: RM06EV47 - For setting Deletion Indicator
    2.  Program: RM06EW47 - For archiving the document.
    3. Program: RM06ED47 - For Deletion from the system.
    If you need further details you can go through this link <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/8d/3e4b63462a11d189000000e8323d3a/frameset.htm">Archiving Purchase documents</a>

  • What is the difference if jsp code in head section or outside of HTML

    I am confused about what is the difference if I include jsp code inside <html><head> jsp code </head><html>, or outside of HTML tag?
    What is the difference if I put the jsp code inside head senction or in the body section?
    Thank you in advance!

    I may want to output some result from my java code to the screen, so I can see some of the variable values.
    If I use java code to get some variables before <HTML> tag, can I use <%=variable%> in the other sections like body or head to receive the results?

  • How to delete code from Subject Prof which has been used in transaction

    Dear Experts,
    I want to delete code that has already been used in transaction. I know in can flag code group to cannot be used any more and can create new code group. But I cannot change code group and want to delete code from code group. Please help.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Pankaj
    Can you re-assign assign another code to the transactions.
    The system is not going to respond well if you just delete them.

  • Deleting codes from code groups/catalogs

    Hi experts,
    Is it possible to delete a code that is associated to a code group/catalog ?
    Obs: I have already used this specific code. So, the field "U" (Data record is being used) is already flagged.
    From all activities, I've checked if none of these activities are with the code.
    But, I'm still unable to delete the code of code group.
    Thanks in advance

    For the code / code groups which are being used, you can't delete, but there's some workarounds :
    If you can stop the creation of transactions for 2 mins. use METHOD 1, if not use the METHOD 2 for each code and code groups (which is harder, and longer).
    METHOD 1
    First method is to enter X to the field HIST in table TQ15 for the catalog in which the codes/code groups are. (it makes the catalog "inactive")
    ATTENTION : You must rechange it when you have finished deleting codes / code groups !!!
    METHOD 2
    Edit the field VERWENDUNG of the table below (you must remove the value 'X' with DEBUG directly from the table):
    table for code : QPCD
    table for code groups : QPGR
    hope this helps..

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Deleting Code When Copying a File

    When I try to copy or duplicate a file in Dreamweaver CS5.5 for Mac, Dreamweaver removes the last five or six lines of code. I have to create a lot of nearly-identical webpages with the same footer information on each page, and it's really tiresome having to go back into each page and re-create the code Dreamweaver has deleted. I've updated both the Dreamweaver and OS software, but it hasn't corrected the problem. It doesn't matter whether I use the "copy", "paste", "duplicate" Dreamweaver functions, or if I simply use Command+C, Command+V. I can't seem to find anyone online having a similar problem. Do any of you know of a fix?
    Here's an example:
    The code at the end of the original page:
      <p><a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="http://osu.okstate.edu">OSU Homepage</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="http://admissions.okstate.edu">Admissions Homepage</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="mailto:[email protected]">Contact Us</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="http://admissions.okstate.edu/getmail" target="_blank">Get Mail</a></p></center></html>
    What ends up on the copied page:
    <p><a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="http://osu.okstate.edu">OSU Homepage</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="http://admissions.okstate.edu">Admissions Homepage</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10px" href="mailto:[email protected]">Contact Us</a> <font style="font-size: 10px">|</font> <a style="color: #FF6600; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10

    On the remote server side, I can right-click, say, index.html and copy or duplicate it. It's in that process that the code is being chopped off.
    I never work that way and wouldn't want to for a variety of reasons.
    Best to open index.html in your Local Site.
    Hit File > SaveAs "some-new-filename.html"
    Try doing that a few times and report back with your results.

  • Dreamweaver FluidGrid code gets destroyed by BC editor.

