Hi
I've asked the question before but got nowhere, it's not
strictly a dw
question but I client wants to run an IVP video from his web
site.
Has anyone used or setup IVP files? they seem to originate
from immervision
a canadian company but thier level of support is zero.
Problem is I can play the file locally so the player is
clearly embeded in
the three files I have been given. But when I access it over
the web it
doesn't play.

8 inch deep hole for ATT box in front yard

My AT&T box is about 8 inches down in my front yard causing a big hole that my 18 month old son loves to fall into. How can I get AT&T to fix this issue and bring the box up to ground level? The same problem exists across the street. I've tried calling the AT&T 1-800 number, but keep ending up in an endless loop of automated transfers and ends with a "sorry, the number could not be completed as dialed" message before I ever get a chance to speak with anyone, which is very frustrating.

Sudo has a big security hole in 10.5.2

I noticed that Leopard does NOT require a password when invoking something under sudo if you are in the /etc/sudoers file. This is different than any other *nix I have ever seen. Even Tiger required a password each time sudo was invoked. This opens a pretty big hole in Leopard. All someone has to do is get into your system as a sudoer and all bets are off.

Not on any Leopard that I have seen. A user in the sudoers file must enter his password to use sudo. That 's how it has always been in all version of OS X. If that's not the case on your Mac then something is seriously broken.

Dug a deep hole . . .

I was moving files around and accidentally deleted files from my Finder sidebar! No problem, except I paniced and started moving stuff around! Now I can't find my websites when going in from iWeb, nor are any of my photos in iPhoto.
I read too late about restoring the "puffed-out" items by a simple check.
It seems as if all of my settings have been changed - from my bookmark bar, desktop, etc.
I know my stuff is here, but I don't know how to get it back to normal.
I hope someone is able to help at this late hour . . . thank you!

If they're in Safari, after the transfer just swap ~/Library/Safari for the old one. If they are in "Sites" then copy the contents of that folder to ~/Sites.

Big Security Hole - Seesion ID Anonyous User Registration

This is a serious security vulnerability with IdM Anonymous Registration. When a new user is trying to register through IdM on the anonymous user registration, the session id generated has a pattern which can be easily hijacked by attackers to retrieve the data entered in the forms.

Usually this refers to the workflow or workitem id. I think there is no security issue here. It is a standard practice that you invoke a workflow for anonymous registration or any anonymous process. Then in the workflow you have to implement approvals and validations so that no weird user gets an account. Apart from that this should have an entry in AnonymousUserTasks configuration. Any workflow in this configuration file should have strong validations and approvals implemented.

Performance of operations in large PSD

Has anyone noticed rapid deterioration of performance in reading text layer content (i.e. accessing 'artLayer.textItem.contents')? I mean it's a generic thing that as PSD grows, operations on that become slower, but text layer content seems to go down really badly. In a almost empty PSD operation takes ~20ms, but in a medium/large PSD (100mb / 80 layers) it takes 2700ms! It's not totally obvious why slows down so much as other document operations (e.g. find right layer in doc) don't slow so much.
So not expecting solution, but would like to hear if you have any performance tips/tricks/best practices to share

Started cleaning the relevant code and noticed I had the the layer selection (loop through layerSet.artLayers) in the measurement and turns our that was the culprit and not the artLayer.textItem.contents! Makes more sense (i.e. more layers means slower), but is worrysome as it's really pervasive and hard to get rid of. Also it's a bit alarming that it seems to be based on doc size, not group size. This was group with 6 layers, no children and looping through them like below takes 2700ms

Now dug deeper and turns out there are lots of things to improve
using artLayer.getByName() is much faster and takes only 90ms. Can't use it for everything, but definitely worth optimization to differentiate the cases!
strangely using group.layers and adding "if layer.typename == "ArtLayer" only takes 1300ms so worthy optimization
storing artLayers.length in local variable speeds it further to 900ms so worth doing
storing group.artLayers as local variable had no major change
iterating as "for (var layer in group.artLayers) {}" does not seem to work
No difference between 32/64bit CC 2012 in Windows
CC2014 seems a bit slower (~20%)
Mac seems a bit faster (~20%) than Windows
I do a lot of finding layers with certain prefix/regex which looks like a big performance hole. Never thought this would be so big and was wondering if you could do this in AM code?

