Dug a deep hole . . .

I was moving files around and accidentally deleted files from my Finder sidebar! No problem, except I paniced and started moving stuff around! Now I can't find my websites when going in from iWeb, nor are any of my photos in iPhoto.
I read too late about restoring the "puffed-out" items by a simple check.
It seems as if all of my settings have been changed - from my bookmark bar, desktop, etc.
I know my stuff is here, but I don't know how to get it back to normal.
I hope someone is able to help at this late hour . . . thank you!

You don't need to be nervous, if you have everything backed up.What about my websites? I have about five set up for my school on my MacBook. How do I activate those on the recently migrated computer?I'm not sure where you mean?
If they're in Safari, after the transfer just swap ~/Library/Safari for the old one. If they are in "Sites" then copy the contents of that folder to ~/Sites.

8 inch deep hole for ATT box in front yard

My AT&T box is about 8 inches down in my front yard causing a big hole that my 18 month old son loves to fall into. How can I get AT&T to fix this issue and bring the box up to ground level? The same problem exists across the street. I've tried calling the AT&T 1-800 number, but keep ending up in an endless loop of automated transfers and ends with a "sorry, the number could not be completed as dialed" message before I ever get a chance to speak with anyone, which is very frustrating.

Compability problem with Java and Python RSA algorithm implementation

I have client server application. Server is writtein in python, client in java. Client receives messages from server encrypted with RSA (http://stuvel.eu/rsa), and I'm unable to decrypt it. It seems that this is RSA algorithm compatibility problem. I'm using algorithm from java.security package, instatinating Cipher object like this: c = Cipher.getInstance("RSA"); . I noticed that this algorithm produces for input blocks of lengtrh <=117 ouput block of length 128. Server I guess uses the most triviall impelentation of RSA ( (1 byte is encrypted to 1 byte) So i want to make my java algorithm compatibile with this one which server uses. How to do that ? Do i have to instatinate Cipher object in different way ? Or use another library ?

Ultra 5 Solaris 9 Install Woes

OK - Like a lot of other lost souls here, I bought my hardware on eBay 'cuz it was cheap & I wanted to try some of this legendary Sun hardware. I've been rather disappointed so far, but not ready to give up yet. Here's my history: Successfully installed & ran Solaris 8 for a couple of months last year, then upgraded to Solaris 9 when it came out. Installations & upgrades were awkward & had to be repeated to get them right, but until about 2 weeks ago I had a Solaris 9 system that seemed pretty stable.
Then something happened - don't have any idea what. The system suddenly started bouncing incoming email... I could access it remotely using SSH, but not from the console. So - I figgered it just needed a re-boot.
Tried this several times with no luck. The boot process would halt after a variety of error mesasges; one was words to the effect that some file wasn't a valid ELF file, was not executable, etc. I thought I must have corrupted the kernel somehow. Oh what the heck I thought, I'll just re-install from cd.
That was 3 days ago. Since then I've been unable to get the system back up after numerous failed install attempts. Each time I run fsck it finds several errors that need correcting. I correct, re-try, but still no luck. I'm beginning to think that I've got toasted hardware (hard drive?), or that there's some corrupted files on the drive that the installer is not overwriting (Yes, I am doing a 'fresh' install each time).
Now I've learned that the IDE drive in this system is not really supported by Sun (can't format the drive in-place). I tried running some diagnostics from the format utility, but it won't allow some of these as I can't seem to umount all partitions (tried umountall, but still cannot unmount all partitions). I was able to get the analyze->read to run - it reported no problems with the hd.
I've tried a little self-help reading, too. Bought a copy of Paul Watters' book "Solaris 9 Admin, A Beginner's Guide"... it hasn't been much help & appears to suffer inaccuracies & incompleteness. So, I'm stalled out - thought I'd try posting here & requesting some advice & counsel. Is there a place for cheapskates like me to go to get help with their raggedy-assed Ultra 5's?

you?) I'm sorry - when you said c0t0d0s* I thought you meant all slices. I reckoned the important stuff was outside of the 'overarching' slice s2. Did I blow it?
Before we get into the rest of it, I got the following on the initial boot attempt following power-up:

and by the way, if you look at the "Multiple QFE Quad
Cards" in the installation board then Reynald_sw was
told the same thing from someone too :-) This may
answer any problems that you may have on the change
and goes in a bit more depth.
8) You should now have a Solaris login prompt, but if
it goes t*its up again let me know where and we will
see what can be done.No - I'm sorry, but I'm still hosed. I got to the point in the "boot -a" process where it asked for the physical name of the root device[blah, blah]. WHen I hit 'Return' I quickly got about 2-3 screens full of warnings and errors about undefined symbols, and "Cannot load module tcp", etc, etc.
Once again - I appreciate your patience. I'll understand if you want to throw in the towel... I just I hope I haven't dug a deeper hole for myself. I'm learning a lot if that helps motivate you :)

Could anyone show me how to file a complaint with Verizon Customer Service?

