Duet Users - How Much Gain?

Hi all,
I am recording my rough vocals through a Studio Projects B1 condenser mic and my lovely Apogee Duet, and wanted to know at what gain level do other Duet users record.
I have an untreated room and I'm afraid the mic is picking up and recording a lot of static. I tried at 35db today and the added noise was pretty bad. 25db was better, but still noticeable.
Any suggestions?

Nevermind. Kept tinkering with things and realized my instrument cables going into Input 1 and 2 were causing tons of unwanted static. A-Ok now.

i'm an openSource user of MaxDB since SapDB 7.3, and i wish to know how much opensource users MaxDB have? and what is the plan of SAP to support the openSource community?
i'm asking that because i use MaxDB in production systems, and i'm worried if i can continue to use MaxDB without any trouble, because now with versions 7.6 and above, we dont have the sources.

I'm not into the details very much, but I believe the contract guys are working on something for non-sap-customers.

Cocerning the use of MaxDB without a support contract in a production environment I understand that you want more safetiness than the forum response times can give you.
The question to me is: will that be something that source code access can give you?
Does sourcecode access reduces the time for the first reaction/workaround?
I believe the answer is likely to be: no.
In the wast majority of problems I had to deal with databases the problems had been solved without even knowing the source code or consulting with somebody who knew it. The whole idea of multilevel support is build on this. (First levels solve everything that is not a bug so that developers can do what they do best: develop and code).
Therefore I get the impression that having access to the code is more a psychological thing than a real benefit.
On the other side keeping the code open puts some restrictions on the development that probably won't pay off to SAP (think of licensed routines etc. that are not GPL).
See, I don't want to put your request down - I just like to understand, what the real benefit of source code access is for you (and the other users of course).

So, SAP serves the customers that actually pay for maintenance and service better than the ones that get the software for free. Looks fair to me.
And as I already wrote: there had hardly ever been any major bugfix from the opensource community. The community was not outpaced by prohibitive release politics.
To fix bugs like the one you mentioned in one of your earlier forum threads a thorough understanding of the inner workings of the database is necessary. This knowledge won't be gained 'on-the-fly' when you're looking to fix the bug. And who is going to invest a lot of time into understanding some coding that he perhabs never will have to change just to be "on the safe side"?
About the idea of "SAP-Customers testing newer DB versions": well, there surely are some of the SAP customers trying out new releases/build as they are available.

No, honestly, one of the things about MaxDB Installations is (in difference to e.g. oracle): they are handled as "install-and-forget" setups.
I cannot recall how many messages I worked on where the release in place wasn't even supported anymore.
So to me it does not look like many of them are totally eager to check what the newest version will bring.

How much performance do I gain by enable MAT

I must try to ask you guys before am try to enable MAT
I have never entered the bios before so am a little scared that I will f-up the system.
Do anybody here at this forum with similar memory and componemts have tryed to this MAT function.
Must it be "Turbo" or "Ultra turbo" to activate MAT?
How much performance do I gain by this.....do I notice it in games....Battlefield 1942 for an example..or?
If the system do not like it...what happens, shutdown or? unstable?
Please give some advice.

MAT will give you at least a 5% increase in memory bandwidth when set to turbo mode regardless of the brand of memory you have. I own a pair of generic value ram and i see an increase of around 5 to 10 percent memory bandwidth when turbo mode is on, however my sytem fails to boot when MAT is set to ultra turbo, try to mess with the bios so you could figure out the best configuration of your system (you could measure memory bandwidth with sisoft sandra http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/), By the way your system is prepped up for hyperthreading, you own an 865pe which means your board is ready for hyperthreading, now unless you own the first generation of pentium4 procs which does not support ht, you are all set to run with hyperthreading, it would be nice if you upgrade to win xp pro or at least win2k so that you would be able to maximize your system's potential, Win XP home edition does not support multi-threading so youre loosing a lot of performance with it. Hope i helped you with your question.

How do I find out how much space a user is using towards their disk quota?

Weird problem on my OS X Server (Tiger) system: a user can't copy files into their share on the volume (SMB access from a WinPC) and is getting an "out of quota" error. She thinks she doesn't have that much stuff on the server, and I've set her quota to be huge. How do I find out, on the OS X Server system, how much space it thinks that username is using towards her quota?

what's the 4Gb SMB limit? A single file is over that large? We don't have that. Or it can't see any shares that have more than 4 Gb in them total? We definitely have that!

I think it's just a little over $200 if you don't have an older version to upgrade. Around $100 if you do.

Untill the administrator doesn't specify QUOTA or grant UNLIMITED TABLESPACE to user Oracle account doesn't have available space in any tablespace, event in default:

5 ORDER BY 5 desc, 1, 2, 3, 4;
Run the query multiple times and examine the delta between each occurrence of BLOCK_CHANGES. Large deltas indicate high redo generation by the session.
2) Query V$TRANSACTION. This view contains information about the amount of undo blocks and undo records accessed by the transaction (as found in the USED_UBLK and USED_UREC columns).
The query you can use is:

DUET Users

I am hoping that DUET users will be able to make their own little niche here for dealing with this product. Can anyone give me some ideas about how easy it is to set up (any tips as to any particular difficulties that you may have had in getting started or how o use the DUET to control parts of LE Express).
I have read at the DUET site and HEARD on their videos that one can control various functions of LE Express with the DUET. Can anyone give me some idea as to what functions one may control with the DUET? Are these just a few simple ones or more complex? I am wondering if pressing the knob and turning it will select functions and then turning it will than modify whatever is chosen with it? I am guessing here.
ALSO, has anyone listened to iTunes and actually heard much better sound from it in which there were a number of things that you could not hear before having the DUET? This is something that Apogee also has claimed on their site as well as in the videos.
I have so many questions and no answers!

I had the same problem. The solution was simply to rename the file 'DuetUpdateMay08.dmg' (i.e. delete the .bz2 extension). No idea what Apogee was thinking, but it's working now