Flash problem? (4S)

Hey everyone. When I take a picture with the flash on, the shutter closes a little slowly and it kinda lags. When the flash is off, no such problem occurs. PS: when I'm close to the object the photo of which I'm taking (I mean when I take a photo in a close angle), the shutter works perfectly. When I enclose the flash with my hands (I mean putting my hand around the flash so that it'll be like in a deep hole, like using a very thick case in which flash stays deep in the camera hole of the case) it doesn't lag either. But when the object (that I'm taking the photo of) is far, then the shutter lags. That is not a coincidence because I tested it for many times.
Actually this is not such a big deal, it lags for only like a second, but I didn't have this problem before (or maybe I did, but I didn't realize it) so it's kinda annoying. What do I do? I tried rebooting and restoring, it's still the same, nothing changed. Is this a problem or does everybody have that?
By the way, talking of rebooting, they say "Press the home and lock button, wait until the apple appears, it'll ask you to "slide to turn off" before the apple sign, don't slide." but I don't see any "slide to turn off" when I reboot my iPhone. I press the home and lock button and wait until the apple sign appears. I'm pretty sure I was asked if I want to slide to turn off before the apple appeared while rebooting on my old 4S, but now there's no such option on my new 4S.
(PS: My old 4S had a hardware issue so I got it replaced, they gave me the phone that I'm using right now, the one that I'm writing about, the one with the possible flash and rebooting issue)
So basically I want you (especially 4S users) to tell me if you have these 2 issues too, if they're normal.

A friend of my dad's is a photographer. He said the shutter is okay, it is supposed to work slower while taking a photo at a far distance than taking a photo close and focused to the object, which is the way my shutter works.
Some people said it's normal, that the 4S's cam works that way (iPhone 4 cam doesn't do that) and others, including you, said it's not normal. I'm so confused.
We don't have Apple Stores in my country.
(I don't have another 4S, I can't compare the camera so I'm asking more 4S users to reply. :/)

Now, there are so many "bugs" for the EFI/UEFI based Windows 8.1 64 bit operation of DW CC, that it is effectively inoperable for certain tasks, and for some old and valued Adobe customers, it is useless today. "Especially where web design is mission critical." Today. When you use it on new hardware, DW will crash and/or damage your software system's data. "The entire Dreamweaver Team at Adobe is doing everything they can", to pick up and move on. They have NOT given up. Everyone using the product is (naturally) sending usage data to Adobe. The Team is aware of everything that is going wrong.
Wherein, "All our efforts are going into the new 64-bit version."... Presently, bugs are devouring the carcass of 32 bit Dreamweaver CC, as far as the new EFI 64 Windows 8 machines are concerned. But some things still work. Most importantly, Adobe is paying professional programmers to fix what's wrong, and build something that works. Post threads like Hang/Freeze (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1249157) are entirely discouraging. But realistic. In Vancouver, Dreamweaver night school classes would be an endangered species. If not extinct.
However, in addition to Sublime http://www.sublimetext.com (versioning and code block juggling), Oracle has http://www.netbeans.org (fava development) which comes right from the horse's proverbial mouth, for free! A piece of the functionality... Gone are the days of a single muti-faceted tool. But Adobe does PROMISE functionality in workflow that is distinguishing. The old DW will not survive, it is leaving us, along with new Web Matrix and SQL Sharepoint. Adobe is building something new, more secure, more versatile. DW continues to house some of that new direction. Even if we end users can't see it there, we can feel it. So some of us hang on with hope in our hearts.
Sure DW's going to smash the OS. But let's get those files published in a 100% effective FTP environment offered by DW CC. We can have a cup of coffee after, while Windows reinstalls. For those not aware, the new EFI machines can boot in under 1 second and install Windows 8.1 in 5 minutes. DW install is slowed by a dl and takes an horrendous 20 minutes, but an Adobe Team is working on that too (it all comes down to encryption).
Let's recall as we sip, Microsoft's flagship editor Expression Web is falling out of support next month, May 2014. With no replacement in sight. Last month, EW's CSS3 preview became like Adobe's Live Java... NOT! Let's get real. Concerned words from W3C over rapid change, now Wiki dust and the thrill forgotten for most developers. Devicing is the big thing today, which even Orable hasn't got a firm grip on. Each manufacturer is going open source with its own new App language. Let's look over a rash of alternatives that are no longer toys. Let's fill up our tool boxes with loads of goodies, Okay! Don't forget CREATIVE CLOUD! HTTPS://CREATIVE.ADOBE.COM/PRODUCTS
DW is no longer a leading editor. DW, like EW, is just another tool for the toolbox. Each of us, on our own machines, has to decide what is worthy of a setup, each time installs roll around... But my PC is hardwared to the non-wifi printer and to the wifi modem. Don't forget, with my wife gone, there's no cell phone here! Wife's Mac does wifi, and it's wifi'd to the web, which is hardwired (through my PC, remember) to the non-wifi printer, which is off, but plugged in, its teeny node light blinkering with the Mac, BESIDE THE WIRELESS LANDLINE UNITS THAT BLINK WHEN THEY ARE IN USE. Unplug printer, or power off sleeping Mac, problem solved. Cell in Asia and my Net, both start working again. Other EASY!!! fix, move the cell away from the landline in Asia. See, easy fix. We all understand, right?