I would first like to state that this is my first time having an issue with Verizon Customer Service.In all my years of using their service, I had never run into someone that truly had no idea what they were talking about. I would like to file a complaint to save everyone from experiencing the frustration I am feeling and from wasting your time.
Here is the story, so that you can understand the reason why I would like to file a complaint;
My phone has always had an SD Card in addition to the phone memory because my phone memory is already tiny, less than 1 GB.I put things that cannot be put on my SD Card (my text messages, contacts, etc.).
This past week I kept on receiving air messages that my phone memory was full. I deleted most of my text messages but I still received air messages that my phone memory was "full". I therefore decided to call Verizon Wireless to see if they could help me solve my problem or at least educate me on what was taking space in my phone memory.
Well, I unfortunately had the luck of being connected with a representative named "Naima" and I told her about my phone memory problem. She said she knew how to fix my problem and instructed me to click on the "Format SD Card" button. Following her instructions blindly, I never once stopped to consider that clicking on that button would erase everything. And so ALL my pictures, ringtones, and videos were erased.
Trying to fix her mistake she dug herself into a deeper hole. Instead of admitting that she had made a mistake she claimed that my pictures, ringtones, and videos could be recovered, She had me access Backup Assistant, but my stuff was NOT saved there. I later learned that my phone's Backup Assistant can only save contacts, NOT pictures. She knew what phone I had (representatives have all the phone's info and history) yet she led me in circles and wasted my time and could not own up to her mistake.
What upsets me is the fact that she did not even KNOW that the phone memory and SD Card are 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things.And also she could not own up to her mistake, but instead wasted at least an hour of my time trying to get Backup Assistant to do something it could not.
I then attempted to file a complaint to found that Verizon makes it Virtually Impossible to file a complaint, only through MAIL! Really??

Those out of memory messages usually mean internal memory is getting full. I have no idea of your make and model of device but there are many articles via google that tell you how to transfer files from internal memory to sd card memory.
Now on the off chance your sd card is nearing its capacity you can either hook to your computer via usb and the computer will show two drive letters. One is internal memory and the other is the sd card memory. If its internal memory and your sd card is not full you can drag and drop the files to the sd card. However you can also get a card reader and then make a saved files folder on your desktop, then cut and paste any or all movable files to that new folder you just created. its really very easy.
You can also remove files from internal memory (music, photos,documents) to that folder on your desktop. You can also remove all files and photos from the sd card on a regular basis to never have that low memory problem again. I always purchase the largest sd card that is usable on my device and never save anything like music and photos to internal memory.

Constant Safari connection crashes

I'm working with a MacPro (2006) and a couple of iMacs, and one in particular, a 27" i7 with 8gb ram is suffering terribly from Safari crashes. Restart usually gets it back on line but as soon as I select a programme, it again crashes and 'm getting nowhere with it. My other computers are not similarly suffering. This particular iMac is being used for editing in FCPX and it's important for me to download an update to Toast at this time.
Getting desparate.

With apologies for the apparent - er - slip . . . but because I'm desparate and have no help so far, I trashed the info plist in Mail and now it won't even acknowlege when clicked. Dug myself deeper into the hole it seems.

Powermac or Powerbook?

Not quite sure this is the correct thread but thought I'd give it a shot...
I may soon be upgrading hardware and software. Currently using Premiere 6.0 on a G4 with 9.22 OS, along with AE 5.5 std. and Photoshop 7. I tried upgrading the G4 but that fiasco is too long to go into here.
Of course, I would love to have both the powermac G5 and powerbook G4 17" fully loaded with FCS and AE pro but then the money fairy hasn't landed on my head yet. So I'm leaning towards the powerbook with maybe a 15" but, if any of you have the time, I'd very much like to read your +'s and -"s on both of them.
I have'nt dug too deep in the forums yet and if there's one that deals with my question please direct me and I'll not pester you anymore...

