DVD-R plays on one machine but not on another

I have an HDD-DVD recorder, which can burn DVD-R disks. The disks will then play in my 12" PB, but won't play in my iMac - although they did at one time. Putting the disk in results in a repetitive clicking and whirring but the disk does not appear on the Desktop of the iMac, and Disk Utility will not recognise it. Commercial DVDs are recognised OK.
Both machines are running the same version of OS.

Export for web files play on one server, but not on another.

I exported my movie from QT Pro 7.6.6 and it created all the files I need. I have the movie "sniffer"(movie that determines which version to pull up depending on device) and then the sub movies. When I go straight to the sniffer in Safari with the files on my client's server, the movie plays fine. When I do the same from my iPad or iPhone, it won't play from that server.
If I move the exact same files to another server and go to the sniffer, the movie plays on all devices. Could there be some sort of server setting preventing them from being played on my client's server?
If so, what specifically needs to change on the server?

Airplay works for one user but not for another on the same machine

I have the problem where airplay works for one user but not for another and both users are on the same machine. For the user where it does not work, everything appears normal, it's just that there is no sound being transmitted. I have tried restarting the Airport express, restarting iTunes, repairing disk permissions. Any ideas about what can be done to resolve this?

Songs playing on one computer, but not on others.

I use my iPod on three different computers (Home/Work/brand new laptop). I recently upgraded my iPod from original 80gb to new Classic 160gb. Before I purchased my new iPod, I transferred my whole library (about 50gb)from my iPod onto my new laptop(using transfer software). Then when I purchased my new iPod I synced the whole library to the iPod. The problem is that when ever I connect my iPod to my work or home PC some songs have an exclamation mark next to them (and they don't play). So when I went to replace the "exclamation marked" songs from the laptop (where the whole library exist), I had NO exclamation marks. So my question is why do the songs play on one computer but not the others? Please help!

It looks alot like the problem we had when we couldn't resolve the CUPS server FQDN. But the desktop and laptop are on the same subnet and use the same DNS servers. I can ping the CUPS server by FQDN from the command prompt on both

I swapped out the username for and the domain with to protect the innocent. Or maybe the guilty; we will see. From the command prompt I can ping BC-IPT-UPS. and I get a response from the CUPS at the correct IP address.

Call customer-subscreen causes dump in one box but not in another box

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone here encountered this situation before and knows of any explanation or solution.
There's two development boxes with a program that contains the following code/statement:
call customer-subscreen SSCR903 including 'SAPLXXXXXX' '2000'
SAPLXXXXXX happens to not exist in both boxes. In the first box, when execution reaches that statement above it will generate a dump saying that 'SAPLXXXXXX doesn't exist'. But in the second box, when execution reaches that statement above it won't generate a dump and execution continues to the next statement in the program.
I checked SAP documentation on the CALL CUSTOMER-SUBSCREEN keywords, but I didn't find anything that would explain why it dumps in the first box, but not in the second one.
Anyone encountered the same situation before? Any explanation why it's dumping in one box, but not in the other box?

Abap doesn't check existence of the dynpro, it only check activation of the exit in CMOD, that may explain the, difference.

Why will DVD play on one player but not another??

Hi,
I made an ISO file using devede and then burnt it to a DVD using K3B. The finished DVD will work on a Magnavox player but not a JVC. Is there anything I can do about this??? Do some players have a "must be produced commercially" filter or something???

First, I am assuming you recorded your iso on +R type media. Next, I'm guessing that the player that won't play your DVD is the older of the two players. Some DVD players, especially older ones don't like +R media. If this is the case, here is a possible fix.
Here is a thread on another forum which discuses changing the booktype on your DVD burner. Here is a quote from the original post:

Many standalone Players, HDD recorders/players and games consoles don't like +R media but they are happy enough to play -R or DVD-ROM.
Some drive brands have tools to change this option but others don't. I have found that the easiest way to change your BOOKTYPE setting is to use a small burning tool called IMGBurn which can be found doing a Google search.
Below you can see some screen shots which guide you through changing your BOOKTYPE setting. For this I have used my NEC4551 but IMGBurn supports NU-Tech, Plextor, Ricoh, Samsung, BenQ, LG, Lite-on and NEC.
Once you have changed your BOOKTYPE setting, when you burn a +R/+RW disc it will be burned as a DVD-ROM which is the same as a bought movie and most players are happy to play these.
Since my DVD players are happy with +R media, I haven't tried this. Both of my players are fairly new, and I made sure that +R was listed on the box as one of the formats accepted by that player.
As usual, try this at your own risk.

