Drill in EVDRE

Hi!
We have problem when drilling in EVDRE reports.
When we choose u201CExpand by overwriting rowsu201D as Drill down option, drill downs only works when double clicking on the EVDES cell when clicking on the ID cell nothing happends.
And the opposite when using u201CExpand by inserting new rowsu201D
When we choose u201CExpand by inserting new rowsu201D as Drill down option, drill downs only works when double clicking on the ID cell when clicking on the EVDES cell nothing appends.
Is it supposed to work like this?
We are using BPC 7.5 SP03 on SQL 2008
Regards
Fredrik

Hi!
I have done some more testing and found out that this only happends in a couple of our reports, what happends when clicking on the EVDES cell is that the formula is shown in the cell and no drill is executed. When clicking on the ID in the same report works fine.

  • Drill though not active in EVDRE report

    Hi,
I have created DB drill through and it works fine in an any by any report but the drill through icon is disable when i try to drill through an EVDRE report.
sometimes the drill through button is enabled but i am getting connection error "Connection failure or open result set failed"
    please give your suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Bala

A few clarification questions are needed:
What version are you working on?
Is the ANY by ANY and EVDRE report?  or is it an old style report?
How many keys are you using?  Is this only drillable on Account, or entity, more?
If you have a simple drill thru on Account, does it work consistently?
That is how I would approach this as a test...
    Hope that helps.

  • EVDRE Drill thru to Bex

I am trying to drill through from BPC EVDRE to BW Bex report.

Use the "Example 3" for setting the value of a variable in BEX 7.X Queries.
Set the Drill Through parameters to:
URL: standard BEX 7.X URL from http:// to ?Query=QueryTechName
    URL Parameter // Source // Characteristic/Value
    BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE // User Defined // SET_VARIABLES_STATE
    BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE // User Defined // VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING
    BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE-VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING // DimensionName // ID or Property
    BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE // User Defined // VaribleTechName
    Example 3
In the command editor, you have the set the command for setting the value of variable PRODUCT_VAR to PDS06. The XHTML view in the Web Application Designer displays the following result (only the INSTRUCTION node is show in this example):
    <bi:INSTRUCTION >
       <bi:SET_VARIABLES_STATE >
    <bi:VARIABLE_VALUES type="ORDEREDLIST" >
    <bi:VARIABLE_VALUE type="COMPOSITE" index="1" >
    <bi:VARIABLE_TYPE type="CHOICE" value="VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING" >
    <bi:VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING value="PDS06" />

    </bi:VARIABLE_VALUE>
    </bi:VARIABLE_VALUES>
    </bi:SET_VARIABLES_STATE>
    </bi:INSTRUCTION>
This results in the following URL parameterization:
    &BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_VARIABLES_STATE
    &BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE=VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING
    &BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE-VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING=PDS06
    &BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE=PRODUCT_VAR

  • Dynamic EVDRE, Drill Down insserting and a formula

    Hi,
    I need your help.
I need to do a dynamic EVDRE report, where the customer can see the details of the accounts (Drill Down option: expand by inserting news accounts), and between the dynamic rows I have rows with formulas.
    I've got this RangeOption:
    PageKeyRange     Sheet1!$I$3:$I$13
    ColKeyRange     Sheet1!$H$15:$I$16
    RowKeyRange     Sheet1!$F$19:$F$24;Sheet1!$F$26:$F$37
    The ExpansionOption:
    ExpandIn     COL     COL     ROW
    Dimension     TIME     CATEGORY     ACCOUNT
    MemberSet     SELF     SELF     LDEP(1,A_111),A_111,A_112,A_113|DEP(A_114),A_114
In the rows represented by pipes (' | ')     I've got a formula like this: =R1/R2 (R1,R2 are references to the fields)
All this is ok when I do this:
    - I expand the report
    - I do doble click in a field to see the detail account
    - I do doble click in the same field to hide the detail account
    - I expand again the report
This dont work if I do this:
    - I expand the report
    - I do doble click in a field to see the detail account
    - I expand again the report... I loose the reference to the fields!!
Some idea about what can I do??
    Thanks
    BR.

I checked than the problem was because I loose the expansion.

  • Report - Drill Down and more than one evdre (problems)

    Hi people!!!
I am trying to do a report with 3 evdre's. The report has some columns that are expanded using AfterRange.
The areas of expansion of the evdre's are one under the other.
The 3 evdre's works fine until I use the drill down.
After I do the drill down, just the area of my first evdre looks fine.
For my last two last evdre's, my AfterRange stops working and no drills happens.
Somebody already faced this same problem and can assist me?
    Thanks a lot!!

