Drill Down pop up in Discoverer viewer

Hi
We use Discoverer viewer version 9.0.2.53.0
I have made a drill-down crosstab with three drill-down levels. When I drill in the viewer the pop up box (the one that shows what levels you can drill to) comes up with scrollbars (both horizontal and vertical) and only the first and second level show, I have to scroll to see the third level.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get a pop up without scrollbars (like I have in Plus and Desktop)?
Greta Dalseth, Norway

I filed a TAR on metalink for this, here is Oracle's reply, and my reaction to it:
<snip from TAR>
Hi Jens.
I have tested this on both 902 versions and have seen the difference. As this is a change purposely done by Developement in order improve functionality the only way that it can be changed is not through a Tar/bug but by logging a enhancement request. This can be done by you through Metalink.
To log a enhancement request click on the blue button on the left hand side of the screen titled 'News & Events', then clcik on the 'Click here for more ERS information' link - this will allow you to log a enhancement.
I will now suspend this Tar. The status of this TAR is SCL (Suspended by Oracle Support Services). Should you wish to progress/reactivate this TAR please update the TAR via Metalink within the next 14 days. After that period please log a new iTAR stating this TAR number as base TAR if the same problem occurs.
Best regards,
<signature removed>.
New info : "Purposely Done"?
You must be joking.
Could you please explain why they have done this.
I think someone have screwed up here.
Should not be necessary for me file an enh. req. for this.
The popup is hardly usable, as you can't read whats in it. This have to be a
bug.
Please follow this up through the tar.
Jens

Can you believe Oracle Developers want the pop-up like this.... ;-o

  • Drill down error in disc. Viewer

    Hi there,
I'm getting the following error while trying to drill down in Disco. Viewer.
Error applying Drill.Press your browser's Back button to undo the last action or click Run Query to start again.<<
It works fine in Plus and Desktop.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance!

First thing you might want to check is metalink as I seem to recall a problem with drill-down in Viewer (ie: not working correctly) but not sure under what circumstances.
That would be the quickest to see if it's a known bug or your setup.

to which directory have you unzipped the Files? I would suggest C:\temp because there are problems with long filenames. Have you tried to reboot and then disconnect Drive M:?

  • Discoverer drill Down error.

    HI
I have installed Oracle BI 10.1.2. I have applied the patch 59672969 to resolve some bugs related to drilling down. However in discoverer viewer I do the follwing
    1. Expand a workbook and select one of the sub workgroups
    2. Enter the parameters needeed on the next page
    3. Expand one of the columns on the next page and select an option from the list that appears.
    The Following error appears:
An error occurred while handling the Even. See application log for more details.
Empty input (or null input) is not allowed

  • Master detail view with drill down

I am trying to develop a simple app for my Ipad. This app is supposed to have a Master/details look and should behave similar to the native Mail app (2x levels of navigation and the last level updates the details view).
My problem is that I am not familiar to Apple IOS development so tend to get stuck all the time so I prefer to follow a tutorial or start with a sample project. I have searched for hours but I always either get a pure navigation drill down project without the details view or a pure master/details project with only a single level of navigation. I tried to take these projects and modify them but my knowledge sadly is very limited and I did not succeed.
So can anybody direct me to a tutorial or a sample project where a Mail like app is being built with more than 1 level of navigation ?

I have a GridBagLayout panel with a jtable and some jtextfield Well, we don't know exactly what constraints you have set up to its hard to say exactly why its happening.
In general, you should create your JTextField using new JTextField(int) and I think the problem will go away.
An easier solution would also be to use different LayoutManagers to achieve the desired layout.

  • Drill Down Report issues in VS 2010, CR viewer 12

We are using VS 2010, Crystal Reports 12 with Crystal Viewer 12 control called from a C# programmed page frame.  Several Drill Down reports are developed with CR 12 service pack 1 and then deployed onto the server.
These Drill Down reports work great within the viewer.  But Two critical issues have been discovered,
    1.     With the drop down report, the next /last page buttons work on the main page, but it doesnu2019t work on any of the drill drop sections.
    2.     The print / export functions work on the main page.  Using the print / export functions from the Drilled down pages reverts back to the main page, not the drill down page that is being viewed.
Has anyone else seen these issues and know of a fix.  Wondering if it might be something in the viewer settings within the .net or the version of viewer ?
I have viewed the CR .Net API Reference but probably due to lack of .net knowledge, seems overwhelming  to me.
    Thanks