When will we see Iphone 4 at Best Buy?

I swear I check my local store and the site multiple times every single week, and every week same thing out of stock. Then if you ask the question, the BB people have no idea, it is like some big deep dark secret. I just want to order one of these I do not care if I pre-order until replenishment (can't do that as well). I would normally just get them at Apple who has them in stock, but got these BB gift cards burning a hole in my pocket...guess next time will not ask for BB gift cards from my credit card company when I cannot even use them.
Anyhow, what I care about is just getting notified they are in stock, twitter feed, email notification anything, heck even just place a standing order....but having to constantly call them or check online is ridiculous. Anyone know something I do not?

Coming from me, a VERY heavy Droid user. I can understand their cap at 2GB. I am a VERY heavy user. Email, Youtube, web browsing, weather, you name it, I do it on my phone, and I have yet to even get to 1GB let alone 2GB. *shrug* For what it's worth, if you can actually hit 2GB on your phone, my hat's off to you.

I ordered an Open Box NS-50D550N and specifically chose to pay a bit extra for the "Certified - Excellent" version of the product. It was my understanding this means a Geek Squad member has reviewed the TV, ensured everything works, and ensured all accessories are included in the box per this page: http://www.geeksquad.com/certified-openbox.aspx. Very excited for a big screen TV!

I received the TV and unfortunately no screws were included for the stand, no screws were included for wall hanging (New version of this product includes them), and there was a big puncture hole that went through both boxes, through the packing foam, and hit the screen. I called the 888 number and was told by a representative that "Unfortunately open box items are sold as open box due to the fact that they may be missing parts and accessories". When I pointed out that the item I purchased was "Certified - Excellent" and that I purposely chose this version because I wanted to avoid these problems, I was told the only thing I could do was return the TV for a refund.
That would have been fine if I didn't want this TV, but I did and unfortunately there were no other open box versions of this TV available. I was basically being told "tough luck there's nothing we can do but give you your money back". When I pointed out that I wanted a TV, not my money back, and that surely there's something they can do I felt like I was continuing to hit a brick wall. "No there's nothing we can do".
I then noticed that this TV was on sale "new" for $399. I pointed this out and said could I get a credit for the difference since I did not receive a "certified excellent" version of this TV (it did include the "certified" tape all over the box though!). I was told to hold on, then when they came back they said they issued me a $30 gift card.
"Great!" I thought. But, unfortunately this card has to come in the mail, I could not get the number over the phone or be issued an e-gift card, so I could not use it to immediately discount the cost of a new TV. Sort of worthless as I would miss the sale! When I pointed this out I was again told there was nothing they could do.
I was getting ticked off at this point because I felt like I am really trying to give Best Buy my money and they just don't want to work with me at all! I asked to speak to a supervisor. "Emily the supervisor" came on the line. I explained my situation and she seemed to understand! I felt like I was getting somewhere finally! She said she would issue an immediate $32 credit to my credit card in order to offset the cost of the Open Box I purchased ($367) with a new version of this TV ($399). I could then return the Open Box for a full refund and enjoy my new TV at the cost of the "Geek Squad Certified Open Box" I was supposed to have gotten.
Awesome! I was overjoyed with the news and thanked her for the support. I told her I wanted UPS to pick it up as we live a bit far from a store and it would just be more convenient. She told me that would be no problem, that she issued a refund and to wait 24 hours for my paperwork to come in my email.

UPS shows up with the label. Unfortunately I had not received any RMA information in my email though. I called the 888 number again and I was told to not give the TV to UPS until I receive my RMA information in my email. Day after that (1/15) - UPS shows up, no RMA info in my email. Called again and told to not give it to them.
In the mean time I had ordered my new TV for local pickup the night I spoke with emily (1/13) and had my wife swing by and get the box. I get home and unfortunately she didn't notice the huge puncture mark on the front of the box. I packed the TV back up and took it back to the store to swap it out with one that wasn't skewered by a fork lift. Got that guy back home and decided I would set him up tomorrow.

