DVD Labels and inserts

Could a reader please suggest a good product to make labels and inserts for burned DVDs.
I would love something fairly easy to use that produces quality results.
I am using OS X 10.6.2.
Thank You
Dan

it is cheap probably because it is a printer they dont make anymore. And they sell them cheaply, counting on making money on the ink (its not the razor but the razor blades). The real nice thing is that it is in the box new. But as I searched you can find many in the box for that price.
It has a tray the you insert the DVD into, you have to buy the white printable DVDs.
Here it is in Amazon, may be able to get it cheaper than ebay, look around
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B19XR8/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=4574212915&ref=pdsl_40ud93lu79e
each of the ink refills are 9.99 (this unit takes 5) at HP so generic ink is a big deal.
As for ease, my brother did them for me, his printer. He said it was a little tricky but figured it out. he wrote me this afterwards
"By the way, it actually forced me to figure out how to get it print reliably, every time ... you wouldn't believe what the "trick" is ... you have to SELECT each of the printer variables that choose that printer and that CD/DVD tray and all the other options, both on the the software's own print dialog box, AND the OS's dialog box, EACH TIME, each disc, EVEN (especially) if the selections are already correct!
(That, and a few other really weird things, like having the tray be in the NO CD/DVD PRINT position when you send the print command!!)"
I'm sure with the manual and playing around you could figure it out.
It has a special tray for the DVDs that you use instead of a paper tray, pop them in etc.
I used DiskCover as the software , shareware
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29266
it probably has its own software with it so I'd try theirs first.
Anyway, just a suggestion, since it really is a cheap printer. Like I said, i didnt do them but they look so nice with a color picture on the front.

  • Software  for  mac  to  print  CD  and  DVD  cases  and  inserts

I have a powermac/tiger OS X and want to print up CD and DVD sleeves/covers and inserts but i have looked on the web for software that would enable me to do this with my mac and operating system but can not find anything.Does anyone know of any software i could purchase to enable me to do this with my mac ?
    thanks

There are several applications that will do that. A couple that are specific are Discus, from Magic Mouse software, and DiscLabel from SmileOnMyMac. A version fo Discus comes with Toast, from Roxio, which is an application that offers advanced disk burning options. I got DiscLabel after getting a LightScribe drive, since it supports that. Both of these will label disks, as well as making covers and inserts.
Actually, any good paint application will print up the covers and inserts, but these applications will size them automatically. With less specific applications, you will need to do your own layout.

    Hi Rich ~
One place to find some is over at Version Tracker:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/tiger/
Enter " cd dvd label " into the search field on the top right area and quite a few come up. You can download them and try them out from there. They also have reviews from people who have used it and other useful info.

  • Advice on DVD labels and printing

After looking at various posts, I've decided to get a printer that prints directly on DVDs.
    Currently looking at Epson R220 (£55), R300 (£80), R340 (£117)
I don't really need the card reader or screen capablity. Is the R220 otherwise the same spec and quality?
Also looking at SmileOnMyMac's 'Disc Label' software?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Sam

I have an Epson R300 that I use and a R200 hooked to the PC my wife uses. Printing itself on disks works fine on the R300 although I have had minor problems with the disk tray. The printer comes with a program for creating and printing on the disks that is easy to use. Have not done any disk printing on the R200 although it is great at printing photos as is the R300. The card reader on the 300 has come in very handy for reading both cards from my digital camera as well as my palm organizer.
    Hope this helps.

  • What software do I use to make cd/dvd labels?

I enjoyed using iDVD to put together a slideshow for an 80th birthday party.  Now I want to share the slideshow on dvd's, but what software should I use to make dvd labels and jewel case covers?

I agree 100% with Klaus1. You don't want to use stick on labels. If you have an Epson R series printer you can print directly to discs with it.
For printing on discs or making case inserts/covers one application that I like is Discus.  Here are some of the designs I've created and used with it:

  • Label and cover

just proud to made my first iDvD. So proud that i also want to design a dvd label and a cover for it. But could not find anything about this in iDvD or iWorks. Someone knows nice software for this?