       FileStream fs = new FileStream("C:\\Windows\\Temp\\MyExportedReport.pdf", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite);
// Stream the bytes from the exported report to the newly created file and close the file stream.

       fs.Close();

    Hi Experts,
I am getting product blank when I am doing Header on/off drill down setting. Even when I am choosing Products from Display dependent objects, It drill down the second grid (Quantity View) and product is blank.
Please let me know if anybody faced the same issue before. We are using version SCM 5.1
    Thanks & regards,

    Hi,
In the standard SNP planning area 9ASNP02, the relevant KF in Capacity view is  9ACASUP .
There may be a conflict identified between selection and key figures to be read.
You can choose a different selection condition or change to a different data view, and check if ti comes out correctly.

  • Drill Down count match up issue

I want the total number of records of the table in the table view report to be displayed down, as we drill into the report. (the report is a drill down hierachial)
I used narrative view and did the total number of records. I could get only the count from first row only. But I want the count as sum of all the rows of the count column and displayed as the count.
when I drill down it's always showing the count as the count of the programs from the first row.
    Here is the requirement:
    region # pgms
    Ohio     100000
Total Number of Pgms: 100000 (this is correct)
one we click on Ohio, we get the countied in it with its count, which matches to state count 100000.
    region counties # pgms
    Ohio a 25000
    b     25000
    c 25000
    d 25000
Total Number of pgms: 100000(this is what I want)
    but I get this
    Total Number of pgms: 25000
When I click on A it will take me to zip codes under a with its counts matching to 25000
but I get the count as it sees in the first zip code in the list, which I do not want. I want the count to match up with 25000.
    Can anyone please help?

try sum(pgms by region) as the measure you should reference in your narrative , hide this from the table view. This should always return your grand total for the region (rather than the counties).

  • Error while drilling down the data from reports

    Hi friends,
I have created dimension hierarchies in rpd for drilling down the data.. While i drill down its showing no results at some level when i am clicking on the data.. but when i am clicking on the same levels column header its drilling down properly and i can view the next level for the data item which has shown no results while clicked on it.. Please help me and helps will be appreciated..

    Hi,
    >when i click on 2000 results displaying is no results
but when i click on the header year its showing the results with 3 for 2000.
So you are able to drill when you click on header..Go to column properties and make heading interaction to no interaction under column format, put value interaction to default and try to drill clicking on value.
in RPD i have some derived columns like month .I created month as derived column from date using logical formula and i used this derived columns as the key.. Is it a problem? No I dont think its a problem

  • Discoverer viewer drill up -down error

    hai,
While i am doing drill up and drill down in discoverer viewer..i am getting error like this
DiscoNetworkException - Nested exception: org.omg.CORBA.TRANSIENT: minor code: 0 completed: No
    null
plz tell me what should i do to solve this..
    regards
    chandrakumar

    Hi Chandrak,
Perhaps the reason you don't get many answers is that you often ask the same question several times, sometimes only hours apart (as if there were 10,000 of us sitting here watching the forum all day, poised to answer "chat-style"). The questions are often very simple (in the help or the manual). Most are marked "urgent". (People begin to ignore the driver who blows his horn all the time.)
Anyway, I didn't know how to edit the title of a worksheet either, so I created one, and right-clicked the mouse on the title to see what would happen, and lo and behold, up popped a context menu with the selection "Edit Title". That took about 20 seconds.
Then I looked to the menu bar, pulled down the [Sheet] menu and there was an "Edit Title" selection there also.
Once you are into the "Edit Title" dialog box, there's a [Help] button.

  • URGENT!! Drill Down Error with Character Set non-ascii on Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
We have an error in a Drill down. It comes up when the Discoverer Viewer tries to process data that contains special character (non-ascii) in a query's filter. The same report that does not perform well with special characters, does perform well if the data don’t contains special characters, so it seems to be an issue processing non-ascii chars in this Discoverer Viewer instance.
Ex. FIELD_NAME = 'öÜæäé (This filter is contained in a query that this getting an error msg="We're sorry, the server encountered an unexpected condition" ).
It might be possible that there are some problems with the Discoverer charset ?
We will appreciate any suggestion about this respect.