    I'm trying to move a website over to HTML5, so I created a new template in Dreamweaver New > Fluid Grid Layout
    The resulting html5 code is below, however when I paste it into a blank template in BC, the conditional statements (lines 2-7):
    <!--[if lt IE 7]> <html class="ie6 oldie"> <![endif]-->
    <!--[if IE 7]>    <html class="ie7 oldie"> <![endif]-->

    <!--[if gt IE 8]><!-->
    <html class="">
    <!--<![endif]-->
    get deleted by the editor. I know I could directly upload the template from Dreamweaver but if the BC editor is going to mess with it or any other HTML5 code then it's going to be a real headache. Any suggestions? Does BC not handle HTML5 or conditional statements?

    None, You should not be having those when you go into editors.
    Your not coding your site through the admin WYSIYG are you?
    IF you are a partner at the top there is the "Developer" tab but if your not then you just get your prefered coding application, code your site and FTP your templates and layouts.
    If your in a blog post and you got html head and body etc in there your not implenting your BC site correctly. You should have that in your template and apply the template to the blog itself and modify your layouts to get the layouts you want.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Code Formatting broken

    Hello, I am experiencing a huge deal of frustration with the
    way Dreamweaver improperly formats code. In particular, the UL / LI
    tags do not format correctly. Here is what I am trying to achieve:
    <ul>
    <li>
    TEXT
    </li>
    </ul>
    Now this pattern seems to correspond exactly to the preview
    that you see when you go to Preferences > Code Format > Tag
    Libraries, select the LI tag and choose Line Breaks: Before,
    Inside, After and Contents: Formatted and Indented.
    I have done this. I have also manually checked the .vtm file
    in username > Application Data > Adobe > Dreamweaver >
    Configuration etc.... and it corresponds to what I have set in the
    Prefs.
    However, when I use Design View to create the unordered list,
    OR even if I just TOUCH a properly formatted list in Design View,
    everything gets squeezed onto one line. I get this sort of thing:
    <ul> <li>TEST</li> <li>MORE
    TEST</li> </ul>
    Here is what I have tried unsuccessfully to date:
    1. Prefs > Code Formatting > Edit Tag Libraries...
    2. Prefs > Code Format > UNCHECK Do not include a break
    inside TD tag (I know, that's for TD, but I'm just trying
    everything(
    3. Prefs -> line breaks (tried Unix, Windows)
    4. Commands > Apply Source Formatting (messes up my entire
    code by putting everything inside the BODY tag on one line - in
    other words, my entire page goes on one line now!)
    5. Automatic Wrapping After Column 76 - this one is really
    stupid, it just does a HARD break on each line so when you turn it
    back off you have to go in and manually delete all these hard
    breaks now...
    There's a bunch of other small things I have tried, but
    needless to say, nothing appears to be working.
    Has no one else experienced this? Can you get Design View to
    properly format UL / LI tags? If so, then something on my computer
    is messed. But when I look at code generated by DW on some of my
    co-workers' computers, they also have the same problem - I just
    guess their tolerance for crappy code is higher than mine.
    I'm using DW 9.0 (CS3) build 3481.
    Please help! I have no hair left on my head to tear out and I
    may have to go further afield.... ouch!
    Thanks,
    Tom

    I just checked on DW CS4 and it's working as expected. If I
    change my LI
    entry in the Tag Libraries to Line Breaks: Before, Inside,
    After and
    Contents like you, I get your desired effect. Moreover, it
    doesn't revert -
    or worse if any changes are made, whether in Design or Code
    view. I know
    this doesn't help you verify or correct your CS3 issue, but
    at least you
    know there is an upgradeable light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Dreamweaver Error- code problem

    Hello, I built a website for a salon and now I am working on SEO. I also added google analytics and now I am getting an error code in dreamweaver when I save the template. When I save the template it updates the pages but afterwords it gives me this error, “There is an error at line 11, column 29 (absolute position 1268) of “C:\Users\Meegan\Documents\Center Stage\ htmlindext.html” Unbalanced InstanceEndEditable tag.” I am not sure what it is telling me here. Here is the link to the site www.centerstagesalon.net. Underneith the title in the code, I put the keywords and description (fallowing a tutorials instructions).
    This is what that code looks like:
    Just before the end head tag, I put the code for google analytics.
    Here is that code.
    I assume that the issue has more to do with the keywords and description that I put in the code because line 11 is just bellow that, but I wanted to provide you with as much information as I could so hopefully someone can help me get this resolved. I added keywords, a description and the google analytics code to each page. Bellow is the code for the index page as an example.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • DreamWeaver HTML code is good for WordPress?

