Numbering pages in acrobat 5.0.5

Question

Can I number the document pages in acrobat 5.0.5? I see where the thumbnails can be numbered, but what I want to do is, for example, automatically insert page numbers in the printed document that is 100 pages long. It appears that in version 8 this is done in a header and footer option, but I don't see those options in 5.0.

Creating Page Numbers:
"This method will allow for different placement of the page numbers. It will allow for center placement, or RightHand for simplex printing or, for Duplex, will put the numbers on the outside corners away from the binding. Also you can specify the start page number if required.
"FIRST STAGE: Create a two page blank PDF. Create a Combo Box called 'Position' with three Items: 'Center', 'Right' and 'Outside'. Use the same names for the Export Values. Now make a text field called 'Start' and put a '1' in it. This will be for the starting page number, usually 1. (Make the field wide enough, however, for 3 digits.) You could put a text field next to it, (any name) containing 'Starting Page' as a prompt. Now make a Button. Give it any name you like, e.g., 'Create'. The action JavaScript for the 'Create' Button is at the end of this message.
"Now on the second page, put three fields on the bottom (or top) of the page where you want your page numbers to appear on the final document and format them as required; i.e., Field Size, Font, Font size, Border, etc. Call these Fields: 'Numbx.L', 'Numbx.C', 'Numbx.R'. (Place them Left, Center and Right.)
"Now put the second page in view. Click Menu: Tools, Forms, Page Templates. Type in the name: 'Numbers' and click 'Add', and then 'Yes' to confirm. Save this single page PDF with any name like CreatePageNumbers.PDF and make it a read-only file to avoid overwriting it. Now just use this file and the second stage to pagenumber your PDFs. Note: If, in the future, you want to edit or reposition the number fields, click the 'Eye' icon in the Template menu to unhide them.

Click the combo box and set the required position for the page numbers. Change the start page number, if not '1'. Now when you click the 'Create' Button you will be asked for the file to insert. Choose the file that needs numbering and insert it 'After' this single page. When you click to open the file, the page numbers will be put into the document, and you will get a prompt to delete the first page with the button. Click 'OK' to delete. Now save the numbered file with a NEW name."