  • Discoverer Viewer - Drill down option

    Dear all
I created a report in discoverer desktop, with drill down option for financial information. It works fine in Disco Desktop. All the drill down options are working fine as well. But the same report when run in disco viewer, it has got an option for drilling down further, then another option for collapse(with the blue button) - to view the summary value.
When the collapse option is chosen, the blue color button disappears in Viewer and wouldnt know how to drill down back without reloging into the application.
Could you please help me how to solve this problem, as I need to share this report with users who has viewer access only?We are using 9i at the moment.
    Thanks.

    Hi Russ
I have heard folks having awful issues with IE 7. It seems to mess up everything Oracle. Sounds like Oracle and Microsoft have some hurdles to cross. For now I would advise everyone to either stay on IE 6 or use another browswer like Firefox.
To answer the specific question posted here, it is possible that the user has hit one of the well known Discoverer bugs wherein Discoverer Viewer cannot properly execute workbooks created in Desktop. There are fixes and one-off patches available for this in MetaLink but these patches all require a password to download them. I would advise the raising of a service request and in the request spefically ask if there is a one-off patch that will fix this.
    Best wishes for now
    Michael

  • Error: "Numeric value entered was too low " -drill down discoverer report

    Hi ,
We have created a Discoverer drill down report (drill down to another worksheet). We have two worksheets one for the master and and the other for the detail. The parameters are passed to detail sheet (The link information is set using the Manage links option in the Discoverer plus) from the master. This whole thing works fine in dev instance.
We imported the business area . Deleted the existing file and the opened the new .dis file from local computer and then saved it to db.
Now the master report runs fine and when we click on the drill down link for the detail we get the following error
An error occured while handling the event.See the application log for more details.
    - The numerical value entered was too low."
However the link works fine in plus and desktop in the same instance.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Shobana

I hope you're not using Internet Explorer v7.
It has a specific problem with Disco Viewer, is not certified to work with it, and the error is drilling in Viewer.
The Oracle bug (metalink) is: 5608740
This bug prevents the listing of drill items under the drill icon.

  • Drill-down reports Discoverer-style

    Hi,
I'm looking for a way to implement drill-down reports in HTMLDB. All the references I found are showing details in a 2nd page for a certain row in the 1st page (e.g. ordered items for an order ID).
I'm not looking for this, but for drill-down "a la Discoverer", such as this example
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/discoverer/discoverer_1012/viewer/lesson1.htm#t7
One can select there multiple criterias for drill down.
Perhaps the solution would be a combination of tree reports with standard reports
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_tree.html
but I don't see clearly how to do it, especially with a lot of drill-down options.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Marius

I think there are two differen approaches:
    - using the HTML report and doing some "dynamic" SQL at the block level
(That means you have to write the drill down - this is the logic that
is done by the tree - by yourself)
If you ever have done the work to do this in combination with a HTML DB report,
    please post it here.
    - using the a Tree Page with a special layout and view
Which one to use depends on how often you have to use this.
You can see an example under:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=41053:30
Here is a quick hack for the Tree Page variant, that may help you.
Using a Tree page uning a view and changing the tree template gives you some of
this functionality. If you have to do more of this kind use a stylesheet (.css) to
    controll the layout.
    1. Create a View that represents your Hierarchy (Structure)
For every level create a UNION secion.
Using UNION you can get the records from different sources also.
    2. Create a Page with a Tree, SQL Query Based.
Use the View that you created before.
NAME .. are the levels of your dimensions
A1, A2 .. are your measures of your fact
ID, PID .. the hierarchy (structure) information
    * Step 1 - creating a view:
create or replace view tree as
select id, pid, name, link, a1, a2
    from (
    -- Level 1 (Root Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') id, null pid,
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') name, null link,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99') a1, to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99') a2
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY')
    UNION
    -- Level 2
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month')
    UNION
    -- Level 3 (Leaf Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day')
)If you have a lot of this kind of reports you realy should think to
use discoverer. It does a lot of sql behind the szenes and also in the
presentation logic - this is what you have to do here by hand.
If you have more than two measures (A1,A2) you can do the
formatting in your view (realy ugly, but it is a workaround).
    * Step 2: Create the tree page
    Tree Query:
    select
"ID" id, "PID" pid, "NAME" name,
    null link, a1 a1, a2 a2
    from TREEBefore Tree:
    <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">After Tree:
    </table>Leaf Node:
    <td style="background:#cece9c;
    border-style:solid;
