Dv9000 lid problem (but not the one you're thinking of)

I've encountered a problem with my dv9000 lid that as far as I can tell is pretty unique. (My unit has already experienced the left hinge cracking problem, but it was repaired earlier this year.)
Two nights ago, I closed the lid of my computer after normal use. When I returned to the unit a short while later, I found that pressing the lid latch release button only released the left latch! Furthermore, the button did not provide any resistance until pushed to peak displacement. After a few minutes of repeatedly pressing the button in vain, the left latch stopped releasing as well.
Thankfully, I was eventually able to get the lid open again using paperclips to push back the spring-loaded mechanims holding the latches in place. My current workaround to let me close the lid is that I have surrounded both latches with duct tape so the mechanisms in the base don't hold the lid shut anymore.
Clearly, this is not an ideal solution, so I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue, and if so, how have you resolved it. Any other comments would be welcome as well.

I had the same problem...my problem was actually a bent cable connecting the motherboard to the wireless switch on the front left bottom of the laptop. Opened it up and replaced the bent white maybe 6" flat cable and the lid opens and closes just fine now.

Are the ones from the CD's on iTunes? You may just have to sync them over to the phone.

Battery charges in one notebook, but not the one I'm using (Pavilion g6-1c45dx)

Hi everyone,
I'm using an HP Pavilion g6-1c45dx notebook. Windows 7 64-bit.
This morning I went to take my notebook to work with me and noticed that the adapter input had been bent and the battery was not charging. I assumed that the problem was just hardware, and bought an HP Notebook Smart Power Adapter.
If I plug the notebook into the wall with the adapter, with or without the battery in, it works fine, but does not charge. It stays at 9%.
However, if I put the same battery and charger into an older Pavilion (dv5) on which the screen is broken, it charges quickly with no problem. Although the battery check tells me that this (and the older battery from the dv5) need to be replaced, both of them charge perfectly fine on the older computer.
As far as I can tell, there seems to be some problem in between the battery and the adapter that I can't quite get at. I don't understand why it would charge on the othewise completely non-functional notebook but not this one, which is barely a year old. If it were something loose in the power input on the notebook itself, then I don't know why it would run fine on the AC wall current.
I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery drivers. I'm at my wits' end and really don't want to have to buy a third notebook in as many years. It is functional for now, but I don't want to be tethered to a wall at all times or using a busted old computer for charging purposes.

Since the adapter pin was bent I assume that there could be some kind of short circuite which might have damaged the connection between the battery and the AC adapter.
You informed that the battery test failed on both batteries... so you have tried older battery with this PC, what was the result? and how much charge was there when you ran the test?
Why dont you try a system restore or recovery!!
I can think of this as last option to eliminate any possibilities of software conflict.

I defined my Icloud environment some time ago. Unfortunatly, I forgot wich Id I used for it. Now I receive a message like "This is a valid Apple Id, but it is not the Id you used to create your Icloud environment.
So, my question is: where and how can I either replace my Icloud Id or retrieve it ?

Follow the instructions on this link. Be sure to sign out of your old iCloud account on your computer and your devices before setting up you new one. Then sign on the new iCloud account on your PC and your devices once you have set it up using your new AppleID as the iCloud account:

I have a macbook air that is not connecting to the internet correctly. I've had it connected for three weeks, it went into sleep mode, and will not reconnect. It will connect to other wireless routers (I've tested it) but not the one at my apartment.

The problem is not happening with any other device that I have. My iPad, iPhone and another laptop all connect fine. In fact, it's not even the connection. The computer will connect to the net. It just will not open any page. It starts to open and then hangs and hangs. It will not move. Weird since it worked great for three weeks and then all of the sudden, nothing. Click on Safari and I have short hope that it will move and NOTHING! Any thoughts why it would hang up like this and only with this specific network?