I write, shoot, edit v/o, o/c videos. Short ones, long ones, government ones, U-name-it, I do it. I do most of the editing/graphics/animations at the office but, and as only a workaholic will admit, have occasion to work from home on the projects that were due 'yesterday'. Don't get me wrong, doing this kind of stuff is not work to me (unless some deadbeat won't cough up the dough). That's why I was thinking of a powerbook for its portability. I'll probably do most of the work at the office, which logically indicates the g5 but can't help thinking that the new powerbooks are a zillion times faster than what I'm using now and I already have a firewire drive so I can drag that home if need be. I got spoiled because I used to have an ibook that I used at home for stuff like that but then, someone else in the agency needed a computer and, guess where the ibook went? Along with my g4 I'm using an imac which is good for small stuff and reading email...
Anyway, much thanks for everyone's advice and input...
Next on the agenda is the learning curve from Premiere to FCP. Are the training dvd's worth it, or should I just hole up someplace for a couple of weeks with the books and a bottle of rum and the powerbook (assuming the money fairy takes a dump in my lap, of course)...

Can't access safe mode to delete System Security fake anti virus virus. HELP.

Hi, our SL500 has become infected with "System Security" fake anti virus software. We have tracked down how to remove it.

However when we get to the "reboot your computer in safe mode" (see instructions below) we can't as this is not possible.
We have tried F8...........Repeatedly . And also Run->msconfig->BOOT.INI->/SAFEBOOT . But to no avail . Actually we get a pop up stating that Windows can not find said command and have we typed it in correctly . Please could some one help us as this is driving us insane . One last thing . A computer WITHOUT a "safe mode " option, isn't that kinda of unsafe and a tad.....

Instructions for malware removal.
You will need to print out a copy of these instructions, or save them to NotePad and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure as you will be required to boot into Safe Mode where you wont have internet access.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Caution: This program is for Windows 2000, XP and Vista only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

It will automatically Neutralize any objects found.
If some objects are left un-neutralized then click the button that says Neutralize all
If it says it cannot be Neutralized then chooose The delete option when prompted.
After that is done click on the reports button at the bottom and save it to file name it Kas.
Save it somewhere convenient like your desktop and just post only the detected Virus\malware in the report it will be at the very top under Detected post those results in your next reply.
Note: This tool will self uninstall when you close it so please save the log before closing it.

Thanks for trying to help. Sadly, I followed the instructions and it rebooted to the blue screen again.
It's going to have to go to Apple for repairs now. I'm out of options.
I am wondering how much easier it would have been if I'd created a time machine restore point. I got what I deserved for failing to do that, but I'm doubtful even that would have worked in this case. It does seem to be because of that piece of widely reported malware that didn't want to leave without causing damage.
The most frustrating aspect is the safe boot. I get to the desktop but without any menu, finder or dock. It seems to be similar to the problem below...

I'm trying to make an application in Oracle Application Express and I've tried making an SQL report using the following SQL query:

I understand how to make a form on the Appointment table but given how that table contains lots of primary keys (numbers) it's not preferable for the user to have to deal with that.
Can I have some help with linking the two and making it functional?

I cannot work out what the folders in my Bookmark sidebar mean

My Bookmarks sidebar, which is where I store and work my bookmarks, is now showing, below the usual headers down to "Mozilla Firefox" and its subheads, a (yellow) folder called "Temp". This is where all the bookmarks I use regularly are listed. i don't know why it is called "Temp" as i thought that was supposed to be a name for a folder which only holds bookmarks for a few days, heaven help me if that was the case, but it clearly is not in this instance.
It also has right under it another yellow folder called "[Folder name]". This seems to have in it another bunch of bookmarks that I have opened at some stage, but certainly in some cases have deleted in recent months. I don't know what they are going there.
When I download a new bookmarks, Firefox 29 now puts it into "Unsorted Bookmarks" and you have to drag and drop it to the folder you want to use. I have tried several times to do this, resulting in the new bookmark not appearing in the folder called "Temp" which is my real bookmark folder (I do not know why it has this name). They seem to stay in "Recently Bookmarked" OK, so I don't lose them, but trying to drag and drop to the header "Bookmarks Menu" as I used to in Firefox 28, or "Temp", which seems to be the header for my real bookmarks list, either has no result, or else the bookmark appears in "[Folder Name]", but underneath all the old bookmarks in that, but slightly indented from the list called "Temp".
I don't know what the folder called "[Folder]" is doing, or if I should re-name the folder called "Temp" (which is not a temp folder), although I think I should.
Or why it is so difficult to drag and drop. Which point in the list should I drag and drop to? (I know how to Sort by Name, that is not a problem.)
I know that when I download a new bookmark, I should hit the star twice and choose a folder at that point which, if I remember to do it at once, will save me from having to drag and drop, but I still don't know why I am not making the drag and drop work properly.
My entire Firefox setup was imported from my previous (XP) computer within the last few months to my current (Windows 7) computer, but the changes which are confusing me seem to have happened with the advent of Firefox 29.
I have read the Help page before I posted this.
I do not understand the "Automatically add" button on the "Question" form, and I don't like tampering with things I have no information about in case I just dig myself into a deeper hole (which has been known to happen).

