Drop down filling short cuts

Hello,
I am building a form with drop down boxes. These are ued to answer questions with Yes, No and N/A. I would like the end user to be able to tab to the next drop down and type either a number or a letter as a shortcut to fill out the boxes (vs. having to click). For example type in 1 for yes, 2 for no, 3 for N/A...
Can I do that and how?

Yes you can.
Here's how.
1) Allow custom text entry on the drop-down list.
2) On the binding tab, select 'Specify Item Values'. By default when you click 'Specify Item Values' Designer will add values starting with 1. Since I added the List Items in the order 'Yes', 'No', 'N/A' they are assigned 1, 2, 3.
Now a user can enter a value into the field and the respective text value will appear. For example, enter '1' and 'Yes' appears.
Probably a good idea to add some validation to each drop-down so only 1, 2, or 3 can be entered. For example....

Font size in drop-down fill in the blank quiz questions.

I've migrated an old Quiz from Captivate 4 to Captivate 5. All went reasonably well except for the fill-in-a-blank questions. Fortunately there are only relevatively few of these, but I've encountered a strange problem when I started to do this.
I've set up a style which applies to the fill-in-a-blank question, using biggish text (30pt) because the viewers of the test will not have perfect vision. The text reproduces fine when I publish with the exception of the text in the drop down box. This is appearing as what looks to be about 10pt and not in keeping with the style that applies to the question.
Here's what I mean...
I've looked up and down the menus and in the helpfiles but I can't find out how to control the drop-down text size. Any help would be gratefully received as otherwise I'll have to abandon this type of question.

Hello Henry,
Have reported this issue to the Adobe team, but cannot help you to solve it.
If you could replace the dropdown list by really to type words, there the style of the sentence itself is taken over.

ODBC TNS Service drop down filled with garbage records.

We have Oracle installed on our network. I am trying to install the Oracle ODBC drivers onto my Windows XP machine to create a connection to use in Crystal Reports XI.
I do not have any oracle products installed on my machine so I downloaded the basic client and the client odbc zip files and installed them into a local directory and then ran the install odbc exe and added the windows PATH which installed the odbc source. When I add a new Windows ODBC Data Source on the configuration screen the list of TNS Service names is filled with dozens of garbage records. I would guess this is not correct so how do I resolve this? I assume this is suppose to be a list of connections to oracle databases read from a tnsnames.ora file but I could be wrong. I find no tnsnames.ora file on my computer but I assume there is this file in the oracle directories on the server somewhere. I am not sure where to go from here. Can anyone advise on how to get the connections I need and clean up the garbage? Thanks.

I am having the same issue, did you ever resolve this issue ?
I do have a reg setting and enviroment variable for this setting that both point to the same place and I can actually use odbc to create connections but when I use the drop down list I just get garbage.
Simular setup to your , xp sp3 , instant client , odbc client , sql client.
I also have an nls_lang as well as adding the path of the isntall to the path var.

The Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down keyboard short cuts don't seem to work anymore. Can we get this back?

Until the latest update (I'm guessing v 34.x), the search bar's icon would show you the currently selected default search engine. I understand that Google is no longer paying to be the default... That I was expecting and isn't my issue....
I used to be able to use Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down to change the default search engine (maybe default isn't the right term... but it changed what was used when I hit <Enter> or <Alt+Enter>). Now, there's no support for this as far as I can tell.
This shortcut page (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly) still references it, but it doesn't seem to work.
As a sort of side note: Where typically, middle clicking on anything opens stuff up in a new tab, that behavior does not seem to carry over when clicking one of the non-default options in the search context menu. I've always appreciated that Firefox was very consistent about respecting the middle click as "do this in a new tab" what seems EVERYWHERE.

If you start typing a search term then a drop-down list opens.
You can use the Tab key to select other search engines that show on the bottom bar.
If you want to restore the previously used standalone window to manage search engines then you can toggle this pref to false with a middle-click on the about:config page.

You need to close and restart Firefox to make this work properly.

Drop down listing not showing

On my new MacBook Air, in a online CRM software NetSuite, the drop down does not show all of the items. The drop down is trunckated, cutting off the last 5 or so item. For drop downs with a shorter list of options this is not a problem. Suggestions?

Not an Apple application so there isn't much we can do. I would recommend restarting the computer and retesting, if the problem persists you should contact the developer for support and ensure the license you have is designed to run on the version of OS X installed on your system.

Editable Drop down in ALV

Fill-In-The-Blank drop down space issue

Hi,
I have Captivate 7 and am putting in a number of Fill-In-The-Blank quiz questions and using the drop down but when the user makes the selection, not all the words are shown, it cuts off the last few letters and in some cases where I have a one character you can't see any of the answer.
Any ways around this? (Other than not using one character)

Do you need scoring? There is a Scrolling Text interaction (more control, you can empty the variable and it will be displayed empty) but it is a non-interactive one, no score possible except by adding other interactive objects.

Can't use down key because it opens automator. Does any one know how to disable this short cut?