Audio will preview in iDVD, dvd will play audio in puter but not player

Sharing a movie from iMovie 8.0.3 (all programs up to date) gives me a movie with audio I can preview in iDVD 7.0.4 again, all updated. When burned, the dvd will play with audio on the computer, but in an actual dvd player, it will not play audio, and the movie autoplays - to get the dvd menu I had to press "menu."
Any thoughts?

If the burned disk plays ok in your computer, I would not suspect the software, but the DVD player that you are using. Try the disk in another player and see if it works. DVD players vary considerably in how they handle the audio tracks. I am especially sure that it is the player when you note that one must push 'menu' to get the iDVD menu to appear.
Other suggestions:
Use a good recommended brand of DVD disk to burn your DVDs, such as Verbatim or Maxell. Memorex and TDK are not recommended here because their layers are thinner and they give inconsistent burns.
Be sure to use a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Also, most of us recommend that you make a disk image file of all your iDVD projects.
From within an iDVD project, select 'Save as Disk image' from the menu. The process looks like a burn, and takes just as long for encoding, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk.
You can then mount the disk image file and play it on your computer using the application DVD Player.
This disk image file is an exact replica of your iDVD project, with all the media data encoded within it. If it plays properly, you can use it to burn DVD disks now and for as long as you save the disk image file. It is a great backup for your projects. In fact, you can safely move, change or delete the original iDVD project and the original iMovie used in it without losing the ability to burn a disk of your project later.
An iDVD project, on the other hand, is a shell container that points to the media used in it, but does not actually keep those files in it. iDVD pulls the media for the encoding/burn, but the media stay where they are originally located. If you want to save all your iDVD projects, you have to save all the media precisely as it was when the project was created or iDVD will be unable to find it to open the project.
Many have been keenly disappointed to learn that their projects are gone because they saved only the iDVD project and deleted all the other media.
However, with an disk image file encoded with the media, the original iDVD project and iMovies used in it can be safely deleted.

Firefox is rendering a page in quirks mode on one machine, but not on a different machine.

I have two machines that are going to the same website. One machine renders the page correctly, the other enters quirks mode and nothing appears on the screen.
The machine that is not working is running OS X 10.6.4. The one that is working is running 10.4.11.
I tried deleting the preferences, and reinstalling Firefox.
This is a brand new install of the OS and was the first time we tried access this website.

The problem is due to a call to getVolumeInformation. It works on my desktop but not on a different machine which has different drives and partitions etc. I'm returning the file system type of the fixed drives, however on certain fixed drives it fails. At first I thought it was failing on logical drives but that does not seem to be the case.This is nonsense in terms of your original post.
Perhaps you meant to say that some of your native methods work and others dont? And the one and only way that they don't work is because you get the link error? If yes then I already told you what the reason is.
Conversely there is some other failure, which has nothing to do with a link error. And thus it is pointless to continue to discuss this unless you actually explain what is happening.

Jabber 4.4 "Graphics card or driver not supported" error on one machine but not another.

Hi, I looked at the KB document but the email link on it no longer works.
I have two end-users using Jabber 4.4 on identical machines, same specs, same driver build and OS image. One gets the "Graphics card or driver not supported" error, the other does not.
We have two DellOptiPlex 7010's,
Both had 2 instances of AMD Radeon HD 7470 - they are dual monitor machines.
In both cases the driver version 8.922.0.0, Driver Date 12/6/2011. This is the latest Dell has on their website.
On one machine when I run a fresh install for Jabber for TelePresence 4.4 it works fine. But on another the user first gets
"supportabilitytest.exe has stopped working
A oriblem cause the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
Then when that's closed out we get:
"Graphics card or driver not supported!
New features in this version of Jabber Video are not supported by your computer's graphics driver.
Update to the newest graphics driver available and run Jabber Video again."
I can't believe it's just a matter of upgrading the drivers because in this case one machine with identical drivers works.

It sounds like the openGL supported version did not install on the one that is failing. There isn't much we can do regarding that error. Best practice is to always upgrade to the latest manufacturer's available driver. Client requirements are below.
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), Vista, or XP (SP 2 or newer), with OpenGL 1.2 or newer.
For 720p HD video calls, Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2GHz or better.
For VGA video calls, Intel Atom @ 1.6GHz or better.
Webcam, built-in or external. You need an HD webcam if you want other callers to see you in HD.
Broadband Internet connection with a recommended bandwidth of 768kbps upstream and downstream. You need about 1.2Mbps upstream and downstream for 720p HD video calls.