    Hi
WHAT EVER ! Don't put any lable or sticky thing on a DVD. It will be unstable and
not playably any more + eventually harm the DVD player.
I bought an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 printer and printable DVD discs. Works gratly
and the lay-out is done with Epson program bundled with the printer.
THERE ARE Other Cheaper alternatives as good as this one !

I think it's a problem with DVDs. Not sure how to check integrity of DVDs?
    -Hansal

    Hansal,
md5sum will verify the integrity of the stage area directory but not the integrity of the CDs/DVDs.
To check the contents of the Media Pack, try to view the contents of the DVD itself (use ls command).
If downloading files from https://edelivery.oracle.com/ website is not an option for you then you may need to log a SR and ask Oracle support to send you another Media Pack.

  • I need assistance in burning an imovie to a DVD.  I've done this before, but am having problems this go around.  When I get to the import section and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and ejects it.  Any ideas?

I am struggling with getting the imovie I just created to burn onto a DVD.  I have done this before, I'm following the tutorial for imovie '09 and it isn't working after several attempts.  Any suggestions?  When I get to the import phase and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and then spits it out.

I bought a 47LA6200 TV and a BP530 blue ray player. I have my cable box hooked up to HDMI 1, I have my blue ray hooked up to HDMI 2, and my XBox 360 to HDMI 3. I have my cable box hooked up to my older JVC RX880V stereo digital optical to digital optical without any 5.1 problems at all.
My TV digital optical out is hooked up to my stereo digital optical port 2 without any 5.1 problems either, sort of.
My BP530 is hooked up to my stereo digital coax to digital coax but I cannot get any 5.1 sound at all. Not through any of the digital channels on the stereo at all.
The player only comes through as standard stereo through all 4 speakers and I am not sure if it is coming through the base speaker at all.
I have tried every setting on both the TV and the blue ray player to no avail. I have even tried to not use the digital on my blue ray but when the stereo is set to play from my tv optical I still don't get 5.1 sound.
When I do not use the TV optical out but I do use the digital coax out from the DVD player I still cannot play my DVDs in 5.1. I have new HDMI 15gbps HDMI cables and a new digital coaxial cable so I don't think it is a cable thing.
The real question is how do I get to hear my blue ray and DVD discs in 5.1 sound? Will this work if I exchange my blue ray player for a Denon 3D blue ray or other player?

  • How to design a dvd label in illustrator and export as interactive

    hello!
I need to design a dvd label for a client and they want to be able to make edits to it after I design it.  Is there a way I can design it in illustrator.. save as an interactive pdf and then they can edit it with acrobat? I know with acrobat you can make edits to type but can you make edits to colors, photos, etc? And if you can't does anyone know of another application that they would be able to use without having adobe? let me know thanks!

You can't replace content in Acrobat. You only can use the touchup tools to adjust text and make minor corrections on images like cropping or assigning a different color profile. and of course you can use form elements to provide dynamic text. If you need to provide more than that, you better look into otehr solutions which could be as trivail as the software they use to actualyl print the DVD labels (canon Easy Label Print and similar) or a generic, free tool like Open Office Draw, Inkscape or Scribus...

  • Label and Button in VBox, how to dynamically insert something between them?

I'm probably missing something simple here, but scratching my head. If I have a VBox with a label and a button in it, is there no way to insert a new child between the other two children ? Something like a way to get at "nth child"? or "insertAtIndex" ? Most likely I am just thinking about this wrong-headedly. Thanks.

ah, so .add() takes an int which determines the position among the children in which it will be inserted? I knew I was completely missing something critically simple. Thank you.

  • PSE7 and CD/DVD Labels

I upgraded from PSE5 a while back and appear to have lost some of my printing functionality.
In PSE5, selected the photo (in this case a project - a CD/DVD label created in PSE5) I wanted to print, and then was able to select "Labels" in the "Select Type of Print" in the Print Photos screen.  I'd select the template to print, select "print multiple photos" (of the same thing) and I could then print two labels on one page - matching the label paper I've purchased.
In PSE7, "Labels" is no longer in the "Select Type Of Print" pulldown.  If I try and print the same project, it wants to place it in the middle of the page.  If I select "Print Multiple Photo's" it places two of them on the page, but not centered correctly.  Very Frustrating!
Anyone have ideas on how I get "Labels" in the "Select Type Of Print" pulldown in PSE7?  Help!
    Thank You!