Note that "Recently Bookmarked" is a so called [[Smart Bookmarks folders|Smart Bookmark]] that shows the result of a place query in a list and isn't a real existing folder.
* Smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores bookmarks and history in Firefox.
* Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
* Bookmarks or history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.

Problems with signed JAR files in JWS/JRE6 environment.

I'm encountering a problem running our desktop application as a Java Web Start deployment in a JRE 6 environment. There were never any problems when running the same application as a JWS deployment in JRE 1.4, or 5, environments. There are also currently no problems in a JRE 6 environment when running the application as a standard desktop application.
The problem which I am having has nothing to do with launching the application. But for good measure, I verified the JNLP file with JaNeLA. A couple things we out of order, which I addressed to make JaNeLA happy, but my problem still persists. Here is my JNLP file (anonymized to protect the innocent):

The classes of our desktop product are contained within the 'acmedesktop' and 'acmeapi' packages. It requires access to the hard drive of the workstation, and therefore, all jar files included with the application are signed using the following ANT task when compiled:

Therefore, all classes, within all jar files, are signed with the same certificate (with the exception of the JavaHelp libraries, which are already signed by Sun - but the class in question attempting to be loaded here is not contained within the JavaHelp jar file anyway). So, the point being, that the exception message stating that the "signer information of the acmeapi.communication.CDocImpl class doesn't match the signer information of other classes in the same package", is simply not correct. All classes within that jar file were signed using the same certificate.
I downloaded the JRE 6 source from dev.java.net and picked through this issue with a debugger. The ClassLoader.checkCerts() method compares the certificate used to sign the current class which is attempting to be loaded, with the certificates which signed all other previously loaded classes within the same package. If they don't match, the exception above is thrown. What is causing the issue is when the checkCerts() method attempts to get the certificates which signed the currently loading class, null is returned. And obviously, comparing null, with an array of the certificates which signed the previously loaded classes, isn't going to match; therefore this exception is thrown.
The checkCerts() method gets the certificates of the currently loading class by calling the java.security.CodeSource.getCertificates() method. Tracing deeper in the debugger, the CodeSource object ultimately gets the certificates from the 'signersRef' member variable of the com.sun.deploy.cache.CachedJarFile class. signerRef is a SoftReference object and can therefore be garbage collected at some point. If it has already been garbage collected, the CachedJarFile class will attempt to retrieve it again from the loaded cache entry by calling com.sun.deploy.cache.MemoryCache.getLoadedResource().
The MemoryCache class maintains the cache entries to the jar files as MemoryCache.CachedResourceReference objects, which subclass WeakReference, and therefore these objects can be garbage collected as well. If the cache entries have also been garbage collected, this leaves the CachedJarFile class with no ability to repopulate the CachedJarFile.signerRef object. Therefore it is completely out of luck getting the certificates which signed the currently loading class, which ultimately causes the above exception.
When the com.sun.deploy.cache.Cache class attempts to retrieve a cache entry using its getCacheEntry() method, it will attempt to get the entry from the MemoryCache class, if null is returned, it will recreate the cache entry and add it back to the MemoryCache. In contrast, when the CachedJarFile class attempts to get a cache entry from the MemoryCache class, if null is returned, it just gives up.

When debugging, code execution falls within the code block with the comment stating "This should not happen...", but it is happening in my case.
On an interesting side note, using the jvisualvm.exe tool included with JDK 6, I was able to tell that it seems as though these objects are collected the first time that the JVM allocates more heap space, and then the issue will occur. If I set the initial heap size very large (using -Xms) this issue won't occur at all. But that is kind of a bad solution which I would rather not do, but it is interesting to note for the sake of troubleshooting this issue. The max heap size (-Xmx) is plenty big enough, so the issue is not that we are running out of memory here.
Does anyone have any insight as to what could be causing this? I've searched, and found a couple threads with similar problems but with no clear solutions. It is not just one workstation either, it happens everywhere I deploy the app as a Java Web Start application in a JRE 6 environment. I have been using version 1.6.0_18 on XP, but it seems to happen on any update version of 1.6. Is the fact that the CachedJarFile class doesn't attempt to reload the resource when it can't retrieve it from MemoryCache a bug? I've dug as deep as I can on this and I'm at wits end, does anybody have any ideas?