Everytime I press down on down key it opens automator. It doesn't let me delete the app. I don't know what to do, it is very frustating to fill in a chart when I can't use the down key. Does any one know how to disable this short cut?

Are you talking about the Down Arrow key? To my knowledge there is no way to use that key as a shortcut for anything. But look in the Keyboard section of System Preferences and the Keyboard shortcut tab.

Fill-In-The-Blank drop-down list in HTML5 output

I'm working in Captivate 7 (WIN) and developing for both SWF and HTML5 output, viewing courses in IE9 for Windows and Safari on iPad.
I have a quiz containing a fill-in-the-blank question, using a drop-down list to select the correct answer, however it does not display the drop-down button or function correctly in HTML5 output (see screenshot).
The issue began after updating to Captivate 7 version 7.0.1.237. The drop-down list worked prior to the update I installed recently. I'm viewing the published course locally and in the LMS, and it does not work in either.
I've not read in the help documents that drop-down list questions are an unsupported question type in HTML5, and so I'm wondering if this is a bug that needs to be reported. Has anyone encountered this issue?

Populate a drop down list with data from Excel and fill in a text field, based on drop down selectio

I have a problem with a PDF form: There's a drop down list that I populate with Excel data that I've put in an XML file through an XSD file -- no problem here. The drop down list has a data binding to the XML file, so that a choice in the drop down list can be associated with an object in the XML file. So, when I make a choice in the drop down list, a corresponding object value is fetched from the XML file and put in a text field on the form.

There's a snag, though, and to describe it more clearly:
The XML file contains three types of objects: role, role number, and role cost center. Of these I use the first and the third, i.e. the role and the role cost center. The drop down list contains the roles, and when I select a role, the corresponding cost center is filled out in the text field. So far, so good!
But -- if the cost center has the same value for two or more roles, all of these roles "bounce back" into the drop down list, that is, they are all selected in the drop down list. How many of these you can see depend on the height of the drop down list -- if it's low you'll only see the first one.
If I modify Stefan Cameron's data in his example I get the same behavior, so the problem seems to have to do with how XML data are fetched.
I'm sure there's a workaround, but I can't find it! I've spent many hours browsing the web without finding anyone with a similar problem.

I need to create a drop down list of names which I wish to somehow link to an Excel spreadsheet.
Please let me know the steps I need to do. I've tried several things, but nothing seems to work and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

How to fill a drop down box in a webdynpro application

drop down box having fixed elements   always.....
means all values should be static and i have to fill it at design time only..

If u r using Dropdown By Key, u can use the method that Armin suggested.
If u r using Dropdown By Index, then do the following
Let ur View Name be 'MyView'
1. In ur View Context,Create a Node(Say Root) of Cardinality 0..N
2. Create a value attribute(Say Name) in 'Root'.
3. In wdDoInit(), add the following code
IPrivateMyView.IRootNode rNode=wdContext.nodeRoot();
IPrivateMyView.IRootElement rEl=rNode.createRootElement();
rNode.addElement(rEl);
rEl.setName("HIGH");
rEl=rNode.createRootElement();

How can I get the drop down window for a ID and P/W "Always remember" Auto Fill

Recently I had a mail issue with my ATT (Yahoo) Mail account and they temporarily changed by Password.
After the issue was resolved I changed it back but the auto fill kept the temporary Password in Safari when I log onto my e-mail account via the internet instead of the Apple Mail program.
In the Past, whenever I would put a different P/W or ID there would be a drop down window that said :
Never, later or Always remember", at least something like that terminology.
Since I have had no reason to change P/W or ID lately I do ot know if it is Lion issue or if there is a way of getting the drop down to appear.

My requirement, is to use dynamic drop down in dynamic table. I am using webdynpro abap.
i populated the value in drop down.
Its working fine but the problem is how to fill the default value in drop down. because i want to bind the default value which im getting specify value from the table.because each row
im getting different values, like first row
CAR
, that CAR want to fill as a default value in drop down and second row as
BIKE
that BIKE want to fill as default value in drop down ( example drop down contain car , bike , cycle).
In adobe form i binded like this

i dont know whether this one is correct or wrong .
im getting default value as empty.
please give me some solution how to do this.its very urgent

On the Firefox drop down menu for Firefox 4, the tab for cut, copy and paste is not highlighted. Is there another way for me to include this on the Firefox start page?

I have Firefox 4. In the Firefox drop down menu, there is an option to cut, copy and paste but it is not highlighted. Please tell me how to highlight this link. Or is there a way to have a cut copy and paste tab?

Those links in the Edit menu are only highlighted if there is something to do: 
Paste should be enabled if the clipboard has data placed on it by a previous Copy or Cut and you have set focus on a text area or field that allows to paste that data.
Copy works if some text is selected.

New Mac - list keyboard short cuts not include "page down" or down a line or down 2-3 lines. Only short cut for top of page and end of page. Do not have Home or End button on Mac keyboard
