DS 9i upgrade to JDeveloper 9.0.3

I have Oracle DS 9i (it includes JDeveloper 9.0.2) installed on my Win XP machine. Does anybody have experience with upgrading of JDeveloper 9.0.2 to 9.0.3 in such environment? Should I just copy the content of zip file into DS 9i folder? TIA.

Hi,
You should extract 9.0.3 into a new, empty folder.
You can migrate settings from the previous release by running JDeveloper 9.0.3 from the command line using jdevw.exe -migrate. A dialog will appear - use browse to locate the ${902jdev}/jdev/system directory of the old version you want to migrate settings from. Projects will be migrated automatically when you open them.

After upgrading to JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0, page bindings are SLOW!

Hello Experts,
We recently upgraded from JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0 to version 11.1.2.2.0.
We've noticed that if you open the page bindings for a JSPX page, and then double click on anything, like a methodAction binding, it's takes a REALLY long time for the binding editor popup window to appear. By long time, I'm mean about 1/2 hour! While this is going on, I noticed that on the bottom left-hand side of the JDeveloper status bar it says "loading <view name>...", for about 10-20 seconds and then it repeats that for the next view object in our model project. We have about 180 view objects total in our project.
Does anyone know of any settings that can help speed this up?

after the import of the 11.1.1.4 project, can you try "Build --> Clean All" ? Also, does this reproduce on 11.1.2.3 (the recent 11g R2 build) as this is the build a bug would need to be filed for if it turns out to be a migration problem

Upgrade to JDeveloper 11.1.2.1 changes look and feel of application

I am developing an application that I started in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0, and I have since upgraded to JDeveloper 11.1.2.1. I migrated the project into the newer version. Since doing so, there are changes to the style of the application. I feel like it's related to a skin, because it's consistent throughout the application. I had a white background, now I have a background that's a type of gradient that goes from white to blue. My buttons, when rolling over them turn blue. Can you please tell me how I can get back the styles I had in the old version?
Nevermind...I figured it out. I had to find the correct skin-family to put in the trinidad-config.xml file.

Hi All,
We have application running on ADF 10.1.3.3 and OAS 10.1.3.3.
Reading on the bug fix of release 10.1.3.5, I am thinking of upgrading to JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.
The question is :
1) Is upgrading the applications & projects from jDev 10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.5 is straight forward ? or is there any known issue ?
2) So I have to patch the OAS to be 10.1.3.5 also ? or is it enough to just override the ADF runtime installer 10.1.3.5 into existing OAS 10.1.3.3 ?

Upgrade the libraries after you applied the patch, as the patched JAR files adfm.jar and adfshare.jar need to be installed in your iAS.

10.1.2.3 is an intermediate step trying to get to 10.1.3.5.
I have verified the error is also present when testing in 10.1.3.5.
I have gone through the release notes for 10.1.2.x but can't find anything :(

I have upgraded from 9.0.3 to 9.0.4 and still get the mentioned error.
It works on 9.0.3 and it doesn't work on 9.0.4!
I have setup two instances of OC4J to test this, one with the 9.0.3 BC4J Libraries, the other with 9.0.4 BC4J Libraries
I am using to deployment files, one created using JDev 9.0.3 and the other using JDev 9.0.4. I have tried the following combinations (results added as well)
JDev9.0.3.Ear on OC4J (with 9.0.3 BC4J Libraries) -> it works
JDev9.0.4.Ear on OC4J (with 9.0.3 BC4J Libraries) -> it works
JDev9.0.3.Ear on OC4J (with 9.0.4 BC4J Libraries) -> same exception
JDev9.0.4.Ear on OC4J (with 9.0.4 BC4J Libraries) -> same exception
I have compared the source code from 9.0.3 with 9.0.4 projects and source files are unchanged, only project files are updated.
So, could it be the JDK 1.3 to 1.4 upgrade causing an issue? The BC4J libraries (most probably)?
Any clues?

Upgradation of JDeveloper 10g

Hello Everybody,
I have installed Jdeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1.0) which works on J2SE 1.4.
I want to use J2SE 1.5 for which, I think, JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3) is required.
How can I upgarde my existing version of JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1.0) to JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3). I have also run the "Check for Updates" version from Help Menu but it show "No updates are available". Please suggest me how i can upgrade Jdev from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3 ASAP!!!

