I'm wondering what kind of keyboard does the dv6-3081ca come with? Is it a US (english localized) keyboard, or is it a french-localized keyboard?

Thanks for the response, i am from canada - I was going to order it online using visa perks to get a discount, but now I assume I'll have to order the laptop by phone then to make sure I get a english keyboard?

DV6-2110sv Keyboard Replacement

Good day,
I have a Greek model Pavilion DV6-2110sv, but the keyboard has died (my daughter thought it looked thirsty). I'm UK based at the moment and getting a Greek keyboard in the UK is stupidly expensive. If I replaced the keyboard with a DV6-2110EA keyboard (English; black) would I have any issues?

Assuming you have a Greek language OS each key on the English keyboard would still activate a Greek character. You can change the keyboard layout in the "Region and Language" applet in control panel assuming you have Windows 7,

HP Pavilion dv6-2114sa keyboard problems

The keyboard for my laptop has been acting very wierdly. Most of the keys work fine but some ofthem do not bring up what they're supposed to.
For example, when I press the 'b' key, it brings up 'bgtv' and when I press the 'y' key, it brings up 'nhy'
I am falling behind with my university work because it takes me far too long to write with the on-screen keyboard so please help

99% of the time keyboard problems are caused by a worn and/or dirty keyboard.
The only solution is to replace the keyboard.

Above are just some examples, HP made silver, black, copper etc colours.
Consider a wireless or wired USB keyboard if you're not inclined to replace your own. Usually it's cheaper to by an external one then it is to pay a shop to do it.

DV6-2173cl keyboard does not work in a few occasions (flash, unity, etc)

I've had this problem recently for a while now on my over-a-year-old DV6-2173CL (WA782UA#ABA) laptop where some plugins, like Flash or Unity web player, won't recognize keys that I'm pressing on my keyboard.
The keyboard works fine in all other occasions, like what I'm doing right now typing this up. The only issue with it is that the "/" key on the numberpad is loose but it still works (whenever i decide to use that side of the keyboard, which honestly i don't really).
However, when it comes to, say, a game (which i like to play often on my hp notebook) that's made in Flash or Unity, it won't recognize keyboard actions I do except the arrow keys and spacebar. Many games just use those sometimes, and that's alright, however, many other games uses some keys for specific actions or WASD to move around, and for some reason it just doesn't register. The funny thing, however, is that if there's a text box in a Flash object, like a chat window, I'll be able to actually type in it with no problem. Outside of text boxes, the keyboard just doesn't work (again, aside from arrow keys and space).
The only other instance where the keyboard doesn't seem to fully work is with Google Reader: I use Google Reader's keyboard shortcuts to quickly go through my subscriptions. However, until recently, the keyboard shortcuts just don't work. Interestingly enough, Gmail's keyboard shortcuts still work fine for me.
Another interesting thing I forgot to mention: Keys seem to work at least once at first, but continue to not work immediately after. On Google Reader, you press "j" to go down. I would occasionally try pressing J, and it would work, but trying again or trying any other keyboard shortcut won't work. When I was testing some Unity web player demos on Unity's site, when I was prompted to press M for the menu, it worked. Pressing it again after or other keys wouldn't work (except arrow keys and "esc", don't remember if spacebar was used in that demo or not).
I can't remember how long ago this has been happening, but I'd say at least over a month. I suppose some software I downloaded/installed has caused this conflict, but I'm not sure what and how long ago it was. I haven't tried doing a System Restore yet, being that I don't know when I should restore to and if a time when this wasn't an issue is still on the restore list. I also haven't mentioned about this sooner being that it wasn't particularly a major issue yet since I can still use my laptop for more important stuff, yet it still remains an annoyance.
Other programs, including installed games, appear to still work well with the keyboard, yet for some reason, with those instances mentioned above, they just don't work. I should also mention that Google Chrome is my primary browser, yet it also seems to be an issue across other browsers, including Firefox.
If anyone can come up with any possible solutions, all help would be greatly appreciated.

however with e10s turned ON keyboard shortcut [ triggers page search instead of getting sent to Gmail
Workaround - with e10s enabled then disable preference

Pavilion dv6-3210s keyboard...