I give the 888 number a call again and tell them I still have not received any RMA information but that UPS continues to try to pick the TV up and bring their own tag. The representative tells me I might have better luck just taking the TV back to the store to return it there.
So, I decide to do that. First though, let's check out my new TV! I get it out of the box, plug it in, and the screen is completely shatered. Frustration!!! I pack my 2nd new TV up and the Open Box up and take it to the store that night. I wait in line, talk to the rep at customer service and tell her I need to return this open box and swap out this new TV for a third new TV.
The TV manager wants to see the screens for both before processing the return and exchange. I tell him that's fine no big deal. They pull the open box TV out and plug it in, and much to my surprise that screen is shattered too, exactly where the hole was in the box! So not only was my "Certified - Excellent" TV missing parts, but was also broken. Ugh! He plugs my 2nd new TV in and also verifies that screen was shattered.
The customer service rep starts with the return for the Open Box. Types in the order information, and the system wants to give me a refund for $367, the cost of my open box, minus the $32 I was already credited. I explain to her that "Emily the supervisor" credited me an extra $32 to make up for the price difference between the open box and the new TV. She goes and gets the manager, and he explains to me that the system will not allow him to give me the full refund and I need to contact the 888 number to get it straightened out. More frustration!!!
I call up the 888 number, talk to several people, and finally land with a supervisor in the Home Theatre department. She explains to me that what Emily told me is wrong, she had no authority to do that, it was impossible for me to get an extra $32 on my credit card, and a refund for the price of the open box minus the $32 was the best they could do in her department. I speak with that representative, and she tells me I need to send it back to bestbuy.com through UPS. I explain to her the problems I have been having with receiving the RMA information in my email. She tells me (paraphrased) "Oh no! When you have UPS pick up you won't get an extra emails from us They bring the tag and thats all you need!" ........
3 days of phone calls, several different reps, and she's the first one to tell me I won't be getting an extra email. Extreme frustration!!!!
I then explain to her the issues with the extra $32 credit. She looks and tells me as best as she can tell if I return the TV to them I will get my full refund for $367 + tax and be allowed to keep my extra $32 credit. I tell her great, lets get this return going and she tells me UPS will be out to my house tomorrow (1/16).
I then get my third new TV and the open box back on the dolly and back in my car.
1 hour and 20 minutes on the phone with 1-888-BEST-BUY. 2 and a half hours in the store.

I've plugged my new TV in today and everything looks great finally! My concern is, at this point, I have no idea what I am getting back on my card when you guys finally receive my open box TV. I can tell you I want what was promised to me though, a full refund plus I be allowed to keep the $32 already credited back.
If this is not standard procedure, I feel like the ~3 hours I have spent talking to customer service reps, plus the 2.5 hours I spent in the store last night, and the 4 TV's I have hauled around the house and the car allows me to expect the $32.
It's more the principle of the matter at this point.

Compability problem with Java and Python RSA algorithm implementation

I have client server application. Server is writtein in python, client in java. Client receives messages from server encrypted with RSA (http://stuvel.eu/rsa), and I'm unable to decrypt it. It seems that this is RSA algorithm compatibility problem. I'm using algorithm from java.security package, instatinating Cipher object like this: c = Cipher.getInstance("RSA"); . I noticed that this algorithm produces for input blocks of lengtrh <=117 ouput block of length 128. Server I guess uses the most triviall impelentation of RSA ( (1 byte is encrypted to 1 byte) So i want to make my java algorithm compatibile with this one which server uses. How to do that ? Do i have to instatinate Cipher object in different way ? Or use another library ?

Could anyone show me how to file a complaint with Verizon Customer Service?