IPod recognized on one PC, but not on another

Hi!
I just received a brand new iPod Click Wheel 20GB in exchange for my old one that had a hardware defect within the warranty period.
When I tried to connect the device to PC1 (WinXP) which I had always used with the old iPod without any problems, the new iPod was discovered in Windows, but not in iTunes, although the diagnostics feature in iTunes showed the iPod connection with a green "light".
I removed all other USB devices, re-installed iTunes 7.0.2. twice, reset the iPod a few times and also put it into disk mode. After some attemps, it was recognized by iTunes and started to synchronize songs (which are both imported from original CDs and purchased from iTunes). However, synchronization took a lot longer than it used to with the old iPod (approx. one song per minute now compared to one song per 5-10 sec. before). After some time (3GB in first try, 7 GB in second try) an error code ("1-24") was displayed and synchronization (which should have been 18 GB in total) stopped.
The next thing I did was to try to connect the iPod to PC2 (again WinXP), first using an older version of iTunes and a different library. It worked without problems. Then I upgraded iTunes to V.7.0.2. and it still worked. Then I copied the iTunes library from the PC1 to PC2 and again, it worked.
In connection with copying the iTunes library, another question emerged: I copied all folders unter \iTunes\iTunes_Music from PC1 to PC2. Strangely, only 1,500 songs were copied on PC2, while there are over 3,000 songs on PC1. I compared the directories in detail and found out that there were artists with and some without their own directory, which might be the reason for the difference, as songs of those artists had not been copied.
Hence, my questions to the community are:
- What could I do to make the connection of my iPod with PC1 work like it did with the old iPod and like it does on PC2?
- Where is the rest of the songs/artists that do not have a seperate directory?

I have the same kind of problem. I installed the ipod on one comouter in my house, dont know what version of itunes but i dont think the latest one and registered it, then I installed it onto this pc with the latest version of itunes and windows dosemt recognise it. It makes me insall drivers like five times and sends me loads of messages saying things like it is installed and ready to use one minute, then found new hardware the next. And even now after I have installed everything and I dont get the messages anymore it still dosent come up in 'my computer.' Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Oledb working in one place but not in another

I have two examples accessing the same table in my oracle database. Whereas code in example 2 always working , code in example 1 worked initially but after that failing with the following error.
Please help me as to why I get table or view does not exist error in one case but working fine in other case when I use the same table in both examples?

Beta user on one computer but not on another

I have Beta version 16.0 on one computer on one computer but on another computer its regular version 15.0.1. Bookmarks are not synching. How do i get both versions the same?

GarageBand - Controller's Foot Pedal (in AUSampler) works for one track but not for another

I am learning how to use AUSampler in GarageBand. I am using a MIDI controller (Alesis Q88) with a foot pedal for the sustain.
The sustain works with the default sound in AUSampler (Sine 440), but not for a sound that I imported. Also, my imported sound plays longer the lower the keys played, and the higher up the keys the faster it plays. Either way, it doesn't allow sustain, but yet the default sound does.
I know where the Controller / Sustain Pedal area is within the Piano Roll but that doesn't fix my dilemma.
I presume my problem is related to the viola sound I imported (wav format), or the way I need to set something up; I hope the latter.
Any clues?

You can test your settings by clicking the big "Test My DNS" button at <https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc/services/dnsentropy>. If you see "Poor" on any of the tests, don't use that domain name server! Remove it from Apple Menu => System Preferences =>Network =>DNS Servers or similar location in your router if you've got a 'home network'. If all you have is "poor" DNS servers in your list, call your ISP and insist that they give you the address of a name server which is protected against the recently exposed DNS cache-poisoning threat.
Also, open System Preferences/Network. Click the DNS tab. Add these numbers in the DNS Servers box.

Visa class conflict on one PC but not on another

My problem is, that vi's (LabVIEW-drivers for the data aquisition unit
34970A, but also any self-created) with VISA functions doesn't work on
one PC, but on another PC (with the same LabVIEW version 6.0 and the
same operation system Windows 2000) they do.
The reason why it doesen't work on one PC is a class conflict between
VISA resource name control and the VISA function block (read, write,

this cause the problem? Or maybe any other software?
I haven't installed any HPIB or other drivers for the data aquisition
unit on any PC. But also when I install the driver, the problem isn't

That is a great suggestion. Make sure you have the full NI-VISA driver installed. You may also want to check to see if that VISA resource is listed in MAX. Even though the software is present, you communication line may not be detected.
You can open up the VISA Alias Editor to find which resource names exist on your computer. Then you can use the VISA Interactive Control to actually test the VISA resource. Open the Interactive Control from Tools>>NI-VISA>>Interactive Control. Double-click the resource name of your device and select the Basic I/O tab on the panel that appears. This allows you to write to and read from your device to test if VISA works with it at all.
Testing with these two utilities should give you some more information about what is goin
g on in your system.

I understand now the limitation of Mail--only one message goes to the outgoing server regardless of number of recipients, and the attachment is part of the message. Thanks again for your help.