Error message balloon not showing after JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 upgrade

Hello
We recently upgraded to JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 from 11.1.1.1.
The error message balloon for invalid items does not automatically appear anymore like it did in the 11.1.1.1 version. The item is outlined with red, indicating an error; however the user has to navigate the cursor on that field to get the error message balloon to show up.
Is there anything that I can do to so that error message balloon appears automatically when an error occurs?

Never got this issue resolved.
I came up with a JavaScript walkaround:

Issue in upgrading JDeveloper or installing extension in it

Hi,
Im currently havin Jdeveloper11g (11.1.1.3.0) .Could I know how to upgrade my JDeveloper 11g from version 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.3.37.56.60?
I need to add extension "spring & Weblogic SCA 11.1.1.3.37.56.60 " ,On help>check for updates> ,by selecting the appropriate extension and proceeding with this , at last it ask for restart JDeveloper.
After restart I couldn't find the spring library or spring components in Component palette in SOA Application .Can u please suggest me the procedure or link to resolve this issue?

Hello,
If you click on Help --> About you will see the complete version of JDeveloper that you are using under the Version tab.
If the Spring extension installed properly, you can look under Tools --> Preferences --> Extensions.
It will be listed as:
Oracle JDeveloper Spring, Weblogic SCA Integration
I'm not familiar with this extension itself, so I can't tell you if it's suppose to have components in the pallet or not not. The description says it provides the ability to create and edit Spring and Weblogic bean definitions.
I do see quite a few new Spring and Weblogic options in the New Gallery after installing the extension. Look under File --> New and make sure the All Technologies tab is selected. You will see entries under the General --> Deployment Descriptors and under Business Tier --> Spring.
Hope that helps you figure out if the extension installed properly.

I created my application using jdeveloper11.1.1.3 and now i upgraded my jdeveloper version to 11.1.2.1. And while using my application in this I am getting following errors.

I am having modeldriven dropdown searchfield(Combo) in my search form. while selecting the value from it and clicking search button the following errors occurs. It occurs only for combobox field.
2. ADF: Adding the following JSF error message: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1 java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1

In my Timesheet form when entering the data and saving it. this error occurs.

Missing IN or OUT parameter at index : usual mistake using some bind param. but not defining that bind param variable.

Problem releasing the application module after upgrade to 11.1.1.2

We have recently upgraded from JDeveloper 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.1.2.
In the "tearDown()" method in our Unit Tests, the Application Module is realeased using:

Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(am, true);
Alter the upgrade, this produces the following error:
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-33025: Failed to release application module MapServiceGlobal. Cookie handle not found.
Please Help.

Hi,
I used OCEP 10.3.0.0 and upgraded the wlevs30 domain to PS6(11.1.1.7.0). and it worked without such error.
My experience is:
1) in OCEP 10.3.0.0 it needs not to add the security groups in atnstore.txt
2) you need to add <scratch-directory/> for Jetty in server's config.xml otherwise you will see the visualizer takes a long time to get up on Windows

JDeveloper and JSP 1.1

Hallo,
I'm using JDeveloper 3.1 for my JSP projects.
This version of the product was deployed with OracleJSP (ojsp.jar) version 1.0.
Now, I have the need to use some JSP 1.1 feature, but I have found no hints (Technet, Metalink) to upgrade OracleJSP at version 1.1. I downloaded 3.1.1.2, but this version have not JSP 1.1 support,too.
I discovered that iAS 1.0.1 I downloaded and tried is deployed with OracleJSP 1.1.
I copied libraries ojsp.jar and ojsputil.jar from iAS to JDeveloper\lib (before I backuped my original ojsp.jar).
I tried with a simple JSP test application and all seemed ok.
But, when I tried with a production application I had this problem: some pages weren't compiled with this error:
"JDeveloper could not insert new character. 1024 line limit exceeded"
Apparently my jsp pages seemed to be syntattically correct. Also, there was a page with .jsp suffix, but integrally composed of HTML (no scriptlet).
Well I checked the .java generated from jsp and I discovered than OracleJSP 1.1 compiler has a different behaviour from the same one in release 1.0.
Pratically, OracleJSP 1.0 compiler generate an istruction out.println("...") for every text line in a JSP page.
OracleJSP 1.1 compiler generates an entry in an array char text[][] for every block in a JSP page, where a block is a sequence of istructions separated by scriptlet marks (<%...%>).
Then for every block there is a corresponding out.print(...).
What happens ? It's simple. If I have a flat HTML jsp page, I have only a "one line structure" text[0] and if all text is greater than 1024 characters, JDeveloper generate a compile error.
The same happens if I have blocks of text or scriplets greater than 1024 chars.
A simple workaround is to insert an empty scriptlet block <% %> between blocks too long, but I don't like this!
Well, could anyone help me ?
Is there an official Oracle upgrade to JDeveloper, so I could use JSP1.1 features ?