The labels option is no longer present in PSE7. I think this feature has been removed from PSE7.

  • Can Bridge Label and Rate Pictures on removable CD, DVD...?

    Adobe Help file states so:
"You can label and rate folders as well as files. You can even label and rate files and folders on read‑only media, such as a CD."
but adobe techs can't figure out why it is not working.
seems to somehow work manually in certain workspaces (vert film strip, light table...) by sliding mouse over the 5 white dots. but pull down menu ( although not grayed out) will not register rating on pictures. and most important, the filter doesn't recognize them anyway, so pointless to sort.
version: Bridge cs3 2.2.1.9, all recent patches updated.
this had been exceptionally useful in past through the old build-in photoshop feature to rank thousands of pictures from client or photographer cds by building ranking into cache and allowing for sorting pictures before opening, saving, retouching in photoshop whilst still navigating through cd roots.
only recommendation from techs is to burn entire content of each cd onto your hard drive, then rank them, then re-burn a new cd with metadata adjusted if needed. if any of you deal with thousands of pictures coming from photographers and clients, i dont' have to tell you this is a huge asinine...
any idea much appreciated to solve the problem.

That is normal behavior I think, if you open a folder with only subfolders there are no cached files for Bridge to read. I don't know exactly with CD but if you let Bridge build the cache for that folder the filter probably appears after showing only no rating.
If you have otherwise problems with filter or anything else first is to use the menu tools - cache - purge cache for folder, if this is not working refresh preferences with holding down the option key while restarting Bridge and choose refresh preferences out of the three options

  • I had Mactheripper as my default DVD application upon insertion. I took Mactheripper off of my system and now when I insert a DVD it won't mount.

How to change the DVD default applicaiton

    Hi
    A. Did You really - Create a new User account and log into this one and hav a try ? (just to confirm the most common error)
    B. Tested by using a Cleaning DVD disk (NO liquid but the kind with brushes)
    C. If they both fails --- Apple Store to test if repair is needed - alt. an external CD/DVD-burner.
Did You by any chance - BURN more than three DVDs in a continuous row ? Doing so overheats the DVD-laser and repair is of need - will not self heal.
I burn three - then let it cool down for >30 minutes - then burn next set of three.

  • Would like guidance on printing dvd labels using LaCie LightScribe Disc Lab

    Hello:
I would really like to create some Christmas CD's for friends & family and my research indicates that there is a product called LaCie LightScribe Disc Label software that allows my MacBook's dvd burner the capabiity to burn a professional looking label on each disc--can anyone educate me on this process along with recommendations on whether this is the way to go---I am really stumped and don't want to glue on labels or use a black felt pen for these gifts.
    Thanks,
    Connie

Lightscribe drives are available from a number of vendors and will fit into any compatible external case. Putting one into the internal case of anything other than a Mac Pro is not for the faint of heart. Besides the LaCie software, DiscLabel from Smile Software will burn labels, and there is a basic labeler from http://lightscribe.org/, where you can find out more information about the process. It is fairly slow, taking several minutes to make a complicated label. It is fine for friends and family, but it will be too slow for a big run of disks, particularly since you have to insert the discs upside down into the drive one by one, waiting for it to complete one before you can label the next.

  • Good DVD Labeling Tips

I am in need of good software to create DVD labels, particularily DVD Case Inserts. I love using Photoshop but haven't been able to find any templates. What do people use to design great DVD Case Inserts? Is there a label brand/template that works with Photoshop? Thanks in advance.
    Craig

Yes it does. It seems that once we get it printing it works fine. Getting it there sometimes is a headache. I complained a lot to Epson, they have been very good, sent them to the service guy he fixed them, had another problem and they are replacing the printer. I complained to the list here and some of the readers did the math and said hey, you just printed 1000 dvds on 2 60 dollar printers, it really isn't that bad even if you do have to replace them.
Is there a difference in the hardware on the r340?
