DreamWeaver HTML code is good for WordPress?

Hello everyone! It's the first time I write in this Forum, but I've got a problem and I hope someone of you could help me...
I've found some problems when I pasted my Dreamweaver generated HTML code in a WordPress page.
I usually write in my WP Blog with no problem, but today I wanted to create some special <div>, so first of all I generated the page in DreamWeaver. Then I copied and pasted the code into the WP CMS (HTML view, of course). But the text was not formatted like in DW... I tried to modify the code in the WP CMS, but I couldn't do what expected.
Anyone can help me?

Thank you for your answers, martcol and bemdesign.
I'll try to better explain my problems. First of all, sorry for my bad english: I hope you will understand anyway. Unfortunately I cancelled my previous HTML code. Here's what is on-line at the moment:
<div class="postText">
                        <p><strong>Oggetto dell&#8217;analisi dimostrativa</strong><br />

Appuntamento blasonato a cadenza biennale, vanta più di un secolo di storia: la prima edizione risale al 1898.</p>
et cetera et cetera
I wanted to insert the first part of the page in a <div>: from "Oggetto dell&#8217;analisi dimostrativa..." to "...opinione dei consumatori su prodotti e servizi". In my head this <div> had to seem like a grey box with a red border: easy to make with DW! I did so, but when I copied it into WP, the text didn't appear as I've formatted it... What have changed? The <br> and the font dimension too...
I couldnt think that creating a simple box would be so tough!

  • Display HTML code in WebDynpro for ABAP

    Hi, I would like to display a html page in a WebDynpro View, ie: I have the html code in a "string" variable and would now display this string now not with the html tags visible, but as a "real" html page.
    I found a thread in WebDynpro for ABAP but I am a little bit lost in converting the logic to ABAP world.
    Thanks

    >I found a thread in WebDynpro for ABAP but I am a little bit lost in converting the logic to ABAP world.
    I'm a little bit confused by this statement. Do you mean you found a thread in Web Dynpro Java, perhaps?
    Regardless the approach is possible using the iFrame UI.  The warning about the iFrame is that it is deprecated in NetWeaver 7.0 and 7.01 and my not be usable depending upon your support package level. However in NetWeaver 7.02 the iFrame returns to fully supported status.
    If you have the HTML content in a string, you can simply place it into the ICM cache.  This will provide a temporary URL for the content (you supply the lifetime of the URL) that can be referenced via the iFrame URL or even the LinkToURL if you want to open in a new window.
    Here is the code for placing the string into the ICM Cache:
    ****Create the cached response object that we will insert our content into
      data: cached_response type ref to if_http_response.
      create object cached_response
        type
          cl_http_response
        exporting
          add_c_msg        = 1.
      try. " ignore, if compression can not be switched on
          call method cached_response->set_compression
            exporting
              options = cached_response->co_compress_based_on_mime_type
            exceptions
              others  = 1.
        catch cx_root.
      endtry.
    ****set the data and the headers
      data: l_app_type type string.
          cached_response->set_cdata( lv_html_text ).
          l_app_type = 'text/html'.
    cached_response->set_header_field( name  = if_http_header_fields=>content_type
                                         value = l_app_type ).
      cached_response->set_status( code = 200 reason = 'OK' ).
      cached_response->server_cache_expire_rel( expires_rel = 60 ).
      data: guid type guid_32.
      call function 'GUID_CREATE'
        importing
          ev_guid_32 = guid.
      concatenate '/sap/public' '/' guid '.' 'html' into lv_iframe_url.
    ****Cache the URL
      cl_http_server=>server_cache_upload( url      = lv_iframe_url
                                           response = cached_response ).
      wd_context->get_element( )->set_attribute(
        name =  `IFRAME_URL`
        value = lv_iframe_url ).

  • Trying to acess html code in slideshow

    I am trying to access the html code that makes up a slideshow/splash on a site. I need to change the names of some image files in the html code.
    it's a wordpress site. I have looked thought the file directories and everywhere else but can't find the file with the code. I can see it using view source from a browser. just can't find it anywhere to make the edits.
    I don't know wordpress very well or php. I have a limited understanding that php actually generats the html code when a page is loaded? If so do I need to edit a php file ? Any help or advice much appreciated. I know this is not a wordpress forum but I asked about this on the wordpress forum and got no response.
    I downloaded and installed the trial Themedreamer but that doesn't seem to giet me to the html that I need to access.
    Here's the site
    http://www.helitrax.com/