    Hello everyone! It's the first time I write in this Forum, but I've got a problem and I hope someone of you could help me...
    I've found some problems when I pasted my Dreamweaver generated HTML code in a WordPress page.
    I usually write in my WP Blog with no problem, but today I wanted to create some special <div>, so first of all I generated the page in DreamWeaver. Then I copied and pasted the code into the WP CMS (HTML view, of course). But the text was not formatted like in DW... I tried to modify the code in the WP CMS, but I couldn't do what expected.
    Anyone can help me?

    Thank you for your answers, martcol and bemdesign.
    I'll try to better explain my problems. First of all, sorry for my bad english: I hope you will understand anyway. Unfortunately I cancelled my previous HTML code. Here's what is on-line at the moment:
    <div class="postText">
                            <p><strong>Oggetto dell&#8217;analisi dimostrativa</strong><br />
    Tutto il materiale prodotto nel web in Francia e in lingua francese, nel  periodo 10 settembre-10 ottobre 2010. In particolare, sono stati  analizzati blog e forum, siti di news on-line, contenitori di foto e  video, social network come Facebook, Twitter e FriendFeed, Google e i  principali motori di ricerca.<strong> </strong></p>
    <p><strong>Obiettivi</strong><br />
    - Misurare il volume di discussioni nel web sul Salone dell&#8217;Automobile di Parigi 2010<br />
    - Individuare le case automobilistiche maggiormente citate<br />
    - Individuare i più citati, tra i nuovi modelli e concept presentati al Salone</p>
    <p><strong>Strumento utilizzato</strong><br />
    <a href="http://www.intesys.it/Buzz-Analysis/">WebMetrika</a>, il   il servizio di <strong>Blog &amp; Buzz Analysis</strong> di Intesys, che   offre alle aziende informazioni per valutare la  propria Web Brand Reputation, l&#8217;efficacia delle iniziative di marketing  attuate, l&#8217;opinione dei consumatori su prodotti e servizi.</p>
    <hr width="100%" color="#666666"></p>
    <p>Si sta svolgendo in questi giorni a Parigi il <strong>Mondial de l&#8217;Automobile </strong>2010: il più importante salone dell&#8217;automobile francese, che si svolge al Paris Expo Porte Versailles. Appuntamento blasonato a cadenza biennale, vanta più di un secolo di storia: la prima edizione risale al 1898.</p>
    et cetera et cetera
    I wanted to insert the first part of the page in a <div>: from "Oggetto dell&#8217;analisi dimostrativa..." to "...opinione dei consumatori su prodotti e servizi". In my head this <div> had to seem like a grey box with a red border: easy to make with DW! I did so, but when I copied it into WP, the text didn't appear as I've formatted it... What have changed? The <br> and the font dimension too...
    I couldnt think that creating a simple box would be so tough!

  • Dreamweaver as code generator for use in other applications?