This is a known Lion issue, hopefully solved in 10.7.3. But may not be solved immediatly after updating, that was my case.
To make it work i followed those steps.
1.- Restart
2.- Lion 10.7.2 Update
3.- Uninstall netwokrs
4.- Shut down
5.- SMC reset
6.- Reinstall networks
I dont know whether all the above steps are necessary, but for me the update didn't work properly before SMC reset. (I am running a MBA mid2011)

If your Apple ID is disabled for security reasons, try resetting your password via the web using the steps in this article:

Wifi will connect to other routers but not the one at my house

This macbook has had no trouble connecting to this particular router since we got it in august, but all of a sudden 3 days ago it stopped connection, just says connection timed out. It connects to any other router, bt hotspots, mobile tethering, just not our router at home. I'm currently connected to the troublesome router via ethernet cable with no issues. My other computer, tablet, and our phones are all connected to the router wirelessly with no issues as well.
I've tried messing with the DNS settings, forgetting the router and readding, updating software etc but no luck so far, any ideas?
I'm on OSX mavericks 10.9.5, macbook pro is from 2010, 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 4gb ram,

I realice the same kind of problems after update to 10.10.2 version. My Mac unable to connect but no problems with iPhone and iPad.
After trying some setup changes suggested by the support team through the chat the solution was:
1-Change the channel the router is using if not within the 9 - 15 range (formerly my one used the channel 1 and I changed to 11). It can be checked at Apple>About this Mac>System Report within the Network>WiFi paragraph under the network ID.
2-Change the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (System preferences>Netwok>WiFi>Advanced>DNS).
3-Turn off the Bluetooth connectivity.
In my case it means I can't use my bluetooth magic mouse when need the WiFi connection running, but .......

I bougt a new Macbook pro in 02/26/2013, in 11/25/ 2013, my trackpad become bulging, they exchange the trackpad, but not the bulging battery. I went there yesterday, with different problem, and they said one screw came off from the truckpad again!

Than I could not use it, because my cursor uncontrollably was jumping around the screen, I was resumed my trackpad become bulging, Than on11/25/ 2013 they changed my trackpad for free, because was manufactoring defect, but not the bulging battery. They said that is do not needed. Since that my cursor is quiet often quivering, I think my Macbook has serious manufacturing defect. But they said no, during a year period I went to the genius bar at least 15 times, with this and similar problems. I went there yesterday, with different problems, and they said one of the screws came off from my truck pad, therefore they need to fix it and change it. I said: - What, how, what is the real problem? A screw does not comes off just like that? They will change my trackpad again, but not the battery. They said has to rebuild the operation system, I'm saving all of my data right now! I would like to exchange the battery too, or maybe get a new Macbook. My Macbook is 2010 China model. How long I would have this trackpad problem? What are you suggesting?

If it's a 2010 as you say towards the end of your post, it's out of warranty. The battery isn't covered in that case. Why don't you just buy a new battery if that's your concern? If it's a 2013 as you say up at the top, it shouldn't have a bulging battery. How do you know it does? If it really does, ask for the store manager and explain the problem.

Two email accounts, one password for both. will check one but not the other. Have had no problems before

I have 2 email accounts for 2 people. TB will download mail for one but not the other. It can't authenticate the password. Passwords are both the same. Worked fine until today.

The amount of information makes it somewhat hard to give a specific answer. I could only recommend:
* Can you log into the account using the webmail service from your provider?
* Have you verified the settings for the account to be correct (protocol, port number, password encoding)?

I don't know much about samba, but I have had very similar problems with netbios in windows, I find it to be very unreliable and I think you would be better off with ftp, but that's just my opinion. Apart from that, are you sure you have the necessary ports opened, and so do they? And you might need a line in /etc/hosts.allow

In Inspector, select the Graphic Inspector. Choose, from the Fill options, Image Fill. Select the image from the dropdown and click Open. Now go back to Inspector and click on Scale to Fit. Choose from the options in the window. There are a number of them which should address your problem:
With the Blog template, you will probably need to insert a text box over the stock placement frame and work with that instead.

It sounds as though you are trying to talk to Apple. Unfortunately, this is a user-to-user forum and Apple does not participate here.
You say you tried opening it "but in vain" - describe what happens, do you get an error statement or is the list just empty.
You tried another account, does that mean you set the Account ID to another one (for the itunes store?) and now you do get a list? Is it the list of apps that you have purchesed? If so, then recall that the device must be connecting to itunes using the ID that was used to purchase the apps. If you later change to another ID, then all the apps purchased under the other ID will be removed.
If I'm not understanding your problem, please describe it again and include more information.

Bridge will do the job. View > Sort > ByType. Then you can choose a group of one type and put the files in a separate folder.

You have to change the card in the 'Account' section of the iTunes Store, in 'Payment details'.

Restore as New (no backup)... then Re-Sync your Content.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer
iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