    How do I access that html?
    You don't.  WordPress is Dynamically driven.  There really isn't much in the way of HTML to edit.  Content is created on the server with code calls to content in databases,  folders and include files.
    There is no plug in there that controls this slideshow.
    Yes there is. It's possible this is attached to the Theme or a Widget.  In any case, it uses the jQuery Cycle Lite script and this is the PHP code that inserts it into the first page.
    <div id="splash" class="container_12">
        <?php if (is_front_page()): ?>
          <?php for ($i = 1; $i <= 5; $i++): ?>
              <img src="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory') ?>/css/img/splash/h<?php echo $i ?>.jpg" alt="" />
            <?php endfor ?>
    From the WPress Dashboard, click on Pages.
    Edit the opening site page (probably called Home but maybe not). Can you see an indicator for the slideshow?  How about in HTML view?  What do you see there?

  • Wordpress html code in dreamweaver

    Does anyone know if I can use my wordpressblog (html) Bruidsfotografie www.totaalfotografie.nl in Dreamweaver, so I can change it easy-er?

    In addition to the other good replies, there are options available to
    copy my html code en use it in Dreamweaver
    .... to some extent anyway, yes you can use DW to edit and review the HTML that will eventually be used in WordPress. After all, HTML is HTML, whether it's used in WP or a static site.
    So for example, if you are creating a new post and want to preview it a few times as you are putting it together, you can do all that prelim work in DW.  You can even copy your WP theme style.css, save that on your local hard drive and link to that in the <head> just like you would any other .css sheet. Then you can review the HTML plus "styles" as you are creating the new post, even without having a local server.
    But keep in mind that you are just doing a prelim "post" creation of the HTML that will be displayed on the page. Once that is done and you are satisfied with the look, then copy all the HTML between the <body> and </body> and paste that into WP as a new "post" using the HTML tab. If you have images or videos that are to be included in the "post" it usually best to add this in WP itself, since the links and paths may be dynamically added,
    I always create all the "posts" for this site in DW
    http://exploreolympics.com/reports/
    I get the layout formatted and edited as I want and then paste the HTML into WP. Personally I think the editing capability of WP is pretty limited, the space is small, sometimes the editing text will flip back up to the top of the post...yada yada yada... so I just don't want to edit HTML in WP when I have a nice big area in DW. This site also has a special "videos" folder for self hosted video. Since I know the exact path to those video files (they are not dynamically created) I can hard code the absolute path in while I'm doing the prelim HTML creation in DW... so the only thing I need to add later are the images.
    So can you use DW to edit/create "HTML content? Yes, as long as you understand that once you finish the creation or edits, you will be copy/pasting that in WP. In addition you can use DW to create and test navigation menus, header banners, and other HTML content that will then eventually be copy/pasted into various .php files.. header.php, sidebar.php etc if you decide to customize your theme. If you are trying to edit HTML it's a heck of a lot easier in DW.
    Best wishes,

  • Fluid grid for Wordpress: insert PHP code into DW or DW code into Wordpress?

    This may be a stupid question but it's a dilemma for me. Here's the problem. I want to create a mobile first, fluid grid Wordpress website in Dreamweaver CS6 based on an existing Wordpress theme. I can see two ways of doing that:
    1) Create a fluid grid layout in DW, then insert the Wordpress PHP code into the right places in DW
    Pro: the fluid grid layout is set up by DW and therefore can be easily edited with DW (I imagine)
    Con: It is beyond my coding skills to make a fully functional WP template
    2) Take an existing responsive Wordpress template with media queries and edit that in Dreamweaver
    Pro: I start with a fully functional WP template and only have to make changes (mostly in CSS) to customise it
    Con: When I start with an existing template (like Skeleton) I run into trouble using DW
    For example: I click a navigation button to get at the CSS but it's not clear to me from DW's interface in which media query I have to make changes. I did a tutorial on creating a fluid grid layout with DW so I can do that. But DW doesn't work the same way with an existing WP template like Skeleton. I searched the web but all I can find is help on creating a fluid layout with DW, not editing an existing one.
    By the way, I am experienced with HTML/CSS but not PHP and I have a local Wordpress server running on my Mac so I can work in Dreamweaver's Live View.
    The problem may be that I am only just starting with responsive web design and need some more experience with media queries, css rules and DW CS6. Could anyone comment on this problem or point me towards more information on the subject?
    TIA!

