Duplicating pages in Acrobat

Working with Acrobat documents, from time to time I would like to be able to duplicate page(s).  There doesn't seem to be a feature for this.
I would like to request that it be added to a list of feature inclusions, thanks.

Open the Pages panel, select the page(s) you want to duplicate, hold down Ctrl and then drag and drop them in the location you want to have the duplicates.

  • Duplicating pages in Acrobat X Pro

I downloaded a PDF (employment application) and was filling it in with Acrobat.  I duplicated the page titled "Employment History" so I could add more items.  I saved the file, but when I reopened it later, found that both "Employment History" pages had identical information.  They're essentially clones of each other, and whatever I enter on one, enters on the other.
How can I duplicate a page so that I can enter unique information on each?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

If two form fields have the same name, they are for all purposes the same field; what you type in one, appears in the other. The only way to fix this is to give the fields different names.  If the form is to be submitted electronically you are stuck with a shorter history, since their automated system is likely to only look for the names they started with.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Message "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display page correctly.

    Hi everyone,
I posted this in September: "Over the past week, I have received pdfs from 2 different graphic design contractors that do not open correctly in Acrobat 9 Pro. There is an error in the document and when I scroll to the page where the error is, I get: "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person hwo created the PDF document to correct the problem." I did this, and the contractor remade the pdf 3 times, and I still couldn't open it. This contractor is already using CS5. For the problem today, I haven't asked for it to be remade yet--decided to see if I could find out if anyone else is having the same problem. The second contractor is using CS4. The only thing that I have done differently at my end over the past week is upgrade CS4 to CS5. I already had Acrobat Pro 9 so I didn't update it when I updated my CS5 products. Should I have upgraded Acrobat 9 anyway? Somehow, it doesn't feel right that this is the problem. Any info on this would be appreciated."
I got one response from that posting, suggesting that the pdf was corrupted over email. That wasn't the problem.
What I didn't say above is that whenever I got an error message upon opening the pdf and clicked OK, I got another message: "Insufficient data for an image." I found that one or all of the images in the pdf were missing. Upon further investigation, the contractor and I found that sometimes the error message pointed to a specific font used--that being a Helvetica Bold font. Once we substituted it with a Helvetica Neue LT Std Adobe Opentype font, we no longer had an issue.
However, the problem rose it's ugly head today--what, 6 months later! I'm talking about 2 different pdfs this time.
For PDF#1, I got this error message about the font: "Cannot extract the embedded font 'JNAGNS+HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bd'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."  When I click OK, I get another: "Insufficient data for an image." The images don't show up in the pdf. What I don't understand about this pdf is that this is one of those that was fixed in September. The only changes made in the document was to paragraph text--none to the text in the images. When I opened the revised pdf today, I am getting the same message again. This makes no sense.
I returned to my September blog to see if any further advice had been posted, but nada--not even anything from Adobe about it. I goggled until I found where someone suggested running a "Report PDF syntax issues" analysis in Preflight. I did that and even though the analysis showed the pdf passed, I checked the fonts in the list and saw that the one pointed to in the error message showed that a long list of glyphs were missing on both pages of the pdf. I have asked my contractor to replace her font with a new one, in case it has gotten corrupted. Haven't a new pdf to open yet.
Then when I opened PDF#2, I got the message: "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person hwo created the PDF document to correct the problem." When I ran the "Report PDF syntax issues" analysis in Preflight, I found got this warning: "Invalid operand(s) for operator (1 match on 1 page)". I clicked through and under "Page Description Errors/Invalid operand(s) for operator", it identifies Operator Name, Stream State, Operators Read, and Traversal Path. Under "Trigger Values" is says "Invalid operand(s) for operator: is true". None of this means a thing to me so I can't figure out what the problem is.
Let me say this: Both the contractor and I are using CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9, on Lion. If it helps, the contractor also sent one of the problem pdfs back in September to my boss who is running Acrobat Pro 9 on Windows 7 and she got the same messages.
Does anyone out there have a suggestion for us? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks to all for posting suggestions. As it turned out, the contractor who was having a problem reinstalled Acrobat 9. She works from home and is emailing the pdfs to me. Things were running smoothly until this past week, when the problem started again. Whenever I get a pdf that won't open properly or print, I asked her to zip it and it is no longer a problem. Last week, I had the same problem start with a contractor in Florida and she also zips the pdf when there is a problem. Now I am thinking the problem might be at my end. I wonder if something is happening to them when they come through our firewall at work. I asked IT about it before but they didn't have a clue what the problem might be. Right now, zipping is the answer...who knows how long that will continue to work.

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Numbering pages in acrobat 5.0.5

Can I number the document pages in acrobat 5.0.5? I see where the thumbnails can be numbered, but what I want to do is, for example, automatically insert page numbers in the printed document that is 100 pages long. It appears that in version 8 this is done in a header and footer option, but I don't see those options in 5.0.