I would first like to state that this is my first time having an issue with Verizon Customer Service.In all my years of using their service, I had never run into someone that truly had no idea what they were talking about. I would like to file a complaint to save everyone from experiencing the frustration I am feeling and from wasting your time.
Here is the story, so that you can understand the reason why I would like to file a complaint;
My phone has always had an SD Card in addition to the phone memory because my phone memory is already tiny, less than 1 GB.I put things that cannot be put on my SD Card (my text messages, contacts, etc.).
This past week I kept on receiving air messages that my phone memory was full. I deleted most of my text messages but I still received air messages that my phone memory was "full". I therefore decided to call Verizon Wireless to see if they could help me solve my problem or at least educate me on what was taking space in my phone memory.
Well, I unfortunately had the luck of being connected with a representative named "Naima" and I told her about my phone memory problem. She said she knew how to fix my problem and instructed me to click on the "Format SD Card" button. Following her instructions blindly, I never once stopped to consider that clicking on that button would erase everything. And so ALL my pictures, ringtones, and videos were erased.
Trying to fix her mistake she dug herself into a deeper hole. Instead of admitting that she had made a mistake she claimed that my pictures, ringtones, and videos could be recovered, She had me access Backup Assistant, but my stuff was NOT saved there. I later learned that my phone's Backup Assistant can only save contacts, NOT pictures. She knew what phone I had (representatives have all the phone's info and history) yet she led me in circles and wasted my time and could not own up to her mistake.
What upsets me is the fact that she did not even KNOW that the phone memory and SD Card are 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things.And also she could not own up to her mistake, but instead wasted at least an hour of my time trying to get Backup Assistant to do something it could not.
I then attempted to file a complaint to found that Verizon makes it Virtually Impossible to file a complaint, only through MAIL! Really??

Those out of memory messages usually mean internal memory is getting full. I have no idea of your make and model of device but there are many articles via google that tell you how to transfer files from internal memory to sd card memory.
Now on the off chance your sd card is nearing its capacity you can either hook to your computer via usb and the computer will show two drive letters. One is internal memory and the other is the sd card memory. If its internal memory and your sd card is not full you can drag and drop the files to the sd card. However you can also get a card reader and then make a saved files folder on your desktop, then cut and paste any or all movable files to that new folder you just created. its really very easy.
You can also remove files from internal memory (music, photos,documents) to that folder on your desktop. You can also remove all files and photos from the sd card on a regular basis to never have that low memory problem again. I always purchase the largest sd card that is usable on my device and never save anything like music and photos to internal memory.

Can't access safe mode to delete System Security fake anti virus virus. HELP.

Hi, our SL500 has become infected with "System Security" fake anti virus software. We have tracked down how to remove it.

However when we get to the "reboot your computer in safe mode" (see instructions below) we can't as this is not possible.
We have tried F8...........Repeatedly . And also Run->msconfig->BOOT.INI->/SAFEBOOT . But to no avail . Actually we get a pop up stating that Windows can not find said command and have we typed it in correctly . Please could some one help us as this is driving us insane . One last thing . A computer WITHOUT a "safe mode " option, isn't that kinda of unsafe and a tad.....

You will need to print out a copy of these instructions, or save them to NotePad and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure as you will be required to boot into Safe Mode where you wont have internet access.

After that click on Security level then choose Customize then click on the tab that says Heuristic Analyzer then choose Enable Deep rootkit search then choose ok.
Then choose OK again then you are back to the main screen.
Then click on Scan at the to right hand Corner.
It will automatically Neutralize any objects found.
If some objects are left un-neutralized then click the button that says Neutralize all
If it says it cannot be Neutralized then chooose The delete option when prompted.
After that is done click on the reports button at the bottom and save it to file name it Kas.
Save it somewhere convenient like your desktop and just post only the detected Virus\malware in the report it will be at the very top under Detected post those results in your next reply.
Note: This tool will self uninstall when you close it so please save the log before closing it.

Thanks for trying to help. Sadly, I followed the instructions and it rebooted to the blue screen again.
It's going to have to go to Apple for repairs now. I'm out of options.
I am wondering how much easier it would have been if I'd created a time machine restore point. I got what I deserved for failing to do that, but I'm doubtful even that would have worked in this case. It does seem to be because of that piece of widely reported malware that didn't want to leave without causing damage.
The most frustrating aspect is the safe boot. I get to the desktop but without any menu, finder or dock. It seems to be similar to the problem below...

Display image in Servlet

Hi everyone,
I have a servlet and I would like to display an image on it, the image is already saved in the server in a folder. My current solution is to save the image to the client machine first then display. I feel it is not a good way.
Do we have any other ways to do it ?

This is technically impossible without asking permissions and knowing where the client have chosen to store it. Something says me that you're running the server as well as the client at the same PC in your development environment and that you're expecting that you can also write to client's file system in the real world, while the server is actually located at the another end of the network. Well, this is actually not true, that would be a big security hole, a server which unaskingly write files to the client's file system.
Anyway, you can also just output <img src> pointing to another servlet which on it's turn streams the images to the client. Here is a good example:

I understand how to make a form on the Appointment table but given how that table contains lots of primary keys (numbers) it's not preferable for the user to have to deal with that.
Can I have some help with linking the two and making it functional?