Very frustrated with lack of customer service on rebate offer

Back in August I upgraded my cable service with Comcast and became a new Verizon customer. I was informed of a rebate that paid back $50 on each smartphone purchased. Since I ordered the phones (iPhone 4) directly from the website and did not deal directcly with a salesman I had to call customer care to cash in on the offer. All was good and was told I would get Visa gift cards in 4-6 weeks. When I called last week to let them know nothing had been recieved, and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I was told I had to deal with Comcast. I explained it was through Veizon as it was related to the phones, they chuckled (have the customer rep's name and ID number and I won't post it) and told me he was not aware of that offer and nothing could be done. I asked to speak to a supervisor, he said he was a supervisor. I asked to speak to his manger, he told me that is agaist policy. I asked to leave my number and the manager call me, he told me they were too busy for that.
So for the fun of it I Goolge the rebate and guess what, first thing that pops up. When I call Verizon they tell me that offer is no longer available. So even though I met every condition listed on Verizon's own website, they won't honor the rebate because THEY had a glitch in their customer service and the cards were never sent. Been a customer for 2 months and I've already officially been *******

Audio balance greatly different in Encore CS3 after encoding 5.1 master track in Premiere Pro CS3

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice for my DVD audio problem.
I have a Premiere Pro CS3 project with a 5.1 master track that appears to behave correctly judging by the meters when I play it in PP. It also sounds reasonable (in a mixed-down fashion, I guess) on my PC system's speakers (L,R,LFE), and all rebalancing and panning seems to work well. However, once I export the master track to Encore using PP's SurCode Dolby Digital codec, the resulting audio mix is totally off. Here's what I get: both front channels play mainly out of the right front and center speakers, and the rear channels play mainly out of the left front speaker. I've tried all different settings, but I can't seem to change this. Well I've read that Encore just sends the audio mix straight through (the DVD trancode status is "Don't transcode"), but when I build the DVD and play it on both of my 5.1 surround systems, the results are just as bad as what my desktop PC speakers were hinting at. [Actually all DVDs that Encore builds are UNSUPPORTED on one of my set-top DVD players and they're both Panasonic! So first, I first have to copy the DVD using Nero and then the copy is accepted by all. That seems to have no bearing on my audio dilemma but I thought I'd mention it. I would love to know what Nero is doing right that Encore is doing wrong!)
Anyway, here's some background: I began to notice this problem with the audio balancing whenever a .wav music source is imported into PP as a stereo source. [A side issue here - I don't seem to be able to explain - or control - how one .wav file gets imported as stereo while another is imported as 5.1!] Anyway, as one would expect, since my master track is 5.1, the stereo track is automatically set up with a rebalancing tray with the puck set in the middle. The meters show that the source is stereo and the sound has been rebalanced across the master track. If I drag the puck around, the master meters behave accordingly. Then I import my video (.avi video clip) and that sound is imported as a stereo track. For that track, I drag the puck to the rear. Again, the master meters respond correctly. So far so good. But when I export to Encore, the resulting audio mix so completely wrong it can't even be explained as a 5.1-to-stereo downmix situation. The sounds that were supposed to come out of the rear channels are in front left and center (and deafening), overpowering the music that is only coming out of front right. And the rear speakers are silent unless I turn on Pro-Logic on my amplifier, which just confuses the issue. I didn't bother to check LFE as things were bad enough.
Where I DO NOT have the problem is when the audio file is imported as a 5.1 source (although it is just a stereo CD track ripped using Sony CD Architect). In that case, there is no rebalancing tray and the track meter shows only the L and R channels active, as expected. Ditto for the master track. Now if I go ahead and send the music to a stereo submix track and let that rebalance to the master, I see all channels active. But that results in the problem above after exporting to Adobe Media Encoder using SurCode and then importing the audio into Encore. If I don't remix to 5.1, the audio on the DVD is OK. But I would like to have the music come out of all speakers when there isn't a video soundtrack as there are many still pictures in the presentation.
So the question is, if I can rebalance and pan channels in PP CS3, why are the results coming out all wrong in Encore using SurCode? And how can I hear my project on DVD the same way I mixed in PP?