Error deploying from Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 to OAS 10.1.2

I've upgraded my Jdeveloper to 10.1.3.4 and imported an old project written in Jdev 10.1.2.0 (build 1811).
My application uses Struts, JSP, Log4j and EJB's
I can deploy to my local o4cj in the new Jdev and the applciation runs fine but when I try to deploy to my 10.1.2 app server I get the following error within the DCM log file:

It looks like it's not picking up the datasource yet it works fine via the local oc4j. From my understanding the datasource is picked up from the connections in Jdeveloper but i've tried adding a datasource.xml to my "Model" tier within the "META-INF" folder but the error is still being generated.
I've amended the J2SE version to 1.4.2_02 on both the ViewController and Model project properties as recommended within the Jdev 10.1.3.4 documentation. I've also just read the following but i'm not sure how relevant it is as the error seems to be that it can't find a datasource not that the password is not being read.

We are expecting a patch for Application Server 10.1.2 to be made available that will allow deployment of these types of applications to Application Server 10.1.2."
I imported the project datasource files from my old project that were developed in Jdev 10.2.3 rather then creating the connection via Jdev 10.1.3.4 but this still hasn't cleared the error.
I've spent a few days on this so far so any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks. Yes I did try this but when I setup the datasource via the datasources tab within the console I still received the error. This may have been due to an error on my part but I can't be sure as i've tried all sorts of different approaches over the last few days. I initially didn't have a datasource.xml so there wasn't one to exclude (via the deploy properties in Jdev) I had relied on Jdeveloper to setup the datasource via my connections. I read somewhere that Jdev does this fduring deploy and indeed it works fine for my embedded oc4j and when deplolying from Jdeveloper 10.1.2 so it would seem odd that the same approach doesn't work for Jdeveloper 10.1.3.
Surely the release notes regarding the password issue is the reason why I can't deploy from Jdev 10.1.3.4 to app server 10.1.2?
The release notes say that a patch is due to fix the issue with password indirection, Olaf do you know where I can get this?
Also how do I setup Jdev not to write the datasources during deployment? If I don't have a datasources.xml then there is nothiing to exclude. Is there a setting somewhere in Jdev 10.1.3.4?

Generating Webservices proxy in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0.4270

I have been using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 for creating .net webservice proxy for over a year now. Recently i upgraded the Jdeveloper IDE to 10.1.3.4.0.4270 and since then i m not able to connect to the webservice. Here are the steps i m taking to create the proxy which i did in the older version as well.
New --> Business Tier --> Web Service --> Web Service Proxy
WSDL Document URL -- https://ServerName/Webservice.asmx?wsdl
I am using all the default settings from Steps 2 thru 4
Step 5 -- Adding a package name, clearing the root package for generated types, checking all the other options on the screen.
Finally click Finish.
All of this still works if i were make the proxy in the previous Jdeveloper version. However with this new version i am getting the following error.

I m not able to understand why its looking for a class SPIDRInterfaceLocator which was not built by the proxy?. Or does it have some other underlying message that i m not able to see. Please help.

Can you compare the Web Browser and Proxy settings in your jdev installation.(Tools->Preferences->Web Browser and proxy)
I case that does not solve your issue:
Where is this service hosted? Is it on your localbox or you are accessing it over the net.
Can you try migrating the project created in the earlier Jdev installation and see if you can run that successfully.
