Drop down list in Numbers

Hey Everyone,
I am currently working on a private cost center plan and stuck with this problem:
In cell C2 I have a drop down list to choose a specific cost center. Now I want to have a drop down list for my types of costs in D2 but I want the options to depend on what I chose in my Drop down list in C2. In other words each choice from the list in C2 provides me with other options in the list in D2.
Example
C2 drop down list: Apartment, Food
-> if I chose Apartment
Options in D2: loan, electricity, water, heating
-> if I chose Food
Options in D2: fruits, soda, bread
Does anyone have an Idea how to do this?

No message about moving or deleting. I guess it is Glitch of the Day. Let's wait and see if it gets fixed.
ps in step 5 the note about preserve row is unneeded- if in step 8 you copy and use Menu > Insert > Copied Rows the formula will adjust.
That is where I went wrong earlier. I did 'preserve row' ($ sign) and then had trouble with Insert Copied Rows (they kept the static references to the single Order Form rows and the expanded table did not work).
Therefore I added this note in Step 5 to not 'preserve row' in step 5 so that the formulas would adjust in Step 8.
Note: don't Preserve Row or this will not work if you want to expand it to an order form for multiple purchases. (See Step 8.)
I am glad we finally worked this out . Sorry for my misunderstanding of your earlier solution (without $ signs).

I am creating a template with drop down menus in Numbers. I want to be able to insert options into the middle of my list at a later date if I need to, but I can only insert at the end of the drop down list. Is there a different program I could be using?

I need to be able to add in more options into my drop down list in Numbers at a later time, not only at the bottom but say in the middle of the list. Should I be using a different program that can allow this to work? Thank you!

Where is this example spreadsheet? Without seeing it I can only guess at what you are asking.
To make a drop-down list (a pop-up menu in Numbers-speak), format the cell as a pop-up then edit and add to the list of items.
If the example spreadsheet is pulling in a dollar value based on what car you chose in the pop-up, it is probably using LOOKUP or one of the other lookup functions, getting the information from another table (a lookup table). If, instead, these dollar values are what you are choosing in the pop-up, then you need to create a pop-up with these values in it.
The Help menu includes a link to a page where you can download the Numbers Users Manual. It also has a link to the Formulas and Functions guide. Both are useful to new users.

Select the cells that you want to format as Pop-up
In the Cells Inspector, Choose "Pop-up menu"
In the Cells Inspector, the default menu is 1, 2, 3 - Edit these entries to your liking. It will apply to all the selected cells.

Get/Set values from a drop down list

I am trying to modify the http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/web-jpa-part2.html so that instead of entering the data from a text field (in update & add) the values come from a drop down list from a table. I have drop down lists that are populated bothe from the DB and hard coding. When I run, I am able to see the options on the DDs. But none of the CRUD work. I think this is because my set and get for the drop down is wrong. Then again, I also have a few text fields from the original example which also don't seem to work. Here is a piece of my addButton():

Now table Main

Using the values from a drop down list to display in a separate cell

Hi all,
I must apologise if I don;t use the right 'terminology' as I am just an ordinary guy who uses a mac. I am also deaf which means I am totally dependant on the internet for fixing solutions.
Basically, I wanted to create a drop down list which I had no problem doing.
In the drop down, I have the options One-Piece, Two-Piece and Three-Quarter.
I would like to get it so that when I select the One-Piece, the value of 160 appears in a separate cell. If I select Two-Piece, then I would need 130 to appear in that separate cell. Likewise, Three-Quarter to produce 150.
Just to clarify, if we had a two-column and one row table, then the drop-down would be in A1, which the values would appear in B1.
I do not know the formula, and cannot find any instructions anywhere as I am probably using the wrong terminology or function name!
Any help would be much, much appreciated..

How do I create a drop down list to e-mail a form for signature.

