Dropped user anonymous

Installing Apex Embedded 4.2 on Oracle 11g(64) I accidentally dropped the user ANONYMOUS. I found in the catqm.sql the following text and tried to create ANONYMOUS again using the text as follows.
create user anonymous identified by values 'anonymous' default tablespace &res_tbs; (exluded "default tablespace")
EXECUTE dbms_registry.loading('XDB', 'Oracle XML Database', 'DBMS_REGXDB.VALIDATEXDB', 'XDB', dbms_registry.schema_list_t('ANONYMOUS'));
grant create session to anonymous;
alter user anonymous account lock;
However when I started the Apex installation again it stopped in line 11 or very soon. XML DB's status in dba_registyi is now 'LOADING' .
I'd want to know a simple procedure to correct my ANONYNOUS and XML DB . E.g. is it secure enough to start the whole catqm.sql, which creates the user or do I configure XML DB somehow. I'd not like to ruin the database and other applications depending on it. -- Very grateful for solutions.

Hi,
Do you have backup where you can restore?
Maybe you like post question to Database General or Installation forum as this is not actually APEX related question.

• How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?

How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?
We have 817 EE on NT and one developer created a lot of procedures, functions and vews. DB was not backuped and archived and export has not been done - our fault and we understand it. Sorry for this.
Ok, now the story: another developer dropped this db user and we lost everything: procedures, functions and vews. The new user with trhe same name was created and new schema was imported in this user, but all old objects are lost. We don't have export and backup and archive log files.
Question: may we can restore this lost stuff from some other sources. We are looking for lost codes, not data. May be we can use redo logs or shared pool or any other things. Any idea will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Victor
[email protected]

The switch has occurred after user was dropped, the data has been overwritten and there is be no way to use redo log files.
I would like to explore another opportunity. Is possible to use Shared Pool or any Data Dictionary internal information to restore texts of the lost SQL and PL/SQL scripts executed in this DB before user was dropped? Not too many scripts are executed in this DB and the lost ones may still be in stack. I remember that Shared Pool (cash) should keep last executed scripts in order to improve performance. They probably are kept in some special format. Can we restore these scripts? Of course they also might be pushed out by Import that had been done after user was dropped.
Thanks for your help,
Victor

• Error dropping user in Oracle 9.2.0.8 on Windows

When I do a drop user either command line or using OEM, I get the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01001: invalid cursor
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxiUnpPacked2], [121], [], [], []
Has anyone seen this?
Cheers/

Are you working a newly created database, or one that just upgraded?
That error generally appears when the catpatch.sql was not ran.
If so try, the following:
shutdown the database
startup migrate
spool patch.log
@?/rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
spool
Verify that no errors are appear in patch.log. If no error occured, shutdown the database and start it back up.

• Drop user in PL/SQL

I am writing a Pl/SQL script to delete a user from certain tables and then end it with a DROP USER command. Is this possible and if so
how would I code the variable that I inputed into my &username_in variable? Is DROP USER a command that can not be used in a PL/SQL command because even when I do it straight like DROP USER XXXXXX; I get some sort of PRAGMA error.
thanks
Dan Willging

It should work like this, but i haven`t tested it:
create or replace procedure drop_user ( user_name in varchar2 ) as
cur INTEGER;
begin
cur := DBMS_SQL.open_cursor;
DBMS_SQL.parse ( cur, 'DROP USER ' | | user_name, DBMS_SQL.V7 );
DBMS_SQL.close_cursor( cur );
exception
when others then
DBMS_SQL.close_cursor( cur );
raise_application_error( -20000,'Error in drop_user', true );
end;
In Oracle 8 you can also write this shorter version
create or replace procedure drop_user ( user_name in varchar2 ) as
begin
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP USER ' | | user_name;
end;

You forgot to mention that you need to actually move the files, at the os level. All the above does is change their entries in the control file. It doesn't do anything at all to the files themselves.

No need for the shutdown. You could just ALTER DATBASE OPEN.

you can get a full listing of files by
alter database backup controlfile to trace;
and you can then copy and paste from that ...
Simpler, just select from dba_data_files.
eta. of course assuming you mean move your database files rather than your installation

• CMC Authentication Active Directory Synchronization Updates Drops Users

We are using SAP Business Objects on a Windows Server 2008 box and have configured single sign-on using Active Directory. We schedule the Active Directory in the Authentication tab to synchronize every day. Yesterday not all of the users updated and actually were dropped from the CMC. We think it was because one of the domain controllers went down for a group of users during the last CMC Active Directory Update. My question is, are there any log files we can look at for the active directory synch to see if there were any errors detected during the synchronization. It would be nice too, to be able to see a list of what actually happened during the Active directory synch like what groups, users and user group associations where added and deleted.
The result was when the users were dropped we lost any manual security setups and the user lost their favorites and preferences settings because they were dropped. Is there anyway we can insulate our Acitve Directory updates from accidentally dropping users when something goes wrong with the Active Directory Synch Update?
Any best practices would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,
Usually, if a group has been deleted or renamed in the AD controller, the group is deleted from the CMC. If a DC is not available, the group shouldn't have been deleted.
As far as I know, there are no options for debugging the action of the schedule. If you suspect that this can happen again, you can enable/disable traces on your CMS programming the creation/copy of CMS_trace.ini when the AD graph/alias schedule is going to happen.
There is an Idea that you can vote to avoid users being deleted when the group is accidentally deleted from the CMC:

In the meantime, you can also create Enterprise alias for your AD users, so even if the problem appears again, the security, inboxes and favourites will still be there.
