Does anyone know what fan I should get? The one in my DV7 has decided that it doesn't like rotation. I can provide any information required to find exactly what is needed.

You have to use part number to order fan from HP shop in your country/region or online such as eBay the follow the book to replace fan (if you feel you can do it yourself).

My HP dv7-3165dx needs a new adaptor as the original one no longer works. Should I just buy this one in the HP store? The original was a 65W. I've been using a 90W one a family member lent me just so I can use my laptop. I just want to make sure it's fully compatible and the best choice. Never had to buy an adaptor before. 65W or 90W or 120W can be used. The main 2 things: the tip and voltage. Voltage can be minus/plus 5% but the tip MUST be fit perfectly. Many machines come with TWO units, the first one is for on the road (lighter and smaller).

5700 Card Under Warranty Needs New Fan

For some reason the fan on my 5700 Card has stopped working causing the plasting on the heat sink to melt. I bought the card about 4 months ago and am sure it is under warranty. If I could get my hands on a new fan/heatsink I could install it myself. Anyone out there know where I can get one or if I should just contact MSI and try to have them fix the problem for me.

I wold just RMA the whole card if it melted the fan housing. No telling if there was any long term damage. I would call them first thing in the morning (about 11am your time) and contact the RMA department.

Which fan? My computer of the same model has three and I put in a fourth.
You will almost inevitably have to buy a third party fan since the original ones cost more than the computer is worth. I look for one with an equivalent overall power rating since that roughly equates to air flow.

i need a new Fan for my MacPro only the Fan because with the ball-bearing its something wrong when it's slow rotage (about 500rpm) it makes .klack*..klack...
I dont won't to send the Mac away for two Weeks only for replace the Fan.

It's possible that Apple send me only the Fan? It's that behind Memory expansion Slots.

my only concern is that unless they inspect it themselves, i don't think they'd be willing to just send you a new one, because they don't know that you actually need one. I think they'd be suspicious, possibly thinking that you just want to sell the fan to someone else. However, they may work with you on this. I suggest you call Apple.

Hi, a week or so ago I asked alot about my computer and its upgrades on the forum . Now im wondering if I need a new fan for my computer. Im converting the HP Pavilion p7-1010 into a gaming computer.
When I consulted the forum before I asked and confirmed that the Sapphire 6870 and Corsair 600W Builder Series Power Source fit my computer and would be excellent upgrades for my computer (If this statement is not accurate please let me know).
Currently, besides these to upgrades I am going to but soon, my computer has a completely default make up and would appear exactly as from the Hp listing. I am now wondering if i need a fan with these upgrades to cool down the system, and if so do you have any recommendations? I looked it up online and got conflicting results, thank you!

Yes, you'll need to upgrade your FUS image as well, to 1.7.0.0
When you look at the release notes in the upgradeing software section it should tell you what FUS shoudl be running.

Imac G5 needs new logic board

Hi,
My imac G5 was revving up quite a bit and acted like I was downloading something all the time. I thought it might just need the fans to be cleaned but I took it into the genius bar and was told that they guy "thinks" that I need a new logic board but isn't positive and would I like to look at the new imacs. ( I love looking at the new imacs but it's not in my budget). He said it would cost close to $800.00 to repair my imac. I edit video on it and it's also become the family computer. Any suggestions? Do I put the money into replacing the logic board? Do I put money into expanding the memory on my macbook pro that only has 2 gb of memory?

Has it been shutting down unexpectedly?
There was a repair extension program for some of these iMacs which suffered from defective capacitors on the Logic Board and the Power Supply. It's been closed since Dec. 08, but I've heard of people appealing to Apple Customer Service anyway and getting the repairs covered. First you should open the computer and determine if the capacitors on the Logic Board are swelling or leaking at all. If so, you might be able to convince Apple to do the repairs. 1-800-275-2273. If at first you get turned down, ask to speak to a higher level rep.
Tell them how unfair you think it is that those who had the problem before the program closed were covered, and it was just your bad luck that your computer lasted a bit longer. You can also say that had you opened it up earlier, you probably would have seen the bad capacitor issue developing before the program closed. They are numerous little cylinders about 3/4 inch tall. The tops should be perfectly flat. No brownish gunk. Inspect it very carefully.You won't be able to look inside the Power Supply easily, though. If your iMac is not an iSight, it's very easy to open up. Just three screws at the bottom. Have a look here for illustrated instructions for your model. If it is an iSight, probably best not to try; a bit too complicated. Or you might just call the repair service and ask exactly why they thought it needed a new Logic Board. Did they see bad capacitors?

Need laptop fan

Hello-
I need an HP part # 493001-001 fan/heatsink for a dv5z-1000 Pavilion notebook. This fan seems to be used in many HP models and I'm surprised that HP says the part is no longer available and also has no recommended substitute part #. I don't want to buy a "refurb" part because it will probably develop or already have the same bad bearing issue I now have with the original fan. Any ideas out there?

I believe you can use your old heatsink, just remove the old fan and install this new one onto it.
I always lube the fan shaft/bearing with a small drop of 3-in-One oil and spin it for several minutes before I install it.
I have replaced the fan/heatsink assembly on many dv9000 laptops. Usually you have to completely disassemble the laptops.

Just select your model in sections 1/2/3/, then choose "
FRU Remove/Replace (AMD)FRU Remove/Replace (Intel)Which ever CPU your system uses at the top right section of the screen.
Then in the left side, choose "Fan/heatsink".

Hi!
I would like to buy new fans (cpu) for my msi mega 865. It has a celeron cpu on socket 478 (I believe). The fans on the cooling thing on top of it r getting old I think, because they make a lot of noise. The problem is that the dimensions, 70x70 mm, and 50x50 are kind of non-standars, aren't they? I don't find any fans of those dimensions anywhere! Does anyone know where to buy them?

I have three Palm TX devices of various ages. Two of them need new touchscreens (including

Registration process
Due to a ridiculous number of people not reading the directions for purchasing, and as a result wasting theirs and our time on resolving these issues, this article was written. The following is an (overly detailed) scenario for a purchase:

...the software hasn't appeared in the "Your Software" section.It is very very likely that you entered the wrong email address in there. Go to "Your Software" section, and in there edit the email address. If you ever changed your PayPal email address, your old address might be the one you need to enter.

...changed devices and your id# is now different.Email us with details.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.

The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

Error message need newer version since Yosemity

Since the OS X update on my Macbook Pro to Yosemity, I can't open many numbers files and get the 'need newer version to open' error message. I've updated everything to the latest version. There is only 1 numbers program in my programs directory, no older versions as long as I can see. Tried to open fromout Numbers and from Finder with the 'open with' function. Always the same error. Please help. Need to access my files.

Updating to Numbers 3 (Yosemite) did not remove Numbers '09 from your machine.