    Hello and thank you in advance for your time and your help!
    I realize and apologize for this lengthy post but I had to explain my issue thoroughly...
    I've just begun teaching myself to use Dreamweaver CS3 (on an iMac running OS X 10.5.8 - Leopard) with the  "Dreamweaver CS3 Missing Manual". I don't know HTML or CSS but am very  willing to learn as much as I can. In the near future, I hope to create a  new website for my domain in Dreamweaver. However, I have an urgent and  immediate need and would like to know whether Dreamweaver can serve a specific purpose...
    My question is whether I will still be able to accomplish the following (even if it is by different means) once I convert to Dreamweaver from FrontPage AND whether or not I should abolish all of the current files at my web server and remove FrontPage extensions before I invest any time into making Dreamweaver my new tool for website development and maintenance.
    I have a domain hosted by GoDaddy and a rather old website that I created using FrontPage 2002 (on a Windows XP desktop). For over 5 years now, I've used FrontPage so that I can work WYSIWYG to generate HTML code that I use in my eBay auction listings. Recently, however, the "network folder" for my web server (on the Windows XP desktop) stopped accepting my password and I cannot find a fix for it. It's my opportunity to finally break from FrontPage but I'm hoping that, before I do, someone can tell me whether or not Dreamweaver can serve my interim and long-term purposes.
    I've been uploading image files using the "network folder" in Windows XP that I set up with FrontPage over 5 years ago. I "drag and drop" or "cut and paste" image files from my computer to my web server in Windows Explorer via the "network folder". Once the images are on the web server, I open FrontPage and ensure that the images show up in my web server files. I then open an existing .html document that I have saved on my hard drive, replace text and images within the file, save the file under a different file name, and then switch to code view where I copy the code directly from FrontPage into my eBay listing. This works perfectly well and has for over 5 years. I do not publish these .html files to the web, nor do I upload the .html files to my web server. They exist only on my hard drive and simply to provide the underlying HTML code for the eBay listings and nothing more. This method allows the images in my eBay auctions to be automatically sourced to their location on my web server without requiring me to do anything more than insert the image(s) from my web server into the .html document/file.
    I think I'm discovering that Dreamweaver works specifically with websites and I'm wondering whether I can use it more generically in this way. If I'm learning correctly, Dreamweaver is quite particular about web server files having an exact match to a root folder on my hard drive. I've defined my site within Dreamweaver and I've since downloaded all existing files from my web server to my hard drive within a folder that is designated as the root folder. However, when I now open an existing .html document (one originally created in FrontPage and stored on my hard drive only) and replace an image (by cutting the existing image and dragging the other from the "remote view" of the "files" pane) with one that exists both on my web server and in my root folder, Dreamweaver makes the source/reference path point to the image file on my hard drive and, as you know, that won't do if I transfer that code to my eBay listing. So I've uploaded the actual .html file to the web server within Dreamweaver (something that I never had to do with FrontPage) and now I can change the HTML code manually (or the source in the "properties" panel for the image) for the image source to include "http://mydomain/..." (it doesn't include that automatically as FrontPage did). That now seems to make the code work but I have to store my .html files on the server and I have to make that manual change.
    My question is whether I will still be able to do accomplish  the following (even if it is by different means) once I convert to  Dreamweaver from FrontPage AND whether or not I should abolish all of  the current files at my web server and remove FrontPage extensions  before I invest any time into making Dreamweaver my new tool for website  development and maintenance.
    Thank you very sincerely for taking the time to read this and for your response and good advice!

    Get Turbo Lister (a free page editing and listing tool from eBay).
    http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
    eBay uses some seriously flawed markup on their auction pages.  In fact, they don't even ALLOW you to use good code. You're better off using their proprietary tools for this.   IMO, DW is not the right tool for creating eBay pages.
    When you're ready to build a serious web site, come back to Dreamweaver.

  • IWeb site remade in Dreamweaver - cleaner code, faster loading?

    I love iWeb. But iWeb sites load slow ... and there is a LOT of messy code in there (my web experts and html whiz friends tell me this). I've tried optimizers, but found they often create odd and unpredictable glitches on individual pages. And only speed up the load process by 10%.
    I'm experimenting with designing the site in iWeb, then transferring all the materials\text\graphics into Dreamweaver ... to see if this gives me a faster loading site. I wonder if I'm wasting my time?
    And I'd love to know a way to have the iWeb sites load faster ...
    Ben

    I don't think you can pin it down to a percentage for each page. If you watch WSM as it optimizes your files you will see the saving for each file in the window - if you are quick!
    I publish my websites to Mobile Me to test them and then optimize and upload them to a commercial server. The difference in download time is noticeable.
    Where WSM really scores is when trying to get your website to load in IE - the World's Worst Browser.
    Pages that hang and lock up IE will usually load after optimizing.
    I have had the band of missing background occasionally. Usually I would just run the files again and mistakes are corrected - sometimes it takes two or three passes.
    After running the files again I launch the offending page in my browser directly from the WSM output folder (by double clicking the .html file) so that I can check it before uploading again.