    Hi Sandro,
thanks a lot for your answer.
I understand that SLD works like a DNS - but why do I have an ExchangeProfile in the SLD?
    I checked SAPSLDAPI - OK.
SLDCHECK is OK too! ... but in IB - Repository I get an error while importing SWCV: no connection to SLD.
I think I have to check the connection between  IB-Repository and SLD ... bad think

  • Advanced template to drill down from one dimension to another

    Dear all:
    Situation
I am trying to create an report that displays my Accounts by month. In addition, after I double-click each account (if it is a base member), it drills down to open Entity (in my case Cost Center) associated with that Account number. In the Entity drill-down section, once the Entity becomes a base member, it drills down to IO (internal orders) associated with a particular cost center.
    Data
    1. I tried to manipulate existing "Double Drill Down" dynamic template, and disabled the column expansion (because my columns consist of months of actual vs. budget and some ratio calculation). The problem is that after I drilled down, my EVGTS formula was not replicated in the other dimension
    2. I tried to integrate EVEXP into EVDRE but was unsuccessful too... The expansion worked as if everything got expanded at the same time.
    Question
Is my approach correct? Is this an even good practice to do, or I should keep it as standard as possible?
    Thank you!
    Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
    Brian

The double-drill down dynamic template accommodate my need, except I didn't modify the report to my format correctly.

  • From Drill Down to Drill Across

    Hi Forum,
I'm using drill down from parent to child of the account dimesion.
I'd like also drill across dimensions.
For example, I have a report by account and I'd like drill to flow dimension. Cause i don't want to see the flow dimension for all account. The user want to see the flow details when he means that is necessary see it (unpredictable).
Is it possible? If yes how it works?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Gianluca

    Hi,
Im not too sure, when you say drill across dimensions....
My suggestion accoridng to my undertanding is to maintain a property called flow against in acct dimension and populate it with a "Y"  for account ids for which you want to display the flow dimension.
Use simple IF formula in your control sheet or anyother excel aoning with your  EVDRE sheet like below and apply the same inn your flow dimension expansion.
If Flow_Property of Acct is Y
    then
    Flow_ALL  in Expansion .
    else
    flow_none.
Also, If it is not based on accounts, and you wantto kae it dynamic, populate it with Flow_None always and give the user the option of selecting which accts he wants to select a flow id.
this can be done with the help of excel macro and the same excel formula as above.
    hope this helps

i know we can use drill down in input schedule.
For all my input schedules i am using sumparent (from options in evdre).
sumparent which does sums automatically.(based on account dimension hierarchy).
is there any way i can use drill down with sumparent in my input shcedule.

have you tried changing your workbook options to overide cells?

  • BPC 7.5 MS Drill Down works on one dimension in rows but not the other

    Good day,
Working in BPC 7.5 MS.  I have a piped report with 3 dimensions in rows.  Members in the first dimension are hard-coded in the expand range.  The second dimension is a combination of SELF and DEP members.  The third is set to SELF.  In our original AppSet, I can double-click drill down on both the second and third dimensions without issue.
I've re-created this report in a new AppSet (same BPC version).  All settings are essentially identical (I've double and triple checked).  The drill down works on the second dimension, but not the third.  I've run out of places to look to find the problem.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kim

It took a while but I finally found some quiet time to re-visit this issue.  Thank you for the suggestions above.  Ultimately I verified that the hierarchy, member selection and tables were all ok.
My next step was to create a new EVDRE with the same members and slowly factor in the piping, membersets, etc.  Drill down worked appropriately.  So that told me something else was at work.
Turns out the problem was with one of the 'display' columns to the right of the row key range.  These columns use formulas to display a triangle if the member isn't calc, thus giving the end user a visual clue that you can drill down on the member.  Long story short, BPC just didn't like that formula.  A minor change (along with some conditional formatting to replace the piece of formula that was removed) eliminated the problem.  Drill down is now working.