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-3210s laptop. I've had it for about 1 1/2 years.
During this time... my eyesight has been doing downhill. I find the keyboard to be a bit hard to read.
I was wondering if there was a replacement keyboard that was black in color with very bright white letters??? I think something like that would be a bit easier to see/read than the current keyboard that the laptop has.

HP DV6-2170ee keyboard keys not working

Hi,
I have HP DV6-2170ee notebook PC. The 'insert', 'delete', 'home', 'end', 'pgup', 'pgdn' and the 'left/right arrow keys' are not working. Sometimes they work once or twice if I tap them a lot. What could the problem be.
PS : I mostly use external keyboard and I don't use my laptop's keyboard a lot, except when I travel and I don't travel a lot.

DV6-6C50US, Keyboard tone heard and keys dont work when pressed consecutively

DV6-6c50US - windows 7
When I type a key consecutively, it works only once. Example: I type 'business', it appears as 'busines'
Same case with any keys including arrow keys.
I tried various options with Character Repear in Control panel, but no use.
Also, I hear keypad tones which I have never heard in my laptop earlier.
Not sure, how to get this fixed.
Please help.

Hi,
One thing worth checking is as follows.
From windows Control Panel, open the Ease of Access Centre and click on the link 'Make the keyboard Easier to Use'. If there is a tick in the box next to 'Turn on Sticky Keys' or 'Turn on Filter Keys', remove these and then click Apply to make the change to see if this resolves the issue.

How to replace DV6-1259dx keyboard?

i´m here because the keyboard from my laptop is damaged some cleaning foam introduce into the keys, now my keyboard don't writte well, i need to fixed or replaced i don´t know if in my country sell this kind of keyboards for laptops but first i need to open my laptop for replace my keyboard.

Assuming you have a replacement key, or you have the one that came off...
Place the key in the correct orientation over the spot it came off of. Push down on the key so it fits into the indent that is under the key. If you hear a small snap or click, then it's locked to the plastic retainers and should not come off. If it comes up on only one side after this, then push firmly down on that side.

The funcion F1,F2,...F12 are used only when 'Fn' key is pressed, those frecuently used keys should be accesible directly without need of the Fn key!

Can I replace my dv6 3071tx keyboard with an illuminated keyboard from another HP model? If so, part numbers or model # would be a great help if anyone knows.

No available part in the US and the UK part stores that means most likely upgrading the keyboard is not simple. You need to change the motherboard too because you need a place to plug all the lights. And this is very costly.

HP DV6 FAN REPLACEMENT AND LAPTOP REASSEMBLY - KEYBOARD NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY

I called HP Store staff and was able to identify the correct model fan to replace the one in my DV6. I got it and just did the replacement. To those unitiated, its a chore, but it can be done. Give yourself a few hours and peace and quiet. As I discovered, the tricky part is putting everything back. I must have gotten 2 things wrong.
One, the machine thankfully boots to the Windows Start page, and my mouse works fine, the keyboard is now a problem. The keys don't match the screen and I am effectively locked out at the password screen. The key for ENTER is 4. So, what do I do? Re install the cable from the keyboard to the motherboard? Please advise your best suggestions.
Two, when I put in the power cord, the little light to the side of the power adaptor input does not go on. I suspect that the power cord assembly is adversely affected from the reassembly. Any tips?

Reading around on these support page, I figured the cable from the keyboard was not properly installed. Its a tricky item best done with a pair of tweeers, a good bit of light and very close inspection. When everything lines up, close the ZIF hinge and voila! The keyboard now works. And I can boot and get past the passwords.
However, my power is not recharging my battery. That is worrisome and a new issue (from last post above).
Please help. Only a couple hours juice. Thanks.

Availability and Fitting of backlit keyboard to Envy DV6 - 7331SA

I've an Envy DV6-7331SA which works just fine.
I'd quite like a backlit keyboard.
Googling around it seems that backlit keyboards are available but
1. Is this just a simple replacement. I presume the keyboard comes with the backlight cable and there is already a socket for it on the mobo? or what?
2. I can find various foreign and US keyboards but dont seem to be able to find a UK backlit keyboard.