    You can certainly use DW to customize a 3rd party WP Theme.  However, you must be throughly familliar with how WordPress Themes work and have a good working knowledge of  HTML, CSS and PHP code.  Design View will not be much help to you.
    WP Themes are a sum of their various parts:  header.php, footer,php, sidebar.php, page.php, index.php, archive.php, etc...  The web server parses code from the various parts and creates whole pages on the fly.  Once WP is deployed on your server, you cannot use DW to edit content.  You must use the WP Admin Panel (CMS) to manage content, Themes, plugins and backup data.
    For simple static sites, the FluidGrid Layout feature in DW is a nice starting point.  But these layouts have definite  limitations which, IMO would not be a good fit with WordPress.

  • Dreamweaver as code generator for use in other applications?

    Hello and thank you in advance for your time and your help!
    I realize and apologize for this lengthy post but I had to explain my issue thoroughly...
    I've just begun teaching myself to use Dreamweaver CS3 (on an iMac running OS X 10.5.8 - Leopard) with the  "Dreamweaver CS3 Missing Manual". I don't know HTML or CSS but am very  willing to learn as much as I can. In the near future, I hope to create a  new website for my domain in Dreamweaver. However, I have an urgent and  immediate need and would like to know whether Dreamweaver can serve a specific purpose...
    My question is whether I will still be able to accomplish the following (even if it is by different means) once I convert to Dreamweaver from FrontPage AND whether or not I should abolish all of the current files at my web server and remove FrontPage extensions before I invest any time into making Dreamweaver my new tool for website development and maintenance.
    I have a domain hosted by GoDaddy and a rather old website that I created using FrontPage 2002 (on a Windows XP desktop). For over 5 years now, I've used FrontPage so that I can work WYSIWYG to generate HTML code that I use in my eBay auction listings. Recently, however, the "network folder" for my web server (on the Windows XP desktop) stopped accepting my password and I cannot find a fix for it. It's my opportunity to finally break from FrontPage but I'm hoping that, before I do, someone can tell me whether or not Dreamweaver can serve my interim and long-term purposes.
    I've been uploading image files using the "network folder" in Windows XP that I set up with FrontPage over 5 years ago. I "drag and drop" or "cut and paste" image files from my computer to my web server in Windows Explorer via the "network folder". Once the images are on the web server, I open FrontPage and ensure that the images show up in my web server files. I then open an existing .html document that I have saved on my hard drive, replace text and images within the file, save the file under a different file name, and then switch to code view where I copy the code directly from FrontPage into my eBay listing. This works perfectly well and has for over 5 years. I do not publish these .html files to the web, nor do I upload the .html files to my web server. They exist only on my hard drive and simply to provide the underlying HTML code for the eBay listings and nothing more. This method allows the images in my eBay auctions to be automatically sourced to their location on my web server without requiring me to do anything more than insert the image(s) from my web server into the .html document/file.
    I think I'm discovering that Dreamweaver works specifically with websites and I'm wondering whether I can use it more generically in this way. If I'm learning correctly, Dreamweaver is quite particular about web server files having an exact match to a root folder on my hard drive. I've defined my site within Dreamweaver and I've since downloaded all existing files from my web server to my hard drive within a folder that is designated as the root folder. However, when I now open an existing .html document (one originally created in FrontPage and stored on my hard drive only) and replace an image (by cutting the existing image and dragging the other from the "remote view" of the "files" pane) with one that exists both on my web server and in my root folder, Dreamweaver makes the source/reference path point to the image file on my hard drive and, as you know, that won't do if I transfer that code to my eBay listing. So I've uploaded the actual .html file to the web server within Dreamweaver (something that I never had to do with FrontPage) and now I can change the HTML code manually (or the source in the "properties" panel for the image) for the image source to include "http://mydomain/..." (it doesn't include that automatically as FrontPage did). That now seems to make the code work but I have to store my .html files on the server and I have to make that manual change.
    My question is whether I will still be able to do accomplish  the following (even if it is by different means) once I convert to  Dreamweaver from FrontPage AND whether or not I should abolish all of  the current files at my web server and remove FrontPage extensions  before I invest any time into making Dreamweaver my new tool for website  development and maintenance.
    Thank you very sincerely for taking the time to read this and for your response and good advice!

    Get Turbo Lister (a free page editing and listing tool from eBay).
    http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
    eBay uses some seriously flawed markup on their auction pages.  In fact, they don't even ALLOW you to use good code. You're better off using their proprietary tools for this.   IMO, DW is not the right tool for creating eBay pages.
    When you're ready to build a serious web site, come back to Dreamweaver.