The desired workflow is for
1)      Firefighter 1 to complete the top portion of the Agreement
section, sign in the Firefighter 1 signature field (which locks the top
portion of the Agreement Section), then select Firefighter 2 from the
e-mail drop down list and e-mail the PDF form to Firefighter 2;
2)      Firefighter 2 opens the e-mail and the PDF attachment,
completes the second portion of the Agreement Section, sign in the
Firefighter 2 signature field (which locks the bottom portion of the
Agreement Section), select Lieutenant 1 from the e-mail drop down list
and e-mail the PDF form to Lieutenant 1;
3)      Lieutenant 1 opens the e-mail and the PDF attachment, checks
the approved box, signs the Lieutenant 1 signature field, select
Lieutenant 2 from the e-mail drop down list and e-mail the PDF form to
Lieutenant 2;
4)      Step three continues through Lieutenant 2, Battalion Chief 1
and Battalion Chief 2
5)      Battalion Chief 2 sends the fully completed form back to
Firefighter 1 who copies the completed form to Firefighter 2
Note: if any of the officers disapprove the agreement the disapproved
form is immediately sent back to Firefighter 1

Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Numbers '09 forum.
Numbers vocabulary for this feature is a "Pop-up Menu". It's available as a Cell Format, and is set and edited in the Cell Format Inspector.
See "Using a Checkbox, Slider, Stepper, or Pop-Up Menu in Table Cells" starting on page 96 of the Numbers '09 User Guide.
This guide, and the equally useful iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide are available for download through the Help menu in Numbers.

just applied for skype number but my area is not on the drop-down list can't get any further until I choose something from the list, what do I do, just pick the nearest area?

Yes, you are correct: you would need to choose a Skype Number nearest where you ultimately wished to have your Skype Number located. Ultimately, the number would be best situated so that those who call it the most would not incur toll charges; however, that said, Skype Numbers are not available absolutely everywhere for several legitimate reasons.

Error while populating drop down list with values from a database

I have a JSP page with a drop down list that is to be populated with values from a database.
This is the code in my JSP file:

UPDATE: I commented out the form, and added <%=floornumbers.size()%> right above the commented code to check if the ArrayList is indeed getting populated with the values from the database (the values are of type integer in the database). The page still freezes like before. I'm puzzled now :confused: .

How to use value in a drop-down list box as "With these Values" parameter?

Hello, new user.
I have a drop-down list box on Page 1, upon which the user can choose a study number. The List Box is named "P1_STUDY_NBR".
Then I have a list, one entry of which goes to my master-detail form, which is Page 6. I would like it to go to the study number that the user choose on Page 1.
In my target on the create/edit list entry, I put in "Page in this Application", "Page 6", then in Set these items, I put in
P6_STUDY_NBR
My question is what to use in With these values, where I want the contents of the P1_STUDY_NBR. I tried:
&P1_STUDY_NBR
and that does not work. If I put in one of the study numbers, like 336-00, then it does work, but I want it to pass the study number the user chooses in the list box. How do I refer to the contents of P1_STUDY_NBR?

Yes, that does work, thanks. I'm now getting the default value I was putting in yesterday rather than an error message, so there must be something loading it, but I'll hunt around for what process might be doing that, or try re-creating the master-detail form again.

Why won't my drop down list populate from the array?

Hi Jerald,
You can't assign null to the display value of a drop down control. If you change the HUD activity number array to remove the null it should work.
That is;
// Array of HUD Activity Numbers.
var actNum = new Array(" ","1 ","2 ","3 ");

Output devices list not appearing completely in the drop down list

Hi,
I have a query where I am not able to see all the 583 output devices in the drop down list of output device for a transaction code whereas I can see all the output devices in SPAD. Can anyone tell me the reason for this?

Dear Brijesh,
You can show all the value, click on the restriction button, then change the max numbers of hits to 10000,then you can list all the data in drop down, as per i know in standard it will only give you 500.

Omitting drop down lists if a certain drop choice is chosen

I have 5 drop down lists that have data binding to populate a text field with number values (12-34-567-89012-34). There is one choice in the first drop down list that will populate the entire numbered sequence. If that drop down choice is chosen, I would like the next 4 drop downs to be skipped. How can I do this?

Something like this should work.
The attached form has three drop-downs (dd1, dd2 and dd3) each with a default value of "00". On dd1 exit event I check if "01" was chosen. If so I set dd2 and dd3 access to "protected" and their values to "00".

Check the Demo program BCALV_EDIT_06 with having the DATA_CHANGED event still you can capture the changed data. This event will help you.