Rebecca of Adobe support helped me identify the root cause: project was originally set up as standard (2-channel) and although it had evolved to a 5.1 project over time, it could never grow up to be anything other than a standard audio project. After you set up the new project, the setting that controls your audio is buried in the project somewhere. Changing your project settings to set up new 5.1 audio tracks for new timelines does NOT make the project 5.1! The real audio identity attribute set at birth is not alterable OR EVEN VISIBLE (even as a grayed-out project setting) although PP will allow you to set up and mix 5.1 audio tracks at will. So you may think you're working on a 5.1 project now, but you're only fooling yourself and PP goes right along with it. Even the .ac3 files you create via export are 5.1! But dare to build your DVD in Encore and all of your timelines are transcoded back to 2.0 instantly. Resistance is futile.
A new feature in PP CS4 will allow you to view, and even CHANGE, your project's audio identify from standard to 5.1. How sweet!
Well, I've devised a way to dig out myself out of this deep hole in CS3 and it worked, but I can't promise that it will work for everyone. (This assumes you own the Dolby Digital 5.1 codec from Minnetonka.)
1. Create a new Premiere Pro project as 5.1 audio from the get-go.
2. Import your suspected 2.0 project into this new 5.1 project and click each sequence to flesh out the timeline.
3. Re-export all audio as elemental streams using Adobe Media Encoder. Make sure you export the audio component of each timeline as Dolby Digital 5.1 and exactly - and I mean EXACTLY - the same way. To deviate the audio settings for each timeline is to ask for trouble, so I recommend setting up an audio pre-set that you can just click when you need it.
4. Create a new Encore project and import all original video assets and your new replaced and, hopefully, 5.1 audio assets into it.
5. In Encore, create a separate timeline for each pair of assets (.m2v and .ac3 for example). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLACE MULTIPLE PAIRS OF ASSETS ON THE SAME TIMELINE! For some unexplained reason, the build process will transcode the audio back to 2.0, and if you continue pack new 5.1 audio assets on the same timeline, you will get an error message "an input contract violation has occurred" because you now have 2.0 and 5.1 assets on the same timeline, even though you really don't know that and didn't ask for that to happen anyway. (Thanks to Bill Hunt who mentioned his habit of keeping the asset pairs on separate timelines in another thread - that suggestion was absolutely essential to the solution here.)
6. In Encore, check to make sure that all of your original video sychs up correctly with the new, true 5.1 audio. Link the end actions of each timeline with the next timeline to play in the correct sequence. Check your project for orphan timelines and other errors. Then, before you start building menus and start getting fancy, build a DVD and make sure it plays as 5.1 on your system.
Tip #1: while you're re-exporting and replacing the audio files, don't have Encore running. I've seen it gracefully and automatically re-import the replaced file once the export is done, but I have also seen it choke with the terribly descriptive "Encore has encountered a problem" message upon discovered the asset is not available while it is being replaced. Encore then continues to mark the asset as offline.
Tip #2: when re-exporting and replacing files, always select audio and video separately. For some reason, Encore will allow you to replace an .ac3 file when you perform an elemental audio export, but when you try to combine video and audio and both files exist, Encore will prompt you to replace the video, but immediately abort with an error that it cannot replace the .ac3 file, thus forcing you to delete the .ac3 component manually before trying again.

Adobe Flashplayer not responding even after the download says the installation is complete

I have tried to go on several websites and view content - Youtube, Slacker, and some websites that I need for educational purposes. When I try to view contact or upload a song, I get a message stating that I need the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player to do so. I have been through this process several times today, but each time that I download the Adobe Flash Player, it tells me that the installation is complete; however, I am still unable to view content or listen to the songs. I have restarted my computer several times and that hasn't worked. I can see that the Flashplay is listed on my add or remove programs in the control panel, but it is not responding when I enter into these websites. I have called technical support a couple of times today with no resolution to my problem. PLEASE HELP!!!! What can I do? Thanks

Hi td, So glad that worked for you. That is always the first thing to look for as the SWO must be there and be the correct version, it is an absolute! Without that, FP will not work and you can take that to the bank:-) A lot of users get in trouble by trying every suggestion and dig a deeper hole and then it takes a lot of time and effort to recover.
The process of a successful uninstall of the old FP and the install of the latest version, if followed is really easy. Most problems occur because some steps aren't followed.
Adobe has the next FP update in Beta now, when it will come out I don't know, but post back if you like if you have any questions at that time. Preventive action is always easier than the cure, believe me. But with yours it appears you did a
good job of installing the FP update.