Here is a copy of a post on the topic from several years back. The submit name is on it to give credit. Bill

    15. How can I create Page Numbers that print out on my PDFs?
This suggestion originally posted by Mycroft in the Acrobat Windows Forum, Feb 5, 2001
"All the clicking is in setting up the button file, so once this is made, creating the numbers only takes a few seconds."
    Creating Page Numbers:
"This method will allow for different placement of the page numbers. It will allow for center placement, or RightHand for simplex printing or, for Duplex, will put the numbers on the outside corners away from the binding. Also you can specify the start page number if required.
"FIRST STAGE: Create a two page blank PDF. Create a Combo Box called 'Position' with three Items: 'Center', 'Right' and 'Outside'. Use the same names for the Export Values. Now make a text field called 'Start' and put a '1' in it. This will be for the starting page number, usually 1. (Make the field wide enough, however, for 3 digits.) You could put a text field next to it, (any name) containing 'Starting Page' as a prompt. Now make a Button. Give it any name you like, e.g., 'Create'. The action JavaScript for the 'Create' Button is at the end of this message.
"Now on the second page, put three fields on the bottom (or top) of the page where you want your page numbers to appear on the final document and format them as required; i.e., Field Size, Font, Font size, Border, etc. Call these Fields: 'Numbx.L', 'Numbx.C', 'Numbx.R'. (Place them Left, Center and Right.)
"Now put the second page in view. Click Menu: Tools, Forms, Page Templates. Type in the name: 'Numbers' and click 'Add', and then 'Yes' to confirm. Click the 'Eye' icon to turn it off and click 'Close' and the page will have disappeared and you should be now looking at the 'Create' Button page. Save this single page PDF with any name like CreatePageNumbers.PDF and make it a read-only file to avoid overwriting it. Now just use this file and the second stage to pagenumber your PDFs. Note: If, in the future, you want to edit or reposition the number fields, click the 'Eye' icon in the Template menu to unhide them.
"SECOND STAGE: Make a copy of any document that needs page numbers! If this process goes wrong it could be irreparable, so have a backup. Open the single page CreatePageNumbers.PDF. Click the combo box and set the required position for the page numbers. Change the start page number, if not '1'. Now when you click the 'Create' Button you will be asked for the file to insert. Choose the file that needs numbering and insert it 'After' this single page. When you click to open the file, the page numbers will be put into the document, and you will get a prompt to delete the first page with the button. Click 'OK' to delete. Now save the numbered file with a NEW name."

    x.display=display.hidden

  • File Manager Not Showing Duplicated Page(s)?

    Hi all,
I'm using ICE to create "landing pages" for my client's site. I have set up a 'site' for each landing page in the ICE 'file manager'. In addition, each landing page has its own directory on the server, in which the index.htm and associated image files are contained.
My first question is, if I duplicate one of these landing pages using the 'Duplicate Page" button, how do I get to it when I log back into the ICE file manager by clicking the 'Manage Sites' button? The duplicated page doesn't show up there.
In other words, I'll be making pages that share some of the same links as the 'regular site' does, but are 'hidden'. That is, they have a specific URL that you can only get to in a browser if you know the exact URL.
I don't see a 'listing' of all the pages I can edit if I click on a URL in the Manage Sites/file manager. If I click on a Website URL link, the 'home' page (index.htm) opens, without any apparent way to navigate to the duplicated page.
Am I making any sense? Anyway, thanks in advance for your help. ICE is an awesome service you are providing.
    Regards,
    Greg

    Hello Greg,
I'm very sorry for the delayed response. I don't know how your message was overlooked.
Your question make sense. Without a link from the index page to the new duplicated "hidden" page, your users will have to navigate directly to the page, then use Ctrl/Cmd+E  to enter the editing environment.
That is, they have a specific URL that you can only get to in a browser if you know the exact URL.
What you've described here, using the exact url, is how editors/publishers would have to access the page to edit it.
    Best regards,
    Corey

  • My changes to a duplicated page are not syncing up in the Creative Cloud. How can I fix this?

I'm using Adobe Proto on an iPad. I created one page and successfully viewed it in the Creative Cloud. Then I duplicated that 1st page so I could work on the next page in that project. I made some changes to the 2nd page and then synced the project with the Creative Cloud again.
Once I try to view the 2nd page in the Creative Cloud, it's still an exact copy of the 1st page. In other words, my changes on the 2nd page don't show up. I've tried synching the project many times and I get the same result. Tried opening the project from another browser, same result.
My changes to a duplicated page are not syncing up in the Creative Cloud. How can I fix this?
    Thank you.