  • Drill Through Parameters

    Hello,
Our organization would like to take advantage of the Drill Through functionality that is built into BPC for NetWeaver 7.5.  In both the How To Guide and several blog/forum posts, the examples shown for the parameterized URL call state that the values passed as parameters must be at the base level of the dimension.  This is an unrealistic expectation for our business case.
We have a custom Drill Through developed for our implementation of BPC for Microsoft 7.0.  The report we execute the Drill Through from is a financial cost report.  Rows(Account) and columns(Time) are rarely displayed at the base value-level.  In addition we have EvDRE filters for Company, Profit Center, and Cost Center that are usually set at the "All" level (but not always).  Business users drill through a specific cell to see all detail transaction data corresponding to the cell value.
In order to "explode" each dimension, we developed custom user-defined functions in SQL Server.  A dimension value is passed to the function, the function "explodes" through the dimension and returns a list of all base level values related to the passed value.  The tables returned from each function (account, time, company, cost center, profit center) are then used to filter transaction detail via a SQL Server stored procedure.
It must be possible to develop this same sort of "dimension explosion" logic within the BPC for NetWeaver 7.5 environment.  The question is how can it be accomplished?  We've come up with some possible alternatives:
    1) Develop a transaction which can be accessed through the ITS.  The transaction would read the BPC dimensions as stored in the BW, perform the "dimension explosion" logic, then pass the value lists for each dimension as filters to a custom ABAP report or Bex Query,
    2) Develop logic in .ASPX/C# to execute a Microsoft SSIS package that pulls data from the dimensions using the SAP BI connection manager.  The resulting value lists are then passed to a parameterized WebI or Crystal Report.
    3) Develop a custom menu selection, calling macro logic created within our cost report.  The macro logic would perform the "dimension explosion" logic, then somehow store the resulting value lists so they can be consumed by the drill through executed via a call to mnu_ETOOLS_DRILLTHOUGH_RUN.
We're not sure how feasible each of these alternatives are, and hope some of you out there can share your thoughts.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help!
    Wendell Giedeman

    Wendell,
It seems that you've thought this through pretty thoroughly!
One other option to consider would be regularly synchronizing BPC and BW versions of your hierarchy, and then doing a lookup on the BW side without directly referencing the BPC dimension data. Yet another option would be loading your detailed data into BPC and then doing the "explosion" by using EVHOT to jump to a report on the detailed application.

  • EVDRE error "encountered problem when retrieving data from webserver"

    Hi,
in a EVDRE we always get the error "encountered problem when retrieving data from webserver"
When analysing this further we noticed this is always generated when a base member is selected in the CV and the expansion on the row for this dimension is has one of the following expansion settings:
    DEP
    ALL
    NOEXPAND
if we select SELF, the error disappears again and the EVDRE works fine again ... is this normal behavior?
there is no problem with application nor dimension.
    D
    solved it

Note that the keyword "ALL" does not include the member itself. This may cause some confusion, but as Harish implies, when you select a base member it finds no matches if your memberset is "ALL".
If you want to design a report to handle the user moving back and forth between base and non-base members in their CV, you either need to include SELF,ALL or SELF,DEP, or something similar....
OR you need to get a little fancier, and use EVPRO to look and see if the CV member is base -- evpro(app, member,"CALC") -- and then use some conditional logic in Excel to choose the correct expansion options. If Calc=N, use Self, otherwise use SELF,DEP or whatever you choose. This can be a bit tricky if you then want the user to be able to drill down in the report (especially if you want the workbook option to insert add'l rows on the expansion, rather than replace), but it's all possible.

  • Use evdre to query data from a SQL View

    Hi all
I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?
    Regards,
    Byron

Byron,  perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this.  However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file.  This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level.  Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME"  If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
Also:  I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
In your EVDRE, set the following options:
    QueryEngine: MANUAL
QueryType:  enter either NEXJ  OR TUPLE  see below:
NEXJ  - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
TUPLE  - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
    QueryViewName
"..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "
    Option SQLOnly
"..to enforce the query engine to only execute SQL queries, when reading data. This can be achieved using this option."

  • Reporting Services Error after Interactive sorting and drill down in pps

    Hi
i have a report  that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific  parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns  parent group &  workgroup

i receive this Reporting Services Error  :
The value for parameter 'SortItem' is not specified. It is either missing from the function call, or it is set to null. (rsMissingParameter) Get
    Online Help
If I don't press the sorting and just drill through it works fine. the sorting itself also works fine.
    any suggestions ?

    Hi Hyaron,
I am unable to reproduce the issue in my test environment. How did you add the drilldown feature? Were you doing that by setting visibility of the column or of the group? Please ensure to add the drilldown functionality by set the visibility of the workgroup
from the Grouping Pane in the Report Designer.
How did you add the Interactive Sorting on the headers of the two columns? Based on the drilldown functionality, the Interactive Sorting on the second column doesn’t work. So, you can move the Interactive Sorting on the second column. When configuring the
Interactive sorting on the first column, you should set the parent group to sort, and sort by the field that the parent group groups by.
    Hope this helps.

I'm using label based menu "filterd rows" only but i couldn't bind the drill down with the 1st stacked column chart.
    for mor details:
    1) i'm having 2 stacked coumn charts & 1 lebel based menu but eventhough i couldn't able to achieve.
if i select the lebel based values then the 2nd stacked column charts is giving detailed valus but if i keep my mouse on the 1st stacked column chart the there is no changes on the 2nd chart..
somewhere i'm mising the binding data between 1st stacked coumn chart & lebel based menu on drill down part.
Becoz i'm having multiple rows. so can you please try your and send me the xlf file using your concept.