Yes, I'm 99% certain the project is being synced. If I duplicate more than the one page so that I end up with more than 2 pages, I still see every single page that I duplicated and made changes as the initial version of the page.
I duplicated that 1st page again so that I have 3 pages. I made changes to the 3rd one and I'm still not seeing those changes when I look at the page in Creative Cloud. I see the new, 3rd page, so that should mean the project is being synced, correct?

  • How do I change the order of pages in Acrobat?

Does anyone know how to reorder the pages in Acrobat?

[moving to Creating, Editing & Exporting PDFs forum]
    Hi Pamela,
You can re-order the pages in a PDF via the Thumbnail pane in Acrobat (Standard or Pro).  Simply open this from the left-hand side, then drag-and-drop individual pages or selections of pages as you desire.
Adobe Reader does not have this ability.

  • How to edit a web page in Acrobat 9???

    Hello,
I would like to create a PDF from my website, but do not like the way the web page breaks up when I download it into Acrobat Pro 9. I don't want to change the way the page looks online, just the way it will print out if a client downloads the PDF. Acrobat doesn't seem to allow me to go into the page source to add breaks, or have a command for adding page breaks,  to even out the spacing so that it prints the way I want. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Rich

Sorry but that suggestion doesn't help.I want to add a page break in the web page, in Acrobat,  without having to go in and redesign each page in notepad, rewriting  the html code , so that my scrolling webpage has a page break where I choose as it goes from one page to the next. I don't want it to print a full page of text on the 1st page as that breaks up information I want to keep grouped together. Here;'s the site: http://www.iditarodtours.com/iditarod.htm I want to keep each tour itinerary seperate and together.
    Thanks

  • Can I change the order or rotate pages in acrobat reader?

This may be a silly question... I actually own & use Pro, so I don't use Reader. But my grandmother has the reader and wants to know if she can change the order of pages (and rotate pages) in acrobat reader. Or does she need to buy acrobat standard?
    Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, she can't with just the free Reader. But she can ask you to do it for her...

  • Cannot delete pages in Acrobat 9 Standard

We have several new computers we just installed and 7 new acrobat 9 standard discs with serial numbers.  Installation went fine.  We can create PDFs but when we try to edit, we cannot delete pages.  Online help shows how to delete pages in Acrobat 9 Standard, but the Delete option is not available on the menus.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 9 Standard on one computer to see if a new install would fix the problem, but it did not.  Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

Please use the camera icon for uploading screen captures or other pictures, then we do not have to wait for the file to be approved. To try to help a bit let us get a bit more information. OS? Any plugins for Acrobat installed?  Try this on a pdf that you create. Make sure no security is set for the pdf file.

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • Batch Process crop page 2 - Acrobat Pro 9 crashes

Hi am trying to set up a Batch Sequence to crop 4 pages. (The crop for each page is different).
I can set up the first Command in the sequence to crop page 1 only. Then when I try to set up the next Command to crop page 2 Acrobat quits!
Any ideas or solutions would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. As soon as I type in a number in the first box of the page range the application quits. Good news though. If you have Acrobat 8 it appears to work okay. It also appears possible to copy the sequence from v8 and use it in v9. You just have to track down the "Sequences" folders for each version and copy the v8 sequence into the v9 folder. The folders are in the user Library folder, buried a few layers deep.
If v9 is all you have though, I think this workaround might do what you need. Since Acrobat doesn't remove any of the data when you crop and since you should be able to change the second number in the page range without the app quitting, you can try this:
    • Have your first command crop pages 1-4 using the margins you want for page 4
    • Have your second command crop pages 1-3 using the margins you want for page 3
    • Have your third command crop pages 1-2 using the margins you want for page 2
    • Have your fourth command crop pages 1-1 using the margins you want for page 1
That should leave each page with the correct crop. Just remember not to try changing the first number in the page range.

  • Is there a way to flatten pages in Acrobat XI

Is there a way to Flatten pages in Acrobat Standard XI.  In Standard 9 I used a script called flatten.js and it worked fine.  I read it will not work with XI. Any alternatives?

    Gilad,
Thanks for the reply, but I still can't seem to get this to work. Let me expand on what I was doing previously and maybe you can tell me what I am doing wrong now. Previously in Adobe Pro X when we had documents that we needed to sent to a client, we ran the Flatten Form Fields and Comments action script. This worked wonderfully until we upgraded to XI, now it appears to be broken as we can still edit the text using the "Content Editing" option from Tools even though it was suppose to be Flattened.
I have tried many other options: Flatten Comments and Annontations action script, another JS script that I found for Flattening (but it was old from 2008), and also tried doing the Javascript Debugger method and using the this.flattenPages(); command which returneds undefined when I press Ctrl + Enter. All of these the result in that I can continue to edit the text after the script/command is ran.
Am I missing something on how to lock down the PDFs now in XI or maybe I have a setting wrong that is blocking Javascript? I am hoping I am just making a mistake somewhere and the origional functionality we used in X is not gone.
Thank you for your time regarding this matter.
